Hi Nick I hope you can get your mg42 fixed and I hope you are alright you have inspired me to start collecting and I’m on 13 😂 I have a small collection and I would like to send you something to you thanks.
@@henryspadt6160 This. I thought my area was a deadzone for WWII reenacting, but I just recently found out there is a place about two hours from me that does two "tactical" events (events that are closed to the public so you can actually use accurate squad tactics and whatnot) annually. I definitely would love to try it out at some point!
Hi Nick, I just wanted to tell you that your channel is awesome and inspired me to start WWII reenacting. My first Immersion event is this coming January. Without you I would not be here. Thank you
Isn’t it so hard to imagine what any soldier during WWII went through in the winter with temperatures in the -15+? Well done done doing the whole night sleeping part to give us the viewer a idea of what it was like for months on end for these guys. 👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great video 👍 And respect for putting the boots of in the tent, that's not easy. When I am at an event, I just wear my boots all the time. Historicaly correct 😅 I read an diary of a veteran who also said, the only situation he put the shoes off, was when he took a shower. For the rest, it was usually for him to wear them all the time even if it was 4 weeks in a row. But yeah, socks were inexistent after a longer time, they just decomposed with the time 😅
I really like these cold night videos (like the bunker one too). A Christmas feeling one would be neat. Hot coffee when you're miserable and cold - nothing better for suffering folks and GIs. Nice job!!
Very good video! It brought back a lot of memories for me, but I never did WWII reenacting. I did American Civil War reenacting for over 30 years. Your sharing of your experience with the cold reminded me of doing an event in 15-degree (F) weather with 40MPH wind gusts in an open field with small 'dog' tents and yes, we had a reenactor die from exposure at that event. But we didn't have a mattress, nothing but straw and a wool blanket. Yes, it does very much make you appreciate what ALL the fellows before us went through. My hat is off to you!
Hi Nick Quick message, thankyou for your videos. I have always been interested in ww2 and now thanks to you I have been reenacting for over a year now!
My Dad was in three of the Major Battles over there! The Battle of Northern France, Battle of the Bulge at St. Vith, and the of the Rhineland! I have always hoped to get over there and see where it was he was I have some pictures of him there! I'm old now and it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon! But I enjoy watching you on your channel keep up the good work!!
I wish I lived in a country that does historical reenactments, you certainly take advantage of all the reenactments in your area😂 Keep up the great videos!
I've been following your channel for a couple years now and I freaking love your videos dude. Your attention to detail and determination to re-enact to the most realistic extent is just so awesome. As a history major, I'm hoping one day soon I can get the opportunity to travel to Europe and take part in something like this.
My great uncle served in the Battle of the Bulge (746th Tank Battalion), although he died. Anyways, I love your content, and please keep making great videos like these!
Wow, what an another, amazing video of you! Been their as a US soldier in these winter conditions in the Ardennes. Also with the great reenactment days, you almost think that you are in real battle against the germans. Can't wait to see the next video!!!
I remember as kids I wanted to re-enact the battle of the bulge with some of my neighborhood friends in the forest/woods we had nearby, we took a few shovels/airsoft rifles and gears and one of the kids shouted can I be KAMPFGRUPPEN PEIPER! I thought my grandpa was gonna have a damn stroke lol! He said: how do you know about that? lol 😂
Wij waren vroeger in het nederlandse landmacht infanterie. Lets go on in english.. We were in the Dutch Army in the 80ties. We did 2 winters and also colt very colt.. First days they didnt let us put on a goat.. everything we had to do in a overall and sneekers! Not luxury sneekers but very cheap ones with barely a sole on them.. We learned to march and all comados of drill. After that we went outside the base and head to sleep in summer sleeping bags !! We tried to get up but it was so colt you got cramps in youre legs !! Then the seargant calles out a litle mars and we all warmed up again.. ! Also a method you never forget ! We the 47 panser infanterie Menno v Coehoorn had a lot off fun those times but is was also very hard some times ! Something you never forget in daily live !! You can alwais do more if you think you had it they learned us !! We also did funny stuf like the day we had to attack a town,, We all had camouflaged helmeds with hay and brushes on it,,, some of the guys took there lighters and put the other guys helmed on fire ,,, Wich he didnt notist at first .... WE went down of laughter !! Got lots of those storys !! Becasue yea i was in the real army !! Cu ,, former Tank (ipr) Gunner ! 47 Menno v Coehoorn
Bit of modern day winter camping tip for you. Change into dry shocks and underwear before you get your head down in your sleeping bag. Otherwise the sweat in your socks and undies will freeze during the night keeping your feet and butt cold...and awake! Hence change them before going to sleep
Man! That's an very fun reenactment! I will have an reenactment only Next year on 14th of January which is not that long from this Time Going to be an Latvian voulenteer in the German wehrmacht
Nick my God it really must have bin freezing over in the Ardennes I noticed we saw a little mir elf your American reenactment gear.have fun in the next reenactment hope your fire was good max Bennie B. Bellomy Rest In Peace 😢
It must of been a cold lonely night because @ 9.25 it sounded like you needed some alone time..LOL, im not sure if you told us how cold it was either 😊😊..WOW that dog tag was a great find, God less Bennie & God less Them All
Hello Nick, you are by far my favourite RUclipsr. I love your content and I always will. I’m a year 7 kid in England so I am not yet open or allowed to attend re-enactments till I am 16. I do have a big collection though with uniforms and things. What tips do you have for a history lover of my age?
Hey Nick, me again. I was wondering how I can get into reenacting the Second World War and if there are any requirements needed/suggested to get started? Thanks for your time.
He did it again! A great video it looks like an amazing experience, I hope i can join you next time, such a great event. I think it's time to play World of Warships now =p

I wished where I lived there would be large scale re-enactments like this. Very fun video History Secret!

Same I might be a teenager but I still want that
You’d be suprised at the scale of re-enactments that you are near but don’t know of the vast majority are reenactor only so nobody knows about them

Looks like fun! Reminds me of camping in -50 degree weather last winter
Like the black and white video outside. Looks like the WWII film Battleground starring Van Johnson and James Whitmore as Sgt. Kinney.

On civil war reenactments some of us would sleep next to the camp fire to stay warm.
Very cool reenactment nick! There was a veteran near me who passed away a year or two ago who was in the battle and many other famous battles in WWII.
There arent too many people who can tell about themselves:

You know what’s funny is that when I started in the Army in 1992 at 16 we still used those cookers and heximine tabs 😂
We all changed over to gas cookers a few years after then Jetboils
They even still use these today in the Dutch army! 😂 A nice and authentic way!
