You should make a disclosure that you are not licensed insurance consultant, agent, or broker, and people should advise with a trusted licensed professional, after watching your video.
AS A LICENSED AGENT I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH THIS VIDEO...THIS IS A VERY GOOD VIDEO....licensed in 45 states*** i can understand your concern that some1 may ASSUME she is licensed although she has never mentioned or stated as much
jerome junior as a licensed agent to A LICENSED AGENT IN 45 STATES, I agree, this is a pretty good video. But as A LICENSED AGENT IN 45 STATES, you should know that someone in the position to be called influencer , must be careful with what they say, since it can be interpreted as direct advice. So making disclosure is going to give at least a layer of protection to Justine @Debt free millennials.
That's why I pinned your comment.
Licensed in 45 states ?? I don’t believe you based of the comment that you liked this video. So you paid like over $45,000 to get licenses and you pay tens of thousands to renew your licenses ?????? You drove to 45 states to get licensed ?? I m licensed in CA
You don't need a license to give advice like that. These licenses are made up to create barriers to entry
Amazing!! I am 26 and I still don't know how to adult, so this was VERY informative!!
I'd say you're adulting well if you made a point to look up car insurance info. It's not as straightforward as it should be! So glad you found this video helpful :) Love hearing that!!
I am 28 and I still cannot adult. This video helped me. Now I feel more grown up !
Michelle Baltazar yeah same here
46 still learning
Same sis and I’m 27 just figuring stuff out as I go
Didn't realize how much my insurance company was screwing me over until I watched this and started shopping around. Thanks for the info.
As somebody about to turn 30 in 2 months and is JUST about to buy their very first vehicle, this video was perfect. I was drowning in the most aggressively toned 'what not to do when buying a car/car insurance' videos that were just making me feel worse for not knowing these things. Your calm voice and very relatable advice really helped me figure a few things out! All while not feeling like a total failure... 😅 Genuinely, thank you so much!!
I’ve seen/heard a lot of videos about this subject. They’ve all been good, but yours was exceptionally easy to follow and clear and simple.
Oh wow, thank you!!
I agree!
If you raise your deductibles be sure to have some kind of savings account or sinking fund for that difference.
Yup! I mentioned that's why the emergency fund is so so important!
@Olivares Silviano If you really want money saved under your mattress, consider instead of paper money to convert it to gold or silver long term. Short term it really does not matter much and you could lose money on conversion rates. BUT long term convert.
Hope it's ok, I'm a senior citizen but I did learn alot anyway. You explained really hard concepts so well. Thank you and hope it's ok you have some elders on board!
I was feeling very overwhelmed as this is my first time buying a car and looking into insurance so THANK YOU for taking the time to put this together. I really appreciated it.
Yay! So glad it helped.
Thank you for this! Doing my research before purchasing my first car. It's a little stressful but watching this video has informed me a lot.
What are you getting
This was a great Car Insurance 101! Very clear and easy to follow. I loved the real examples as well. Thank you!
Perfect timing! The email for my car insurance renewal came through while I was watching this!
OMG haha that's perfect! I also have the steps written out on my blog so you can check there when you review your renewal!
Thank you for keeping it simple! Bless you and family.
This was super helpful and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to explain!
Watching this in preparation for buying my first car and this was extremely helpful! Thank you so much for making something that seems so scary so simple to understand!!
This was a super helpful and concise breakdown of auto insurance terms. I feel that much more prepared to shop around for insurance. It’s tough when no one shows you how the system works. Thank you!
Omg soo helpful! I am new to all of this so I am grateful for this video. ❤ I love it when you showed examples of what you did and comparison of the numbers. Most importantly, listing the todo steps. Thank you so much.
This is an absolutely amazing video! Thank you so much for this! I was so annoyed trying to figure this stuff out so I’m glad to have someone’s input who knows what they are talking about.
about to buy my first car (used, in cash of course lol) and was COMPLETELY lost in the sauce with car insurance. the video definitely helped to break it down. THANKS!
They don't teach us this stuff in school and after watching this I now understand my parents didn't give me the best advice either. This just helped me a lot.
Yeah parents are a huge let down in setting up children for adulthood. There's more to it than just getting education, great job, getting married and giving them grandbabies.
Outstanding video with clear definitions of the auto insurance policy and helpful hints on saving money. Good speaking voice as well. Bravo!
Totally understand and will try these steps thank you.
Thanks for this, I am on the phone chat right now with Progressive and listening to your video. The agent rep heard your voice in the background and she laughed and said she is 100% right. I raised my deductible from $500 to $1000
Simple and straight to the point!!!! LOVED IT!
Thank you!!
your videos have been the only ones to make any sense to me. you helped so much, thank you!
