- Jim Bowers is a fantastic modeler and kit basher. One of the most talented kit bashers I've ever come across. His HO scale layout although modest in size, approximately 14x20ft has a tremendous amount of detail and action. Unless you saw an overview of its size you would think it is much larger layout by watching the video. We will also visit a layouts Jim built for a friend in an upcoming episode . Jim also helps out at the train store Drauger's Derailments also featured on the channel. Please subscribe to the channel to help support it. There is NO cost to do so simply hit the subscribe button and like the video. If you need help with your layout you can contact me directly at alpug1@verizon.net
Holy guacamole batman... This is an AWESOME layout... SO MUCH DETAIL... This dude has some major talent and is so creative.
Totally loved the layout, forward the video to my son and a buddy. I also loved all the aircraft, beautiful collection. I was a crew chief/door gunner on a huey as a scout in Viet Nam 67 to 69 82nd airborne scout 69. Also went to school for my A&P mechanics license, pilots license and Flight Engineer and enlisted in air force as flight engineer on C5A/B and C142A/B aircraft for a total of twenty five years of military aircraft service. Trains and planes what a wonderful life!!!
Thank you for sharing your museum quality empire.
Thank you I hope you can all subscribe to the channel no cost to do so and it helps the channel
Wow. That's just unbelievably incredible! What a layout. Not one square inch was overlooked.
The amount of never ending tedious detail places this piece of art work among one of the FINEST layouts ever...Right up there with the South Manchester Hampton.
Awesome details throughout! The best kit bashing and scratch building I have seen! It really looks much bigger than its real size.
Fantastic layout! Every Sunday morning I like to watch model train videos and much to my surprise I am hearing names of places near my hometown of Myerstown! Decades ago my grandpa and I frequented a train shop set in a back alley in Annville.
The backdrops and the overall attention to detail are absolutely amazing!
Flatout Amazing ..... Hats off!!!!
Thank you 😮
@@JamesBowers-zt6mh You're very welcome!!!
Super nice layout with a lot of cool details. Jim Bowers did an excellent job...
The video is very well done also so Kudos to you both.

That’s just stunning. The backgrounds are so clever and believable. Really beautiful work.
That is a beautiful layout. Wow. Mr. Bowers is very talented. Thank you both for sharing. I really enjoyed your video. I'll search for others. I also love your knowledge of H.O. building kits. HA! that's great. I remember all those too! Thanks alot.
The most beautiful layout I ever seen Really, like the detail
What an unbelievable talent. It is so realistic and detailed, almost beyond belief.
The use of the old Exin Castillos vintage pseudo-LEGO castle blocks is fascinating. We had a bunch of those as a kids. I think my younger brother ended up with them.
Our son played D&D when he was young. He moved, and I used his blocks. I used a grinder and painted them to make them look old. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Absolutely fantastic a talented model railroader
Amazing scenery and buildings....but the B-52 flying behind the backdrop takes the cake! That is the definition of a "MAN CAVE"!
Very nice layout. The jet aircraft that looks like it is actually flying is a 737. A 727 would have an engine on each side of the fuselage on the tail section, and a third engine where the tail come up from the fuselage for a total of 3 engines. A 737 only has 2 engines, one mounted under each wing.
WOW !!! I also model city railroads. Jim Bowers layout is a masterpiece. I love the details and mini scenes
One beautiful layout. the level of detail goes beyond wow.
Absolutely amazing detail. This is one of the best layouts I've seen.
I noticed something on the wall and I just want to say, Ohhh Rahh, Semper Fi, Marine. Cheers from an old Marine Sergeant in eastern TN
Semper Fi, Marine as well.
Wow a lot of time involved in that layout looks amazing hopefully one day mine will be that good
How awesome. That's gorgeous 💕💕
Drop dead gorgeous layout and design,,excellent godliness details,,thanks for sharing..😊
Stunning!
Fantastic layout. Well done Jim. Thanks for sharing.
