Glad to see the update, Doug! Was a little worried. There may have been mistakes in planning but what you are showing is that mistakes can be corrected and the results are even better than before. Thanks
Great update, Doug - thanks. I think its' wonderful how you are demonstrating to younger modelers that a layout can change and evolve over time. Hopefully this will take off a lot of that "I have to get it right" pressure.
Doug, great update. The changes certainly make sense, and really change the look and feel. I think the planning mistakes is something we all make, the best intentions and all. Cheers, and stay safe, Michael
I love it, we would stay with my Aunt in Brooklyn, 70's and 80's, and I remember egg creams, baseball cards, and mostly, the elevated subway trains that passed just below her 18 story tenement. Every night they would pass, clickity clack, one had a cool graffiti depiction of Yosemite Sam pointing two six guns. The sights and sounds are still fresh in my mind, your layout is wonderful ✨️
Great video! Your layout has really transformed. The waterfront scenes are awesome and I can’t wait to order some of the details you offer. The pipe and hydrant will definitely be on my next order! Thanks for sharing your work Doug!
I really like this. At first I thought your style was too different from mine. But now I can appreciate what you are doing. You are nailing the look and feel of NYC. 2 suggestions - more newspapers. And please clip those coupler trip pins. 😎
Thanks for the update. I feel your pain and frustration. I to suffer from planning out the easy to reach areas and then trying to work out how to get the hardest to reach areas completed. I just tear down and get the hardest areas and then redo the easy parts to look even better than before. Keep the faith and keep up the fantastic work.
Coming on nicely Doug, can we have a video of a running session please? Would be great to see some of your PC/NH models making their way through the scenery.
It is looking very good, much more interesting the way you have laid it out now. Your artistic side definitely showing. I love that you show things you wished you had done differently, it makes me realize I am not alone. Thanks
I had an art teacher, Miss Stone, from 1969 - 1974 whose motto was "work with your mistakes". I've had to fall back on that in my personal life and other model builder.
Dear Doug, the tweaks to your layout you showed in this video make sense. Do remember saying in a previous comment that the track in the background had potential for a subway line. However, when it’s so hard to reach the tracks then it becomes obvious to change the plan. Humbly think the little subway diorama in the right hand corner adds a lot of ‘underground’ depth to the layout. Same can be said for the concrete viaduct and the elevated track you’re planning to build. The way the concrete viaduct visually ends the vista on the tracks beneath it is an excellent choice. Cool to see what kind of backdrop transitions you now are emphasizing on. Will definitely look forward to seeing these parts develop. Less is more as the saying goes. Also, with the layout at a relatively high level it’s much harder to see up front what kind of accessibility restrictions this level will bring. On the other hand from the straight up viewing perspective the higher level creates opportunities for more vignettes to draw the viewer’s eye. Cheerio
I love what you've done! Both your and Jason's Layouts are wonderful! There are similarities for both of you; but, different enough to tell the difference! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for the update! It's looking great, love all the details. I think shortening the yard was a good plan. Also, tell me about that Milwaukee t-shirt...
the front space next to the gun shop is perfect for a demolished building with a exposed basement full of junk and debris, oh and dont forget crossbuck signs for the track crossing the street. Cheers Rob
Great updates Doug, inspiring to see things get cut and evolve. I'm doing a similar era and themed layout in a much smaller space (2ftx6ft and 2ftx4ft in an L). Yours has been very helpful getting the 70s vibe as I was born in the 80s.
Hi Doug thanks for the update. You’re a great inspiration. When you showed the broken hydrocal retaining wall you moved a concrete railing. Can you give details on this like where you got it or if you built it yourself? Thanks again.
I enjoyed the update and look forward to new videos. I like the look of what is being done. I am going to be "that guy" though: the camera movement literally gave me motion sickness - sorry. It's like trying to play certain video games with my son lol.
Your layout looks great! recently discovered you, I model in N so your product is not viable for me but skills and ideas do scale. I have extreme space constraints so I am doing a modified T-Track system. I have so many Ideas for my layout that by using the modules I'm hoping to be able to reconfigure the layout differently every time I bring it out. I store it on a wire shelf bakers rack (2) one for modules one for scenery and buildings.
As always, great video. Everything is looking great. Love the subway and elevated line scene.
Looks like a lot of great work Doug!. Really like all those details.
Layout is really coming along and looks fantastic keep up the great work

Love you kits. Just wish they were in N scale. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see you back Doug.

Really fantastic progress, Doug. Loving the new additions.
Thanks Craig!
Wow, just wow!

I agree, the coupler pins ruin it! Will be cutting them soon.
Love all the changes! I really enjoy watching this layout evolve!

This is great, Doug.
I enjoy watching the updates on this nice New York City layout.
It's so inspiring as it gives me multiple NYC, modeling ideas.
Impressive work and very inspirational.

What amazing?
Layout thank you for sharing it🤠🖐🚂💭
Looks like you're making great progress. Beautiful work!
You can add a piece of nylon screen door mesh in the castings to reinforce the back them.

A gun shop in NYC? No way! Beautiful work, but that choice is definitely fantasy!

Great layout update..
Inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

I make each wall from a new mold made of foam core or gator board; I have a video showing how here:ruclips.net/video/-bWgAvxQHuU/видео.html
@@FosScaleModels thanks Doug but my question was on the railing. Appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thanks again.
that defect in the concrete wall is called spalling
thank you
Great update !!!!
I really like to Erie Lackawanna power yep structures are wonderful it really looks good
Grown men playing with trains......I want one a train....but with cars, every day is a potential 'Katzilla' episode...

I'm interested in using pipes to model water movement from land to river
Hi I’m interested in adding ambient sound to various areas on my layout. Have you ever done this?
Are those the cap47_ weathering jobs?
That style of graffiti and those writers are a bit early for the 70s
