Fun fact most people don’t know: James Cameron’s idea for “Avatar” existed as far back as his idea for “Titanic,” but since our movie technology at the time wasn’t really all that good, he decided to wait a while until it improved before revealing this epic sci-fi movie to the world. He obviously made the right choice
He want to make this movie in 1997, and released it in 1999. At the time it was going to cost over $400 million. So no company, wouldn't risk that take.
@stryfetc1 Exactly he also invented some of the stuff/method just for this film since he wasn't satisfied for the 3d animation that time so he improved it and now became the standard in film making same things happen to Avatar 2 reasons why it also took longer for Cameron to begin filming..
Considering how long ago this film first came out, I'm still surprised at how well the graphics looked, even for 2009. You can tell there was so much time and work put into this film. Making it an iconic masterpiece. I bet the second film will be even better.
The first one came out right when HDTV, Blu Ray, and 3D films were getting popular and it was the first film to really capitalize on all of that at once. Many theaters actually bought new projectors specifically because of Avatar. The 2nd one won't have those advantages so no I don't think it's going to be nearly as mind blowing. The first one felt like a theme park ride because I'd never seen anything like it. That being said the second one is going to be the first major holiday film release since the pandemic and every other big budget movie changed its release date so they didn't have to compete with Avatar 2. So it's likely it will do fine at the box office but people aren't gonna go insane over it like the first one.
Only Zoe could have brought Neytiri to the level she did. World class performance from her, throughout, from the shouting to the smiling, to the looking, to the crying. She nailed it! Can't wait to see her again in December
The incredibly beautiful world of Pandora created by James Cameron, which you want to visit more than once. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has Neytiri as their favorite character. Zoe Saldana played this role just perfectly beautiful!
@Play_box454 It is real! It's called the Pleiades. And Earth will soon look the same, once we all remember that we are one with nature as well. We will swim with the whales as we did during the time of Lemuria on Earth. It's all there, just believe :)
The fact they included real people too. The line between a 3d animated character and a real person got truly blurry in this movie. It's not just "Oh look a human next to a 3d character" Is barely noticeable, it looks so real and it blends so nicely! Like it doesn't look awkward or anything, it's just there.
Watching it in IMAX 3D confuses my brain cuz I kept reminding myself that they aren't real, but there are so many scenes where they looked super real like I was literally with them and watching them live in theaters 😭😭😭
I was 8 when it came out, watched bits and pieces for a couple of years (the not-so-scary ones :p), then at 11, my parets finally allowed me to watch the whole movie. Thought it was the best birthday gift ;D
Thank goodness for the thick suits and CGI... so ya don't have to shoot a paintball at Jamie Flatters with a bare chest... or ya know, like Alec Baldwin, actually kill the poor schmuck in real life.
I’m 14 and I’ve been loving this movie since forever, I watched this movie before I barerly could read, I’m so so so SO excited for avatar 2 and the effects and editing is AMAZING
Yes I can. I'm more impressed by old movies like Jurassic Park than I am by this. The CGI here isn't even that good... it's quite mediocre, and they do nothing to hide it.
I was 7 when my dad took me to see Avatar, and I loved it so much and couldn't wait for the next movie to come out, can't wait to see what James is planning for the upcoming Avatar movies
Extreme skillset from the actors, being able to mentally take themselves out of such a goofy looking scenario and still deliver a meaningful and powerful performance..
@NazriB wtf are you talking about? The actor's were using MoCap otherwise known asa motion capture animation. They are 100% in those scenes and acting out everything with the cg laid on top of their captured body motion. You're weird as hell for calling the commentor a liar. Like get a hobby. And begone bot
Yeah, a healthy pay check is a great motivator. I am sure they would rather be on screen in reality. Have any of Sam’s movies since 2009 done that well? He can live off the sequels for years now.
on that note, have u also seen some behind the scenes of Video games acting, a lot of new games have mocap, especially interesting knowing that there can be many pathways in gameplay
Avatar never fail to amaze us even with the new sequel. Some movies’ sequel actually became not as good comparing to their first movie but Avatar literally make a whole fascinating plot that actually gives the movie a new look to it.
