The Ghostwriters Behind Your Favorite Rappers

- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- We frequently hear the argument about hip hop artists that have ghostwriters pushing the pen behind their hottest songs as being compared to pop singers having songwriters, with various members of the rap world believing it should be treated the same way-a hit is a hit, no matter if the rapper wrote it or not. But those that honorably uphold hip-hop lyricism in high regard, with its honestly and poetic value rivaling and superseding the songwriting available in any other music genre

Am I the only one that sees the GHOST BUSTER logo on Lamar shirt on the thumbnail? Meaning he's busting these rappers with ghost writers... Idk maybe I'm the only person that figured that out
Nigga that's what I'm saying, idk if he changed it or not but if he didn't then these niggas don't pay attention
@J. Professional lmao. Smh
at the very begining he also spoke about lyrics in his song that clearly expresses his feelings against it,
No I noticed it too, but he is not calling them out individually nor has he. He has said such in general, but it is not like he is using Kendrick tearing these people apart because he has not I'm so Kendrick is not getting down to the bottom of it. That is just this guys idiotic way of justifying the clickbait he used and backpedaling once called on it... Basically he wants to put Kendrick the one we know for sure doesn't in the thumbnail to make us click it because we know about all the others and could be "wrong about him" so people watch it to find out. He could have made a clear-cut effort and separated them and I had him at the Forefront and in the middle to again draw attention. Because Kendrick does frowned upon it but again he ain't using Kendrick take down on all these ppl.

@007Zombie I kinda give Eazy and Dre a pass since they were never meant to be rappers in the first place. Hell, E was only supposed to be a financial backer.
They admit that Cube wrote for them tho, unlike aubrey
Tydraxel Himmingburg exactly...E wasn’t a rapper. His voice was just so edgy they had to make him 1. Plus like stated it was common knowledge not some big secret they kept locked in the vault
Yup eazy e never wrote his own raps lol
Both Dre and Eazy never WROTE their own lyrics in the light of day. You're right about that!!
Wow that thumbnail reckless as hell. That's King Kendrick. That's like putting Nas in that thumbnail. Damn.
It's obvious the Kendrick thumbnail is clickbait, but they're technically not wrong including him when the video itself mentions Kendrick ghostwriting for Dre.

It’s not that hard to be a goat as long as you actually write your lyrics and have musical talent. That’s harder than people think. Goats with Ghostwriters don’t go together no one should respect em.

So apparently Blueface and NBA young boy has ghost writers, who thinks so?
Do you know how disrespectful it is to put Kendrick on that thumbnail

@Michaell Alexander
Nothing wrong with me stating my opinion though. Kendrick might not be in the spotlight for using ghostwriters/reference tracks (as far as we know), but I would say that he does have a place in the conversation. You relax. Lol.
@Michaell Alexander Lmaoooo haha, I'm just saying, there are some Kendrick songs where there are more than just one writing credit lol. Whatever argument that can be put up against any other artist over something like that can be put up for Kendrick. The DOC's throat getting badly damaged in that car accident effectively ended his otherwise promising career as a solo rapper.
@Under Construction Drake definitely should be a thing because he’s written his own bars but he’s written bars, hooks, verses, and songs for tons of artists. That man’s pen is incredible and very underrated

I feel like producers like Dre, JD etc dont count, they're not really rappers
Dre's an amazing producer but not the best rapper
@@spong2548 Even tho he's got rappers like Ice Cube and Eminem writing for him.
@@domesticpigeon2896 that's why I'm not into him, he raps good, but I'd rather listen to rappers who actually write their own shit.
SpongeyThings to be far he produces most of his own beats can’t say that about many other rappers. It’s just a flipped argument, but I respect your opinion.

I was always told Jay Z stole a lot of his lyrics from other legendary rappers preferably just after they died..

