      Well, there is a catch here. The sweetness of the fruits can come from fructose (which tastes much sweeter than glucose at the same amount.) But due to the digestion path, the fructose goes to the hepatic portal vein after being absorbed. Thus it does not raise the blood sugar count like glucose. This, of course, does not mean you can eat lots of sweet fruits. Just want to make the point--sweeter fruits do not necessary raise blood sugar count than the not-so-sweet fruits at the same amount. In fact, if the not-so-sweet fruits contain more glucose (and less fructose), then they can actually raise the blood sugar more (than the sweeter fruits at the same amount).

    At 73 and as a relatively recent captive to this modern Plague World of Diabetes, I have come to the conclusion that this subject has created more Contradictions in eating advice than anything else I can remember!!! However, I already tried to give up Bread, Pasta, Grains, Potatoes, Sugar, and Fruit - as suggested by my health practitioners - and decided I didn't want to live that miserably :) But yes, I will now investigate Jessie's books and try some more hacks to find the happy balance :) RjB

    This video on glucose spikes by the "Glucose Goddess" is incredibly eye-opening! I never realized how much our daily food choices-like oats, fruits, and even "healthy" options like honey-can lead to glucose spikes, affecting everything from aging to mental clarity and even fertility. The practical hacks like starting your meal with veggies, adding vinegar, and focusing on a savory breakfast make managing glucose feel less daunting. I’m definitely trying these tips out. Thanks for sharing this valuable info-it's a game-changer for health-conscious people!

    Oxalates and phytic acids and lectins and pesticides and no seed oil. If you drink vinegar then a straw is needed, with some days of to avoid stress on kidneys. There should be some changes and also fasting several days to avoid sugar and starch. Oxalates can be used with a fasting protocol to reduce carcinogens but not too often in a week.

      Or you can mix them with something lime chickpeas. Those are very neutral in taste and won't affect the oats much but as beans they probably have the GI of zero and will stretch the glucose spike in time. Lowering it thereby.

    I started watching these type of videos, around a month ago, i eat a lot of sugar and i mean a lot each day, so i wanted to change my diet and start to be healthy, cutting down on sugar, chocolate, cakes etc and eating more nuts, veg, changed to Coconut oil for cooking. But as i watch more and more videos from different experts, i am getting more depressed, so much conflicting post, eat this its good for you, then someone else , oh don't eat it ! Frankly i am getting fed up with it, and that is just after a month! We need some one to say this is ok that is not, and everyone agree? Maybe get all these experts on one panel and hear what they say and hear the argument for against!

Stay with it and be consistent. That's the only way to figure out what will work for you. I found that some type of whole food keto works best for ME. Stay with it until you figure it out. Thank you for sharing this invaluable video! I have to change how and when I eat Oats ... usually at night (stopping that). I would add dehydrated raisins, cranberries, blue berries, pineapple, peaches - sometimes, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and pour boiling water to cook it in a small bowl, with a dash of aromatic bitters. I drink warm Lemon water first thing in the morning. I eat lots of fresh veggies, three times daily, especially Lettuce, Carrots, Cucumbers and Tomatoes. For breakfast, I add it to two slices of whole wheat bread with, sometimes, a boiled egg or low cholesterol butter for breakfast. Now, I know that I need to eat the fresh veggies before the starch.

    This is what I have learned since being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes two weeks ago. It isn't the amount of sugar you eat in a day that is the sole culprit here. It is the amount of sugar in a very short period of time. For example eating a chocolate bar twice a week is fine but eating that same chocolate bar twice one after another in a single sitting is harmful. Also eating and drinking stuff with sugar in it on an empty stomach is far worse than eating that same stuff when you have had fibre. It is the fibre that acts like a filter slowing down and dispersing the sugar evenly flattening the spike as the sugar is introduced into the blood stream. I have started to weight my meals heavily towards meat. I always try to have a vegetable base in the meal that I ALWAYS eat first. This is important the veg first. I also completely stopped the biscuits and sugar in coffee. I drink more tea and water. I limit milk to a pint a day or less. Sometime none. On the weekend I allow myself a treat.

      Vinegar. Adding a tablespoon of vinegar to a glass of water and drink before the meal. In fact, it is vinegar added to the meal, like a salad , that has a small reduction of the meal GI. If you are eating low GI foods, it won’t make that much difference. This video has a lot of misinformation about diabetes and its management.

