Thank you so much brother!!! And please don’t think that I owe you a shout out for sure. I promise that I have one planned. I’m doing my own version of your smokeless fire pit this summer and I want to let my viewers know that your video inspired me. I wanted to do it last summer but time got away from me as usual lol.
That is gorgeous! No, I do not want to build my project in 19degree weather and I don't have a beautiful shop like yours but, come spring, I am inspired to build a gorgeous table like yours. Thanks!
Thanks for these video's, you've inspired me! I'd like to add one note of caution when using the silicone form - if you need an exact size top, make sure you add the width of the form to the dimensions of your box. I made tops for a brick BBQ and wanted a 1/2" over-hang. luckily I realized my mistake while mounting the form and was able to rebuild the boxes to compensate for the form. Thanks again!
Cool stuff. What if you are building a counter too large to mold and carry? I assume pour in place and trowel finish the top? Likely answered my own question!
This is so awesome Michael, I love it and how easy to get a live edge look. :) Your new shed is already seeing things come a live....🤣🤣🤣 I want to use this on my kitchen counter tops, the best part, I can do it in my cold garage, instead of waiting for warm weather. Question, can I do the river rock look through it by using less water and doing the same procedure you did with the mortar mix on the river rock bench.
Hi, I have 3 porch columns that I'm looking to make concrete caps poured around them with a edge like in this video. How would I build the form with a 6x6 post already in place?
Michael, I came across your first video not long after you posted it. Since then, my wife and I have poured vanity and table tops with great success. Question--do you think you could lay your reinforcement mesh before you add your second bucket of concrete? Just wondering if putting it in last leaves a half inch or so without any aggregate? As always--fabulous job! !
Great Job again. your videos are fun to watch and very informative.. thinking of trying the process for my outdoor kitchen counters. Don't think i want the natural color of the rapidset mortar. What color additive product do you suggest to get a very dark grey / Black???

The fire pit should have a space between the flame and the surface. Most will probably be fine. Make sure it's outdoor rated. If your flame is at an odd angle to the concrete, there are marketed sealers that claim to be excellent even for fireplaces.
@@raffikkiz thanks! My plan was to do about a shoe box sized block with a 2” x 6” sized slit to pour rubbing alcohol in to burn. Not sure how that would be with the sealant
Nice video as always. Have you tried Stain-Proof Color Enhancing Sealer by DryTreat. They boast a 5 year protection. It is a penetrating sealer and does darken the concrete a bit. It is not a coating and does not really add shine. I was disappointed at the outdoor concrete countertops I had poured. You inspired me to polish them and it turned out great (with a little trial and error). I used this sealer and am exteremly happy with the final result. Thanks for the inspiration! and tutoring!!
Michael I did 16ft of kitchen countertop with rapid set concrete mix and in one section at the end I was a little short and am trying to find what slurry to make that matches without having to screen the aggregate do you know which bag is same color without the aggregate.
Michael, thanks for the video, love the countertop and the explaination of the rapid set differences. Thanks to you i also have that bucket scraper and the mixer for the drill. Also curious if you feel that the rapid set mortar mix will hold up to the weight of the stove and some abuse from dropping wood splits on it . Thanks again for the videos great work !

I’ve watched a few of your videos trying to determine the mesh you put in the countertops. Is that just a metal chicken wire type mesh? I only see plastic mesh available for purchase for concrete counters.
As a Milwaukee tool guy, I have no doubt that it will mix up a bucket of mortar. But why not use a corded drill? I don't needlessly run them that hard unless I have to. Also a palm sander works wonders for getting the air bubbles out if the mix once poured. And concrete will freeze even though it's set up in the cold. The water is still in the mix and will continue to get stronger over time. When it's that cold it will eventually cool down and freeze. It needs to be at least covered and not placed over frozen ground, heated if possible even.

What you called a “star pattern” is very important when you’re forming the inside of a block-out and are pouring concrete on the outside of it. If you don’t form it in that “star pattern”, the two longer sides won’t hardly come out. (ESPECIALLY IF IT IS 2X LUMBER.) We used to call it “pig penning”.

How much time allowed to cure before polishing
Only One hour if you use Rapid Set. One week if you use anything else
Superb
What you called a “star pattern” is very important when you’re forming the inside of a block-out and are pouring concrete on the outside of it.
If you don’t form it in that “star pattern”, the two longer sides won’t hardly come out. (ESPECIALLY IF IT IS 2X LUMBER.)
We used to call it “pig penning”.