@N-e-o1 if u actually paid attention... the 2nd movie was much better than the 1st one and also how was it a copy past of the original... they only took the part where humans and the blue guys fight
I don't even remember what the movie was about. Im 23 so i wasnt young enough to forget but i do remember the visuals. They still look good to todays standards
It must of been so difficult to even try and sell the idea of this movie. It was 2007 when they started filming and working on this movie and cgi was really just making its way into films, but even then typical action movies had 1/4 of it be cgi and it didn’t really look that realistic, but for this movie where 80% of the visuals are cgi and they look pretty damn real for a movie released in 2009. The work put into this is unimaginable and is honestly a historic accomplishment
James Cameron always was ahead of its time. Terminator 2 came out in 1991. That was 18 years before Avatar, but it already had some impressive CGI. 2009 was also 16 years after Jurassic Park.
this masterpiece was created back in 2009. Imagine what’s waiting for us in 2022 in Avatar 2? The technological advancements in CGI and motion capture are going to make the sequel movie a surreal experience. Can’t wait for it!!
I love that Zoe says she feels like she's blue and 9 feet tall. It's the playing pretend and imagination we all wish we could do growing up. It's so awesome!
This is absolutely incredible! 🤯Watching this and knowing what all went into it just makes the film that much more impressive. I just rewatched the first one to prepare for seeing the second tomorrow! I can’t lie, I have very high expectations for it but I’m excited! 😁✨🎉
Honestly, it looks like acting for James Cameron is an amazing job. He seems to truly care about the actors experience and how that transfers to the realism of their performance.
After all these difficult things they came up with a Legendary movie and it's now become a series where James Cameron revealed that there's gonna be 3 more sequal of Avatar after this Avatar 2 😌
For me this is the best film ever and it wont change. Im so in love with the story, the navi and all the other guys on the film. Everything is insane and perfect. Even the song. Im so happy that i could see this video. And i cant wait to watch the seco d film of Avatar next year in december im so hype. And the avatar playstation 5 is the game im waiting the most. Thanks for this video guys!
In the past, they have perfected CGI...now, with the new movie coming out, it improves upon perfection and it's looking gorgeous, especially the water simulations.
I love Avatar it's one of my favorite movies and I love the cast ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ with all my heart
Respect for these Actors, Stuntmen, All the crew members has nonetheless but increased after seeing their efforts. AVATAR is the Greatest Movie of all time hands down, let alone a piece of history to be remembered afterwards. We are lucky to have experienced such a intricately creative movie in person. So hyped for the upcoming sequel.🤩
That is BY FAR my most favorite movie! James Bond, ThunderBall WAS my favorite up till I saw Avatar! I wore out one disk and bought another one. THREE TIMES !!! Then RUclips put out EXTENDED scenes. Then one of deleted scenes. Then how it was all made. My eyes were, once again, GLUED to the monitor! Thank you for posting!
I specifically remember the day that I attended the premiere of Avatar in 3D in my hometown. I was 7 years old and I've never experienced so much emotion from a movie until Avatar. The amount of effort put into the creation of this movie is so insane. No other movie with this much CGI can even come close to the visuals that James Cameron was able to produce. The movie sets looked like absolutely nothing, but James had a vision that no one else could see until he pieced it all together and brought it to life. I've been waiting 13 years for this sequel to release after many delays but FINALLY, it's coming this year. I've never been more excited for a movie, let alone a sequel, to be released.
For me it is the only movie I have seen so far which really needs 3D. And the only movie you only really understand in 3D and in the cinema. You are in Pandora, you feel Pandora, the movements, the beauty, the joy. The soul of nature.
When I saw this movie. I was blown away by the visual effects. I get it. The story was very much like Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves. But it should be looked at as how mankind has done it in the past history before. Mankind has always been territorial and always looking to expand like an empire. I sure hope this movie delivers because now the audience will pay more attention to the writing and story.
Luckily I have only watched Avatar yesterday, so hopefully I only have to wait for less than a year for the next Avatar movie. I can’t image how the others feel for waiting for more than 10 years! already knew all the plots but still couldn’t get my eyes off the screen at all. It was really so great!
This makes you really appreciate the work that goes behind the scenes of movies like Avatar.
It doesnt
All this proves is that they didn't need the actors.
@ChiliCheeseD0g I actually thought that the actors were used only for their voices. I didn't know that they did so much CGI
MrFeast Playz ❤️👏
@iamtasn 👍

Really?😱😱
He want to make this movie in 1997, and released it in 1999. At the time it was going to cost over $400 million. So no company, wouldn't risk that take.
He must of got the idea when he watched dances with wolves
@stryfetc1 Exactly he also invented some of the stuff/method just for this film since he wasn't satisfied for the 3d animation that time so he improved it and now became the standard in film making same things happen to Avatar 2 reasons why it also took longer for Cameron to begin filming..
Honestly, I slept through the second watch. It was not that great.
Considering how long ago this film first came out, I'm still surprised at how well the graphics looked, even for 2009. You can tell there was so much time and work put into this film. Making it an iconic masterpiece. I bet the second film will be even better.
