I’m dying 😂 when I seen you throw the that taped net . I did the same thing so I can relate 🤣. I looked back at my 1 lb and was already missing it. Tbh I also got me live scope to help cast netting my gizzard . Saves a lot of time . Helps stay outta the trees or I can put the net right beside it 😉 Keep doing what your doing we will all keep learning. Thank you.
@@bobbybass6288 😆 thank you. Yeah that net got pretty heavy. But I will be getting me live scope for that very reason.
I've been watching " adventure with purpose" are learned a lot about sonar and live scope. Great video Micha
@@beverlycurry4370 thank you
Well Done Micka. Sure wish my water had that many gizzards. Over the past 20 years they have disappeared. Rod and reel, catching skips, yellow, and white bass is your only chance of catching bait. Thanks for the good sonar shots and taking us along.
@@markybob_bassplaya1462 thank you. Yeah we are definitely blessed to have the numbers we do.
Thanks for sharing Micka, great info, always appreciate it.
@@fishinfever thank you
Good morning Micka, I appreciate your videos beyond words. I found it kind of funny that you drug baits for quite awhile, then got hung up, hooked up, spot locked, the baits settled and rods started going down. Coincidence or not? I really appreciate you taking the time to show what and how you are reading your graphs. I am not even a novice when it comes to fish finders. Be safe out there, what if you put your life preserver under your jacket. I tend to agree that the cold temperatures and a slick deck is a recipe for a very cold 🥶 polar plunge 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖
@@KunesRGr8 thank you for that. Yeah I'm still learning how to read my graphs 😆 . But your right i probably should have a life jacket on when it gets slick on the front deck.
I could just watch videos on catching bait especially skip jack and throwing the net it's exciting to see what you catch in the net I threw one time in a small river and cought a nearby 6lb and a 41/2lb small mouth in the same throw thought I hit the mother load of shad
@@TonyLoman-hb3cr lol yeah that would be fun to pull up.
I like his attitude
@@dwaynekirby7774 thank you. I appreciate that.
Get ya one of those plastic dust pans like you would use when sweeping with a broom. Use the dust pan to scoop up the shad off the deck. Better than 1 at time into the bucket!
@@HooksandHammocks 😆 yeah have one just for that but i keep forgetting to put it in the boat 😆
I really enjoy your videos because you tell everything, water conditions, depth and current
@@randyhood220 thank you. Yeah i think stuff like that is what's missing from alot of other good channels. So I'm trying to fill that void the best I can.
@mickaburkhart14 thank you for giving us the information that we can use ourselves
This time of year can be tough. Great video can't wait till the next one
@@trinityoutdoors thank you. Yeah it definitely can be.
Awesome video really like you showing graph and explaining things really enjoy you taking us along
@@michaelknight9112 thank you
Micka, thanks for taking us along! Gid bless yall 🙏

Keep your spirits up. You will get them figured out. The weather will also get better soon. Then we will all be out and having fun. Be blessed. My brother.

Hey Michka thanks for the great video to Me you are the best along with Spencer you 2 are the fishing gods to me keep on fishing and keep on catching

