There were a lot of talented people who worked on that program, and few received the recognition they probably deserved. Holman Moody, their staff, Don Frey, Mose Nowland just a couple of people of the many at Ford who proudly worked on the car. Racing is a tough way to live, and it was very dangerous back in the 60s. I can’t get over the unbelievable amount of emotion that JAMES put into telling Ken Miles story.... his emotional story telling is so incredibly good that it makes a great story into a ICONIC STORY!
I think that the fact that Ford stealing their win is more saddening and heartbreaking than his death. If he did win the triple crown, he would've got fired by ford, but after that performance surely people like Ferrari and Porsche would have hired him, and therefore he most likely wouldn't have died

James, I want to tell you, “I love you.” No gimmicks there. You are a little older than my son but you really remind me of him...funny, quick witted, and animated when appropriate, yet understanding, deep, and sympathetic to the times, situations and personalities of others. He has a warm beautiful humanity and understands he is being a real man whether he is welding a roll cage into a friend’s dirt track car or hugging that friend and crying because his friend’s family pet passed away. I’m sure all your regular viewers will get it...you remind me of my son -> I am the proudest father on the planet. Stay you young man. PS-be an example to your son and one day, just as I am regarding MY son, you will be super proud of Nolan too! Ha ha!
I'm not crying YOU'RE crying......how am I not supposed to cry Ken was such a great driver and teamplayer, and it all just ended right then and there doing the thing he loved most driving cars on a track
The times I've cried past to present. 1. The ending of the movie Heat. 1996. 2. My dog, Costello, passing. Miss you buddy. 2017 3. Eddie Van Halen passing. Yesterday. 4. Today watching this wookie break down.
Knowing what happened with Ken Miles broke me as well. Then discovering the very man who I looked up to for guitar, not for the drugs or smoking, but for the pure talent Eddie Van Halen had shown the world...I cried so much
Ken is my hero. His unrelenting determination and unmatched connection to whatever machine he was driving inspired me to race and build cars. I start my first season of racing my home built car, nicknamed the Carbon 3 by my little brother, next year. and its all thanks to Ken Miles and his legacy.
Ken Miles was a wonderful person who achieved Greatness from small Beginnings, he had accomplished so much, and made his name known in the Motor Sport Racing World. I hope I can live up to his example, Thank You, Ken Miles, you will always be missed.
Mclarens car was put on rubbish tyres to slow him down. After 3 pitstops more in the first 6 hours than miles car (to change tyres) Mclaren jumped up and down till he was given the same tyres as miles. Mclaren then raced his way back to be on the same lap as Miles at the end, At daytona Mclaren was ment to win but Miles ignored team orders and took the win. So, Bruce won at le Mon. No questions asked.
I've recently had a resurgence of interest for cars after so many years thanks to channels like Donut Media and Chris Fix. Watching this video after having seen Ford V Ferrari makes me greatly appreciate Ken Miles even more, he was the true badass and king if the grease monkeys, what Caroll Shelby said was true, we will never have anyone like him, Ken Miles was the ultimate, such a cool dude. Thanks for this James, I got a little teary eyed as well on the last part.
Even to his last days, Shelby was heartbroken over the loss of his friend. I got to see one of Ken's Cobras when the Museum first opened and you could feel his influence and his pride in that car, and Shelby had a tear in his eye and a smile on his face when he touched it. Gave it a gentle pat, and turned away. I was a thirteen year old kid when I saw that, and I will never forget it.