Just imagine how its going to be man!!! 🔥🔥🔥
James Cameron has always been ahead of his time. He's at least 10 years ahead of every other director when it comes to technology.
I’m so excited and hyped!!!
Yes , I don't like how directors rush with John Wick 3 and kill this movie
The first one came out right when HDTV, Blu Ray, and 3D films were getting popular and it was the first film to really capitalize on all of that at once. Many theaters actually bought new projectors specifically because of Avatar. The 2nd one won't have those advantages so no I don't think it's going to be nearly as mind blowing. The fact that this movie was from 2009, I can't imagine the motion capturing and the tech would do in Avatar 2 and later movies
well, you're about to find out. Avatar 2 trailer to be shown in cinemas before Doctor Strange 2 screening.
@filiplanga7237 and when is that?
May 6th, so 3 days from now
@filiplanga7237 hope i can see it soon then, since today is the 6th
@filiplanga7237 finally released
Only Zoe could have brought Neytiri to the level she did. World class performance from her, throughout, from the shouting to the smiling, to the looking, to the crying. She nailed it! Can't wait to see her again in December
Well said!
It’s a cartoon for god’s sake, not a real person
@drawntofashionillustration9596 shut up
@drawntofashionillustration9596
Wtf r u saying he talking about the actress who played neytiri you’re the dumbest person I’ve ever seen
@drawntofashionillustration9596 its literally her face lmao. Its her smile and eyes
The incredibly beautiful world of Pandora created by James Cameron, which you want to visit more than once. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has Neytiri as their favorite character. Zoe Saldana played this role just perfectly beautiful!
Pandora is a really pretty place, I wish though it were real, it seems like a nice place to live in if you know how to survive
@Play_box454 It is real! It's called the Pleiades. And Earth will soon look the same, once we all remember that we are one with nature as well. We will swim with the whales as we did during the time of Lemuria on Earth. It's all there, just believe :)
i thought you said Zoe Salmonella for a sec
Yes! Zoe plays her perfectly, can't wait 2 c the sequel :)
@Rianne1313 bruh what in earth's name did you smoke? The halucinating mushrooms must kick in pretty hard lmao
Avatar 2 would break the record of all movie box office collection like the first one.
True
Is part two ever really going to come out
@yup_im_tiff In 2022 i think
@alexandra9944 but they’ve been saying that for yearssssssss. I’d love to see it but ima believe it when I see a release date
@yup_im_tiff Lol true
I was 9 years old when the movie came out, watched it at age 15 and now I am 21 and still impressed by its high quality
I was 5 then but watched at 16
I was 4 when it first came out watched it at 4 lol
I did watch it again when i was 15 tho
I was 8 and it’s coming out when I’m 21 😭
Same bruh
I was 8 when it came out, watched bits and pieces for a couple of years (the not-so-scary ones :p), then at 11, my parets finally allowed me to watch the whole movie. Thought it was the best birthday gift ;D
The best 3d experience you'll ever have in a theater. You felt like you were there
just watched the remaster yesterday, 3D 4K. one word: incredible
It was actually the worst experience I’ve ever had in a theater. The changing frame rates were awful. Hated the entire 3+ hours.
@antimaxsmacks still you’re here. watching how it was made
IKR I watched it just recently omg I am speechless
The graphics are so super goodddddd
Dude....
you are everywhere
gago andito ka na naman
Yes 👍
Look who it is
"You definitely don't want to tick Neytiri off."
Oh, that aged like a fine wine.
Rly tho
😂
Thank goodness for the thick suits and CGI... so ya don't have to shoot a paintball at Jamie Flatters with a bare chest... or ya know, like Alec Baldwin, actually kill the poor schmuck in real life.
Avatar will remain the benchmark for film innovation for years to come.
Dislike this movie all you want but you can’t deny how incredible the visual effects are. Just that alone makes this movie a 10/10
I’m 14 and I’ve been loving this movie since forever, I watched this movie before I barerly could read, I’m so so so SO excited for avatar 2 and the effects and editing is AMAZING
Ikr, I want more movies like this
@juni4743 bro if you're 14, your forever cant be too far back
Yes I can. I'm more impressed by old movies like Jurassic Park than I am by this. The CGI here isn't even that good... it's quite mediocre, and they do nothing to hide it.
@zzenith9846 Facts
I was 7 when my dad took me to see Avatar, and I loved it so much and couldn't wait for the next movie to come out, can't wait to see what James is planning for the upcoming Avatar movies
Who said there will be avatar 2 ? No thing is coming kido . Avatar was only one time movie
@Lycansrule eh man she cant be kid if she was 7 more likes you are and its confirmed its gona be they already finish recording it ...