      Your right. Dried fruit has only water removed. The prob with dried fruit is the amount eaten. You’re looking at ~30g or an oz being equivalent to a fruit serve. Adults can usually have we serve of fruit a day. Excess fruit serve can led to weight gain, and in diabetes, poor blood glucose control. Some of her info is very wrong. At least she is rich now

    • @luisv007

      @@bramblebop1904 You previous said that dried fruit is just fruit without water. You can’t create extra sugar from nothing. Doesn’t that make sense? It is an apricot without the water. If you can eat 2-3 fresh apricots, isn’t 2-3 dried apricots the same, except it has the water removed. You need to brush your teeth twice a day. Any carb in your mouth is food for bacteria. Where is your logic? You can’t think for yourselves? Where has your country got to?

    Up until a couple of years ago, for a long time I’d been eating oat flakes with oat milk for breakfast. It was tasty and filling and I’d been led to believe that oats were healthy and good for the heart, it even said so on the cereal box; this is referred to as health washing (oat milk is particularly bad because it’s blended with seed oil to create the smooth texture). After some time I noticed that I wasn’t feeling great, my skin was terrible and my weight had increased to the point I was in the obese category. As well as breakfast, my diet was generally sub-optimal so I began to investigate further and discovered many of the issues and solutions covered in this video. Applying these solutions made a massive difference; my weight is in the ideal range now and my skin is vastly improved. I can thoroughly recommend following the principles mentioned here.

      Oat milk? I still don't understand why people prefer this to cow's milk (as long as they aren't lactose intolerant or have milk allergy). I found your comment interesting because I found most of the information to be misleading. True oats (steel cut or rolled) still can make a very filling breakfast and are low GI. Apart from changing your breakfast, no other information here would be significant enough to make you get the weight off. This video is more to do with helping people to attain better diabetes control than weight reduction. I find that baffling. Maybe you could explain this?

    • @HarryR1
      @HarryR1 7 дней назад

      @@luisv007 I think that oat milk is promoted as a healthier alternative to cows milk and I fell into this trap, rather than it being a preference either way. The oat flakes I also ate for breakfast were essentially ultra-processed food so, combined with oat milk, it was not an ideal way for me to start the day from a diet point of view. This was just part of a wider realisation that much of my diet, and the impact of sugars, starches, alcohol and refined carbs generally were the cause of my metabolic health issues. As I mentioned in my earlier comment, my diet was generally sub-optimal. So, as I researched the effects of this, I began to understand the impact on the liver (I had been diagnosed with fatty liver), the mechanisms that caused this, inflammation and insulin resistance etc. and this caused me to completely to change my diet to avoid carbs as much as possible or use the food sequencing or combining techniques referred to in this video. That, along with eating more fibre-rich whole foods was the reason for the weight reduction. I was approaching this from a point of view improving metabolic health rather than just diabetes control as I didn't believe that was factor for me. However, had I continued eating the way I had been, then pre-diabetes followed by type 2 diabetes would have been highly probable. I think the content of this video is helpful for everyone concerned about diet quality and it has wider implications than just diabetes control. I hope this clarifies my views.

      @luisv007 6 дней назад +1

      @@HarryR1 Thanks for your reply. I think that people see these alternative milks as a blessing, but they’re not a natural product. With regards to the oat flakes, it is difficult to comment on because I haven’t seen the ingredients and nutrition panel. Being diagnosed with fatty liver is a combination of your weight and your insulin resistance, as you had prediabetes. Carbs, particularly sugar, and alcohol don’t help that. Your diet was the cause of your metabolic problems and getting the weight off is primary in the reduction of insulin resistance and catabolism of fat in your fatty liver. A high fibre diet helps with your blood glucose control and with weight reduction. A spoke about the misinformation in the video. Usually when you eat foods high in fibre, you are also getting better types of carbs. Fibre and carbs go together in foods. Only human refinement of carbs leads to the loss of fibre. You should be very proud of yourself to get to where you are. You did all the hard work. As a nutrition professional it is always good to see people take the initiative for change. Even though the information that she presents is not always right, it makes changes that are helpful. She has a background in biochemistry. I also have that background but I also have pure chemistry, food chemistry and nutrition. Her knowledge of reading food labels and composition of food is poor. In another video, where she shares her approval and disapproval of food products, but her reasoning is misleading. Weight resistance training, like picking up packets of food, is very helpful in improving insulin sensitivity. Thanks and Good luck.
