Honestly that's a bit of a criticism of the set for me. As nice as it is to have somewhere for R4's body, it makes the cockpit area way too bulky. I had the same issue with the 2017 one.
I don’t think this was intentional, but I’ve noticed you can also use it to hold the hood and radar dish pieces instead. It’s nice to have options depending on whether you want a play pattern that allows R4 to leave the ship or not.
This is actually my favorite Obi Wan figure they’ve ever made, something about it being episode 2 Obi Wan, the robe, and the facial expressions it includes really sells it for me.
I always just go on bricklink and get a spare head and keep it on the ships permanently. It helps having extra astromechs when r2 can’t be in every ship
It looks better than I originally thought based on the pics, but I still think the cockpit area is raised too high. I'll still probably pick this up and try to flatten it out a bit though, and fix those wing gaps
Yeah, the raised cockpit is just very weird. I’ll have to rewatch the actual movie version and see this in person to understand if it’s “right” or not.
Most stores in the UK sell this for £24.99, I picked this up for that price and I'm very happy with the build and figures. Great review as always Jang!
I love this set ! I love the Kaminoan figure a lot I kinda wished they added the other one with the different head shape but I’m happy we got one finally !
Bought it yesterday unplanned. Went to buy some groceries and I decided to check the new stuff out at my local toystore and I couldn't contain myself. Temptation is dangerous...
Great little set. Kaminoan could have used a tall sloped brick for the legs (the one that is even taller than the one they used to use as a skirt piece). It looks like Obi Wan is doing the "visibly confused" face from when he hears about the clone army.
I have the first version of this ship in Lego, all the way back from 2002. I still think that one captured the look the best, and the way it included working landing legs was amazing.
I'm shocked I paid 17€ for this in Amazon! The value of this set is amazing. The ship looks really clean and detailed, accurate size. The stickers were a bit too much but they pay off. The new Kaminoan it's great for a Lego rendition, few compromises had to be made (the innacurate height or the neck) but it looks great. For me the highlight of this set is episode 2 Oni-Wan. Wow they nailed the look, the printing is flawless! Good job Lego with this one! Hope to say this for upcoming releases
The odds that you’ll actually see this are very very low, but in the event that you do see this I want to say thank you so much for making your content. I always was (and still am) a huge fan of Lego. You always made me happy and I loved (and still do) watching you review Lego Star Wars sets. You absolutely made my childhood man. I remember when I wouldn’t be feeling to well/sad I watched one of your videos and it always cheered me up. You gave me such a great childhood and always made me happy. And for that I thank you a hundred times over. Keep up the amazing work ❤️
I still believe 9498 is the best jedi starfighter they have produced for a mainline release. No gaps, nice proportions and a lovely design. It hasn't aged badly at all either.
i love this set a lot and all the little details. i like R4s body compartment too even if it does make it a little less sleek. i really hope this means we get a jangos slave 1 at the same scale as bobas from earlier. jango is my fav character and getting his fig is a dream ! and maybe even young boba
I think it sits up too high with the "landing gear" in the back, so I took off the inverted slope pieces and left the disc piece on the bottom. Turns out this works pretty well, emphasizes the low profile nature of the starfighter, and the front landing gear can ratchet to a lower position that makes it work really well too!
I love this design of the craft especially the astromech port it’s simple and you don’t need to put the whole figure and make the underside be larger than it needs to be
It's funny that they went back to doing it this way, which is how it was on the first iteration of this set/ship...I think the reasoning for the full astromech slot was that for play purposes it was better to be able to take the astromech in and out easily without having to disassemble it, makes for a smoother play experience. But eventually it was adding too much bulk to implement in such a small ship, plus it's also a nice feature to be able to spin the astromech's head around, so not a bad change overall.
One of my personal favorite starships, with my favorite appearance of my favorite jedi AND with one of my favorite alien species in star wars finally after all these years in minifigure form! Now i really hope we get some actual kamino sets that would be wild
Love this ship. I used some snot pieces i had lying around to move the stud shooters to the underside of the body right in front of the front landing gear which both hides the stud shooters and helps hide the gap between the wings.
I got my old version seating on my shelf . Absolutely no stickers and all prints . Sleek long and no gaps. This was a more than a decade model . Seems like Lego is moving backwards than forward.
