    Totally agree with your opinion about leaving shell cordovan natural and not to put any wax like mirror gloss on …lots of brushing does the trick and cordovan does look better natural like you said …I got those exact shoes myself …great video thx

    Awesome channel that isn't subsumed by being gigantic. I like the calm vibe while doing real work. When would you use a color-specific saphir cordovan cream over their neutral option?

    Was just wondering why would you use Renovateur on shell, if it contains turpentine as a solvent in it?

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  3 года назад +1

      Renovateur is water based. No solvents. You are thinking of the color creams from the MDO and BDC line

    Hi there and thanx for your videos. How do you understand if uppers need another coat of renovateur? I just got a pair of Alden 2210 and just by brushing well the uppers came to be perfect.. they seem to have some polish on dough, so I'm planning a deep cleansing with reno mat and then hydrate them again with renovateur. Right now shell is soft on the sides just after toes ends (opposite side of arch) but pretty stiff everywhere else. Should it all be that soft?
    Many many thanks. Cheers

    People swear by Venetian Shoe Cream for Shell Cordovan, despite the fact that it very clearly contains petroleum distillates which are a solvent. Horween uses Venetian Shoe Cream during the manufacture of Shell Cordovan, and they recommend it for maintenance. If solvents are so bad for Shell, why is Venetian okay? Heck, Renovateur contains coconut alcohol and petroleum distillates, according to its safety data sheet, though in lower concentration than VSC. Saphir doesn't recommend it for Shell. Why use Renovateur here?

    Hi is the cream using the color 8 burgundy? And what does that cap say?

      So from Saphir this is the MDO Cordovan Cream color #71 Cordovan

      Cobblers Plus Inc. is color 71 closest to the burgundy of color 8?

    I watch your video but I have to stop after a few minutes because of the fisheye focus you use.
    Perhaps you should use regular focus frame in order to see better the work you do.

      Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you on this point. I don't want to sound ultra critical as these are great videos but it is a bit difficult to watch. Also, does this master cobbler have experience filling deep scrapes and cuts in shell cordovan? I have heard about Saphir Renovating and Repair Cream. Does this work on shell cordovan? I have also heard about using a crayon to fill blemishes in shell cordovan. If you can upload a video of that, that would be extremely appreciated.

      Appreciate the feed back. Thought this way may be great but may have to redo the video on the next pair doing it at the shop instead of at home.

      Yes renovating repair cream would be a good one to use. I wouldn’t really recommend the crayon just because the wax isn’t really meant to bond to leather to well but if you would like to test that at urself you shouldn’t have trouble removing it if you aren’t happy with the results

      @@JT-gb3gm To repair scratches/marks in shell, get the Saphir cordovan cream that matches your material color, and apply that to the area in 2 or three coats. That is the safest and most effective way to treat your problem.

      @@benjaminkenobi21 Thank you for your response. I shall try that first as I have it on hand. I will try Renovating and Repair Cream (Renovatrice) if the standard cordovan cream doesn't work as I will have to buy that.
