I work in a fish plant here on the island. Sometimes people will just break out singing this song for no apparent reason and it never fails to make me happy.

I’m from the main land but my mothers side of the family is Newfie. I used to visit Newfoundland a lot, my mom works here in Halifax so I don’t go back there often anymore. When I was younger I would take trips with my grandmother to Roseblanche in Newfoundland and she would always put this song on in the car. I’m 15 now and my grandmother has gotten sick a few years ago restricting her from travelling. I forgot all about these old songs she would always put on in her car when we drove. This is the first time I heard this song since I was younger and it’s bringing back memories and vibes from the past. I don’t know what the future will hold for my family but I hope I get to go back there eventually.

Same here buddy all my uncles and aunts on my moms side play these songs on the guitar and squeezebox I have many many amazing memories of these songs in my childhood I'm 25 now
i have been to newfoundland six times to visit an aunt and uncle and have always wished since that i would have been born there.Great culture and the people are the best and true to the heart.
Reminiscing about home...While Newfoundland is not my home, I still think about my home, and miss it very, very much.

Actually it is not the same melody as Que Sera, however it's a very common waltz tempo use in many many songs.
I wouldn't say 'stolen' - but, yeah I think Que Sera, Sera every time I hear it.
