  • Today we're back in the studio testing out a brand new driver shaft from Breakthrough Golf Tech, the Brava.
    BGT claims that this shaft gives you 10 more yards than the Autoflex and tighter dispersions than both Autoflex and other top performing premium driver shafts on the market.
    So today, Ian and Mike are testing it against the Autoflex head to head style to see which comes out on top.

    Love the intro. When Drew Cooper was on he mentioned a paderson shaft that was autoflex comparable but 1/3 of the price. How about a head to head to head to head with autoflex, brava, paderson and ventus tr red.

    Really caught me by surprise that lowering the loft by a mere ONE degree, on the same clubhead,
    allowed the Autoflex to leapfrog the Brava, which was already longer than what Mikey usually hits it.
    Once the strike, launch and spin were dialed in, Mikey gained a good 23 yds of carry --- and a total
    distance gain of 28 yds on average, to reach 287 yds overall. That's some vast improvement right there..
    Obviously, Mikey must be on the juice ; ) -- I kid of course. Looking forward to seeing Ian hit it.

    Rocked an AutoFlex for a couple years, looked it, but my speed training has crept up club speed enough I pushed myself out of the "flex" zone on it, so waiting for the "xx" version to arrive, and passed along the "x" to my brother, who is just hitting super straight bombs with it

    Interesting video. Always appreciate when Ian is able to demonstrate the benefits of a good fit with data/metrics/etc. Also think his comment about not buying an expensive product like Autoflex (or any premium shaft) without a proper fit is extremely stop on - as Mike's results prove. Brava looks like an interesting product but I'm not one to respond to the types of claims being made in the marketing and just buy it off the website. Would be happy to try it out during my next driver fit though.

      Fit is everything. I had the same experience with Autoflex - it was just OK & too high at 9 degrees but at 8 degrees it became an absolute rocket launcher. Been gaming it about 18 months and it's not going anywhere.

    After watching yours and other club fitting sites on RUclips I decided to order one in 50g R. My new Mizuno ST-Z came stock with Aldila Assent R 50 g. Sadly after testing it yesterday vs the stock shaft ( 15 of the better carry and total distance for each), NO difference 😱🤔😢😢. I’m 72, carry my Mizuno Liquid Metal 7 iron 145-150, and getting 223-230yds on me Garmin R10 indoors. I’m 238-248 on the course. Swing speed 85-87, launch average 15*, back spin 2000-2280. Best ball speed was 129. Smash factor consistently 145-147. Disappointing to say the least

    Would’ve enjoyed seeing the bravo used by its self, and then customised it’s set up to max its performance.
    As we have seen in pretty much every single test of sharks win compare to the auto flex the tester has a really hard time of swinging the club after using the auto flex because of how different the auto flex feels.
    Strikes were consistently low in the head for mike, was this because he couldn’t time the shaft because he used it after the auto flex? Or was it because the tee was a bit too low? I think a separate review will show comparable results. Just a thought

  • @4njk
    @4njk Год назад

    I’m glad to see that the AF is still performing equally as good. Since I’m an existing AF owner, I don’t have to buy another shaft. There are a lot of other benefits using an AF that most NEVER talk about. AF doesn’t work well if one cast early. AF forces you to lag better….which in turn improves your swing on the other clubs. We all see the increase in driving distance but what about the rest of the bag? I found a 5-10 yd improvement in all my clubs!

  • @rlbjr
    @rlbjr 2 года назад +7

    Peter Von Panda just did a video 2 wks ago comparing the Autoflex to the Brava. His results were the opposite, Brava was longer and tighter dispersion. His swing speed is in low 90's though.

    • @4njk
      @4njk Год назад

      No offense to Peter, but he even said he’s not consistent. I’d say that matters more with anyone trying any shaft. This comparison could mean something for those that don’t own an AF. Brava is cheaper. But…if you have an AF, no need to run to the store and buy the next longest shaft available in the market.

    @davidknight6250 2 года назад

    I recently invested in a Ventus Red Velocore 6S, to replace a Hzrdus RDX red in a Stealth 10.5 driver, which I felt made the ball flight a bit “floaty”. The Ventus is definitely tighter in dispersion, with a more positive flight. I haven’t moved from the standard loft setting yet, but watching this is tempting me to have a play with the loft 😎

    Can you compare the bend/EI profiles of the two shafts? It would be helpful to know where each is stiff or soft throughout the length of the shaft. I'm guessing since the BGT website is comparing the Brava to the Tensei that it's going to have more of a "blueboard" profile with a softer middle section and firmer handle and tip sections but can you confirm?

Now trying the Ventus Red TR 60s and am seeing my best hits 30y past my regular spots on the course. 54 holes with it this weekend so we will see if it can be consistent as its heavier than everything else I normally try.

    Question: Has there ever been any data compiled on diminishing returns when it comes to club total weight and/or swing weight vs swing speed? Just seems to me that it's a matter of physics at some point where a heavier club swung slower, eg. more weight behind the ball equals more distance vs higher swing speed with lighter equipment has less mass to impart to the ball, thus less compression of the golf ball, (point of diminishing return). Just wondering...........🤔

  • @johnk.atchley5079
    @johnk.atchley5079 Год назад

    Was thrown off a bit when at the start you said he would be hitting a stiff flex at 54 grams, but just before he hit you corrected that to the 505 which is X flex 54 grams. Ironically, Autoflex talks about that as being for the Long Drive player with a swing speed of 110-120 mph. Since Mike had a swing speed of 102.2 it seems like, as with shoe sizes where some brands run large and others run small, most players should try a flex stiffer.

    • @rlbjr
      @rlbjr 2 года назад

      Most likely. The AF is very sensitive to head weight and the G425 Max head is around 206g. You probably need to remove like 10g of head weight and make sure the club length is not more than 45/45.5".
