The best tip ever is to actually type your address into the address bar, if you do this your pickups will be way more reliable because sometimes the GPS is off by a little bit and it just guesses what the nearest address is to the pin

@@louyht7 Well with Uber it depends on where you go and what times you go. At peak hours to go see my girlfriend who lived about 20 miles away it was about 35 bucks. That same distance during slow hours would only run me about 17-20.
@@louyht7 the app usually tells you but honestly peak hours are 9am-5pm on weekdays (work schedule), and on weekends it's usually late night that are peak hours since people are going out. But yeah the app will tell you. I will say that Uber does have like a minimum price. So even if you're going 5 minutes away it still will probably be like 15 bucks or so.

Planning on using UBER for the 1st time in February 2024 when I fly into Houston Hobby Airport and down to Galveston, TX. Have been watching RUclips videos for navigating the UBER APP and I believe I have it. QUESTION: Planning on giving a good tip. Should I put it on my Credit Card or Cash Tip?? If I provide a cash tip and no tip is indicated on the APP does that hurt the Driver?? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work.
I SO appreciate that you tip. Most people don't, which really hurts the drivers. Tips are the only thing that keep them on the road. Cash tips are best because they don't get taxed. But the app is fine too. It's all appreciated. Tips do not affect the driver's rating at all.

I installed the app o on my smartphone, and it's accessible with my screen reader. I have one question. So, when I already scheduled my ride from Point A to Point B, am I required to show my physical debit card once I arrive to my destination? Or can I just show my driver the phone that has the Uber charge on it? Or is it already paid for once the Uber driver sees it on his, or her smart phone? So, if I leave my debit card at home, I don't have to show it, if I'm required to when I arrive at my destination? I feel confident in scheduling my first Uber ride. And I always stick with the cheapest price when choosing a ride. So thank you for this awesome tutorial. I'll have to check out the app before scheduling a ride.

Thanks for the reply. I have a reservation for tomorrow AM. When I click on the "Reserve" Icon, I see my reservation, there is a driver listed, and under details, it lists the pickup time, location, and destination. Near the top the drivers name is listed as "Steven is assigned", and thats about it. I don'r know what to expect, and will be worried until I get picked up. thanks
@michaelaltshuler5810 I understand. Just check the app maybe 15 minutes before your pick-up time. and make sure that someone is on the way. They will sometimes reassign the driver if there's somebody closer or the driver cancels beforehand. It's rare but it does happen. If you are in a bigger city with a lot of drivers, even if your reservation gets dropped, there's usually a driver that'll come get you no matter what.

The driver doesn't know any personal information about the rider other than your location and your first name. This is only one reason why they might cancel your ride because Uber doesn't think of the drivers safety at all. Drivers would also like to know the description of the passengers too but they don't.

If you have a little clock icon in the where to? line in your app, then yes you can. I just tap on the little clock icon and schedule your pick up time. Unfortunately this option is not available everywhere.

It's never a bad I idea to find a RUclips video for anything you'd like to learn so you have some knowledge in advance of whatever you want to accomplish. The Uber app seems simple enough but I have not used an Uber yet and feel like I have a better understanding of how it works now.
Mary Ryan Roman, you have to setup a payment method in the Uber app after you've downloaded it. It's super easy, you just enter your debit or credit card. You can also pay with Paypal or a prepaid Uber card.

the driver isn't gonna knock on your umpteenth floor apartment door, son. the apartment building address should be enough, and you would be outside the building when the driver shows up anyway.
When you order the Uber the car will start heading towards you immediately and it will tell you how soon the driver will arrive. Unless you schedule an Uber for specific time. Usually when you order the Uber your driver will be there within minutes and you can follow them heading your way and see exactly where they are in the app.
This is NOT working for me! First off, it does not show my current location. Only the "Where to?" box. The car icons are not moving. The screen keeps going from close in to broader view, without me touching it. Sometimes, I don't even see any car icons. Watching this has not helped.
I don't have a Google account, but I can still install the Uber app by downloading the .APK installer file to my phone and installing it directly. However I can't get the app to work properly after it's been installed. So do I actually need a Google account to use Uber?
You can. But when you schedule the ride and a driver accepts it, your Uber app should show a picture of the driver, a picture of their car and their license plate number. Just be sure to check when they pick you up that all those things are correct.
OK, your initial screen does NOT look like my initial screen. This isn't helping. When I start the app, the first thing I see is a map of the area and a choice between "Where to?" or Schedule.I just wanted to get an idea of the typical Uber charge without actually scheduling a ride. This video does not help.
Up in the left-hand corner of the opening screen are three lines. If you tap into there you'll see a payment section. This is where you would set up either PayPal a debit or credit card. Uber drivers don't take cash.

As long as you're the person that ordered the Uber, it will show you where the driver is after he's accepted the ride.

You cannot pay cash. You need to have a credit/debt card or bank account to pay.

Yes, you can buy them at several stores. Target for one.
Can you choose the time of pickup. Just in case you wanna plan an hour ahead?

When you order the Uber the car will start heading towards you immediately and it will tell you how soon the driver will arrive. Unless you schedule an Uber for specific time. Usually when you order the Uber your driver will be there within minutes and you can follow them heading your way and see exactly where they are in the app.
This is NOT working for me! First off, it does not show my current location. Only the "Where to?" box. The car icons are not moving. The screen keeps going from close in to broader view, without me touching it. Sometimes, I don't even see any car icons. Watching this has not helped.

I don't have a Google account, but I can still install the Uber app by downloading the .APK installer file to my phone and installing it directly. However I can't get the app to work properly after it's been installed. So do I actually need a Google account to use Uber?

You can. But when you schedule the ride and a driver accepts it, your Uber app should show a picture of the driver, a picture of their car and their license plate number. Just be sure to check when they pick you up that all those things are correct.

OK, your initial screen does NOT look like my initial screen. This isn't helping. When I start the app, the first thing I see is a map of the area and a choice between "Where to?" or Schedule.I just wanted to get an idea of the typical Uber charge without actually scheduling a ride. This video does not help.

Up in the left-hand corner of the opening screen are three lines. If you tap into there you'll see a payment section. This is where you would set up either PayPal a debit or credit card. Uber drivers don't take cash.
