Probably wouldnt have beaten the 1985 champ Oklahoma but likely would have given them a tougher game than PSU did (who lost 10-25 in the Orange Bowl). Probably something like 24-17, 24-20, or 21-17. 1985 Michigan was the real deal.
This was back when the Big10, Big8, SW and Pac10 were the power conferences. The SEC and ACC we’re right behind them though. Now it’s flip flopped SEC, ACC Big10 are the power conferences with PAC 12 and Big12 trying to keep up.
Actually at least this year 2022 the Pac12 has as many top25 teams as anybody. Yes the bowls will be revealing but.........Also not sure where you get off saying the ACC is a power conference............Far fewer teams in the top25 than the pac12.

For all the people saying they look older back then: This is a phenomena that is due to culture. Because todays culture see these clothes and styles as “old” anyone who wears it is also seen as older. Basically because we relate the style to an older time period our brain adjusts ages to be older to fit our preconceived notion to go with the time period.

@@stedman8778 Illinois is a basketball school (fortunately now that it's almost December, unfortunately starting in mid April) and always will be for better or worse. When you consider who Illini have to recruit against for big time players(ND, Mich, & OSU ) it's not surprising when you couple their run of ordinary at best coaches w/that recruiting disadvantage that Illini are swimming against the current Football wise. One thing is at least in 90s for most of decade they had some real defensive talent,esp LBs. But this year under Bielema was a surprise & we'll see if he capitalizes on it.