@Zorky where is it confirmed? I'm super hopeful for this, LOVED the ...first? Only?
" we're filming the rest of the live action in New Zealand. We have about 10 percent left. Avatar 2 is one hundred percent and Avatar 3 is some 95. "
It should be 2 3 4 5 and end
Extreme skillset from the actors, being able to mentally take themselves out of such a goofy looking scenario and still deliver a meaningful and powerful performance..
Lies again? CG Animation
Right?? They nailed!
This movie was ahead of its time
Yes 🙌
@ColliderBehindtheScenes hello
Avatar never fail to amaze us even with the new sequel. Some movies’ sequel actually became not as good comparing to their first movie but Avatar literally make a whole fascinating plot that actually gives the movie a new look to it.
Lol if you pay attention it was basically a copy paste movie of the original. I enjoyed some scenes but all in all it was a little too kiddie for me.
@N-e-o1 if u actually paid attention... the 2nd movie was much better than the 1st one and also how was it a copy past of the original... they only took the part where humans and the blue guys fight
yes!! 😍😍
wow. The fact that they made it seem realistic while being chased by a tennis ball shows how good their acting skills are
CGI used in avatar is much much better than CGI used now. Such a master piece 💛
that doesnt make (any) sense....
I don't even remember what the movie was about. Im 23 so i wasnt young enough to forget but i do remember the visuals. They still look good to todays standards
The movie is about a male human betraying his kind to have wild woopy with a very tall female smurf... 😁
@MrBlindbird and for his working legs and johnson.
@Loreless 😂😂 u guys
We watched this movie in my environmental studies class and It was amazing nostalgia
Smurfs for adults
Insanely impressive how these people can act so well with something like a red tennis ball attacking them
😅😂😂😂👍🏽
I heard a new Avatar movie was coming out in 2022 or 2023. That's pretty cool.
Yes, December 2022!
Hope its true I've been waiting since the first movie for a sequal
20 years later or soo
Ok
@mryo6064 you must be good at mathematics sir
It must of been so difficult to even try and sell the idea of this movie. The work put into this is unimaginable and is honestly a historic accomplishment
I feel like he didn't really need to sell the movie that much, seeing as his films always make a ton of money
James Cameron always was ahead of its time. Terminator 2 came out in 1991. That was 18 years before Avatar, but it already had some impressive CGI. 2009 was also 16 years after Jurassic Park.
“Ominous floating rocks!?!” Lady, you are so wrong! Those floating rocks are so freaking awesome
CGI is an amazing thing I think it's awesome with what they can do
Very impressive 😍
The entire team put in their all to make this a success, they deserve accolades
I'll never forget watching avatar in the theater. Me and my friends were poor so we couldn't afford imax so we snuck in amazing 😹😅
Why you telling on us now?
@OwlCapone8630 posting my experience about avatar lol
@Anthony-fo8no say you and don't include us (your friends).
@OwlCapone8630 What do you mean? He did say him and his friends. What's so wrong with that?
...
Both Avatar movies are so good, I love the behind the scenes of the movies
this masterpiece was created back in 2009.
Imagine what’s waiting for us in 2022 in Avatar 2?
The technological advancements in CGI and motion capture are going to make the sequel movie a surreal experience.
Can’t wait for it!!
Z Saldana is so convincing. Pure talent. It's a slight shock to see their acting. Zoey nailed it 10/10
James Cameron is a great director. 👍🏻
I can’t believe that all these thing happened 12 years ago. Amazing 🤩
I’m am obsessed with this film and has always been one of my favourites
I really do hope to see another film
The Na'vi dance is the Maori Haka dance.
I love that Zoe says she feels like she's blue and 9 feet tall. It's the playing pretend and imagination we all wish we could do growing up. It's so awesome!
Shout out to literally everyone who had a hand in making this film! All the behind the scenes stuff is amazing
The CGI used in this movie in 2009 is still better than a lot of the CGI I've seen used in 2022. Such a masterpiece!
James cameron is the real hero of this era💫
This is absolutely incredible! 🤯Watching this and knowing what all went into it just makes the film that much more impressive. I just rewatched the first one to prepare for seeing the second tomorrow! I can’t lie, I have very high expectations for it but I’m excited! 😁✨🎉
how was it? i watched it and it was sooooo good
THE BEST MOVIE EVERRRRR
Honestly, it looks like acting for James Cameron is an amazing job. He seems to truly care about the actors experience and how that transfers to the realism of their performance.