That’s a lie lol. If you don’t research it don’t say it. Jayz has wrote for a lot of artist you all love yet call Jayz wack. Just dumb
If you just know that Jay z write still Dre, that’s should be enough for his carrier
And yeah D.O.C wrote most of the Chronic album but the contract situation wasn't right and didn't get paid much lol Though Dre let him live at his house and drive his dope rides. D.O.C lived with Dre for most of his life.
The DOC also Wrote on some of Ems first record
And Kanye thinks he's a better rapper than 2pac 😂
2pac would never have ghost writers neither biggie they both rap for others just to put them on
Yes he did he had a whole team
@Truth Lives I agree
Ghost writers don't get enough credit they really make these singers & rappers famous the music industry is something else no thank you😋

So disrespectful to put Kendrick Lamar in the thumbnail.
Bryan Flores why
I think Kendrick's in there because he's been critical of rappers with ghostwriters. And he slapped the Ghostbusters logo onto Kendrick's shirt.
Bryan Flores you are such a fucking idiot
So if they can alter your voice AUTOTUNE
Someone writes your songs
Gostwriter
Making it in the music industry has nothing to do with talent... sell your soul your a star period...
Ikr it sad
Nah it don’t work like that and u need talent to actually flow the auto tune . I think people need to get in the stu before assuming .
Kanye and drake are infamous for both of those things and if your saying they are talentless you ain’t smart and you never made music so why criticize

Facts
Drake got ghost writers for days. His ghost writers bodied meek.
There's a difference between have your stuff written as a singer vs as a rapper. Singers talents are their voices, but rappers talent is their ability to write clever and catchy lyrics. Almost anyone can ride a beat but not anyone can spit. If you don't write your own raps that's fine, but then you're not a rapper, you're a performer. When I rap Bodak Yellow I ain't a rapper just because I'm saying what someone else wrote.
When Nicki isn’t on this video further proving she ain’t got no ghostwriters like all these other female rappers. #Queen
Lol Let’s not Forget Safaree Helped Penn some of her Biggest Hits early in Her career. Especially on that first Album.
If he’s credited for co writing then it’s not ghostwriting
I don't like Nicki's songs but she does have talent tho
Blanca Arlin Garcia rapsody and noname are still the best female rappers, while nicki does have a lot of talent though
@@davelightsaber1621 safaree himself admitted he never wrote for nicki. being credited in a song doesnt mean that a person contributed with lyrics. some are just ad libs
Kendrick doesent have ghost writers confirmed by Eminem
No one said he had
@CJ AGOGBUA *cough get some brain* his shirt has a Ghostbusters sympol think the rest yourself
But why does he have other writers in his credits then?

