I was at this game with my cousins, grandma, and aunt. I was 7 years old. My aunt knew the Chargers then owner at the time Alex Spanos. We were invited to sit in the owners box and watch the game. We had an awesome view of the field and the stadium. I remember there being all this free buffet food on one side of the room and then you get your own personal seat to watch the game in during the game on the other side. The rest of the Spanos family was there, though I dont remember meeting Dean. I got to meet Alex though and chat with him for a bit. He was a nice guy from what I remember. We took a picture with him at halftime. Fun times back then. I miss those days. I gotta find that picture.
Looking at that "end career choices" panel is hilarious. Noe one ever expected him to appear in a super bowl and win a National Championship as a coach
As a Michigan fan, I say thank you to Jim Harbaugh for restoring the pride in Wolverines football. All love and respect from this UM football fan. Good luck with the Chargers #GoBlue #BET 💙💛💙💛
So, here we have Jim Harbaugh, quarterback of the Chargers, leading his team against the Raiders defense, led by Charles Woodson, from Michigan University, which Harbaugh would later coach, and then coach the Chargers directly FROM said university's championship season. What a world.
Fun fact: the Raiders did end up beating the Chiefs the following week, and although they didn’t make the playoffs they did deny KC a playoff spot by handing Seattle the division title on tiebreakers at 9-7. It was Seattle’s second and final AFC West title before switching conferences in the 2002 realignment.
I was there that day! Man, the annual home game hosting the Raiders was ALWAYS crazy -- fun fact, when the Raiders played back then, the crime rate dropped like 87% for the day!
Always been a big Harbaugh fan as a player and a coach. One of the toughest quarterbacks I’ve ever seen. The Chargers are lucky to have him. He will definitely test Herbert.
The Chargers are paying the equivalent of what it takes to build a new Stadium when they moved and pay for SoFi. They could've bit the bullet if they wanted to.
One of the reasons why Harbaugh has succeeded everywhere as a coach is the fact that he wasn't the most TALENTED player in the world but he had the smarts and those intangibles that you can't quantify. He knows the value of hard work and sacrifice. One reason why he could get away with such a hardnosed offense in modern college football is because he could point to his experiences and how you got to bust your ass to achieve the greatest goal possible. I think he'll do well in LA as he's just as able to have a high powered offense as he showed with the Niners and the early part of his Michigan tenure.
So ironic that I didn't know Jim Harbaugh played for the Chargers until last night but since then I've seen at least 40 pictures of him in a Chargers uniform in my online feed
I forgot and I'm an Raiders fan. Crazy thing is had that hail mary in the divisional rd in 94 been caught he would've played the Chargers in the AFCC. Guess it was meant to be
Oakland's kicking troubles all year led to them using a first rounder on Seabass in the following draft. Picked up Lechler later in the same draft, too. I'd be shocked if there has ever been a better kicker and punter combo taken in the same draft class by the same team
I remember being at that game with a house packed with more Raider fans than charger fans. Nothing made me happier than to walk out of that stadium, and watch Raider fans go away pissed 😤 off because their team lost to the Chargers. That win by Sam Diego knocked the Raiders out of playoff contention. It was a happy ride back to LA for me.
@AnthonyRodriguez-yg8xu Eventually the Chargers will gain a strong following in Los Angeles! Honestly I see no logic rooting for a team in Los Angeles like the Rams who abandoned all of Southern California for 20+ years you know! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Looking at that first half, the chargers back then were abysmal as they are now 😅. Fumbled snaps, picks, letting WR gain 90+ yards in a quarter. Hopefully Harbaugh can turn these guys into champions 🤞🏾
I've really miss the San Diego Chargers, but I've wished they need to bring it back. Los Angeles Chargers is not Home. The Chargers deserves to stay in San Diego.
A young Jon Gruden coaching the Raiders. I would have loved to be in the meetings room all week as he prepared for Harbaugh and the negative things he probably said to his team about Harbaugh as a QB. Too bad we never got a future coaching matchup between Harbaugh and Gruden
Harbaugh had a good NFL career compared to the average player that is even able to make it to the NFL. Think he would have had an even better career if he was on some better teams. Mike Ditka's Chicago Bears wasn't exactly the destination for offensive innovation. The Colts in the mid 90's were the closest Harbaugh would get to a stellar cast, and even then it wasn't very remarkable outside of Marshall Faulk. His best days were behind him by the time he landed with the Chargers.

Melin Olson , Dick Embierg ...loved the NBC/AFC announcers back through the 80s
Agreed. Very underrated.

Harbaugh was just launching prayers lol!
Chargers should have never left San Diego. That stadium was so loud in big games.
True. But San Diego voted them out because the taxpayers didn't want to pay to build them a new stadium.
And those uniforms are way better than what they have now!
Los Angeles is no home for the Chargers.

The legendary Don Criqui on the play by play. He called NFL football every year from 1967-2013, a record 47 consecutive seasons
47 consecutive years, that’s correct.
