- In today's video we go over my new build focused on the brand new Ascension Aspect that maximizes it's uptime and potency as well providing a ton of other insane effects like a total of 81.63% Damage Resistance, high damage grenades AND competitive DPS!

Ever since they released the previews for The Final Shape the new Hunter Aspect Ascension really caught my eye and from then on I knew I wanted to make a build focused on it, which brings us to today's video! I went through lots of testing on Prismatic but eventually Settled on Arc Hunter since I believe it complements the playstyle far better than Prismatic ever could. The core of the build revolves around the neat interaction between the Arc Aspect Flow State and of course, Ascension. Ascension makes you Amplified, which with Flow State accelerates your class ability regeneration rate by 200% (or 3x) while Amplified, which results in you being able to spam the ability almost back-to-back also with the addition of a few important mods. Gifted Conviction is our choice of Exotic since it will make our Ascension spawn mini detonators that also Jolt but more importantly, any source of Jolt we apply will buff us with stacks of Resist, which at the maximum of x4 we get a 50% global Damage Reduction from all sources. This combined with our choices of Artifact perks and more makes for quite a potent and fun build, not to mention we still get to take advantage of Still Hunt to output competitive DPS. Fun fact: you can use Ascension while in the arc staff super. Pretty cool. In the D2 beta you used to be able to do a helicopter move like that in the super but they removed it in the full game so it’s cool to basically see it back but better :)
Yeah I remember playing the beta then being disappointed that the helicopter move didn't make it into the full thing, glad it's back now!

Drains your super energy unlike regular dodge, but it’s a nice alternative to Lethal Current to Jolt enemies. It’s also nice to set up the blinding ground slam.
I highly recommend using an Arc Ergo Sum, here's why:
- Stormbringer procs on Ascension kills just for holding the Ergo Sum Sword (it's amazing for ad clear);
- Arc Conductor gives you even more Damage Resistance against Arc Damage;
- Wolfpack Rounds are just more free damage for your Heavy Sword;
with spark of beacons fragment, the arc conductor kills count as arc special weapon final blows, so you trigger a ton of explosions on top of chain lighting, super fun ! and with 3 arc armor mods, you can generate hundreds of orbs
Now if only stormbringer, arc conductor and Wolfpack rounds would roll on the same sword so that you didn't have to swap between 3 of them to benefit...

Not sure if its intended but Ascension acts like sword while you are holding one, so things like blade stamina and other sword perks can proc off of ascension.
its an old glitch that happened to resurface. You used to be able to swap off a sword and quickly use a melee ability, or the other way around, and it would activate sword perks like tireless blade or whatever
I think I have seen my Ergo Sum cause ascension to spawn Colony Grenades, idk if it was consistent but i definitely think it has

Discovered this not long after getting the chest piece, got a sword with stormbringer (cloud strike perk) on it and using ascension makes me feel like Thor, providing the ability gets three or more kills it'll spawn lightning strikes. Same with the colony perk sword, that also works with this.

Some feedback if you’re willing to hear it - might be worth showing gameplay of the build in the bkg while you’re going through its components.
I think would let you get more gameplay in the video (esp of under power content ) but might take longer to make so idk. Up to you, build looks fun tho

I use prismatic with threaded Spector and ascension with radiant dance machines to make a clone and then use unlimited class ability for a bit. You turn into a helicopter lol

Hint. Use ascension for witness dps. It will save your ass as a panic button to dodge damage or if mid air and about to be a slam. Saved me lots of time.

Thanks for bringing this exotic to my attention - this is the most fun build I've run in a long time and it is surprisingly competitive in all but the highest level of content. I'm personally enjoying running an Ergo Sum with arc conductor, which paired with the ascension bug makes it an infinite-ammo arc-chaining machine that deletes any downtime from turning your foes into blue raspberry flavored ashes.
What is the ascension bug?

Yeah unless you run Facet of Blessing? to get faster class ability regen, I found it quite lackluster due to limited jolt.
What disappoint me is that ascension does not work what dodge you use, does not proc powerful attraction, dynamo, reaper mods, all mods that can be activated with class ability.
Yeah it's a bit of a bummer in that respect, I hope it's a bug and not intentional.
It's no longer a 'class ability' but an 'air move ' similar to other subclasses
comparing to pheonix dive which is also a class ability, albeit not requiting a aspect for it to work, phoenix dive does work with all the class ability armor mods so ascension should because its literally a whole aspect
@@flopre9213 to be fair, pheonix dive is a slotted ability. Icarus dash is an aspect as well as ascension, and the only thing icarus dash can benefit from exotic wise is rain of fire, just as ascension with gifted conviction. So the comparison of pheonix dive to ascension doesnt equate.
@ThatJunnyBoy icarus dash doesn't consume your class ability when you use it. So your counter argument also doesn't make sense.

