- Hair porosity is basically just a fancy way of saying how well your hair holds moisture and how close together your hair cuticles are packed, but knowing how to work with it can make the difference between frizzy, dull hair and shampoo commercial-worthy locks. Some people are naturally more prone to certain porosity types, but a well informed hair care routine can transform even the most damaged head of hair. #haircareroutine #beautyhacks #fyi #healthyhair
Actually if it is sinks all the way down it just means it's high porosity. Has nothing to do with health
what happens if it doesn't sink at first, but rather 1 minute later?
I'm confused man mine stats on top(the one with only after shampoo) but then i put another one that's after conditioner when i put it in the bottom it stays there like it does come a little but towards the middle. Now what is mine priosity. (I took a steal glass witg normal water, might be a little hot due to the weather)
Take a normal hair strand, shampoo or conditioner will saturate it@7starofmylife440
Your porosity has nothing to do with hair health lmao
Someone smart
Obviously. But it can help to choose products that suit ur hair type.
@@satanus-009but the video said it test how healthy your hair is sooo…
dumbasss gurl, its important to know your hair porosity so you can care accordingly like choosing oils and shampoo etc
Says the one with damaged hair look how thin yours looks in your profile pic
Porosity has absolutely NOTHING to do with hait health.
😭 hair porosity has nothing to do with hair health, it just helps you find your hair type and products to use for it
It can have something to do with hair health because dry bleached hair often has a high porosity so fixing that can make your hair healthier.
But some people have it naturally so obviously it’s genetic and not unhealthy. Theres nuance to this so take it based on your own hair journey.
HOW MY HAIR IS SO UNHEALTHY IN MY OPINION BUT ITS FLOATING🎉
SAME ❤❤❤😭
Hyunberry❤
Well my hair strand floated for a few secs then sunk slowly but the tips of the strands floated 😂
same idk why
Yall got medium porosity hair I think
@@KnightDog145thanks
People clearly have no idea what this all means lol. You want to have low porosity hair, that means healthy. High porosity means damaged, the cuticles easily open up due to months or years of neglect. Our cuticles should be tightly shut, as low porosity does to protect it from any dirt or damage.
I've been trying to do this but everytime My hair is floating I just searched on RUclips to see if anyone get their hair sink to the bottom ,I thought its floating because of the water surface tension so I soak little bit then it went to the bottom so I don't understand how to do this please explain
I can’t even see my hair strand when it’s in water…😭 (I have blonde hair)
then u might have thin hair
@@akishiro1Well thats not the case for me cause i have thick blonde hair
@@RanDOm_foReVer2014 if u ofc put one blonde hair stran in water u wont ofc see it how u even wanna see one stran blonde hair in water 💀
@@akishiro1 idk it would be HARD! to see

I put a clean strand of my tape in extension (processed and bleached blonde) and then I put a clean strand of my virgin brown hair that has also never been touched by any heat tools. They both sunk to the bottom. I highly doubt my virgin hair strand is the same health level as my tape in hair strand that has been high processed
Half hair sinking and half hair floating 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Same
shine a flashlight
Same, what does that mean
Medium Porosity
Does this method actually work?
I mean can hair break the surface tension of the water just like that?
Was thinking exactly same

It doesn't work. Porosity is actually measured in grades 1 to 5 with very clear signs for each. Manes by Mell has a nice video explaining them for beginners
this test isn't accurate. my hair stays above the water, but if i push my hair into the water, it will stay down. so...what?
True, actually when we e placing the hair above water , There is water tension that it needs to break and if we dont push it into the water it will just sit there.. bu t if I push mine, Then it immediately goes down. Idk
same problem .. i need answer
I have read a study that while doing this test u should never disturb the hair just put it on the surface. If it's high porosity it will break surface tension of water
@@Sarah17889_kindly share your source.
Well it said drop so i dropped it
It did float😊
Every hair will float on the top trust me, it's because of surface tension. And every hair will go down if you dip it because gravity
I’m guessing there’s no way to change the porosity right ? I’m sorry this is a dumb question
Can someone help me.Why is this test not working on my hair? My hair gets wet easily, becomes very frizzy and brittle in humidity, breaks, falls and does not dry quickly. So I thought I have High porosity hair. But when I washed my hair and dried it, I did this test and my hair kept floating on water...now I'm so confused.
"this is what you want" THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT BABY THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT, UH-AH, UH-UH-AH-
I have low porosity ❤
Without breaking the surface area?
I did after using conditioner and they are low porosity
Same. Mine are low porosity too but when I push it in it sinks
@Sarah17889_ that's what I did too so now I'm just confused.
@@stingraykitten1796 I have read a study that you should not disturb the water tension just put it on the surface.
My hair ws not sinking but under the water but floating under😅😅😅what is my hair mean??
if your hair floats it's can also be water tension
Mine legit is different. I tested different strands and they all did different things.
Samee
I have medium porosity💖
The top of my hair stayed at the top and the bottom of my hair sank the second it got in the water😭
My hair dont sink they just keep floating. But they are rough dry frizzy. And when i let em airdry it takes time but when they dry. Its very hard to move them.they r tangled stuck cant even brush. In past ive been using hair dryer for around 5 years. And curl pattern is around 2c. Men. Help me
I thought it said you can taste how healthy your hair is
Can you do this test after shampoo and conditioner using on hair like freshly washed nd conditioned hair
Yes
I have low porosity but still get frizzy hair. I don't get it
Well my hair just remained on top 😵💫

Maybe medium
I have medium porosity lol
Hair porosity is most often genetic girl what r u yapping abt 😂😂😂
Some of my hair was floating and some of my hair was in middle . So what is my hair porosity? Can anyone tell me please ?
I'm imagining three options:
1. Your hair is low porosity and while putting strands into water you accidentally put pressure on them, forcing some of the strands used water while the rest naturally floated.
2. Your porosity differs. The roots are most likely a little lower porosity than ends so parts of the hair float while other don't. In this situation you could cut one hair strands on the very root of your hair. The cut a small piece each from both sides of that hair strand. The piece cut from the roots side should float while the piece from the ends side should float in the middle/ sink. In that case your hair is naturally low porosity but due to heat/uv rays damage has much higher porosity further from the roots.
3. You have remnants of products on your hair or a calcified film on your hair left by hard water. It happens that water with high amount of microelements in it can leave a layer of said elements on hair messing up with porosity test. Before testing the porosity you should wash your hair in *clarifying* shampoo. Don't put any conditioner nor any other kind of cosmetic. Just this once wash the whole length of the hair with shampoo foam, not just roots like normally should. If you have trouble with forcing your shampoo to create foam, you 100% have hard water.
You may also be dealing with multiple of those options at the same. You need to test it more to assess the porosity.
it floated and then it slowly sunk to the middle and stopped-
When I drop it from air,it floats for a long time until I press the hair down into the water,it then sinks.
What type of hair porosity do I have??
this is the same for me and I can never figure out what porosity I have
Guys one strand sunk all the way tje other one stayed right in top wtf
INCORRECT
It always floats 😑
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my hair it's in all the porosity lol
This is wrong information and needs to be flagged as such thanks for the ones giving out the correct reason to test porosity smh in the curly head community your telling g certain people they have “good hair” or “bad hair” with this logic
Bruh i tested this and some of my hair was in the surface and some hair was in the middle and the rest were on bottom. Well ig my hair is mixed😭
This has absolutely nothing to do with hair health but okay
Is this true
