- Here it is! The birth story of our first son, River. There's so much to this story, from the beauty of creating life, to the unimaginable pain of pushing a child out of your hoo-ha! Jonny and I get into the Serious and the Funny of the whole delivering a baby experience.

When I had my third child, the nurse was yelling at me because the baby monitor kept falling off. I could not lay still to be convenient for the nurse, so she told my husband, not me, that he had to sign a release.
Then I told her I was in transition, 3rd birth, I knew.
She refused to call the doctor, so I stood up, my water broke, and my daughter crowned.
The nurse screamed, “You can’t have this baby yet! We’re not READY for you!” (Even though I’d been telling her for ten minutes that I was ready to deliver.)
She pushed me onto a gurney, and started running me to the delivery room. The nurse was yelling at me to scream so I wouldn’t push. Since the baby had crowned I had torn, badly, and blood was squirting out with each of my heartbeats.
My husband made me laugh uproariously when he told me that the hospital had the big group of pregnant women touring the Labor and Delivery ward. He said the look of horror on their faces as they saw me being pushed, naked and screaming with blood everywhere, legs in the air down the hall, almost made him stop wanting to punch out the nurse.
I still laugh when I think of it. Sorry to be so graphic, but you asked for crazy birth stories.
Even crazier, that same daughter’s first delivery almost mirrored her birth story. Luckily, we found out later that her nurse was let go, because she refused to call the doctor when she was ready to deliver.
Some of these hospital staffs are utterly incapable of doing the job. My first experience with labor was awful in Florida where all the staff are midwifed who prob get their degree in the Caribbean.

Jonny putting 3-4 hours of efforts just to get everything right, makes me feel emotional.. please understand this thing guys that, we love u guys anyways , irrespective of how the recording place is set up,irrespective of camera lightings etc

I loved this! Your connection to each other is beautiful. No, women aren’t automatically having our identities subsumed by the father/husband because we have our names. No disrespect to women who choose that. Love the idea of next kid having your last name. You created that life, put your name on it, it fits.

Had my first born also a boy on January 20th 1989... went in on a Monday had him on Friday. Couldn't imagine being in labor any longer then 4 days
I'm so glad you have a beautiful baby...this is bringing back memories of having my son...extremely difficult and long labor and then I broke down and got the epidural. I was really noisy and my mamma was there the whole time for me. So much congratulations on becoming parents! Can't wait to hear all the stories!
I thought I was hot shit with my first baby...easy induction, nice epidural, then pushed 3 times and she was out. Then my 2nd baby...he was a beast (over 12 lbs), sunny side up, both shoulders at once (almost dislocated his shoulder) and the cord around his neck...it was down to a minute before the doctor was taking me into an emergency c section. I somehow pushed him out and avoided that but girl yes.... that birth trauma is real! Whew! The head is wild when they have been stuck in the canal for a while! Haha! You did great!!! Congratulations to you both!!

Would love to hear more about your doula. My mother is a doula and I always told myself I’d want her to help me. But I do know that doulas can be hit or miss for a lot of people.

In the hospital, the baby has to go by whatever the mother’s last name is so that your hospital bracelets and everything match up. That makes it easier for them to confirm that you have the correct baby at all times. Also, apparently the size of mom and dad at birth doesn’t have anything to do with how big the baby will be at birth (according to my doctors). My partner and I were both huge babies, but our son was a little peanut.
See nobody has ever told me-my two sons were so big (9 and 10.5lbs!) and my husband and I are small people! I’m 5’4 130lbs and hubs is 5’8” BUT we were both 9lb babies so figured it’s just bc we were big babies lol 😅 🤷♀️ it’s a mystery I guess ha ha

I had an epidural and for my 4th I requested to be sitting up in an incline so I could have some gravity helping me. It was very helpful!
I am an Aquarius 🙌🏼 born Feb 1! Iove that you meditated and he told you his bday, thats so amazing. I have 3 kids and all of their births were so different. One was heavenly and perfect and amazing. And 2 of them full of lots of trauma 😅 so you are not alone. Sending love 💗

My older brother's name is Tim, mine is Tammy. I am called Tim, frequently. And my brother is called Tammy a fair amount. BUT.... when i had my daughter Ava, she seems to call Ava, Tammy and Tammy, Ava. It's a mess!!!! Lol
I wasn't induced with my third. I had 2 contractions 10 minutes apart, 2 contractions 8 minutes apart, 2 contractions 5 minutes apart. The rest were 3 minutes apart. Lots of painful back labor as well. Unfortunately, labor slowed down after my epidural. All that to say, natural labor looks a lot of different ways, so don't feel like you potentially missed out. I also planned to go without the epidural and ended up getting it as soon as I could. Lol ❤

You know the more stories I hear of vaginal births the more I think that I actually had the better outcome with my c-section LOL
My doctor scared me into getting induced also, but they didn't give me any options, only pitocin, and it. was. awful! 10/10 would NOT recommend, ugh! I also ended up getting an epidural and was freaked that I couldn't feel my legs, they were numb for so long after I gave birth that I thought it might be permanent and I was terrified; soooo much birth trauma. If I ever have another child I'd opt for a water birth at home. Love an Aquarius! I'm Virgo rising and a 6/2 Projector in human design which equates to being great at noticing small details that others might miss and being really tuned into other people's emotional states and knowing what they are feeling even if they themselves don't know how they are feeling, lol. Congrats on baby River, he is absolutely beautiful!
I highly recommend home birth. The stress the hospital instills on our body makes labor last longer and forces interventions. That's what happened with my first so we decided to have our second as a "wild birth" as we call it. Traditionally called free birth. We educated ourselves on how to handle almost everything that could happen plus tinctures and herbal medicine that would help if anything were to be needed. The percentage of people who actually need interventions is low when people trust they're body and actively listen to her needs.
What do cats do when they're in labor they find a safe calm space and do it alone.
We can do it too. I'm so sorry you had that experience but you're here with a magical baby and you can turn those wounds into knowledge for next time.
I'm 8 days postpartum and active birth took a total of 2-3 hours with pushing being 2 minutes. I 100% know it was because my body was in a safe space with my supportive husband. Oh and the warm water, squatting/kneeling and the fabric hanging from the ceiling for me to bare down on definitely helped. *cough* more than my husbands sad hip squeezes that were more butt squeezes then hip. lol
couldn't recommend it enough. We need to give women their power back and this is one of the most important ways!

If the 27 second birth wasn’t mine then I think I need to be getting in touch with someone. Cuz little man just flew out of me. 🤨 like so fast that the doc wasn’t even in the room and the nurse was yelling at me to quit pushing. And I was like “I’m not” 🤷🏼♀️ Then doc came in and caught him. And that was it. 😅

My fiance and I have been engaged 9 years and together 10 years.. we have 2 kids. We want to get married on our anniversary, but the last 4 years it was covid, the day was on a weekend, or we were just busy. We'll eventually get married.

My son was born on January 26th!😡 In all seriousness, birth is awful no matter how it's done. Women are the stronger sex, no doubt about it. Congratulations on baby River. Parenthood is an adventure!

Slight correction on the 10cm cervix thing. I just learned a horrible fact that indeed the cervix can go beyond 10cm, 10 is just the standard. A labor/delivery doctor recently did a video about this. Babies with smaller heads can come out with the cervix less than 10 and babies with bigger heads (like my baby) need it to be bigger. I did the math and it turns out my cervix would have had to be a little over 11cm for his 95% head to come out 🥲
