  • Should you buy Nvidia 3090, 3080, 3070 right now (if you manage to find one) or is it worth waiting till November 18th for the 6800 XT and 6800 or December 8th for the RX 6900 XT?
Whether you play at 4k or 1440p, you are a streamer, a 3D or visual effect artist, a video editor working with 4K, 6K, 8K footage, game developer or CAD user, we got you covered with all the fundamentals you must know to make the best purchase.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update: I'd say that this is the first major game that truly showcases what can be achived with RayTracing, which to me looks substantially better and the wolrd feels more "alive" than with pure rasterization.
DLSS is really what makes this game almost playable on the high end Ampere cards and this in my opinion is the first important example where the lack of a supersampling technique does truly matter.
So I would say that adding to the fact that in productivity (except with some CADs) the performance of RDNA 2 is well behind Ampere, despite the 6Gb of extra VRAM, *I would not buy a 6800XT over a 3080 at just 50$ less*
The Fact Check price difference evaluation are now the following:
    3080 - 6800XT: (at least) 100$
    3080 - 3070: 250$
    3070 -3060 Ti: 70$
    6080XT - 6800: 90$

I like the video. Maybe you could boost your mic or the volume of the video though, I had to boost volume to 100 and wear my headphones to hear clearly.
Thanks for the info. I'm trying to building a new pc, and I'm very leaning towards AMD. In my opinon, they just seem to have more future proofing in their cards this year. Subbed for future videos :)

Thank you for the tip! When editing I tried to aim for a comfortable 50% volume for my headphones, will probably boost the audio a little bit for next videos then!

Informative, and great data visualization, keep it up! I'm stuck because I would like the hardware acceleration in 3D/development/creative software from Nvidia, but I'd also like a match for my upcoming 5900X for 4k gaming with RAGE mode and that 16gb of VRAM. I'll have to wait a bit, it seems. Anyways, nice vi

Well as far as "Rage Mode" is concerned it's basically pure marketing as far as my understanding goes it's just a power slider, nothing more. The Smart Access Memory thing thought seems great! I wonder if technically it would be possible, at least in principle, to accelerate some type of CPU computation that is bandwidth constrained outside of gaming. The 16Gb are sooo nice! Honestly I would have preferred a hypothetical 3080-level card with 14Gbs at 750$.
Nvidia software stack is undeniably a great value adding proposition to cons

Followed you here from redit 😅. I have lg gl850 1440p so 3070 should be optimal? for gaming only. Great work.

Hi! I think the 3070 is an amazing option and will give a great gaming experience at 1440p for years to come unless you're super into maxing settings at all costs even if the visual quality improvement is minimal! On that note, there are rumours that a 3060(Ti) with 8gb of GDDR6 might be announced on the 17th of November at 400$. If it ended up being the case, and it retained 10-15% of the 3070 performance in games, I think it would be my favourite card from the NVidia line up for 1440p truly offering the superior value!

@@factcheck1845 Thanks for the response, I have been holding on to 1550 ti till now. I decided to get a new machine this year, I didn't know that Nvidia or AMD would be releasing new cards looks like I have chosen a great year to upgrade my pc. You are doing great work mate. Keep up the good work.

What do you thank will do better for video Editing 8K RAW material without needing proxies? A 3080 or a 6800xt? My Budget is top low for a 3090 or a 6900xt.

    • @factcheck1845

If you can wait till (a couple of days after the) 18th of November and check Puget Systems benchmarks on the 6800XT for Premiere or Resolve depending on what you use.
As I mentioned in the video in my opinion the 3090 is of course the most adequate option with its 24Gb of VRAM, but if budget tops at 800$, we'll still need to see from benchmarks which one between Ampere's amazing compute performance or 6800Xt's 16Gb of VRAM will grant you the best 8k Raw playback experience, can go either way!

    • @iliaskapatos
      @iliaskapatos 3 года назад

@@factcheck1845 thank you👍 I will wait, they also have benchmarks for davinci resolve what I use. I plan to switch the GPU if it can play close to realtime 8K RAW in 24fps, my actual GPU a 1080ti makes 8-9 fps when played or rendered in this settings with some sound, colorgrading and two titles. So I have almost no issues but it is slow. I hope I don't have to wait a year for a 7800xt or a 4080 and my budget is right now up to 850.- I was hoping that AMD would also show some videoediting benchmarks. Thank you Ilias
