@fanTheDeck Congrats on 100k- I would like Steam to take an Xbox design labs approach. I'm old so the 90s transparent like Motorolla pagers that came in colors like Mt.Dew green or Root beer sparkle would be tempting. Official color options would be great as I really enjoy my Steam Deck- but I do not feel confident opening it and swapping things around like for a full case mod. I'd rather not take the risk of messing something up. Thanks!
I'm kind of surprised they haven't invested in a steam deck color/design that utilizes the "valve-blue" that they are so commonly known for. Doing some kind of blue ombre could look really nice with those gray buttons and joysticks. I'm definitely tempted to buy this new OLED to upgrade my LCD...
I would love a blue steam deck color design if they made one. Happy with my OLED right now that I love the look of so I wouldn't need one but I would appreciate the look of it
@@lanzelet7386 nice! i put a purple aftermarket backplate on when i was upgrading to hall effect sticks. I keep telling myself if i ever break my screen or get dead pixels then ill do a front shell replacement too, but man does that seem like a bad time.
As a 30 y/o that works full time and is exhausted after a long day of work. Playing on my deck with steam deck just hits the spot. I bought it thinking I would occasionally use it. Now, it has legit become my primary gaming console. Thankful for valve for opening this avenue. Kinda sucks that they dont ship to Puerto Rico and had to get my brother to ship to me.
Congrats on 100K! That white Steam Deck look slick! Tempting me to upgrade my OG deck to OLED, but I think I'll hold out a little while longer for bigger updates.
I would love a two-tone translucent blue shell on the Deck, using the same color palette as Steam's Big Picture mode. The main shell would be the background blue shade. The buttons, analog sticks, touchpads, etc. would use the lighter shade displayed when you're selecting something.
The Steam Deck is actually the first all black console/handheld I've actually liked, as I would always buy a white system when offered over a black one. This one looks way cool, but by it being offered in only the top tier version, Valve made my choice for me, as I like my OLED screen without the anti-glare protection. And that white is bound to dis-color with time, so I'm happy sticking with my OLED with the D-Brand tear-down skin in place, it looks crazy cool that way. Glad to see Valve offer a different color though, as maybe the next model might get some theming like "Portal" or something.
I really hope we see a Steam Deck Mini with the same performance as the OLED sometime in the near future. I love my Steam Deck LED, but it’s still pretty bulky. Something smaller for long international travels would be awesome.
THIS! Commented the same on the Steam Deck Survey...I would gladly take a hit in battery and performance (although, more efficient tech could midigate this issue) My GF's Switch light is much nicer than I expected, even at home...
I never saw it in real life, is it actually metallic, or just plastic painted metallic? I feel like metallic painted plastic always looks extra cheap irl
Considering it is a limited run production and just an optional limited edition collectors piece, I think the price point is… okay. At least it kind of makes sense.
I think a white steam deck is a bad idea. you're telling me, a white handheld, something you're going to be holding constantly and out of all the colors available, the ones that easiest to soil? I'd pay extra for a black edition
Very good point, but I might add to that and say I wipe my steam deck down about once every two weeks and have consistently since I got my pre-order deck. I know not everyone is like that, but they'll have to be with a white console but I do doubt most will 😊
I have a white Logitech keyboard and wiping it with disinfection cloths once a month (which you should do with all keyboard honstely), it still looks new.
Shady Knight is one of my favorite games to come out this year, especially given the work to make the gyro experience as seemless as possible. I love it when devs do that, like I also saw that I Am Your Beast also has put a lot of effort into gyro by having matching default mouse and dots per 360 settings, and by adding full mixed input support.
Congrats on hitting 100k! I remember when this still was channel was still in its infancy and we were all longing for our SDs to arrive. Wave 1 still going strong! ❤
Shady Knight had an amazing demo and I would love to give it a run through. Also please Valve we need the atomic purple and other colors. Thanks for the content and congrats on 100K! keep up the great work.
Just found your channel, and I'm so stoked they are doing something new with the coloring. I wish they'd do more so we don't have to chance messing up the shell change ourselves. Great video man.
I'd love to see a Steam Deck LCD Limited Edition that would look like the Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition launch shell but in Sky blue (#1c96c5) instead of orange, I'm already half way done on the making of mine but others would surely love to get that without wasting the affort of modding their Deck to it.
