You're right about adapting and be prepared to make custom parts if possible to save downtime/cost. cost can blow out I just finished my WRX gc8, gave it a new engine, clutch/flywheel
really cool that i just happened to stumble on this video! been working on my gc8 project for about 2 years now. i went from knowing nothing about cars to knowing a bit more! the things you learn along the way though make up for all the inconveniences!
Thanks for sharing your lessons learned. It's important to monitor as objective as you can the work that was done to the car. Good luck on your on-going journey! 🙂👍
@ Iv spoke to a couple of EV conversion firms in the uk and they had not seen or heard it done either but there interest was positive. At this point I’m at talks with motor/ battery suppliers and 3D scanning company. 👍
Your Dad didn’t get a chance to answer the question you asked him regarding where he was born…but as a fellow South African, tell him I say howzit 😀 I guess that’s where he is from from the sound of his accent?? Great channel by the way. I have recently bought a “barn find” 1998 WRX STI Type R that was standing and neglected for 15 or so years, so have been watching your channel for inspiration.
The first one is definitely the twin plate clutch. For street use it’s a nightmare. The second was the rear StopTech BBK that I can no longer use since I did an STI conversion. Third are the catch cans venting to atmosphere. They will need recirculating. I’m sure if I think a little harder I could find a few more.
Good on ya mate, CONGRATS! Looks awesome! Hands down the best shape subie ever made.... I hope you still have it? ALSO: 4 door over 2 doors any day... They look the perfect length, width and just bad ass like a small Pit Bull... The coupe is heavily overrated and im gonna say it, UGLY.... Like a Sausage Dog..
Having tinkered with Subies for 30 years, I could not agree more with your lessons learned. Very accurate! Best of luck moving forward!
Thank you very much! ❤️🙏🏼

Bro I love the tips, I've built 4 projects myself and all you said is true and accurate.
Thanks man!
4 projects!! Sounds painful 😅

So they did 🤣🤣🤣
cool build thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊
Just subbed. About to restore a P1 and potentially go EV. As you said timescale will have to be something for others to worry about.

You want to convert a P1 to an EV? 😱
@ if your in doubt of the potential you only have to look at the hoonigan teams Audi.

I don’t doubt the potential at all. I’m just surprised as it is a combination I’ve never heard of before!

That sounds well planned! I would love to see the final result!

You have a very sharp ear! He grew up in South Africa.
What a find! Lucky you!! Type R is the best one to find 😍😍😍
What parts did you get that you wouldn't recommend or wouldn't get again?

I told you, but you didn’t listen 😂