Y’all better like this video, my man’s cried his heart out
didnt expect to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster when i clicked on this video
Nor did I sir. Nor did i.
i shed a few tears no lie, the way you explained everything was so real
The movie will make you shed some too. Outstanding movie
Darrell Hill Agreed!!
I cried to
You know that James puts his entire heart and soul and effort into an episode when he starts to legitimately cry at the end of it.
Well done James, and well done Ken Miles.
I can’t get over the unbelievable amount of emotion that JAMES put into telling Ken Miles story.... his emotional story telling is so incredibly good that it makes a great story into a ICONIC STORY!
Its way too good but not iconic though
I think that the fact that Ford stealing their win is more saddening and heartbreaking than his death. If he did win the triple crown, he would've got fired by ford, but after that performance surely people like Ferrari and Porsche would have hired him, and therefore he most likely wouldn't have died
Agreed
ken is a better man than i. i woulda took that win. no way in hell would i BUST MY ASS getting from last place to first, being first in the last 2 big races and be told i have to slow down for 2nd and 3rd. shoulda kept up. and theres always next year. shame on forrd for even asking. it shows how little respect he had for his drivers and how they feel.
He's representing not only himself but his whole team and Shelby as well and they were good to him so maybe that's why he let it pass.
@@haroldcruz8550 FUCKKKKK FORDDDDDD
Him beating Ferrari is more saddening than his death? Are you serious? Man f*** you.
Ha ha!

R.I.P. Kenneth Miles “the most underrated driver ever.” Just sad to see that news headline. ‘Ken Miles is dead’ So sad...
@Metal Morphine At least he got to see him race. One last time.
I'm not crying YOU'RE crying......how am I not supposed to cry Ken was such a great driver and teamplayer, and it all just ended right then and there doing the thing he loved most driving cars on a track
The fact that James gets emotional when he does some of these videos, shows how PASSIONATE he is about his job and the history of the motorsport world
The times I've cried past to present.
1. The ending of the movie Heat. 1996.
2. My dog, Costello, passing. Miss you buddy. 2017
3. Eddie Van Halen passing. Yesterday.
4. Today watching this wookie break down.
I really wish my list was that short
Knowing what happened with Ken Miles broke me as well. Then discovering the very man who I looked up to for guitar, not for the drugs or smoking, but for the pure talent Eddie Van Halen had shown the world...I cried so much
Bro I’m right with you on heat
Bro its okay to cry
Yesterday ive watched this Ken Miles Video after seeing Ford vs Ferrari.
Today ive watched Heat because ive Read your Comment.
Both great movies
RIP to Ken Miles.
Glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Ken is my hero. His unrelenting determination and unmatched connection to whatever machine he was driving inspired me to race and build cars. I start my first season of racing my home built car, nicknamed the Carbon 3 by my little brother, next year. and its all thanks to Ken Miles and his legacy.
"If this were a beauty pageant, we just lost" - Ken Miles

The first place winner can’t be pleased either. Mclaren won I believe. He knows better too. Marketing fail. Stuffed shirt fail.
Your tears were true honest emotion. You moved me to tears when you told the tragic ending 😢
Shelby hands over Ken's wrench after Ken's win: frame this!
Later Shelby returns it to Ken's son.
Its one of the most touching scenes!!
"He was your friend wasn't he?"
"Yeah. He was."
😥😢😭
Here is were mens cry
Even to his last days, Shelby was heartbroken over the loss of his friend. I got to see one of Ken's Cobras when the Museum first opened and you could feel his influence and his pride in that car, and Shelby had a tear in his eye and a smile on his face when he touched it. Gave it a gentle pat, and turned away. I was a thirteen year old kid when I saw that, and I will never forget it.
Was it a 10mm?

Ken Miles was a giant amongst drivers but Donut should also do a video on another driving gift Mr Jim Clark. Easily the greatest car racer ever...no one has ever come close to his level of winning. Story: Russia wants a people's car, so a government car company gets an agreement with Fiat to build the 125 their way. The resulting car is sold for decades, mostly unchanged, becomes a meme.
@@dexterhochstetler3727 wrong. first lada was based on fiat 124 with production license. its pretty much same looking but better engine and suspension. the double headlighted lada was based on 125 special and it had 1500cc engine. which, if i know its not that powerful as fiat's :D the motor is all the same in every RWD Lada, only stroke is different sizes, later it got fuel injections system and stuff like that in 90's. i have heard that they still produce somewhere these 2105 or 2107 lada. which is all the same as in the 80's except ignition and fuel injection systems.
@@dexterhochstetler3727 ALSO it was not russian's car because they didnt make and sell them to russians, they sold them into europe and finland only, some of them got to canada and britain too. maybe somewhere else. very least of them was used by russians in 70-80's. then we (finnish people) sold most of our ladas to russians and estonians. and now they are coming likely back :D
