If White’s was able to make the Drifter 1 and 2 as a mainstay, I bet it would be worth it for them. They are a totally unique design that is super appealing to a wide range of people. As someone who missed out on the first two Drifters, I would absolutely pick up a pair of each. Just got my 3.0s today and they exceed expectations in every way.
I am blown away with the way you laced the speedhooks at 1:20! I never thought of tying the long laces first, it keeps the ends from whipping around! I know the one handed-two lace technique, but that hack impressed me. May seem trivial but....
You can get good enough to do the 2 hook method with a pair of tied laces! It's not too hard honestly, the top eyelets can be a little hard if you like your boots real tight
I purchased mine the moment they were available. Barely got them today. Apparently my purchase had fallen through the cracks and they forgot to ship them out until last week. Happy to at least have gotten them though, and I’m happy with the quality
Mine just shipped out! Will be getting them Monday. Definitely doing an unboxing, and review video! I'm so FREAKING EXCITED! EDIT: A BELT IN BLOOD CORE WOULD BE THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER! I'D BUY 50 SO I COULD LIVE IN THE BELTS! XD
Funny that you said the leather is like wood. Everyone who doesn’t know leather feels the veg tan on my boots and they always ask why they used wood. It is tanned in the bark of wood. And a plane made out of leather: planes used to be made out of 4 things-balsa, parchment, steel and leather. Leather was used for all kinds of things like pipe fittings, gaskets, seals, interior stuff, even stretched along the outside.
About your convo at the end, I ordered a pair of Farmer/Rancher's this last spring because I was so jealous of the Drifter 1's. I wish Whites had the Drifters full time. I would have ordered those instead of the classic Farmer/Rancher. Though they are almost the same.
Man.. I couldn’t swing the Drifter 3s, BUT I bought blood core kilties to go with my black Whites Cruisers, so at least I can kinda look like I have the drifters 😂. Great work Weston!
I want everything in blood core! I need the SBB wallet, travel wallet, and a belt in this! AND I want some cowboy boots in this! I don’t have a pair of Chisos or JKs, so it’d be cool to check out. But I do want a more of a wide snip toe, not so much a wide square toe.
I'm still waiting for mine. I ordered immediately when I got the email. If I was one of the first 500 it should be my first pair of PNW ( i ordered some jk blackout bison forefront, but they got delayed to December 28th). I think a blue blood version would look great!
I like to toss in alpaca insoles. They also sort of mold into the shape of your foot. Sort of like an insulated boot breaker but also when coupled with wool socks your boots will never smell.
Waited 2 weeks for my work to deposit my check by the time it went through I got error 404 as I put my card info in, really hope this collab is done again, at least in a small quantity, or some leather is left over for another drop, so I can buy a pair!
I like the idea of a contrasting color core, but I’m just not into the look of black boots in general. Black boots give a look more gravity when you pair it with your pants. But I don’t like that look, brown and tan shoes tend to give a lighter on the feet look due to the color. And I think it’s a subconscious thing that if my eyes are telling me I’m lighter on the feet, I instantly feel more lighter on my feet in comparison to black boots where they can even be lighter boots by weight it still makes my eyes feel like they are weighing me down if that makes sense?
Blood core Jacket Also nicks has a cobalt color boot (dark blue). I would love to see a vintage hot rod inspired boot with a white core and a dark deep blue to patina. Another kind of boot I would like to see is a metal rust look (copper rust look)
Day 2 of asking to see yall do the new red wing beckman, they fix a lot of the iron ranger and blacksmith short comings it would be great to see it review and cut apart
If it's your EDC pistol, kydex tends to be better than leather because it won't stretch over time and potentially expose your trigger guard. Although hybrid designs do exist that offer the advantages of both materials.
