      Companies need to put the weight of AI in the desktop... too expensive servers that charge basically nothing for the service... even with our data, seems to be insufficient for them. That's the only reason I found to push so aggressively the NPUs with 16Gb RAM in computers/smartphones (8Gb in case of phones).

      Just an FYI for those not familiar with how semiconductor manufacturing works. It takes years of R&D and planning to put products into production. This chip has been in development for years. They don't just wake up and decide to put out a chip. Most of these companies are working on things that the public won't see for 5-10 years from now.

      Tbh Snapdragon CPUs are really solid in real-world usage, and AI features were of course never the real selling point for actual consumers. Admittedly I bought my Surface Laptop 7 mainly for the incredible design and build quality, but still the Snapdragon X Plus CPU is incredibly snappy, and compatibility issues are really rare (except for gaming, but even there most non-AAA titles run without any issue). Lots of reviewers mentioned that Snapdragon laptops simply feel faster in everyday use compared to AMD and Intel CPUs. But of course if someone has only a single laptop, and they want it to be good at everything (including gaming), then having a Snapdragon laptop for that single device is a poor choice.

      That information is incorrect. It was actually Apple that caused the loss of billions for Intel when they decided to stop using Intel chips and started producing their own chips, which were better. This move was a big blow for Intel, and they had to quickly come up with a recovery plan to save their business, as they knew that other companies might also switch to using ARM chips. Two years later, Qualcomm also announced that they were working on developing their own chips, and ARM has also been working on their own version, which is still in development. Apple started the Intel rot and we can see in their share price that investors are uncertain of their future.

    Hi. Dave. First - long time subscriber and love the content on this channel. I made a similar comment on a SnazzyLab video (which he was kind enough to respond to) and wanted to leave a similar note to you. For reference, I made the comment in regard to the new Snapdragon processors but I think it's still applicable here.
    I am a finance professional so I use microsoft excel every single day. Pretty much all tech youtubers, when reviewing laptops, run games or video rendering benchmarks to show real-world use, but all I care about is how well these new chips hold up when processing hundreds of thousands of rows of data in excel. I received a file today with well over a million rows of data (not even using any intense formulas) and my entire computer slowed down significantly.
    For those not in finance reading this comment, excel is the sole reason why we require windows laptops. This will never change.

    Since when did IPS panel become more energy-efficient than OLEDs ?! 🤔

    • @wilazn
      @wilazn 11 дней назад +6

      Assuming U turn on auto brightness.IPS LCDs are more power efficient than oleds in most typical usage scenarios.
      First of all most IPS lcd phones only display around 500-800 nits brightness. But amoleds display 800 -1300 nits. And IPS LCDs power consumption depends on the ambient environment light adjustment. But oleds on max brightness consume more energy if the screen is full of colours and ambient light adjustment is high compared to IPS LCDs. Oleds save power only on dark background with minimal colours on max brightness compared to IPS LCDs.
      In conclusion oleds draw much 20-30% more current than IPS LCDs in typical scenarios most of the time.
      Assuming U have a 8nm , IPS lcd smartphone Vs 6nm amoled smartphone. The 6nm amoled smartphone will use up more battery on outdoors or on a white theme.
      The IPS lcd will not use more regardless of bright colours or white themes

    They amd qualcomm intel apple actually can put the new thin slim upgradeable cass memory slots in there with virtually no loss in performance.
    Only a slight latency hit would occur only barely detectble by software.
    .but they want ram proifits and to obselte these as a dead end as far as ram.upgrades go like apple.
    Dont believe the we cannot do it lie.
