$10 Yard Sale Toaster Worth $100’s Will it FIX ? What could go wrong !!

Is it even possible to fix a toaster with a few tools at home on the table in the basement? This Smeg toaster was blown out and requires quite a lot of work. I do not advise doing this at home?