I totally forgot my SD has an orange power button since I've had a case on it since day 1 lol! Funny how I just added Shady Knight to my wishlist today so that key would be pretty dope to win
Would love a 80s-00s Teenage Engineering retro style shell/skin for Steam Deck. Having a mechanical/audio gear feel would be amazing on a gaming handheld. I have Shady Knight on wishlist for years. The demo felt like Titanfall meets Dark Messiah
Would be nice to see a smaller "Steam Deck Lite" for smaller hands and younger users, such as a 720p screen, a less-powerful but more power-efficient chip, and smaller exterior frame (something closer to a Switch or Switch Lite), as this would also be a good place to start with more extravagant colors like when Nintendo introduced their funky Lite in salmon pink, yellow, teal, and indigo.
That Shady Knight game looks rather interesting. I would certainly be interested in a key, so here, have the engagement of a comment for the YT algorithm. I have not yet played a Flick Stick optimised game, but have played quite a bit of Vintage Story with Flick Stick on Deck. Also set up Better than Adventure in an attempt to play more on my own server, but that was unsuccessful so far. My Deck serves more as a Linux tablet for me when I do use it, though I tend to use my Desktop and Laptop more this past year. Still no regrets in buying an early LCD Deck, it's some of the best and most interesting hardware I have seen still.
I love how Valve is NOT COMMITED into releasing new hardware, and seeing editions like this put my mind at ease knowing that "ok they are working on cool editions instead of releasing an actual new steam deck every year". I don't want to see my device become obsolete every 2 years, I love my SD Oled and I like the feeling of having a steam deck without worry of maybe upgrading, maybe not
White is what I wanted all along. I wish I had the money to get one right now. Congrats on the success here on RUclips, I remember subbing when the deck was just in rumor phase, you blew up! Well deserved
I'm pretty sure the white color is a bad idea for a handheld as other already commented but if they had to make a new one I'd still say a panda / stormtrooper skin would be pretty dope
I have a dirty job so this one doesn't really have much appeal to me. However I am very happy for you because this is the best steam deck channel. Period. I already thought that before the name change 😊

Huzzah, 100k! You've earned all these subs of interests with hard work, man, well done! I'm glad that Valve is improving in a steady manner, not rushing to produce some half assed product, and keeping us in the dark to finally surprise us with goodies out of the blue. (white this time) I hope they could improve the deck's software experience even more with ad-hoc local multiplayer connection, like Easy Netplay on OnionOS. I think that would be awesome! Congrats again for the subs!
A pink version would be great. I would give it to my wife and when she gets tired of it one day it will have a place in my collection next to the best handheld of its time. Unfortunately there was only a PSP pink edition back then but I have learned to love it.
Just get a skin for her! It would be super cute and you wouldn’t have to pay extra for the color. You can also get cute covers for the joy cons and dpad
Speaking of a pink PSP, I had a lavender ones, changed the shell to transparent blue and it was a flex material for me. I was proud of it, worth the trouble.
Well we all know Valve is working on an new VR/AR(?) headset so I've been holding out on getting the meta quest 3s hoping for a sudden reveal by Valve! P.S. Would be cool to play Shady Knight if my comment wins!!
Been watching you since i first got my steam deck back in 2022. I appreciate you getting to the point and giving honest opinions on things and you give off a great friendly vibe. Congratz on there 100k subs!
A valve vr headset would be the only way I'd be able to free myself from the quest ecosystem. I hope so too, quest pcvr is a joke and competition is something vr REALLY needs
imo the only thing the steam deck is lacking in is resolution, it still kicks butt in all other aspects i really care about. Its the only thing they would have to improve to earn my money, everything else (wireless, standalone, better passthrough cameras, hand tracking, inside-out tracking, ect) is just cherries on top
We need this white model, I thought about it for a good 5 minutes before coming to the decision of it being a must have 😁 Congratulations on 100K again Rich! ❤🎉
It would be cool to have several color options available to choose from. Not just for the shell but also for the buttons, sticks and touch pads. So that you would have the option to configure it yourself when you buy one.