Winter’s shroud gives 300% class ability charge rate for slowing an enemy, plus facet of hope, giving extremely quick class ability uptime, with prismatic hunter the dr available is way higher. 50% with 4x resist from Gifted, 30 (ish)% dr from frost armor, 50% dr from void overshield, plus, at 100 resil you get 30% passive dr
The issue is at this time Ascension does not proc class ability perks like winter's shroud. If it got a change where it did proc winter's shroud we could bring this play style to prismatic because we get the buffs in 1 go instead of 2.

Same exotic choice, however I do run it with Prismatic, since Tether is so strong as a debuff to bosses and you have Amplify damage reduction on top. Go Ascendent, Tether, Ascension, then pop a Dragon’s Breath on the boss, you’re doing so much damage and taking so little.

My absolute favourite sword pair is an Arc Wave Frame Ergo Sum. There is tech to preserve the Wave Frame's lunge with Ascension, allowing me to get massive speed while allowing more heavy weapon options. Any of the arc/global exotic perks work well with this build

Tempest Strike, Ascension, Jolt Grenades and Voltshot are what I run with this exotic. Everything is jolted and I can't die
Just a tip: amplified gives you 50 mobility, so only need 50 mobility stat + amplified for max 100 mobility.
What makes Ascension pretty potent is how it applies jolt to every target in it's cast radius instead of just one. Sure, one enemy with jolt does okay-ish damage in higher level content, but 6-7 enemies all jolted together, proccing off of each other? The damage really ramps up.
Ive been running something similar on Prismatic but i noticed you need to be relatively close when Jolting to proc the damage resist. I paired it with voltshot weapon, jolt on arc grenade and it was holding up well for me on prismatic. Also in prismatic with the winter shroud aspect, if you throw the withering blades and apply chill that way im pretty sure it provides the huge class regen from the aspect.

This build reminds me of the niche build that I thankfully was able to get going with Prismatic hunter that I've really been liking a lot using the new class item. I might not be able to get any of the super nukular punch variants, but what I HAVE been able to get was Inmost Light + Charachne.
Woven Mail on every single grenade toss, combined with Purpose + Silence and Squall for frost armor on orb pick up, with grapple + Threaded Spike so you can make tangles with the spike/drastically weaken enemies damage output, then 3 heavy handeds for constant orb generation on kill using recuperation for health regen. The DR even transfers into transcendence since the woven mail on grenade throw works with ANY grenade, allowing you throw out your needle, get a kill to spawn a tangle, fly in and smack a bi$%&, get more unravel kills, twirl into the air with Ascension to jolt everything around you, before re-grappling the tangle and continuing to grapple punch everything in the room with infinite DR. You get massive ability regen from inmost light x2 regen constantly being proced from your punch/grenade (the threaded spike procs it on every enemy it hits, and grapple melee just procs it a bunch too) making you able to twirl constantly, grapple melee even if your tangle gets blown up/you want to throw it at people and grapple to it, and the return on the spike + the regen makes that infinite too.
Will you do the most damage ever? no. Will you be basically immortal with every single DR effect in the game and have a massive fun time ability spamming the room and winning the battle of attrition? YEeesssss. (also run this with stylish to be able to drop off the map if things somehow get TO hectic, and to make the DR that much more potent as you only get shot every so often instead of all the time. Also nice to have weaken access too).
Ohh, and almost forgot, Awakening gives you ionic traces on arc multikills (which ascension provides quite readily with jolt), and does it on a pretty low cooldown (like 3-4 seconds), which helps the ability spam that much more while being a +10 to resilience on top of it. Arc Conductor Wave Frame Ergo Sum helps with this too (especially with the transcendence damage bonus). And you still get Facet of Protection for that nice small additional bump while surrounded to. *you just get it all*.
Does ascension have a shorter cooldown on marksman's dodge? If you aren't playing off the melee then marksman's would allow for 20% more spamming and also enable better DPS. Hate to have to reload your sword during DMG.
This build looks pretty fun, a lot like the warlock slide melee one that I've been playing with but with more survivability instead of weaken. And it would work against grims.
It would reduce the cooldown, I think the main point is to be able to fall back on Combination Blow looping if needed though
Would this DR also stack with riskrunner? Like could I just use my grenade to hurt myself since it’s not utilized AS much otherwise? Idk lemme know thoughts
Yes, as a few other commenters have pointed out, running either Riskrunner or an Arc Conductor Ergo Sum adds even more resist!
Using radiant dance machines, u can have asention forever once there are adds just jump in the air pop it and kill the adds and just before u touch the ground pop it again and keep it going your can move along the air with it as well