After all these difficult things they came up with a Legendary movie and it's now become a series where James Cameron revealed that there's gonna be 3 more sequal of Avatar after this Avatar 2 😌
We need a fans cut. The CG capture of the movie. It would be like watching a play.
it shows how technology can convert simple scenes into super extraordinary ones.
The things Cameron makes are the most beautiful things
I feel like I'm going to die before the others come out
In the past, they have perfected CGI...now, with the new movie coming out, it improves upon perfection and it's looking gorgeous, especially the water simulations.
This movie 🎥 was shown by my school teachers in children's day party😊🎉🔥
they did more than just act they created the animations and the world characters incredible actors
I love that they used actual horses - that is so cute :)
avatar 2 was amazing i nearly cried
If Sigourney Weaver is the Alien Star, Milla Jovovich is the Zombie Star.
My brain is trying to process all of this. lol
Whos here after Avatar 2??
This what tech can do, create a new dimension of a world from the actual. That's why i so damn liked Avatar since the first time i watched.
I love Avatar it's one of my favorite movies and I love the cast ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ with all my heart
Cameron's mind is a magnificent mind
I can't believe this was made in 2009. It's insane how good it was
The avatar movies are literally the best sci-fi movies 🥰
Respect for these Actors, Stuntmen, All the crew members has nonetheless but increased after seeing their efforts. AVATAR is the Greatest Movie of all time hands down, let alone a piece of history to be remembered afterwards. We are lucky to have experienced such a intricately creative movie in person. This movie is awesome! I'm looking forward to avatar 3!
Real Magic! Seems like the entire movie was just shot in a studio...
*I DIED LAUGHING WHY THE HELL SOME OF THESE BEHIND SCENES SO FUNNY??😭*
Hats off to the Creativity, Vision and Hard work of James Cameron. This man is always way ahead of time. Starting from terminator
james cameron ar really the best director of the world
The scene with the water she drank out of is a water bottle which is so fascinating to me
That is BY FAR my most favorite movie!
This movie is still my favorite to this day it is beautiful
Avatar is a classic. I can watch it over and over.❤
James is the best director of all time...i am so amazed with all of his works!!

Это просто фантастично.. В павильоне снять такой фильм
. Это здорово, это супер, это высший пилотаж!!! 🔥👍
Seeing the unseen is incredible by James Cameron
I specifically remember the day that I attended the premiere of Avatar in 3D in my hometown. I was 7 years old and I've never experienced so much emotion from a movie until Avatar. The amount of effort put into the creation of this movie is so insane. No other movie with this much CGI can even come close to the visuals that James Cameron was able to produce. For me it is the only movie I have seen so far which really needs 3D. And the only movie you only really understand in 3D and in the cinema. You are in Pandora, you feel Pandora, the movements, the beauty, the joy. The soul of nature.
Amazing video 👍
Dances with Wolves... IN SPACE!!!!
I LOVE IT SO MUCH
The whole Pandora at night time. luminescent with vibrant colours.
Самый лучший фильм!!! Джеймс Кэмерон.. Низкий поклон.. 👍👍👍
I didn't expect the 2nd movie to be such a massive step up for facial animation but it really was.
0:15 With a princess like this, is it really necessary all the CGI?
3:35 "Do not underestimate the power of a Tenisball on a stick"
It took lot of time to shoot it. 😳
Every scene was so constructive by director
Who is here 2022
Awesome performance 🤩🤘 it's a memorable movie 🎥 next
No joke 🙄 it takes more effort and challenges to act 👍🏻
My wife and I watched the sequel and its everybit as good as the first.
When I saw this movie. I was blown away by the visual effects. I get it. The story was very much like Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves. But it should be looked at as how mankind has done it in the past history before. Mankind has always been territorial and always looking to expand like an empire. 🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 68 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 ❤ 🎀 ❤ l adored the 1st movie and really look forward to more.
Watched movie today, it was AMAZING!
This makes you really appreciate the work that goes behind the scenes of movies like Avatar. @
Eu sempre via Avatar como um sonho lúcido.
Essa era a sensação q eu tinha.
Just Imagine Cameron Working On Dragon Ball Z Live Action.
The best thing in the world 🌎
I literally felt this in the pits of my soul. Words can't explain. BRAVO!
Same its magical
the set is so chaotic to watch, I can't imagine how they did this into a global phenomenon.
Luckily I have only watched Avatar yesterday, so hopefully I only have to wait for less than a year for the next Avatar movie. I can’t image how the others feel for waiting for more than 10 years! already knew all the plots but still couldn’t get my eyes off the screen at all. It was really so great!
