  • A review of this discontinued piece of gear. Forgot to say you can adjust the vibrato speed, but you know that, right? Also, I'm not addressing the issue of how Fender always calls their tremolo vibrato and vice versa...
I'm playing a Gretsch G5129 and a Vox MV50 AC. The opening jam is a song I wrote this week, there's an alternate take here in my "original songs" playlist. Seriously, check my "one minute songs", if there's a demand for a backing track of any of them I'll try to do it.

Thanks for the review. FYI - When you mentioned the tremelo (incorrectly labeled vibrato) was 'hard' sounding you may not have known the speed can be adjusted by holding down the pedal switch for 2 sec. Then the red led starts flashing the modulation speed and you can now tap the speed on the pedal. So hopefully less hard sounding for you.

This by far is the best and most honest review I've seen of the pedal. It's not magic but at the right price is a nice addition. Thanks for sharing.

Im glad that you did I came across this series of pedals searching for 'that reverb' to add to my pedal board, specifically for surf-esque.

Sooooo glad I found your Vid, I just picked up a used one to complete my Boss (Amp in a Box) series - and noticed the “Quirky” / honk (at times) Verb just like you have when the gain is down - like right at 4:05 - 4:06 👍🏼

Yes! It does some weird stuff sometimes… some people say it’s supposed to sound like the anomalies you get with a real spring reverb tank, but I have an amp with built-in spring reverb, and I have played with actual Fender Deluxes on occasion… and they don’t sound like that! Anyway, thanks for watching. I’m glad it was helpful.

The best review of the FDR-1. I'm looking for mainly the reverb and the tremolo. Would you recommend it over the Fender Tre-Verb pedal, which btw is an extra $100? Also, does the reverb have the drip effect?

Thanks for the review. Excellent observations on the tone and controls. It would be great if you could also share sound clips of going directly into an audio interface.
In my opinion a pedal marketed as a Fender endorsed emulation of a classic Fender anp, that actually doesn't sound like the amp it is supposed to emulate, is a bit misleading.

Thanks for watching! It wouldn’t sound good directly into an audio interface because it doesn’t have a cabinet simulator, but it could work with an IR loader.