That version was indeed sleeker. However, the nose on the "real" one is a bit flatter, so the old version was maybe lacking there a bit. But the use of prints and the lack of gaps vs this new version, does show that new isn't always better.
After years of Anakin getting starfighters left and right, Obi-wan has his turn to shine! I have his Eta-2 interceptor from 2016, but the Delta will always be my true love from the franchise, and to finally get another crack at this ship in an affordable non-TRU exclusive with a great Minifigure selection after 20 years? You've got my money.
I always loved the Jedi Starfighter and this one is probably my favorite version, putting the stickers on were a pain in the ass but they look really good. It's sad you can't store away the communication dish but when in flight I just fold it backwards while it faces the front, it doesn't look too bad like that.
I wonder if they'll recycle this new Kaminoan head/neck and use it with the double arms from the Solo-monkey-alien-pilot to make a Gasgano for a Gasgano Pod Racer set
The Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter looks awesome, mostly because of the Taun Wee Minifigure. I don't own the 2017 Jedi Starfighter and Hyperdrive set so this should be a good set I would to add to my collection. Very impressive
I don't know why I thought this set was from the Obi-wan series and would be a "spoiler." I can see now it obviously isn't, haha. It would have been pretty awesome though, if Obi-wan had his starfighter buried in the desert too, and flew it again. Ah well. It is a good set and good value, though!
Unpopular opinion I miss lightsaber bubbles, some kinda looked like streaks of plasma or atmospheric gas reaction to a saber being ignited imo - in certain light it added a neat refraction also, unless that was my imagination lol
I got this for £18 here in UK, and must say the value at the original non-inflated RRP of £25 is definitely there, and with minifigures, I would agree $30 is good.
It's probably not actually a sale. £25 was the original price and is what it was intended to be when they got their stock (that's what Amazon's pre-order were at a couple of months ago and it was even the price when the set was first on the LEGO website). It was later increased to £30 but it seems a lot of places didn't get the memo.
Honestly, as nice as this is and how far Lego has come, I think I still prefer the 2002 version. Smaller, sleeker, more accurate, and less thick. Kinda wish they did that rather than keeping the same form factor as the Delta-7b kits. Though that said, with the new parts and such shouldn't be too hard to MOC down
I'ts not bad, but i find the main (middle) section too blocky and detached from the wings. It doesn't look like a sleek uniform ship, but a block with 2 wings that join in the tip
In my opinion, the Speed Champions line offers a much superior build experience for a substantially lower price, than the Star wars line, when looking at comparably sized sets.....
Pro tip, buy two. Sell the second set of figures. Use the extra pieces to get rid of the gaps between the body and the wings. Also remove the pin pieces that keep the wings from bending so you can have a less steep angle
Being new to getting back into lego and mainly Lego star wars glad to see my main pick ups, this, and the newest slave-1, are a thumbs up from the man 👍 (but I still got them on sale at target 😂) I'm still debating on all the bad batch stuff, but I feel like it's going to be forgotten about within a year so 🤷
I got this for 25€ on sale and I absolutely love this Set. Also it isn't 35€ in Germany. It's retail prices here is still 30€ but maybe it'll change in September. (Good deal because the Clone Wars era starfighters also were 25€ each but with less figures) I wanted a Taun We Minifigure ever since the original Lego Star Wars Video Game and I'm so happy we finally got one. Would love a Lama Su figure as well. Maybe in a D2C Kamino Set? Also i have one huge point of criticism. The dish you can put next so R4 is in front of a Sticker piece and when you try rotating the dish I Imagine it being possible to scratch of the sticker. A simple stud could fix that but it's imo not a good design choice. Oh and I finally (sadly) got a R4 with a misprinted head... Yeah I'm unhappy because I like R4.
I never buy day one. I bought TWO of these pre-ordered. Half for the figs, half for GWP, but mostly because the original was among my favorite sets of my youth.
Accounting for taxes, the UK/EU prices actually aren't too bad (relative to the USA). Haven't seen any discounts where I am yet, though. Usually that's only when a set is retiring and they want to clear space for newer ones.
I really can't stand these types of starfighters without the astromech ports, this is giving me flashbacks to the earlier models and I don't like it. :P I want the Kaminoan, though.