Very, very nice looking layout. I really appreciate your videos and listening to the modelers who build their layouts. I always come away with new ideas. And the willingness of the people who explain how they build and create things. It’s certainly made me a better modeler. Thanks
Outstanding. fine tour. thanks.
Born in Altoona, PA and raised in Pittsburgh(McKeesport and Homestead areas), this reminds me of both of them.
Love it 👌😎☕️
Butler chemical plant looks amazing ❤
gorgeous work
Thank you for the video. Very well made layout. I hope to see it in person one day.
Hello, very nicely designed layout, congratulations and greetings, Toni
That was amazing thank you🤠👋🚂🗯
Wonderful layout, very atmospheric and realistic!
I'm surprised that the Code Enforcement guys haven't cited Joe's Garage for all the junk on the town street. Nice job, Al.
Gorgeous!!
Very nice work and well-done layout, a lot of hours in that.
Fabulous!
That’s awesome !! Love it
Nice layout. Coal mine rocks.
Great video and incredible layout!!!
I love flying as much as trains. It’s a Boing 737-200
Beautiful layout.
That is flat out the best background I've ever seen. I know you explained how you got the layered effect with the bigger background buildings, but there has to be so much more technique, perception and skill involved. I'm not going to say that other skilled modelers backgrounds are inferior, but I've not seen one yet that truly captures the realism and the perfect homogeneous mesh between the building structures and the photographic background images. It's like comparing a Hunter Biden original work de art to the Mona Lisa. It falls just a tad short! VERY well done, Jim!
amazing work.
Great detail, awesome!!!
AWESOME LAYOUT
I think when nobody is around little people come out and live there!
Incredible layout. Love all of Jim’s scratch built buildings. Where did he say he found the photos of the tall buildings at the back of the layout?
Don't know hopefully he will answer
Thanks for sharing
Thank for sharing
On my pike, I’d have a railroad cop standing back while the taggers scrub the walls clean - with caustic cleaners.
Anyone know where to get that steel mill backdrop? And no, that IS a 737.
737 true 🙂
Awesome
Fantastic, but, where is it ?. Maybe we can visit him one day ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Would like to know a little bit about his signaling, train detectors, and the power source/throttle
All I know is that it is all dcc controlled
Unfortunately I have to disagree! It is a Boeing 737 200. The B 727 is a 3-engine airplane with the third engine on the tailplane. But the layout is so detailed. Congratulations. A lot of work has certainly gone into it
Nice
That United plane is a Boeing 737 200. The general aviation plane is a V tailed Bonanza
How do you keep it dust free?
It gets very dusty. It just looks like part of the scenery. I use a solft fine nylon paint brush to clean the structures as needed. Running trains keep the track clean.
Was a Boeing 737!
Can you buy or get Butterfly Trees?
I have not seen them offered for sale but they are harvested in the fall and Jim and I may be able to make a batch check back in September
That was not a 727. 727s have 3 engine at the rear.
737-200 :)
The guy across the street had a 20‘ x 20‘ train room in his basement. Other train enthusiasts would remark at how unbelievable it was. unfortunately, he passed away at the early age of 62. The wife gave a lot of stuff away and had two guys come in with sledgehammers and miniaturize the railroad even more so that it could be deposited into a junk container in the driveway. Question! What does one do with a hobby or a collection of valueless crap at some point in time? Nobody wants this stuff. people want to build their own stuff.
@micrometer100 Quality stuff is in demand and it's growing. If it's quality and we'll put together and beautifully done it will be in high demand. The layout it sits on is a different matter. Sometimes scraped many times saved.
@micrometer100 Quality is in high demand low quality isn't. I've seen and helped liquidate many beautiful layout that were saved. A beautiful coal mine like the one in this video can bring thousands of dollars if it's incredibly done.you just need to contact folks like myself who know how to go about selling it.Patience is also important when doing this. Again this applies to super high quality stuff. Mediocre or mass produced stuff wont.
Beautiful layout
