I was in St Johns on business in 2004 and found myself on George St so I wandered into Bridie Molloy's and Ron and his son were performing. What a treat! I listened to their three sets and enjoyed every minute, and bought their CD. Just wish they'd come to Maine some day. This is such a great tune.
Takes me back to the 70's and 80's, the wonderful summers I spent along the south coast of Labrador. Batteau, Black Tickle, Spotted Islands. What wonderful people and beautiful places. Memories forever!!!

Legend has it that the name of the community comes from the first European settler, possibly a deserter of Captain James Cook in the early 1750s. The community is shaped as an inlet and in those days it was called an 'Arm'. The deserter - Joseph Batt settled here and the locals like him so much that they gave it the name Joe Batt's Arm.
Its quite possible. I never lived there but my parents grew up in Fogo. There are some interesting books on the history of Tilting and Fogo with a lot of family historys in them that might help you out. This one in particular: "of fish and family" by John Greene
I wonder if i would be related to them? When my family left Ireland we settled in Fogo and later went to the Grey Islands.During resettlement the family moved to Conche,NFLD.
