Ive got a friend that’s got a mafia. It was 275 US, and feels like it’s gonna fall apart. My $250 elite is one of the most dialed bikes I’ve ridden, and I assembled it in a dusty wood shop.
damn i been riding 10 years and i never seen that cable tie on the straddle, looks good tho i gotta test it! i used to run a bent spoke instead of a straddle and that worked out pretty nice being super stiff
In my opinion, it would be cool to have more interactive videos like this, especially the educational ones since we’re out of school 😆 They seem like they come more from the heart as well as all the riding you’ve been building back up with a Main twist which is onwards and upwards 👊
Some sick hacks there👍My little girl made me rewind the bit where your front wheel dropped to the floor about 10 times because she found it hilarious😂She's 5 in a few weeks and loves watching these vids with me, thanks for keeping us entertained Mr Main👐🤘
Here first SON!!! Looking steazy Harry!!! Keep up the awesomeness!!! And is it true you’re from Jupiter and that’s why you can jump so freaking high?!?
Alright Harry love your content and your BMX ...and DOWNHILL ....im a friend of Mark Webbie from Portsmouth ...such a shame you guys can't reach out and colab ...now that would be awesome ...yess lad 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 have a good evening ...Tony
Hi harry loved the video. Could you do a business styled video as a lot of people are looking to start their own business and making plans whilst in lockdown. I know you could give good advice from your own experience with your agency work and owna.
Bro! Awesome hacks! I have a couple questions if you don't mind....what cleaner do you remove the glue with? Also, what pads and cables do you run? Thanks!!!
Also ive found that skate wax (btw gulf wax from walmart is the best skate wax) lasts longer than wet lube. Every time i get a new cable i run it through my wax brick and every time i get a new chain i hot dip it in wax
Awesome video mate! I had a agency meeting with you last year and my business has really boosted since applying what I learnt with you! Also I have ordered a tshirt from your site on monday so hopefully I'll get it soon! Stay safe bud
I did variations of a few of these 18 years ago.. I had lubed my brake line with motor oil which made it feel great. We usually would use simple green to clean our rims, but in a pinch when we absolutely needed to break on a dime....we would wipe mountain dew on our rims which would make us be able to stop when we absolutely needed to. Made our rims a tad dirty, but we would clean them later.
Hey, thanks for the hacks. One question, which kind of lube can I use for the brakes, will for example baby oil do the trick? After all I just wanna get it slippery, right? I reckon I wouldn't need anything very specialized for this..?
One tip i use on rim brakes is add a little bit of "toe" on to them. basically, right before you do your last tip about tightening on the brake pads, put a little bit of card stock under the leading edge of the brake pad so as you are pressing the brake pad not only do you get more modulation, but also there is very little squeaking. I will note however, that only applies while going forward. if you are applying brakes while doing a fakie, the opposite will be true.
Seriously SO stoked to try these hacks! I'm used to powerful mtb brakes, but can barely skid pulling my brakes with two fingers on the lever. That just cant be right can it?
I always used to sand my brake pads, then boil them in salt water for 10min which does some magic by softening the rubber and the salt does something, fit them then run them in always worked a treat 🤟. Got that hack from a local pro at Boyle jam in hasting back in early 2000's. Even carried it over in a similar way to the MTB brakes (I don't boil them but I do breiftly heat the pads after sanding) guess it just burns out any possible contaminents on the pads.
Great hacks - on the rear brake cable you can lube it as you push the cable through too (like a foot at a time) so it stays more evenly distributed. Also using index shifter housing adds performance and stiffness to as it designed to not compress and its less likely to kink with bar spins and such too.
thank you for this video! I am mtb rider and i want to get a bmx bike for park riding and with this video you has giving me answers for my questions ;-)
Really great hacks for sure taking them to consideration I liked the most the hack of the glue In the rim I had never heard of it and hearing it from a legend really helps it👌🏾
I’d like to apologies for my comment earlier. I have tried the cable tie hack and is incredible what a difference it made. Hope we have no hard feelings:)
Hi mate I’m 48 around 5,10 can’t make my mind up on a bmx make have been looking at the mongoose legion L100 fully sealed bearings apart from front hub. Also the Kink Whip XL fully sealed all over both being 21” top tube’s both bikes being cassettes can I ask your opinion or am I too old. Cheers Russ
That front wheel falling made me think of the quality of Mafia bikes 😂😂 everything just breaks one week in, so glad you’re not riding for them anymore
Alex L 🤣🤣🤣