Thank you soooo much!! This was so helpful! I had no idea what coverage to get and you cleared it all up! Thank you again for the great video! :)

Helpful !!! Thank you for making this easier to grasp. Made notes and going to try Gabi now.

You're welcome!
Great video for Intro to Car Insurance!! Thanks so much for this! Well done :)
Thank you so much! I am buying car insurance today and this is so helpful!!! Clear, bright- love the notes and time stamps! I feel much better about choosing the insurance now.
I’m actually shopping around for Car Insurance for the first time and had no idea where to start. But this was by far the most detailed, thorough and best explanation I’ve come across. I’ve always looked to my parents for explanations like this as i got older but they are from a much older generation where they don’t really understand the technicalities of today’s modern society of how things work now and days. So this video gave me a lot of insight and knowledge i did not know or could comprehend about car insurance. Thanks to you ive taken a step further to begin my car insurance process knowing what to look out for to get the best and most affordable car insurance there is. Thank you. Great video! 👍🏼
Awesome! I'm so glad you found it helpful. It was helpful for me too, because I had no idea how car insurance worked in the past.
Agree it’s so confusing to do anything
Are you reading my mind? I literally have been talking about this for the past few days!! Thanks for sharing!
Haha, it's literally been on everyone's mind! I hope this helps and keep me posted if you were able to save.
Thank you. I've been driving without insurance for a while because I just didn't understand it at all. Thanks for explaining it for us!
This was very helpful. I watched it twice. Thank You for making insurance terminology more understandable.
Thanks for making it understandable because I have always been confused by it even when explained by an insurance agent! Whew finally I get it!
Yay! I'm glad you found it helpful 🙂
This video is exactly what I needed thank you so much. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you so much! This was a great and helpful video to understand how to shop around for the best insurance rates 👍
This video was incredibly insightful and gave me an excellent start to looking for auto insurance.
Man, that was the best insuance company advice class I ever took!! You explained everything in English (Lol!) and not insurance mumble jumble so that I don't understand it and yet still feel like what was being offered is the Best deal when in reality it isnt the best deal to CHOOSE. Thank You so much and I'm definitely going to subscribe to your channel.
Thank you so much! I wanted to make a video that would have been useful for me when I was insurance shopping.
OMG EVERY YOUNG ADULT NEEDS TO SEE VIDEOS LIKE YOURS!! Thank you so much!
Haha, thank you! I tried to make the video easily understandable so I could refer back to it when I need to make changes to car insurance.
I'm almost 19, this really helps!
FANTASTIC video! Thorough & clear breakdown. VERY beneficial!
THANK YOU!!!
This is really great, thank you so much.
This was very helpful. I’m currently trying to save on car insurance and was confused on how all this stuff works. This was the best. Thank you :)
you're welcome!
I am a new driver to this country. I used to drive back there however I just recently got my license. What do you think how will that affect my insurance pricing and how should I handle it ? Also, As of now I haven’t bought the car yet and I didn’t had any insurance before, so what is the best way to tackle insurance companies during such situations ? I really like your video. Huge fan as a new person to this country. Thank you so much !
Thank you for such a great and simple video
This was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you so much❤
good info for young adults to educate themselves about car insurance.
Thanks!
thank you! with your guidance I was able to find a savings of $61 per month, with much better overall coverage. Crazy. I think the high premium from my last policy tho had a lot to do with my bad driving record etc when I started with them.
OMG that's awesome!! I'm so glad you were able to get a BIG savings! $61 saved a month is huge. Congrats!
Thanks so much! You are very informative.
Thank you so much! This was so helpful and I feel I understand so much better now!
Thank you for making this video! Much appreciated. I decided to go with Progressive after getting several different quotes. I was about to just renew my policy without looking at other options (because eck...who wants to do the leg work lol). Glad I came across your video. Saving $500 + annually now. Thank you!!
OMG awesome! so glad to hear it!!
Thank you so much for this video, not sure if it's the same here in Canada but this was really helpful.
You're so welcome!
its not
@@DailyModernReels any video suggestion? I live in bc and I’m looking to get more educated about car insurance. Thanks
Here in Alberta
Car insurance is legalized
EXTORTION !
So helpful and easy to understand. Subscribed!
Very helpful video. Thanks Gaby!
I just graduated college & my parents rule was that I'd start paying for my insurance afterwards. I remember hearing about some of this information in driver's ed when i was 15/16, but truly at 23 I didn't retain much of the insurance part. This video was so easy to understand. Looking around for different quotes I've decided to go with Progressive, saving me +$400 twice a year, $800+ a year from State Farm! Thank you for creating this video and making my introduction to car insurance less intimidating!
SO happy to hear that, Jess!!
Thank you for teaching me about car insurance
You're welcome! Glad the video helped.