I'd prefer if it was 5 bucks cheaper. The Anakin's Starfighter which came before this had one less fig and it was less detailed but it was 20 bucks and doesn't come with a massive sticker sheet.
I like the size, i always feel a bit iffy when vehicles are supersized (looking at you, AT-RT). But jebus, that Taun We is just... urgh. Should've used a Friends figure or *something* more elegant.
It didn't. The astromech had to be modified and integrated, meaning the dome remained intact but it's components were wired directly into the ship. In Episode II, R4 remains attached to the ship whilst Obi-Wan leaves. There was a revision, the model "B", which moved the astromech to a larger socket in front of the cockpit, and allowed for a normal astromech droid to be inserted. That's seen in Lego's version of Anakin's starfighter
If i'm honest it feels way to thick, by comparison to the cg and hasbro variants.. and the astromech isn't correct, the r4 didn't fit in the delta-7, only in the 7b but on this version it was just the head being afixed to the ship..
YES!!! Star Wars ships should always come with storage for minifig-accessoires for the minifigs meant as designated driver/pilot. But seeing how this one can only hold the astromech body (and the lightsaber, but i don't like those visible clips on the outside, tbh), they might as well have left out that storage and make the build more accurate, seeing how i'll have to keep the hood/hairpiece and the communications-dish on the side anyways.
I have the set and i really like it. Overall, it looks pretty good (even though there are way, way, WAY too many stickers for a set that small, but i'll admit that those stickers definitely add to the set). I especially like the minifigs... for starters, one can never have too many astromechs (as long as it's not just R2-D2s...) and Taun We and this new Obi-Wan look great (although i do wish that Obi-Wan came with a second head completely without his headpiece printed on, not just an alternate face without it... that goes for all the different Jedi Starfighter sets, btw). A Jango Fett would have been great, too, but i know, a third named figure in a SW set for 30 bucks would be pushing it. However, i do have two big issues with it. First things first, however: Note that my issues come from an adult's point of view, someone who mainly likes to build and look at those sets, maybe swoosh it around a bit here and there, not a kid who actively plays with it a lot. Issue 1) The additional bulk for the Astromech-body storage. I don't mind that per se. Sure, it's not completely accurate, but so what... it still fits the build and generally, i think any vehicle should come with storage space for any accessoires meant for the designated driver/pilot of that vehicle. However, that storage space should hold ALL accessoires. Here, though, there's only room for the Astromech-body. But what about Obi-Wan's hood (or hairpiece, if he wears the hood), the extra studs for the shooters (don't particularly like the new stud shooters, either, tbh, too bulky imo, even worse than the old ones, lookswise), the lightsaber (because i don't like it when they store it visibly on the outside) and the communications-aray/dish? If i have to store things on the side anyways, they might as well have left the storage for the astromech out as well and make it more accurate. And yeah, that's something that would have bothered me as a kid, too. Issue 2) The gaps. Not great, they shouldn't be there. And honestly, gaps that obvious and awful are becoming quite frequent in Star Wars sets these days... don't like that AT ALL! They can do better, have so in the past and should do so again.
I prefer this over the overpriced 100 Euro set from 2017, that only had the rather useless hyperdrive ring. This is a nice set here. Similar to Anakins Delta 7 from 2018, but better.
I have this one and the 2002 version (7143) and I have to say, the 2002 version is still superior in my opinion. The whole raised cockpit and fuselage on this model just doesn't really look correct for the Jedi Starfighter. The 2002 version of the Jedi Starfighter has a flatter shape in the fuselage, a more pointy end, no gaps between the wings and better use of landing gears. I understand Lego wants to include a body for the astromech droid but why can't the body be stored beneath the ship or something instead of bulking up the ship like this?
Honestly this looks terrible to me. Far too blocky and the cockpit section is raised way too high. 7143, a set from 20 years ago, looks better than this to me...
Apologies for forgetting about the front compartment (a section lifts off to reveal a hollow space to put the rest of R4-P17 there in flight mode)
I know it’s not really accurate, but I personally love the storage for R4’s body
I always just go on bricklink and get a spare head and keep it on the ships permanently. It helps having extra astromechs when r2 can’t be in every ship
Yeah it just adds to the set without changing much
It is accurate to them ripping off the heads of the astromechs in real life to fit them on the props :)
It looks better than I originally thought based on the pics, but I still think the cockpit area is raised too high. I'll still probably pick this up and try to flatten it out a bit though, and fix those wing gaps
Agreed. The 2017 set had the same issue due to the compartment to store R4's body.
