Imagine going on a P29 to P7 incredible recovery drive and not getting a single point for it, back when only the top 6 got points in a 30-car grid...
Some drivers could have been much more fondly remembered - Badoer would have scored 26pts nowadays with backmarkers, while Albon would have 0pts in 2023 with the old points system
Crazy how most facts about newer drivers are memes and older drivers are just 'yeah, he died in a car crash'
Or how some born in 1935 are seemingly still alive today
@@PuncakeLena
That’s only 89 years. Why does that surprise you?
@@SirSneakerPimp Idk seems like a very long time ago. My brain cannot comprehend people that have consciously lived through WWII as still being alive in the 2020s
"Something something gap, something something racing driver."
One of my absolute favorite quotes from one of my favorite racing drivers in the world.
Your videos are like the most unnecesary and interesting thing ever, at the same time😂
The best thing about these lists is that you’ll see all the drivers who either made a real impact in Motorsports (I.E Chapman, Ecclestone and Ken Miles) or drivers who were simply a footnote in F1 history, because let’s be real, everyone remembers legendary driver Ernie de Vos.
870 x 3 minutes editing per driver = 2610 minutes (43.5 hours). 😆
Subtle flex at 57:00
Right, I'll see yall in 3 years when i finish this video.
33:55 the 🐐
game recognizes game💯
43:35 a subtile jab at Leclerc
Louis Chiron is also the only Monégasque driver to take the podium in a world championship Monaco GP (he won in 1931, but managed to come 3rd in 1950). Charles Leclerc’s best finish there is 4th in 2022. I’m sure someday this will come to an end, surely he can’t be that cursed right?
35:54 "Mick Schumacher, nephew of Ralf Schumacher"
Ah yes, that guy.
You can tell why the greatest drivers are considered that way by their average point scores.
Button had a surprisingly low average point score for a WDC, I noticed most other champions in the higher places had at least above 8, but average point score doesn't tell the whole story as Button had seasons in the midfield abyss at BAR etc. Still though, makes the achievements of the likes of Hamilton, Verstappen, Prost, Senna, Schumi, Alonso and Vettel even more incredible!
Team LH: thats what im talking about! Thats why hes MVP! Thats why hes the GOAT- THE GOOOOOATT!
The worst car he had is the 2013 mercedes, that alone is telling a lot about how he managed to have the 5000+ points. Also Button was on his level with Rosberg was close to him. Watch back F1 from 2009-2012 that is when Hamilton had interesting seasons outside of 2007/8 and 2014 and 2016 and 2021. Out of this 5 competitive seasons he lost 3. Hamilton is not a biger talent than Button but had much more outside help from Mclaren and Mercedes. Look at Schumacher in 2005 Imola, that is how the GOAT drives, giving 2 secs on the grid lap by lap in a 4th best car on the grid. I know that Schumacher was not a kind and a nice driver but still on raw pace prime Hamilton does not come close to Schumacher, btw neither to Verstappen, Hamilton is top 5 but not the goat. He had the most dominant f1 cars ever, even in 2007 he was sitting in a rocketship, and do not start talking about the Mercedes from 2014, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21. He had a good season in 2008, but in 2008 Raikonan been betrayed by the Ferrari team and he stopped delivering results, that led to Massa vs Hamilton title fight btw.
@@matevalkocz41802009 McLaren was shit last years Mercedes and this years Mercedes were also worse than 2013 you don’t know what you’re talking about
Thank you for your amazing work, Sir.
Small correction for Paul Russo (#256). It shows that he won Indy 500 in 1957. He never won, he was 4th that year (his best ever finish). Sam Hanks won that year. I guess I played too many quizzes about F1 so it jumped out lol. Great vid as always
Also the same with Louis Chiron. He didn't win at Monaco, he was on a podium
@@vladvaler5160 no he did win the 1931 Monaco race. It wasn't a formula 1 event though (becuz there were no f1 duh). Maybe you thought it as he won when he raced in f1?
@@gametime4607 ye, that's fair. I only considered F1 timeline
I always love these long videos very well done always
Tiff Needle may be the only F1 driver to have driven a Yugo Sana
24:13 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Edit: also 50:09, 54:19, 56:59
And I see you're getting increasingly sarcastic towards the end.
Oscar Alfredo Gálvez at 35:19 looks like Daniel Ricciardo’s long lost grandfather
Thanks for that video
Fun thing to note, Aguri Suzuki would also have Yuji Ide race for team ARTA in 1998, 2007, and 2010.
And even more notable, he ran the 2000 JGTC season with the Drift King himself, Keiichi Tsuchiya.
Woooow, another one? So cool, lovely! ❤
¿Mick, nephew of Ralph Schumacher?
@1:02:22 bloody knew it
Excellent video with great comments and annotations. I had to laugh when you used "Nephew of Ralf Schumacher" for Mick. But you dropped an opportunity to use "uncle of Mick Schumacher" when we got to Ralf.
Boy was there some shocks in there. I wish i had a pen and paper to of written them down.
The big one was with Max in just the last 3 years he's scored enough points to finish in 19th overall.
Seeing Damon ahead of his dad by 2 spot's but it proves the longer you go the further you go. Not mentioning the drivers with no titles in the top 20 it was just crazy.
