THIS STREAM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT TRAINING
The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.
Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as an Airline Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.
If you happen to be a line pilot or training pilot you must not follow the guidance in this livestream, it is purely for non-professional computer simulated flight. Only consult your approved material from your respective operator.
Personal questions and queries regarding my employment status will not be answered.

Regarding the VNAV descent into Dublin - it looks like the sim is configured for geometric VNAV and your airline uses idle-path descent logic. At my airline in the last year we trialled geometric VNAV for six months however it causes quite a few other issues so we reverted back to idle-path. Like yourself, I much prefer idle path logic and find it far more predictable and efficient. However I believe it’s really only the 737 that uses such logic - Airbus and big Boeings all uses variations of geometric logic from what I’ve heard.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I can see why your operator reverted and we don't use it! It's not very practical or efficient descending at whatever rate of descent is required between two constraints! Hopefully PMDG will add as an option in the future, cheers!

Great. Now I need to buy those two sceneries. They look fantastic, and I love a nice short sector.

Captain, question for you after many hours of rather lackluster hand flying: do you have any tips for learning how to trim without the force feedback of the real plane? I find myself having a hard time figuring out how fast the trim would actually work and end up roller coasterering a bit. Is just very small flicks until you let go and the plane doesn’t move, or is there some other way?

    Good day
    Excellent video
What is your opinion of x plane 12 and MSFS -which has the more accurate flight model
And how do you compare Zibo mod vs PMDG
And which yoke do you recommend for either sim?
    Thanks

Is anyone else having trouble with the tca yoke? Randomly stopped working few days ago. Only switch that works is the right hat switch for camera. Can't trim or anything. Can still fly but sucks i can't do anything. Buttons are mapped but not registering. Drivers up to date. 400 pound is a lot to lose

Hi couple of questions if you don’t mind helping me out? Do you use a separate joystick to control the tiller? And how do you set the gear lever to off after takeoff, mine won’t allow me to manually do this (I think because the gear stick on the yoke is set to up?) Cheers!

I just have it linked to the rudder pedals! For the gear I was suggested a neat trick where you cycle it up and down quickly from one of members which I'll quote.
MSFS SETTINGS - TOGGLE LANDING GEAR - ASSIGN 18 (TCA GEAR LEVER) - ACTION TYPE - ON PRESS
"The Boeing yoke has a flaw in design coupled with the way MS2020 constantly polls switches. It has only one switch attached to the gear lever, and it is in the ON position when the lever is up. Therefore if you try and simply use logical assignments for the gear lever, you end up with a situation where when it is up, it will hold the gear up (as the switch is permanently on in that position) and you cannot set the gear to off as the switch overrides it.
Using the assignments above will simply use that single switch as a toggle, and will toggle the gear when the switch is hit (on), and why you move the yokes physical lever up/down to raise the gear, and up/down to lower it again.
By doing this even with the sims gear up, the yokes physical lever is down and so the switch is not in its on state. You can then set gear off with your mouse.
Obviously when using this method you do end up with the yokes physical lever down while gear is up (or off), but it's the simplest and best solution for now without the use of any third party software etc to try and control it.

I was curious about the Tolis A321. Do you need to download the fmc separately, or does it come with the files? Please let me know when you can. Thanks.

With regard to the comment in live chat by "kickedmycat" very early in the stream about having eaten half of the Maltesers, over here on the western shores of the pond, we call the exact same type of candy "Whoppers." Whoppers were a favorite of my father for many years. He never visited the UK, but if he had, I'm sure he would have liked Maltesers too.