Lego has yet to figure out how to do a Delta-7 without making it way too tall. pretty much all of them are way thicker than they should be.
Yeah, the raised cockpit is just very weird. I’ll have to rewatch the actual movie version and see this in person to understand if it’s “right” or not.
I was thinking that too
Yeah I didn’t like it with Anakin’s CW fighter. Wish it could be lower
Most stores in the UK sell this for £24.99, I picked this up for that price and I'm very happy with the build and figures. Great review as always Jang!
I love this set ! I love the Kaminoan figure a lot I kinda wished they added the other one with the different head shape but I’m happy we got one finally !
That's Speed Champion levels of stickers right there!
2:21 gap at wing can be mod by using 32028 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Door Rail [Dark Red]
I like how they redesigned how the engines connect. On the last one, 75214, Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, the engines were too easy to knock off.
I recently picked up this set, and it's quite impressive with its playability
Bought it yesterday unplanned. Went to buy some groceries and I decided to check the new stuff out at my local toystore and I couldn't contain myself. Temptation is dangerous...
Great little set. Kaminoan could have used a tall sloped brick for the legs (the one that is even taller than the one they used to use as a skirt piece). It looks like Obi Wan is doing the "visibly confused" face from when he hears about the clone army.

Good job Lego with this one! Hope to say this for upcoming releases
2022 has been a good year for Lego star wars!
These are some of the best lego star wars sets I've seen in a far while.
the Ben hair piece is awsome
The odds that you’ll actually see this are very very low, but in the event that you do see this I want to say thank you so much for making your content. I recently moved and used this video to repair my broken obi-wan ship, thank you!
I love this design of the craft especially the astromech port it’s simple and you don’t need to put the whole figure and make the underside be larger than it needs to be

A mini doll would have give the Kaminoans a skinnier look, whick is more accurate.
One of my personal favorite starships, with my favorite appearance of my favorite jedi AND with one of my favorite alien species in star wars finally after all these years in minifigure form!
Now i really hope we get some actual kamino sets that would be wild

Love the new alien head

I think the previous one, with the hyperdive booster ring, had a superior build
Yeah. But that one had a ridiculous price.
wooaaah, I really need this set😆It looks fantastic. Thanks for this great review!!
After years of Anakin getting starfighters left and right, Obi-wan has his turn to shine! Just found your channel, I'm really enjoying the way you do set reviews!
LEGO Star Wars 2022 7+ 75333 Obi Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter Set
The Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter looks awesome, mostly because of the Taun Wee Minifigure. I don't own the 2017 Jedi Starfighter and Hyperdrive set so this should be a good set I would to add to my collection. Very impressive
hopefuly next year we'll get a Jango recolor of the boba fett ship to go along with this.
This set would have been great if it weren’t for those gaps
I’m glad they made the stud shooters easy to leave off
Really nice set with a new figure !
Glad to see LEGO Star Wars is getting a good value, cheaper set with some unique figs. Seems few and far between nowadays.
This set is already available in several UK stores for £24.99. You were right, goes on sale fast over here
It's probably not actually a sale. £25 was the original price and is what it was intended to be when they got their stock (that's what Amazon's pre-order were at a couple of months ago and it was even the price when the set was first on the LEGO website).
It was later increased to £30 but it seems a lot of places didn't get the memo.
Awesome review Jang 😎👍I really need to get this one I couldn't afford the one with hyperdrive ring so I definitely need to get this one
Thanks Jang. Nice review. Thanks LEGO nice set.🤠
The obi wan figure is the seccond best beside the kaminoan because this is the first we got a kaminoan
I'm not a Star Wars person but I really like this set, not gonna lie. Might actually buy it.
I wasn't huge on this set at first but its really grown on me and now I am going to get it 😂
Being new to getting back into lego and mainly Lego star wars glad to see my main pick ups, this, and the newest slave-1, are a thumbs up from the man 👍 (but I still got them on sale at target 😂) I'm still debating on all the bad batch stuff, but I feel like it's going to be forgotten about within a year so 🤷
I must say this is my favorite print for obi wan so far. Switch the hairpiece with one from rots and get perfection
Really Great set overall and good price.
