Sure it's not dime but he is a guitar god trying to fill the shoes of an irreplaceable guitar god and where on God's green earth is there someone who can play exactly like Dimebag? It not like these songs can be played by any guitarist out there and the fact someone like zack can play it to put dimebag legacy out there is still awesome. I saw them and they were amazing and grateful to see Pantera live.
Off the top of my head, there are two players who would positively nail Dime's playing. They are Wes Hauch and Vogg from Decapitated. There's already lots of Dime in their playing. Atila Voros and Ola Englund would be great too.
What would be even more a shame is if these amazing songs never got the chance to be played live for young & old fans around the world. Phil & Rex were there every step of the way & Zakk & Charlie have been basically brothers with Dime & Vinnie for years. This is for the fans yes, but most importantly to play those songs live. To Honor, respect & shed light to the music of all four members as well as the legacy of Dime & Vinnie. Cash grab they can do anything else to make money believe me. This is for everyone to enjoy & if not for this it's be a fuckin' shame those songs would never get played live by any original members while we still have the chance 🤙

Good god Zakk is in great shape. Happy to see him healthy physically. Mentally and spiritually maybe finding some sort of closure or connection with members, fans and maybe some old crew. Theres always new ways to grow.
Adding another dimension of thunderous licks/riffs keeps a new fresh perspective on how great Zack is. Not easy replacing Dime but my hats off to Zack for stepping up and getting out there night after night. Outstanding work can’t wait to see them.

Zack did a pretty good job with that considering who he's filling in for. Zack can't be Dime, but he can be Zack and in my opinion, he's fitting in well with Pantera.
It would be fucking awesome, but a lot of people would hate it to death, similar to what happened with sepultura after Max left, the music is still awesome, but not everyone likes the "new" vocalist.
Zakk is playing the material in his own style he’s not trying to emulate dime - why would he as a bonafide guitar god - he is simply playing tribute to his friend and the band. All the negativity comes from dumbasses would don’t play and understand that each artist has their own style and sound. I’ve been playing for 30+ years and never try to sound like the original artist but do the piece justice in my own style. It’s called artistic expression and I can’t think of a better guitarist to fill in I would pay to see Zakk over some copycat fucker any day of the week
Zakk shoudl at least have the respect to play the whole song and learn the solo even if it’s his own variation… he gave Randy Rhoads a lot more respect than he gives Dimebag and he didn’t even know him But I guess he doesn’t have to impress ozzy now so why work so hard… he already has a brand.
So I was a huge Pantera fan. I also love Zakk. I love his personality, and his playing. I just have a hard time getting behind this tour. It feels like a cash grab that does not respect the legacy of Dime and Vinnie. Am I wrong? I haven't watched a lot of their concerts on this tour. Are they paying appropriate homage?
I went to one of the shows and I’d say they are. They got the blessing from the families to do this, and have a great Vinnie and Dimebag tribute during planet caravan that had me tearing up. I never had the chance to see them live with Vinnie and Dimebag as I was 3 when Dimebag passed, so that definitely influences my answer a bit, but I think they’re doing it Justice.

Rita was Dime's longtime partner and received Vinnie's best friend and girlfriend got 75% of his estate with the other 25% going to 4 different people. There was a lot of people that signed off on Phil, Rex, Charlie, & Zacc putting this together. They didn't just decide to do it. And yes, you are right, they are certainly being respectful about it all. People need to realize that Phil & Rex are Pantera as much as Vinnie & Dime. Them 4 made Pantera the band it was. None of the "side gigs" were near as good as Pantera. They were the best version of Pantera, so Phil & Rex have all the right to perform under the Pantera name and make new music if they choose to. I don't think new music would be near as good as with Vinnie & Dime, but that's my .02

Unfortunately because Phil can't sing anymore they had to drop the tuning down a whole step from the original recordings already half step drop. Makes it sound turgid and muddy.

I hate to say it but he cant match Dimes tone. It sounds very off and it is supper noticeable plus some parts are played straight up wrong and Zakk has been doing this every show. He makes a joke of the solos and its hard for me to support this.

They certainly are doing this respectfully. Vinnie and Dimebag's wives gave them permission and are definitely getting paid too from it.