This is definitely dope, although I feel like there has to be a way to make it work on Prismatic too. The lack of Amplified/Facet of Hope synergy is a pain point but maybe you can work around it by using Silkstrike to have orbs grant Woven Mail instead? It'd be another big DR boost, though you'd need to keep making orbs to keep it up. EDIT: Apparently if you run Silence and Squall and get Frost Armor from orbs it lasts 10 seconds instead of 5 seconds which is pretty good. Just need to grab an orb every 10 seconds to keep the dodge regen uptime going

Flow state says that dodge recharges more quickly while amplified, which is not implied on the amplified buffa itself. So is the increased resistance, and dodge recharge only when using flow state? Or is the only thing flow state brings is amplifies when defeating jolted targets?
no, everything in the flow state aspect description is only because of flow state, those buffs to dodge dr and uptime while amplified are not passive on arcstrider or anything like that

This build does NOT hold up in endgame PvE content. At all. But I appreciate the effort!
My build uses Ascension with Tempest Strike using Disorienting Blow for the 10 second shorter cooldown, paired with Monte Carlo for faster regen. Using Gamblers dodge and pulse grenades. Fragments are Resistance, Amplitude, Ions, and Shock like in the video.
Main focus is keeping moderate distance since you need to be somewhat nearby for Jolt to proc. The build is still CQC but not melee focused like other builds, but Flow State is a good alternative if you don’t like Tempest Strike. I just like having a build that actually warrants its use.
Love the vids man. Build looks decent. Prob not for high lvl encounters but still good crafting
I actually ran this in the raid and it does very well, especially on the first 4 encounters. I had the least amount of deaths on the FT. You just gotta be smart with the play style.

It's kinda funny, I've been using a similar build from time to time, since obtaining this chest piece.
I've been using a Goldtusk with Tireless Blade and Chain Reaction though, and it is crazy ammo efficient (+ ever since obtaining it, I've also been using A Lightweight Arc Wolfpack Rounds Ergo Sum just so I can go even more ham)
Tempest strike with ascension is good too since strike got buffed and also jolts, so ascension, grenade and melee all jolt for the resist w the chestpiece
Honestly this is pretty impressive. Even when you only hit 2 enemies, you still get your dodge back pretty fast just from normal regen.
Honestly that's every single hunter build, the dodge has always been a quick cool down, this build doesn't really do anything special, just new and can be fun I guess lol

Wouldnt the class item with Renewal and Cyrtarachne perks on prismatic be higher
Looks like a super fun build. Like the alternative to Sunstar on Warlock haha.
I like using blink and the double dodge exotic, fun to just blink around clearing mobs, with how fast you move you get some good blink distance haha you also kinda get a double jump that does dmg while having blink.

Probably not worth it GMs but for the rest of the game pretty viable and fun!
I really hope they either extend the range at which jolting targets gets you damage resist or just get rid of it. It would make this exotic slot into a lot more builds and i dont think it would make it too overpowering

Eager Edge sword if you have one for the lunge distance then if not a Machine Gun also works!
For fun, I like Khvostov with shoot to loot for orbs generated via arc and kinetic siphon which heal and regen abilities and surges

Goldtusk legendary arc sword with assassin blade and chain reaction
I use flashbang grenade and the fragment that makes nades jolt. And I like spark of beacons to blind enemies with special and heavy ammo weapon kills along with ions

Can swap khvostov for some other shot to loot primary to run thunderlord as the heavy which works great too in my build

Does it work with tempest strike ascension? I know you don't get the ability spam I just love the idea of tempest striking into an ascension
Ascension is just so much fun. I highly recommended using it with gpg and radiant dance machines. I just consider it my fire Mario build. Constant goomba stomping and a lot of fireballs to throw. Strongest no, but very fun
Oversoul Edict. Eddy Current. Voltshot. Goldtusk for those of us who haven't hit the new raid yet. Izanagi's or preferred kinetic slot exotic that uses special ammo.

Nah you can use it, combination blow just instantly gives you your dodge back so that's why he uses it, but you can swap to either of the other melee abilities.