Air fryers
As much as i love the MB content.. great to see you back regularly in your natural place...on a bmx!! 👍
Yeah man sick!!!
damn i been riding 10 years and i never seen that cable tie on the straddle, looks good tho i gotta test it! i used to run a bent spoke instead of a straddle and that worked out pretty nice being super stiff
Back in my day people used to use a small piece of bike chain 🤣👍🏻
Sick!!!! I’ve actually seen people use spokes as straddle, personally never tried it but felt solid brakes with them on !
I replaced my straddle with a chain when I was really into riding 20 years ago.
In my opinion, it would be cool to have more interactive videos like this, especially the educational ones since we’re out of school 😆 They seem like they come more from the heart as well as all the riding you’ve been building back up with a Main twist which is onwards and upwards 👊
Sick lad didt know the cable tie hack been riding years 👍🏻
Sick lad !!!
Same here Marc
Dad “what you done to your bike son it’s in pieces?”

Dude all of these just blew my mind.. time to hack the whip tomorrow 🤘
Haha sick dude !!!
I've just got a new BMX and these hacks are gonna come in handy
The zip tie thing is such a cool idea!
Bro! Awesome hacks! I have a couple questions if you don't mind....what cleaner do you remove the glue with? Also, what pads and cables do you run?
Thanks!!!
Great video harry, like your hacks. They owna shorts ? 👍👍
Thanks dude! Yessss gonna drop them in summer !
Sorry I’m quite new to bmx but how do you barspin without tangling the wires?
Also ive found that skate wax (btw gulf wax from walmart is the best skate wax) lasts longer than wet lube. Every time i get a new cable i run it through my wax brick and every time i get a new chain i hot dip it in wax
As a retired skater, using wax is a good idea that I never thought of.
Awesome video mate! I had a agency meeting with you last year and my business has really boosted since applying what I learnt with you! Also I have ordered a tshirt from your site on monday so hopefully I'll get it soon! Stay safe bud
Awesome dude !! Thanks for the support ! 🔥❤️
@@harrymain anytime dude
You got me into bmx about a year ago thx mate 😁
this setup looks sooo much cleaner than the jump line
Yeah man way way sicker !!!
Help needed bru. What are you painting the ramp skin with? Mines getting wrecked in this rain we’re having. Cable tying brakes in the morning 🤘🏼
you coud also use a normal bike shift cable for the brake because its smaller diameter so there is less friction so it is smoother.
Nice on mate never thought of using an old bar end for foot jams 👍 keep it up mate
Really appreciate the knowledge brother!!! Keep up the great work!!! 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

Yes Harry we should be listening to you 😂🔥
Hey, thanks for the hacks. One question, which kind of lube can I use for the brakes, will for example baby oil do the trick? After all I just wanna get it slippery, right? I reckon I wouldn't need anything very specialized for this..?
bro I dont even drive bmx but this was super engaging :)

Even with toe I still get brake squeal, but I don’t dislike loud brakes anyway.
I have been into bmx a bit late recently at 30 did a little bit of skating in past (fractured leg in 3 places) but better now than never.
Seriously SO stoked to try these hacks! I'm used to powerful mtb brakes, but can barely skid pulling my brakes with two fingers on the lever. That just cant be right can it?
I love those tires man, where they from, loving the content as always 👍
Anywhere sells them KHE DIRT tyre!
Yes sir Capt. Mactavish sir! Don't get me wrong sir! Your accent is cool! Thanks for the hacks! Just subscribed.

Great!!!
Wicked video ! I'm going to use all of these !
back in the day skyway blocks were the best, maybe you could try some against the latest greatest?
Harry you should rename the title to BMX BRAKE HACKS or something since it's only brake related except the footjam one. That one was good tho! :D
Haha !!!
thank you for this video! I am mtb rider and i want to get a bmx bike for park riding and with this video you has giving me answers for my questions ;-)
That cable tie hack I'm going to have to try thanks for the info
Yess dude !!!