All we need now is a reaction video for this that takes about 5 hours 😂😂😂
Great and fascinating video whats next who has the highest average finish?. Cant wait for the next one. Thank you for you hard work this definitely was a labour of love.
Max is instantly ahead of raikkonen next year
That Max Verstappen stat is ridiculous
Peter what’s the music used joint 645th section? It’s lovely and l way to download it

Massa points average:
6.31
Button points average:
6.03
Massa deserved that 2008 title so much 😥
He lost it for himself in the first two races go watch peters video where he looks at F1 seasons that were run in reverse and you’ll see just how much he bottled it in the first two races (last 2 in that video)
@@josiahboatengmyrie Yep, many things happened at that season, but we can't deny that Renault 's crash gate scheme at singapore GP had a spotlight on that. In my opinon he was harmed by FIA that pretended blindness to that at 2008. But right now, after all that time, is very difficult to revert all that shit on court, since would also be unfair with Lewis, that didn't had anything to do with that. So bad... I only hope he achieve what he want on his judicial process, to be atleast recognized as champion alongside Lewis would be satisfying.
This might be a longer video
Please reply when the top 20 starts

Love the flag practice hahaha! Took me a while to figure out “Spain under Franco”. Also…Timo “Is That” Glock 🤣 the man will never live that down will he?
Would be great if next vid you rank them by avg points 👌👌👌
24:14 lol
54:33 Where did you learn that bit of information Peter?
As a kid Alain Prost "le professeur" was my favorite. To later ( Prost still being one of the greats) clicked with Niki Lauda.
As a Dutchman of course I cheer for Max. Keep pushing!
7:11 Rio
If this were to be updated, which is should be yearly......It should include years they drove.....teams they drove for.....highest finish....I would watch this 100 times if it had more info.
The contrast between drivers that are in their 90s now on this list and those killed in an accident and thus gone far too soon in that same era is insane
I love how Mick's fact is "nephew of Ralf Schumacher"
I didn't know Scheckter is Jewish
Oh damn Perez that's not a record you wanna hold
Mick Schumacher - Nephew of Ralf? Why not, Son of Michael?
Interesting but I have two questions. How would they rank using an earlier points system and how about ranking them in percentage. In other words how many points per starts. 🤔
Why do I feel like I’ve seen this video before
I would have liked to see the years they competed in, its more useful than the date of birth, in my opinion
22:25
Wait, as in "ensured McLaren didn't have a 100% win record" or "ensured McLaren had a 0% win record"?
As in "ensured McLaren didn't have a 100% win record". They won every race but one.
You should have put as the fact for Montagney that he got banned from racing after he was found to be high on Cocaine during his second Formula E race
This doesn't normalize things for the number of GPs in a season, so it will still be skewed towards modern drivers who will have far more starts in a season. It would be better to rank by Points Average per Start.
Even if you do that, you can't really compare those drivers only based on those results. For example, there is no universe where Bottas is 11th driver of all time, being 8 years with the best car and best strategy helps a lot.
I have this on a spreadsheet! When I get round to creating my YT channel and gaining some charisma, I will post it ha
Even then, that wouldn't account for the massively increased reliability of the modern era
@@PEPSIMaxMusic Agreed, it wouldn't. I doubt you could create a perfect system. However, since the creator already has the Points Average per Start in a spreadsheet, it's really simple to create a new ranking, though I'm not sure about the extra effort for the video editing. That would give viewers two different perspectives and they can make their own choice.
Still, it wouldn't be perfect, as you'd see a lot of American drivers move up substantially, based on good results in only the Indy 500, with a couple being right near the top. That would undoubtedly irk a lot of people but at least legends like Clark and Fangio wouldn't languishing in 38th and 41st respectively, because they had less than half the points scoring opportunities of current drivers. Like I said, no ranking system is going to be perfect, but in terms of driver greatness, I think a Points Average per Start is the better system.
So basically somebody like fangio who won every second race but didn't compete in a lot of races is not reward for a stellar record but is penalized for a series that only had a few races a year.
tbh i dont like this formate peter you talking over it is wayyy better
The fact that Alonso is 4th and if he continues at this level or higher and could possibly be 2nd is insane given he has only 2 championships
Why would those who have started like 15 times would be below those who have started 1 time? The 774th have 17 starts but 749th has 5 starts.
I suppose it's taken by how they got the same points in less races?
Not everyone scores points
@user-iv1bv6kv6x yeah, I thought it might be an artifact of the "average points" tiebreaker calculations
In ONE season, Oscar Piastri has put himself in at #151!? That puts his (already impressive) rookie season in an incredible light. Take a bow, my dude.
Fun fact: Duncan Hamilton won the 24 Hours of Le Mans whilst piss-drunk.
Someone reply to me once it reaches the top 100
so many people...
Nello Pagani? Did he found Pagani car brand?
Horacio pagani founded the company, not sure if theyre related, but horacio had close links to fangio.
@@tomcharlton586 Oh... Thanks for the info.
that fangio points average ;)
also I completely lost it at the facts for J. Villeneuve and Leclerc
Wym pending for massa?
I think thats probably about the open 2008 lawsuit...