I really enjoyed this build even without the exotic armor. I was using The Sixth Coyote, but I should have been using Stomp-EEs for the airborne resistance instead.
How did you get the Untethered edge cape?
Do the quest for failsafe on the H.E.L.M for echos season quests and you will get it from the activity that unlocks with it
In encounters where you are close to the boss you can out perform gathering if you have star eaters

Using indebted kindness with voltshot has way more synergy with this build than a solar sniper
Prismatic can get higher with a renewal grasps + liar’s class item, you get woven mail, frost armor, amplified DR, resist facet and mods, overshields and devour with buried bloodline and the seasonal artifact
My arc hunter melee build does pretty much the same thing, it also heals although the healing is better with assassins cowl or liars handshake. From this video it looks like there’s a lot of steps to take to make this build viable. With the arc melee build all it takes really is combination blow, gamblers dodge, and exotic of ur choosing and the blessings of Zeus. Even that’s not really needed.
Yeah this build is just a cool lil thing to do with the new exotic, I wouldn't ever take this over the punchy build lol
@@josephatkinson6280 yea I mean the ad clear potential looked pretty nice but it’s mainly a display build. I feel like if you actually make that build you’re fine but if ur on a team with a thunder fist hunter, most of the ads are already gone by the time you use ascension
combo blow builds have been around for basically forever, though. this is new and has some other benefits (giving amplified DR to teammates on prismatic subclasses that might not otherwise have great access to it, superior AOE, no issues against exploding enemies, you can also still do combo blow looping in situations that call for it)
@@life-destiny1196 most of the variables you mentioned could be solved with simple weapon selections, in addition to what we can do with the punch + dodge loop, we also have weapons like forbearance and centrifuse, Nechrocasm and trinity ghoul. And obviously if u wanna give ur teamates arc buffs u can build for that but then again that’s not what liar’s handshake and assassins cowl is for is it?

For the sword, I’d just use goldtusk. It’s Craftable, arc, lightweight frame so I also can do that cool ninja run with bump to mobility

I never knew that amplified gives you +50 mobility! Is this true even if you're not using the fragment that increases class ability regen while you have it, or even while not using an arc subclass?
I believe so!
Yes, whenever you're Amplified it always gives +50 Mobility!
Amplified gives the following benefits: +50 mobility, 33% increased slide distance, +40 handling and a 0.95x handling animation scalar. While in Speed Booster you also get capped sprint speed, even more slide distance (50%), increased jump height, and 15% combatant DR.
Flow State on hunter adds the 200% class ability regen, 50 reload speed and a 0.8x animation scalar, and 66% DR while in dodge animation.

Hit up some high end content with this, does this do the same against champions, like overload and whatnot. I like to hit the pale heart now to test out builds.
Ascension does hit Overloads, so I’ve been running Sidearm and Submachine Gun for the other types. We can handle all 3 :)

This build seems like it'd love having Buried Bloodline if you can find a way to get reasonable DPS without Still Hunt. Maybe hotswap to Tractor for DPS and be that player on the team? I always struggled with attrition on high DR builds that don't include some way to recover health; Recuperation is a big help but not always it
I want to try this build with an ergo sum arc conductor and wave frame or vortex frame sword
I've been using this build ever since I've gotten the exotic, and I'll say that you can improve the build by equipping marksman dodge because it recharges your class ability faster. Also, you could use disorienting blow to blind enemies since you don't need to use your melee.
Gamblers dodge is better, instantly refreshing your melee, which instantly refreshes your dodge. Marksman dodge is only good for weapon DPS rotations.
He also said the same thing about disorienting blow, but again the combination blow plus gamblers is just the all around better choice. Health Regen, instant ascension cooldown, plus extra DPS for tankier builds with combo blow.
yeah, while it's not 100% all-in on combination blow like a Cowl build would be, it's still good to have the option to stack that up if the situation calls for it.
I picked the other exotic at the end of the campaign :( is there any way for me to get this now?

man thank you so much, after prismatic, people only want melee or nighthawk hunters, ascension and gifted conviction get my attention right when they teased early, this build is well round as fuck, one of the best i've watched for hunter (dope fashion too, fits perfectly)

Pretty nice but i feel like it should release the balls on super hits with the super as well with things like jolt on gathering storm or stareaters this exotic already needs that buff

I actually think a better way to do this is buried bloodline with cata, it doesn't contribute to the arc AT ALL but you trade it for devour, if you get that into rotation you can maintain it by just killing.
You could totally make this build with prismatic and still get your class ability back fast enough.
Cool, but I can clear that lost sector just as fast with Sunshot. Why should I consider using this over other builds?

I thought bomber does not pair with ascension as it doesnt actually count as a class ability?
Use the first ascent strides for boots instead, they'll make your character look way better for the look youre going for lol