@@mariusm2431 Writers credits goes loads of different people- producers, engineers, features, any sample used is considered a writing credit. Look at the credits for King Kunta and you'll see Michael Jackson listed as a writer because he was sampled, obviously he wasn't a writer was he
If I gotta see another ghostwriter video where they “revealing” producers, DJs and random ppl who never thought or said they were rappers as hip hop icons with ghostwriters Ima lose my shit 😪🤦🏽♀️
Even Kdot has people who help him on his songs. Yall gotta realize music has always been this huge collaborative things. I'm telling you with 100% certainty that artists that have been in the hot 200 billboard have at least 1 song that someone else helped them write. It doesnt make the music any less good or the musician(rapper in this case) any less talented at what they do.
I'm sure Kendrick has someone who helped changed a hook, or helped change the wording of 1 bar. That person is in the credits of the song. Not a ghostwriter. The bars are written by him. He's a human of course, someone can help him see a better way to phrase something.
You are 10000000% less talented as a rapper if you aren't writing your own stuff than someone who is
Ever since i started buying cds i would always look in the booklet and look at the song writers... there are at LEAST 3 writers on every single song I've seen... usually 4-6 credited writers though. Even eminem, lil wayne, wale, they all have multiple credited writers
Eminem's writers are usually people who contributed to making the beat. He likes to produce his own beats sometimes and since he doesn't know that much about music theory he needs a musician who actually knows how to compose a proper arrangement, and they're credited as writers. But Eminem is the sole writer of his lyrics/verses. Plus, if they even use another artists sample even if it's a split second or use one of their lines they have to credit them. For example, Kendrick Lamar is credited on Eminem's 'The Greatest.' because Eminem used his cadence and line when he says "Revival didn't go viral" making a Humble reference
Also I know Wayne def uses ghosts but I forgive him due to the fact that his brain is so fried he can barely even remember his own bars lmao
When I listen to a song and the lyrics are so good that I actually start to follow that artist, I am actually following them for their art and not for being a conduit. Once I find out a rapper has a ghostwriter, I immediately see them in a different light. Sometimes I even stop following them as much as I used to. Kanye was once one of my very favourites but listening to a guy say something so clever only to find out they didn’t even write it themselves, I don’t know man. It’s like buying a painting that was painted by someone else and sold as someone else’s. It’s just not the same. To me at least.
Just a pug on the internet. That’s exactly what J Cole said on false prophets
Demetri J “come to find out these niggas don’t even write their shit...”. He was right. He and I see it exactly the same way
Yeah man. That's a good way to put it... Id say as far as a hook goes? Would you give a pass on that?
Nick B. A hook, yes! I can overlook that because most lyricists fail to create good hooks most of the time anyway. It is rare to have them make great hooks but besides that, hooks can even be given to another artist to render so I’m okay with that.
@@justapugontheinternet ok I'm the same way too on that. But if a so called rapper says I'm the greatest bar for bar? That's not for me. Ok what about helping change a couple of words here and there? The bars are yours but some words were helped from others to change?
1979 Grandmaster Casanova Fly!!!!You should have started with the first highly successful Hip-hop record " Rappers Delight" partially written by Grand Master Caz. Hip-hops commercial origin is highlighted by a ghostwriter. He never made a dime off the recording.
Some ghost writers still get points on the song (royalties). Even if they’re not publicly credited in the song, the still have paperwork behind the scenes that secured them a percentage of the royalties from the song. Sauce Money had royalties for writing Diddy’s verses on “I’ll be missing you”
Kendrick never has and never will need a ghostwriter
Flevine Otieno
He didn’t write “Money Trees” the verse Jay Rock quoted came from a dude in Chicago who actually gave him that verse while he was at recording studio there. Facts!!!!!!! #IAintNeverToldNoLie
Look at the you tube video when they perform it for the first time and Kendrick say” any of y’all heard this before “. Why would you say that unless you worried about being exposed. Then he look back at Jay Rock and at the end let him finish performing because he (Kendrick) knew it wasn’t really his. Look at Kendrick face.
Kendrick was only on there for not respecting artist who use ghost writers. He write his own music

So how does this work with the Grammys Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album. If you didn’t write it. Like honestly?
Terrence Johnson the writer gets a Grammy too
The Grammys are bullshit if you didn’t notice
Well performance is what they're doing it has nothing to do with writing the source material. Same goes for best album. And really who cares.... The Grammy never gets any of this stuff right anyway. Da Brat beat out Snoop for a Grammy. Snoop wrote his own lyrics and I believe Jermaine Dupree wrote Brats.
The same way they do with pop music. Almost every sing a pop artist or singer does is ghost written. That includes r&b.
Cardi doesn't write her shit.
Nickj write all her bars but a lot of her hooks are of ghost writers. BIG ASS DIFFERENCE. Cardi is a recording artist. Nicki is a lyricist. #PERIOD!!!

Back in the 80s 90s all hip hop wanted was to be treaded equally to other mainstream music. Well congratulations, hip hop is a part of the pop machine now.
Exactly. Hip Hop never was as "pure" as purists thought it was. Hip hop always had mainstream aspirations.
Artists that get songs written are not rappers. They are personalities...