Nice Video!! It is so important to understand this stuff!
Hi, thank you so much for all the info! Going to download Gabi! 🏃🏽♀️
Thanks! This was very helpful. I was shopping around for a better rate with no luck not realizing that a few changes to my current policy could also save me money. I took a few of your insights and reduced my new 6 month policy from $1178 to $999.80. It was actually going up by $7 each month from my old policy but instead I got it down to more than a $20/mo savings from my old monthly payments!
Wow! That's awesome news! Thanks for sharing. It literally just takes a few tweaks and you can save a ton in insurance premiums. So glad you found this helpful!!
what went from watching random videos on youtube at 2 am, went to getting my notebook and pen out to write notes. i’m 20 years old and still don’t know how to adult. i wish i was taught this kind of stuff in school instead of taking classes for coding or film in which i absolutely never needed
Very helpful and clear. Thank you and you've taught me well. Bless you'll always. 😉
This was very helpful thank you. First time in a long time I am insurance shopping.
Thank you very much for explaining it to me. I am 66 with a spotless driving record. I will max my Liability and save some money.
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I'm a millennial and my parents just asked me to start taking over my own car insurance. I was SO at a loss for where to even start, so this video was INCREDIBLY helpful with helping me understand what to do! Thank you :)
Yay! I'm glad you found it helpful :)
So helpful, thank you so much!! This is my first time getting car insurance and this video made things less confusing for me :)
This video is so helpful 😍🙏 It made choosing car insurance much easier!
When you drive an older vehicle (and have a larger emergency fund) you can even self-insure for some perils. For example, I have a 30 year old Jeep and an 11 year old truck, so neither is particularly valuable. In Colorado comprehensive pays out mostly on glass damage (windshields). Older vehicles are barely worth stealing and floods are rare. By dropping comprehensive coverage I save enough every year or two to pay for a windshield. I replace one about every five years, so there is a net savings. I no longer carry collision either, but I do have Uninsured Motorist Property Damage coverage. If I cause the accident I have to repair my car, but if some turnip (uninsured motorist -- you can't get blood from a turnip) hits me then the insurance company pays. I have never had to use this coverage (or collision either, for that matter) in nearly 50 years of driving.
Obviously this advice only applies to those who drive older, cheaper vehicles and are willing to assume more (but not a lot more) financial risk. If you have a 1,000 dollar deductible you are going to be paying for your own windshields every time anyway, since they are only a few hundred at worst. It won't work for everyone, but it works for me. My premium to insure both vehicles is under one thousand per year total.
Very good info !
i was sitting here playing with the numbers for days, this video helped me get an idea, i just wish you had more visuals of lets say the estimate calculator they have on most insurance sites.. i went with no comprehension coverage in the end because the bill would jump up 100 + 'bucks.. I need them to be alot lower than they are now..
Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning to do more car insurance videos cuz I think this is one expense people tend to overpay.
Wonderful video, really appreciate this!
Extremely helpful! Thank you!!
Okay so I’m 14, Ik young right, but I’m really just trying to prepare myself early because school is just not doing it. And your are so helpful I was able to understand all of it and write it down without really any problems! You’re so helpful, thank you for making these videos😌
That is so cool that you are learning about car insurance now! I think if you keep learning about how money works, investing, college tuition costs, etc you are going to be in great shape once you graduate high school. And thanks so much for watching the video!
I think this was a great video that was perfect for BOTH people that want to understand the details AND for the people who just want you to tell us what to do.
Some remaining questions I had were....I know I'm going to get liability. But do people NEED to get comprehensive if I don't care about natural disasters/robberies? And if liability already kind of covers collision...do we NEED collision, especially if I don't really care about my old car. At what point is the extra cost for comprehensive + collision not worth it for what it covers?
Also some feedback, for young adults that are clueless like me. Everything made complete sense until terms like deductibles and premium came in. But after a few rewinds, I realized that the deductible is just what you always have to pay to initiate the insurance...and premium is just the cost of the insurance. I know it's kinda stupid, but it took me a bit.
Thanks for this awesome video!
Damn good questions!!
I Iove you I literally watched your video this morning to figure out my car insurance because they were giving me some crazy prices and you literally save me money over $150 when I change my collision in my comprehensive deductibles thank you
Thank you! You broke it down easy to understand. :)
thank you so much. i’m 17 and i’m really struggling to get my life together on my own and this really helped
I'm so glad this helped!
