Only a Newfoundlander can truly understand the the draw we feel for our home. It’s like a strong magnet that pulls our hearts and souls to that beautiful island in the cold Atlantic. The smell of the air greets us and the dark waters reminds us of our limitless love for a place so few even know exist.
I'm a Torontonians born and raised. Just want to tell all Newfies we love you and I couldn't be prouder to share a country with a beautiful culture like yours. Can't wait to go back.
I'm a Newfoundlander living in the states. Right now at q truck stop in Carlisle Pa watching this video. I cannot describe what's going through me right now other than it's got to be God.....
Isn’t it amazing?! I’m a Newfoundlander in Ontario. I haven’t been home for 9 years. My mom just passed away 4 days ago back home. It was too sudden for me to go home so I’m mourning at my home in Ontario. Seeing this is making me miss home and my family so much, and of course my mother. But it’s brought a smile to the face for the first time in a week. You can take the Newfoundlander off the Rock, but you can’t take the Rock out of the Newfoundlander :)
@@DaniHMcV so get this, my Mom passed away will be two years August 25th back home. I was blessed to make it just in time to be by her side. I live in Toronto, unfortunately. Thinking of moving home more all the time, anyway back to my story. So being Sunday morning I'm thinking of her and I decide to play her favorite song Gray Foggy Day. I noticed this video of the kitchen party below and decide to watch that instead. Where does it start off but right where I just left off listening to the same song on the other video. As well this all happened at 9:11, which is what I call my angel time, my whole life I've noticed it day and night, on license plates, whatever. She's with me this morning. I thanked her for the sign. 😢❤️ My condolences on your Mom passing. They're in a much better place. We'll see them again one day.
Watchin this reminds me how proud I am to be a Newfie, wit all our money and economy issues aside, buddy ya won’t find any better singers den ‘ere on da rock bhys
Just came across this and am absolutely stunned by the music foremost but also that young lad, I thought someone called his name, Liam Corrigan, and what a voice. Newfoundland, I honestly didn't know that you had your own music, love it, and being irish I like all sorts of music but I will be delving more into it. God bless you all and thanks for this. Heartwarming.
Grey Foggy Day I knew. It was the second song that I was looking for the title which I learned was Capelin Time and I have since got the music from Bill Wiseman. I wish I could play the button accordion like Sheldon Thornhill. I started playing when I was 90. Be 93 next BD.
Moved from Ontario to Newfoundland 22+ years ago after a great career in the military. Truth be told, I hated living here for the first few years and vowed to leave many times. I never did leave Newfoundland.. This is my home now and I love her endlessly! We are a hearty crowd and fiercely protective of our province!
Love button accordion music and Newfie singing. Re the last great song. It sounds adsolutely great but the audio is hard to make out. What is the name of this song? Sounds like, "Take me home......". Liam has one great voice which blended well with the well-played music of Sheldon Thornhill on the accordion and Sean Sullivan on guitar. Imagine the great listening pleasure if this could be recorded in a studio. It would be great if this song would be available on CD featuring the trio of Sheldon Thornhill, Sean Sullivan, and 10-year-old Liam Corrigan! They are a great combination. I have watched this RUclips video many times and will continue to do so.
This place is the key to skipping the nuclear apocalypse, newfoundland is 10 years behind the world so I go there, wait 10 years, go back to mainland for a rebuilt society.
I remember my first trip home. I was 8 and it was me mom, Nan and sister. Was supposed be Philly to Toronto then to SJs. We had an issue with a thunderstorm and had to stop In Cleveland. Before landing in Cleveland i barfed lol. We’d get to Toronto and our connecting flight had a bunch lads going home. They ummm “rambunctious”?
I saw "The Shipping News"... the term Newfie was used and no one got upset. An off beat cooking reality show guy used the term "Newfie" and had to apologize for using the term. QQ: is this "another N" word??? I plan to go to Newfoundland soon... some one clarify please???
@@briancrowley6413 Depends how it's being used I guess and outrage only ever occurs with how its portrayed in media but no its typically not considered offensive to call someone from Newfoundland a Newfie it's a lot quicker then saying Newfoundlander.

It's great to see the newer generation sing these types of songs that kid nailed it
If you've never been to Newfoundland, go as soon as you can... The best people in all of North America. Can't wait to go back!
Heck ya! That's why I moved here this year!

When the plane touches down in Deer Lake would be my request.