Where will you store your jango figure if you capture him?
I got this for 25€ on sale and I absolutely love this Set. Also it isn't 35€ in Germany. It's retail prices here is still 30€ but maybe it'll change in September.
(Good deal because the Clone Wars era starfighters also were 25€ each but with less figures)
I wanted a Taun We Minifigure ever since the original Lego Star Wars Video Game and I'm so happy we finally got one.
Yeah I'm unhappy because I like R4.
the sand blue looks better here than it did during the stream, maybe it's just lighting
Could potentially see more kaminoans in future bad batch sets (if they do any more from season 1)
A pretty neat set!
Picked one of these up for $39AUD on sale, extremely happy with that price vs the regular price of $50AUD
Now it's 40€ but I'm really excited about buying it!
Is the entire thing too short for the size if the computer cockpit area? Looks like it to me, but I could be wrong
i remember watching you when i was like 7 years old. i’m 16 now.
I never buy day one. I bought TWO of these pre-ordered. Half for the figs, half for GWP, but mostly because the original was among my favorite sets of my youth.
Weird that there are empty spaces in it, but it’s pretty good!
Accounting for taxes, the UK/EU prices actually aren't too bad (relative to the USA).
Haven't seen any discounts where I am yet, though. Usually that's only when a set is retiring and they want to clear space for newer ones.
Considering they are making long legs for Avatar 2, I would have thought they would use them here also.
TAUN WE IS SO GOOD
I really can't stand these types of starfighters without the astromech ports, this is giving me flashbacks to the earlier models and I don't like it. :P
I want the Kaminoan, though.
How can't lego figure out how to do the prints for droid heads? :(
I’m so confused by the variance in prices especially post-hike. There are some great buys and some head scratchers.
If only it didn't have those gaps, this set would be pretty much perfect.
You made it
kif from futurama?
I'd prefer if it was 5 bucks cheaper. The Anakin's Starfighter which came before this had one less fig and it was less detailed but it was 20 bucks and doesn't come with a massive sticker sheet.
My favorite one is still the original one. I persoally dont like this one but in hand it is probably nicer . The price is nice and some nice figures.
I like the size, i always feel a bit iffy when vehicles are supersized (looking at you, AT-RT). But jebus, that Taun We is just... urgh. Should've used a Friends figure or *something* more elegant.
Watch the price of this set raise above the roof when it retires for that Kaminoan alone-
It's OK for it's price. Personally, I wouldn't have minded a slightly higher price for a better version, on the Lightyear ship model.
Where does R4’s body go in the in-universe model?
Inside a socket in one of the wings.
It doesn't; R4 has no body and is actually part of the ship.
In-universe, R4 is just an astromech head integrated into the starfighter.
R4 doesn’t have a body, in universe its also only the head
Just bought it for 23 euros!
good deal
The Taun We minifig looks good but I think I would’ve preferred the mini doll!
If i'm honest it feels way to thick, by comparison to the cg and hasbro variants.. and the astromech isn't correct, the r4 didn't fit in the delta-7, only in the 7b but on this version it was just the head being afixed to the ship..
Bought this for the kaminoan, kinda disappointed in how it looks, its just kinda scary
I bought this and I was very satisfied with it, if you are a fan of this starship then you will be too
The price it's find in dollars sadly in mexican peso with the new price increase costs $849 that is literally $42 dollars!
3 words: not flat enough.
Another 3 words: Lego, try harder.
This is a great set but I wish there was a second storage compartment for the hood/hair pieces when the other is in use.
Forget R4 on kamino and then you have one
Every starfighter should come with a dressing room
same, exactly what I thought as well
The stickers scare me
I litteraly just want that alien gal.
The amount of stickers for such a small set kind of makes me wary. I think the set still would look good without a few of them.
Why did they even make R4’s body? All we ever saw of her was her head, so why not just include that?
Honestly this looks terrible to me. Far too blocky and the cockpit section is raised way too high.
7143, a set from 20 years ago, looks better than this to me...
:)
Lego is over charing by at least $15