5:52 I remember commenting on your very few first video saying "steam deck is not just an ordinary handheld pc, it'll possibly open a new kind handheld port of pc games" now I'm happy that everything is trully came into that. steam deck verified games is continue to grow and soon game releases will have "steam deck" on it standing next to the big 3 consoles :D
i had wasted a month of waiting to purchase an oled deck, thinking that the anniversary would bring back the translucent model or give a holiday special. i gave in and got the basic black one, knowing that whatever the base model is i would be wanting to send it off to be replaced with an atomic purple shell and that a special wouldn’t be too drastic. sooo satisfied with it as is, and it’s been a great week setting up file sharing and apps on the desktop side of the deck. i’m happy for anyone who decides to get this white model after seeing all the hype for valves machine over the last couple years!
Hell yeah! Been following your channel since the early days of Steam Deck. Congrats on 100k! As for a colorway I’m looking forwards to, it’s gotta be atomic purple.
I didn't care for the white steam deck until you mentioned Dreamcast. That orange button color reminds me of the North American orange swirl on the disc door. Now you sold me on that.
Wait Shady Knight is out?? I remember finding out about it like a year ago, but apparently I never wishlisted it so I had no idea it was out! Anyway, happy to see it getting the attention it deserves!
I did a shell swap on my og steam deck and can confirm that it is no easy task. It took me 4 hours while taking extreme care, and I thought I even cracked the screen a few times. But I had fun doing it!
Awesome channel, well deserved, congratz on 100k. Every few weeks or so, I need to watch your content to catchup on Updates to our beloved steamdeck and the mobile PC development in general. Also, I love the bonus game footage of well ported games to Steamdeck near the end of your streams to inform me on which games I missed that I should potentially buy too!
Congrats on the 100k!! You truly deserves it! For a color theme I would say a Retroid like theme as the (16Bit US) I think would be dope! As performance I already find the SD Oled to be great it even helped me a bit as a mini pc to test stuffs out. I would love to try that game (and will try to get it on sale any how but let's try my luck) ^^ I'm currently trying to test a lot of game to test new game mechanics. In hope that when I get started building a game myself I'll have good ideas on game mechanics. But we will see in the future.
I honestly would love to see more colorways officially from Valve, specifically something as close to Jungle Green as they can get away with without being sued by Nintendo ;)
Man i wish i could get a deck. I wouls love if they could add simple colors. A Dark metallic red with some black buttons with white letters would go insanely hard. Simple yet beautiful.
Would be interesting to see what a dark metallic gray looking Steam Deck would look like, might give off a high-tech vibe that would complement the existing design.
I think a blue inspired color like the Steam Logo would be an classic color way especially for new model how clean it looks. Anyways , Rich congrats on 100K my friend. Glad to be here and can’t wait to see what more you can do !
I think the white version of Steam Deck is not practical for a device that we constantly hold in our hands, but I understand people who need this. Thanks for all the Valve news that I can keep up with through your channel! I appreciate it and look forward to more. You're doing a great job ❤
I am genuinely really excited to see the Deckard come to fruition. Valve's announcement of a standalone PCVR headset will almost certainly change the landscape for VR gaming!
Since Steam is still testing interest in alternate LE colorways, I think they should stick with either greyscale or very unsaturated colors. However, I think they should put bright, bold and very saturated colors for highlights on analog sticks and maybe the face buttons as well.
I would also love to see more color ways. I love my launch steam deck. But i would love an atomic purple for sure. But yes that white absolutely looks beautiful.
I am excited for the future upgrades to the current steam deck as an early adopter the changes in performance on the steam deck over the last couple years has been amazing it's almost like I got a completely different device from the original release in March.
Congrats on reaching 100k! You deserve it. For a Steam Deck color, I think an inverse of the black and orange OLED would be sick, imagine a matte orange deck with black buttons/ vents. I'd also love for a LED version with adjustable colors and radial lights around the joysticks or trackpads. For hardware, any way to attached an external GPU similar to the ROG Ally or more RAM would greatly expand the lifecycle of the SD.
I have an OG LCD Steam Deck and I am still very happy with it. I won't be upgrading my deck until a version 2 is released that is a generational jump in performance.
A big part of me would love to get this new color, but at the same time, my day 1 preorder LCD steam deck has been doing just fine. I also feel like I should hold off another year or two for the inevitable successor.
I love the atomic purple option for SteamDeck. Other variants of the atomic/transluscent style would be great. A glossy finish style would be cool too.
So grateful my family all pitched in and surprised me with a Steam Deck OLED last week. I am super happy they are coming out with new color options for new customers but for now I am satisfied with what I believe to be the greatest piece of technology I've added to my collection in a LONG time.
