  • Let's put all the puzzle pieces together.
Even if there is a ton of information out there, I felt there was a need to organize in all this data in a single comprehensive video to make sense of it all so that PC builders have an holistic view on what's on the table. The new GPU panorama for potential buyers has re-shaped considerably.
With the RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 there are now more options than ever for PC gamers. With RDNA 2 on the horizon, should you wait to see what AMD has to offer or pull the trigger if you manage to find an Ampere card on stock?
This has also profound consequences on the used GPU market as there will be opportunities to make very good deals if you know what you need, what to search and how to make proper price evaluations.
In this video we make a data driven analysis on what is the perfect purchase for any gamer, whether you wanna play the next-gen titles on the highest settings or you just want to pick the cheapest option that gives you a great e-sports gaming experience, we got you covered!
All the most common use cases and all the variables you should pay attention to to make the most optimal purchase for YOU are addressed, such as the types of games types you play, what is you screen resolution and refresh rate and of course how much are you willing to spend.
I also include many suggestion on how older cards can be a much better purchase and save you some cash and yet make so that you don't make any compromises in terms of the performance you need!

Oh Boy, this one took a lot of effort, but we are so happy we managed to get it out to you!
Believe it or not, we (2 people :D) spend 20 days researching and making this!
We painstakingly FACT CHECKED all the data in order to have an accurate data-based analysis in order for you to make the optimal purchase decision!
Let us know what you think, if we missed something or you have a different opinion!
We would love to have an interesting discussion!
Also my GPU has decided to throw in a couple glitches here and there, is it trying to tell me IT IS actually time to upgrade?

Nice informative vid 👍🏻i just have one question , What if i have i9-9900k and dont want to get into 4k , mainly play apex and overwatch , is the rtx 30 series worth it at 1080p or 1440p ? If not which gpu do you recommend ?

As I mention in the video at 31:50 ,I would get a get a used 2060 Super, 2070 or 5700. If budget is not a problem and you find good deals you might wanna stretch to one of these: 2080 Super, 2080, 2070 Super, 1080Ti, 5700XT. I would not get Ampere since it would not be an optimal purchase for 1080p, and partially for 1440p. You might wanna wait for the AMD announcement on 28th of October and evaluate what to do then.

@@factcheck1845 They are. Thank you both for the research. I am currently thinking about building a new system for FPS games, either for my 1080p 144hz monitor or a new WQHD 144hz monitor, if I want to spend the extra money.

Solid video. A little bit long. Personally I would also add a more budget GPU section to appeal to more people. Nice work!

Yeah, I was a little bit worried during editing that this video would be very long, and I actually removed some content believe it or not. Although I also think that, viewing it from another perspective, it is actually less time consuming to watch it than to research all this information through reviews and articles.

@@factcheck1845 this is so true. considering I've been doing research for about 4 months this is a SIGNIFICANTLY condensed version of what I was able to accomplish in that time. very well produced video.

Great video! Is there a written article or a tool that enables the use of this info without constantly going back to this video? It's a great video, but it's still a 40-minute one.

I will try to make a condensed article or something similar after RDN 2 is announced! If I'll manage to get it done I'll write a reply to this comment and update the video description! Thank you for the feedback!

4:10 very nice graph but isn't it confusing? why does higher setting have more fps? o.O so purple/yellow is high settings and since the GPU is challenged more it achieves higher fps than on lower settings?
probably the best data presentation I've ever seen and the best way to represent fps data. is the raw data from HUnboxed or the graph too?
I like eurogamer's graphs too but yours are way better. one picture to show everything. very well done

    • @factcheck1845

Hey, thank you so much for spotting the mistake: we swapped the captions on the legend, so purple/yellow is lower settings, that have higher fps indeed. We will correct it next time we use this slide. We love Hardware Unboxed too, we extensively used their data specifically because they are very clearly presented and they also test a lot of GPUs, so one can make proper comparisons.

    Awesome work!
I would be interested in seeing you folks tackle a "Mobile GPU Cypher," perhaps once we see what the next generation ends up looking like. Where, if I'm considering buying a new laptop, I can reasonably compare the laptop's GPU to desktop options and benchmarks.
I'm wanting to upgrade from my MSI GS63VR (6700HQ, 1060 6GB) but it's really hard to find sensible comparisons between my laptop's 1060 and other GPUs to understand if a laptop with a 2060 or 2080 or whatever else would be a noticeable improvement. I doubt I'm alone here.
What's more... with laptops, there are all the variables that are hard to quantify like cooling solutions, screen sizes, etc. I'm not sure how to intelligently group and compare/adjust for those things but I feel like you might have the creativity and mindset to sort that out!
I'd also like to see better benchmarks/comparisons/summaries on is actual video editing performance in Adobe Premiere Pro. Most benchmarks/numbers seem to focus on render times, but that's the final thing I do and most of my headaches come from my system not being responsive and snappy while actually editing videos. (Scrubbing, starting/stopping playback, applying effects...) This might be hard to do if you don't have hardware in-house, but it's just another thing I wish someone would tackle.

    • @factcheck1845
      @factcheck1845  4 года назад

Yeah! I will think about what you said! I'm currently thinking in focusing on desktop at the moment since the panorama is changing a lot with Zen 3, Ampere and RDNA2. When Tiger Lake H series and/or AMD releases Cézanne / Van Gogh I would love to do a deep dive on some of the considerations that you mentioned! As you say it's even more challenging than desktop for the extra variables such as laptop cooling and power consumption. Laptop GPU don't stretch in performance spectrum as much as desktop ones for the aforementioned power and thermal constrains so GPUs "tiers" (x160-x060-x070-x080 for Nvidia) are generally closer than desktop counterparts.
I also perfectly agree with you, rendering benchmarks are useful, but ultimately what truly matters is how the computer performs in the timeline, if it's sluggish or if it's able to provide a pleasant the editing experience. I personally use DaVinci Resolve and since I don't have Premiere and Final Cut X (at the moment ) I will need to make some research in order to correctly estimate what's the most optimal hardware for those programs as well!
Thank you for your well thought comment! Always appreciated!