Question Rose Anvil: How harmful are the tanning compounds like Chromium etc for the human body? Do fresh boots hurt our bodies by absorption thru our feet when we sweat and the leather outgassing VOC's and heavy metals? Thanks, curious to know. Why I ask is because some of the local tannery's that were on the waterways of Michigan despoiled the lakes rivers and streams to the point of becoming EPA cleanup sites and their chemicals ending up in our drinking water supply. Just something on my mind because I have a new pair of Thorogoods to wear in that I purchased last night and they smell up my house with chemical leather smell. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Aloha from Michigan
Chromium salts are _seriously_ not good for you if ingested, but the vast majority of the tanning salts are washed out of the leather in the rinsing steps. The resultant chemical waste water is certainly not something you'd want entering a waterway, but most of the volatiles you'd be smelling in a finished leather product would be from the dyes and the conditioners rather than from the tanning compounds. Vegetable tanned leathers are made with naturally derived tanning compounds that are less toxic than chromium salts.
That's so funny you're talking about insoles I'm a part of a couple Pacific Northwest Facebook groups and then these old ass men are so fired up about me posting pictures and talking about insoles and boot breakers. (You just need to buy boots that fit!!) (a leather insole is the only way to go always You need to be a man and just breaks them in ....)not understanding that people have different feet and different needs
I mean the super thick insoles on logger styles boots will form to your foot. Just wear thicker socks when you’re breaking them in. That’s effectively the same thing as using a thin insole. I don’t exactly see the point of the boot breaker, but never used them. Did try the Spenco insole my first pair of JKs shipped with, but made no difference to me so took them out.
Ok but you really should listen to them. You are defeating the purpose of buying boots with leather insoles. You really don't need them, just wear them. Your feet don't have "different needs" (you work in HR or something?), you are just scared of discomfort. If you have a real issue, a 2mm foam insole isn't doing anything for you.
I think it's hard to understand how thin the boot breakers are unless you see them in person. Their thinness doesn't interfere with the strong support a PNW boot provides, and also doesn't prevent the insole molding to your foot. It's just like someone suggesting you wear thicker socks when first breaking in a boot, except the boot breakers are specialized for their purpose.
@@calebjackson2631 If you don't care about what other people are doing, you're probably not active on PNW boot forums and asking old career timbermen their opinions on hard wearing work boots that you probably just bought for style reasons.
He's hung out with Gareth too long, can't go back to narrow boots *it's so funny to see him love the kershaw version of the Microtech, that's kinda their whole shtick is they make affordable "tributes" to popular expensive knives
I've heard him claim to be a leatherworker and a hobby woodworker, but never a cobbler. On the Builds channel, it seems like it's one of his employees doing the cobbling.
Cool. That height really shows commitment. One other question: I am seeing more and more publicity for ‘House Brandle’ (a Nicks brand for their white collar customers). Looks really good but it is also quite expensive. Does anyone own a pair? Is it all marketing and little substance? Would also love to hear Weston’s idea or perhaps even experience. 🙏🤘 - Edit - Just realized that Weston did try a size mock-up for the 1925 last about a year ago. Not sure if that led to him ever getting a pair of Brandle dress boots.
Is the nicks heritage line not “white collar” enough? I’m a machinist and wear JK superdutys for work, but my non-working, “going out” boots are a pair of 6” nicks heritage moc toes in brown cxl, and they feel waaay to dressy for my tastes, but I’m sure as they’re broken in they’ll look a little more casual.
@@BryceKimball7.3 Yes, I totally agree, very pricey. More so if you would consider choosing Shell Cordovan, which adds $800! Makes me all the more curious how these would stack up against even the most fancy pair of Viberg’s.
These are beautiful. I want a pair so bad, but the 10" boot doesn't work with fat calves. I would totally get a belt in this leather. Any chances or doing any of the differnt blood line leathers in an 8" or 6" boot?
No roll quarters here, just is in the wrong place and the giant heel stack adds shock and no real room for insert when mine already fit tight [as advised or not advertised or something?] Maybe my most expensy boots, but so far neigh my fave.

They recommend down one full size and up one width