Congratulations on 100k, well deserved! I would like to see Valve make a new steam controller that's the deck minus its screen, plenty of renders floating around of how it could look but I think it would be a worthy successor to the original steam controller that was innovative but perhaps too ahead of its time lol.
personally, I really like the new color wave. If i still had my LCD model I would consider upgrading... But since I was lucky enough to get a limited edition OLED model I am perfectly content with the semi-transparent black shell. I'm hoping that the continued success of limited edition color waves means the "Steam Deck 2" will have several options on their initial launch. Or better yet, redesigning the deck to have easily swappable shells if you so choose.
Congratulations on the big milestone! I am going to update my LCD SD to the White OLED (if I hopefully get one). And I really can't wait to see what Valve has down the road for hardware. Either the new standalone VR headset or even the Steam Deck 2.

I didn't care for the white steam deck until you mentioned Dreamcast. That orange button color reminds me of the North American orange swirl on the disc door. Now you sold me on that.
Congratulations on 100k! You deserve it!
And thanks for bringing good continuous Steam Deck content.
Congrats on 100k! Thanks for all you do
Awesome channel, well deserved, congratz on 100k.
I’d love that Shady Knight key :)
I think Valve should make a 50/50 translucent orange/blue color way with Aperture branding for a Portal themed deck.
Man your video flow is smooth. Shady Knight looks amazing. Sadly i never heard of it before up until now. Thank you for widening my horizon! Greets
Damn! 100k
Congrats, i remember subscribing when the Steam deck came out.
I need a deep cheese yellow color for steamdeck. Love the focus on the channel, keep up the great work!
Great content rich! Congrats on the 100! New steam vr, new steam console, new steam deck or a minideck(gameboy?) all would be great!
I honestly would love to see more colorways officially from Valve, specifically something as close to Jungle Green as they can get away with without being sued by Nintendo ;)
Congrats with the 100k subs dude!
Congratulations on reaching 100k. 🎉
A transparent blue would be really good I think. Also shady knight sounds like a really good game.
I think a blue inspired color like the Steam Logo would be an classic color way especially for new model how clean it looks. Anyways , Rich congrats on 100K my friend. Glad to be here and can’t wait to see what more you can do !
Congrats on 100k subscribers! The amount of work you’ve put into deck news from day 1 is admirable, nice one 👌
I would love a Dark Blue transparent casing for steam deck, fitting the steam theme itself
I think the white version of Steam Deck is not practical for a device that we constantly hold in our hands, but I understand people who need this. Thanks for all the Valve news that I can keep up with through your channel! I appreciate it and look forward to more. You're doing a great job ❤
A Black Mesa themed Steam Deck would be awesome, subtle decals that make it look like it’s come straight from the research facility would be so cool.
I am genuinely really excited to see the Deckard come to fruition. Valve's announcement of a standalone PCVR headset will almost certainly change the landscape for VR gaming!
I’m in my exams for school right now and the thought of the steam deck coming to Australia is getting me through the pain
"[...]future (unannounced) hardware plans."
I'm placing my bets on the standalone Valve VR headset that was rumored for the longest lol
Congrats on the 100k!! I hope Valve makes a laptop or a wearable. They always crank things up and we cant help but wonder, cheers from Spain
I’d like to say the next hardware is a steam deck 2 or maybe steam vr glasses. Also that shady knight game looks sick
I think it's too soon for a steamdeck 2, but maybe something you could use with your steamdeck.
I got a refurbished LED SteamDeck and it works great. I'm not upgrading till SteamDeck II.
As long as it is HEV suit orange - I'm in.
@ Itd tie in so well with half-life and portal
I think the next colour should be a purple > magenta gradient, i think thats an underrated aesthetic for consoles.
Looks sooo much better in white. Hopefully the deck 2 and all future handhelds come out with a stock white version out the gate
A dark red would be a great colour and cheers for all the great work and info you've been throwing up here, very much appreciated 🙂👍
A transparent purple or teal colorway would look so clean!
I would love to see a clear transparent shell that’s more transparent than the current LE one.
Congratulations on the big milestone! I am going to update my LCD SD to the White OLED (if I hopefully get one). And I really can't wait to see what Valve has down the road for hardware. Either the new standalone VR headset or even the Steam Deck 2.
Man I was just thinking about Duel Masters last week. Love this video and the timing it popped up in my recommended