Hey Justine, I came across here doing some research on a vid I'm working on for insurance. Great Job overall. On your policy you should lower you Comprehensive deductible. It won't cost you more than a dollar or two a month, IF THAT, and could save you hundreds if you have a comp claim. I'm glad you pointed on maxing you liability limits, that is important for not only giving you better coverage but it helps on your renewals each year(especially if you re-shop with another company). Just a note you might want to add a disclosure when you're recommending these changes. Some Notes: No-fault states don't cover some of the things mentioned. Also, some states do not require BI limits, and you can go higher than 250/500 with a lot of companies(not Progressive).
Agreed! Brand loyalty is almost dead with the majority of companies. Def check out the savings with progressive in most states if you have a college degree, it helps. TIP: They highly rate the # of driver's in the home so if you have more driver's it makes a big difference.
Hey, thanks for the feedback and suggestions. You're right, some states are different on what they cover. Progressive is what I have so that's what's in this example. I'd be curious to know what insurance company you use.
Debt Free Millennials I personally have had Citizen’s insurance for several years now and have been happy with their service and claims (sadly, I’ve used it twice). I’m working on a video that will show the top discounts in insurance to look for. I might even go company specific.
There’s so many available, such as, if you have Geico and buy stock with Berkshire Hathaway you can get 8% off etc.. :0)
@@DebtFreeMillennials I second what this commenter said. I wrote a very detailed comment about why it's a very bad idea to have a high deductible for *Comprehensive* coverage, even though every thing else in your video was sound advice.
Thank you for this very helpful explanation
This video was really helpful cause I’m oblivious to this
And I want to start driving and getting insurance I wanna get the the best deal but also the best in the long run this really helped thank you 💕
I'm 39 years old and I've never had car insurance explained so clearly! Great video and tips. Thank you!
Thank you so much!!
I did the changes you mentioned and my rate went up by $152 per month! Did it happen to anyone else? Is it because I have been driving only for 2 years?
Oh no! Your driving history can play into your premium. Do you have any accidents or tickets on your driving record? That also can increase it. What state did you apply for insurance within? There are plenty of factors that could go into an increase. Without knowing who your insurance company is, car you drive, driving record, etc it's hard to determine.
I didn't have uninsured motorist insurance. That increased my rate over $200 per 6 month period. 😟
this was so completely helpful! thank you!
Love this video, thanks for the help!
I paid $414 for per month with Progressive!! I had 1 accident was my fault and 1 speeding ticket in school zoon. So what insurance company do I need to find the best lower rate insurance??
Holy cow that's a super high premium! I would ask Progressive how long you have to be in "good driver" status before they can lower your premium. I don't have a specific insurance company, but I used Gabi to help me identify a good deal.
Tickets are huge especially speeding through a school zone. When did you have the accident and speeding ticket? Usually they will drop off at 3 years.
You're most likely paying that much because of your accident and the ticket, you're considered a high risk. After 3 years it shouldn't count against you.
Excellent presentation! I'm utilizing all of your suggestions and can already see where I'm going to do better on my insurance. (I'm 66 with a perfect driving record). Speaking of "older autos" and safety. I purchased a 2002 Nissan Quest SE and have maintained it well. I've driven every van built, and mine is just better in every way (it's the perfect surf vehicle...and great for going on trips). It handles great in bad weather, ABS breaks, and is a quiet ride too. Thanks for taking your time to create this video.
Yes! Thank you. I appreciate your explaining this confusing issue so simply. You've been a great help.
Glad it helped!
We need the like and dislike count on videos again !!! lol
Im 18, just bought a car. Where should i start?
Video is very informative :)
You should start by figuring out how much car insurance you need. Just follow the steps in this video! LMK how much your premium is and what kind of car you drive.
Thank you so much!! This was so helpful!!!
You're awesome! I've been looking for this for years.
My car insurance is more than my paycheck
Halloffame P my too
then you need to shop your insurance
Stop getting tickets and accidents
Phillip’s Life sometimes it’s not even like that man I’ve never had an accident nor a ticket and my insurance is 600 a month for the lowest full coverage you can get she has it so cheap cause she is a female! Males don’t get rates like that until at least 26
Sell your car or get a cheaper one
Basically that $1000 deductible is telling the insurance company you are willing to fix minor fender benders out of your own pocket. Get a $100 deductible and your telling them your gonna call them for a parking lot door dent 😂
OMG yes that's so true!!
Very helpful and great information! Thank you!
Great information thank you it’s been helpful it will be more helpful for people who really don’t understand
So helpful👏🏻😊
Can you do an updated video on this?? I know this is from at least 2 years ago and was wondering if you had any new insight or new info you since then
Great video. Simple and concise. I just saved increased all my liabilities while saving money. Thank you!
Great video! Never knew this stuff. Literally searched “how to pick car insurance” and you popped up. Thank you!
Your video was very clear. Easy to follow. Good that you summarized the key point after each section and at the end. You made a good job at making it simple. Thx
Glad you enjoyed it!