35’ is shallow lol. The deepest hole on the stretch of river I fish is 35’. Right now water temp is 38 and I’ve been catching in 16’ back in an oxbow.
@@russellfaith8959 😆 yeah this river is pretty deep. But I've also found some fish in like 10 feet of water the other day.
Micka I’m going to try that dragging weights leader line soon
Good deal. Would like to know your thoughts on it.
@ yes sir most definitely have make some leaders and hit the river from the bank here in North Carolina
Good video micka
@@jamesbailey..catfishin thank you
@mickaburkhart14 welcome buddy
Dude, when you are throwing a net on a slick deck in water that cold, put on a life jacket!
@@smithfamilyfishingadventur3212 yeah your right. I had my auto inflate one on earlier that morning but kept getting caught in the net. But you are correct.
I really enjoyed and learned from you and explaining how you were targeting bait. Another great video!
@@mickaburkhart14 I'm sure there are a lot of people in your life that want to keep you around a while. Do it for them. I forced myself to wear one until it became habit. No I put it on just like a seat belt. And yes, the inflatables are nice they don't restrict movement hardly at all. I want to see you keep putting out videos for years to come. Keep up the good work. And by the way you and Spencer together are comedy gold! God Bless brother...
@smithfamilyfishingadventur3212 thank you for that. Yep you 100% correct. Definitely appreciate your concern. I'll have my life jacket on when messing around with them slick conditions.
A little warmerive thrown in some tuff places on a pretty shady bottom for bait. I feel your pain...
I've torn up or plain destroyed many nets trying to get bait while fishing with my brother! One positive, I suppose, little brother doesn't let throw a net anymore! He didn't have to twist my arm ! Lol
@@goodcitizen64 😆
How for off the bottom were you dragging ? Great video, thanks. I will be looking for the Saturday video.
I try to keep my baits about a foot off the bottom.
Brother at the 4:02 mark, I can’t tell you the last time I’ve scanned over any school that size 😂 maybe I’m not searching enough 😅
@@castandtrail 😆 yeah we have an insane amount of shad here.
Here in Michigan our river system is full of shad-but we are not allowed to throw a cast net in inland waters-and all you get out of Lake Michigan is alewives! They work but not that well, wish the law was more lenient, and I agree with others on the life jacket, hate to see anything bad happen not worth it brother their only fish !!!
@@billhodgson4105 well that doesn't make sense. What's the reasoning behind that? But yeah your right I'll have to start wearing one. That last time out was a little sketch 😆
@ I guess they are afraid people will keep the game fish(bass, gills, crappie…)and yet the big lake is full of trout ? Yeah makes no sense but the law is the law😖
@billhodgson4105 😆 yeah i can't make it make sense.
What river are you on my friend? I live in Muscle Shoals Al right at Wilson dam so I can be on Pickwick or Wilson in 10 minutes. I got into live bait fishing about 2 years ago and still trying to perfect the cast net throw. Getting better but not yet full pancake. Thanks for the vids and keep those lines tight. I will be watching.
Not to bad a double
Sure enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking us along to find bait. I have an identical boat. What shaft length is your current trolling motor? Im looking at getting a garmin force in a 48". Looking at yours, i think i could get away with a shorter shaft. Thanks!
Thank you. Yeah i have a 60 inch shaft on mine. It is a little long. I'd say a 48 inch should work.
Thanks!
Your talking about presentation that means everything that's what I have thought my boys when they were fishing with my old son always to do it his way even throwing his rod i thought them how to keep it from bird nesting the baby boy was a natural the oldest didn't want to listen and when he bird nested the baby son would be back at him wave his hands and the oldest one asked him one day what are you doing he told him keeping the birds away I liked to feel out of the boat lol
@@robertwoodward388 😆 🤣
So you can use Side Scan from the transducer on the back of your boat??
Yep.
I see you have Side Scan and you are using the outboard, is your trolling motor in the water? Where is you side scan mounted??
@@PopPopJoe I have the transducer for the graphs at the console mounted on the back of the boat. The other transducer is on the trolling motor.
I would be eating all those fish. It is sad you don't keep the eaters. That is why I love your Channel. You catch a lot of eating fish
@@dalewood5964 well I do keep them on occasion for sure. Just not every time I go out.
Can you show what settings on the fish finders
@@TrentMcdaniel-p6l yeah I can definitely do that.
@ awesome thank you
Hey my friend. What river are you on? I live in Muscle Shoals at Wilson dam. Thanks for the vids and I will be watching. I tried posting once and didnt see it so if this comments twice my apologies
Really enjoy your videos. What size mesh are you using on your cast nets for gizzards. I just got a new taped net with one inch mesh I’ll be trying out this weekend but I’m worried I should have ordered the 5/8 inch mesh I normally use.
@@DirkMiller-j7j thank you. It depends. I use 1/2 mesh and 5/8 mesh. The 1 inch will be fine.
@ good to hear. The gizzards on our central Texas lake are very deep and I’m hoping it will get that taped net down there quicker with the larger mesh but worried on how large the bait will need to be not to escape that size mesh.
@DirkMiller-j7j ah you should be good with the net you got.
@@mickaburkhart14 thank you.
Lol that net looked heavier than you brother lol
@@glennmeadows6892 😆 yeah it gets heavy after a few throws.
@mickaburkhart14 I'm to old an torn up to be throwin them things 😆
Can you post a link or brand for that throw net. Thanks!
@@fishinmagician1969 i can for sure.
So you are fishing in full cold weather gear with ice on the deck and Spencer is fishing in shorts and a shirt. What is up with that? Smoke and mirrors? Awesome video Micka!!
😆 yeah it doesn't make sense. But I'll be in shorts next week 🤪
Can you legally catch skip jack in a throw net
They’re a shad (bait fish) so I believe in TN it is fine if you do. Granted regs change every year and I’ve not seen 2025 what might have changed.
@@robertwoodward388 I'm not really sure. Course them things are pretty fast so I've only ever caught just a couple small ones in my net. And I know I've thrown on a couple good schools of them.
At what depth do you have to start burping the fish
Well i use to think it was deep water like 30 feet or deeper but here lately I've had to fo it to fish coming out of 12 feet of water. So can't give you a very accurate answer on that. I'd say check every fish. I know I've had to.
Life jacket? Get serious
