Wow this is SO different than the debut album that would come out 3 years later. With the chorus and flange on the guitars and bass it sounds way more like the new wave stuff that was on its way out at the time. Somewhere in the next couple of years they really started leaning on those heavier guitars. This was fascinating.
This was shot two weeks after Jimmy joined the band. After it he said “If you guys keep playing this crap im gonna call it quit” so Billy drastically changed their sound after this to what we know until today
1. There lt Goes 1:54 2. She-7:37 3. Under Your Spell -11:47 4. My Eternity -17:06 5. Bleed 26:44 6. Nothing And Everything - 32:10 7. Jennifer Ever 42:14 8. Death Of A Mind (Sun) - 49:03 9. Spiteface - 55:44
Some of this footage is in the Vieuphoria Documentary, no sound...just a voice over by Billy, during which he states "We used to be a new wave band. But somehow along the way we turned into...a rock band. And I'm not quite sure how it happened except for the fact that maybe we were away from everything that was going on, and the world allowed us the time to find out what we really wanted to do. I always wanted to be in a rock band, but I guess maybe at the time that we started the band, I was kind of afraid to play rock music because it wasn't very much in vogue.", awesome restoration...Thank You!
I love 💕 the 1st release Gish. This is just so so.... If I hadta guess they'd evolve into the awesome band they'd eventually become I couldn't have been more wrong. I wouldn't buy this. Im so glad Billy did whatever he needed to do to get their "sound" we all know and love.
my favourite live show of all time, this track list should've come out on a compilation album or even a live release or some thing. damn shame to have such beautiful songs left unreleased.
They sound like The Cult on their debut. Billy's vocals are just like Ian Astbury here. He would later develop that whining vampire style he became famous for and would set them apart from every other band.
This is amazing to watch as a lifelong SP fan They we’re so young here and had bonuses what an impact they would make in the rock world . I really liked this new wave psychedelic sound and personally preferred the albums they made as the original line up until machina .
Every song sounded similar, but I still thought it was good. And everyone is still so young. And Billy still even has his long hair. He seems a little shy too. It's really nice that I found this footage here. Thank you for uploading! 48:29 Did Billy say: "Großartig"?
Hi, Lou. My oldest friend, Josh Kohn - who died of an opiate overdose in 2018 - was the guitarist for Love & Addiction, one of the other bands who showed up that day to tape a set. For years, I've tried to track down footage of Josh in any of his various musical incarnations - something I've never had success w/. Yet, out of the blue, this week, I landed on your video and, to my utter astonishment, you mentioned Love & Addiction during your intro. Q: Do you still have footage from L&A's set? I'm fairly certain Josh was still in the band at that point - he moved to L.A. not long after. If you do, are you able to post it here or somewhere else where I could view it. That would truly be a gift! Thanks so much, Jason.
@@remasteredvideos4901 OMFG. That's Josh, on guitar (as the masking tape on his guitar indicates), next to his romantic and musical partner at the time, Geri Soriano, on vocals. I'm stunned. So many things had to align to bring me here. (1) You had to record Love & A. in the 1st place, (2) You had to upload a video name-checking them, (3) I had to click on that video, (4) You had to be generous enough to upload it for me. I can't thank you enough! p.s. If you have any add'l footage, I'm happy to help defray the cost of uploading it! p.s.s. Do you have any footage of Trenchmouth? Josh was a member of that band as well (until 1992 or so).
Every effect was turned up too high... Sounds muddy and over-saturated. I bet a lot of 80's new wave bands sounded like crap live. This was pretty awful but an important part of their early years.

All smashing pumpkins remastered here
reminds me of The Cure, in a good way
The guitar work and tone reminds me a lot of what The Cure ended up sounding like on Wish (1992). And of course that chorused bass is pure A Forest

Exactly what I thought.
Completely agree about the "new wavey" kinda sound. Almost a lil Police-esque. They hadn't gotten to the grit of I am one, and Siva just yet.
@@imaramblins I heard the Cure more than anything else
They have a lot of The cure influences in this sound

Yeah, the evolution of this band from 1988 until 1995 is staggering! The way they sounded early on, it was also a waste of a great drummer. :)
A lot of this actually sounds more like material from their late 90s incarnation (Machina in particular) than anything on their first album.
They need to release this as a Live Album. You can really hear Billy’s talent and all that is to come boiling to the surface here.
Massive Cure vibes coming from this
This is gorgeous. Amazing to hear a talent growing so long before the debut. And those days... A great piece of time...
Darcy is very beautiful (and) in this one!

Awesome! Ive never heard these before. The drums in Death Of A Mind are totally lifted from Tomorrow Never Knows
Totally.

This is amazing. A time capsule! Thank you for this!!
Such fantastic, much wow! Thanks for sharing this with us! Awesome job with this video!
This is great! Definitely worth remastering. Now I want the album! LOL
This is post-punk music the way I would’ve liked it, entertaining and upbeat.
there are studio versions if you prefer

Hear John McGeoch’s guitar influence all over this stuff.
Very Kiss in the Dreamhouse Banshees era!

James Yeehaw with the mullet and the tele!
Appreciate this my guy
Wow!!! Luv this. ❤️
Getting a lot of a The Church or even The Chameleons vibe from this era of their music here.
Definitely hear the Chameleons! Also Seventeen Seconds era Cure, the Cult, a little Siouxsie
Thanks, looks great
Thanks!! is Amazing

Wow what a find
Great
I really liked She
Amazing work! Any chance of a 4:3 version?

"She" sounds like an R.E.M. song ❤
It would be amazing to get a copy of this concert in a lossless audio format like FLAC. I'd pay money.
You can probably find it somewhere on the internet for free.
When it comes to some of the guitar 🎸 playing, it sounds like the playing style of Andy Summers of The Police.
anybody know what's that thing billy used for the solo on the first song is?
hi, if i got your question right, search for: EBow
Ebow! Great little device that causes a guitar string to vibrate for as long as you hold it there.
The song at ~ 33:00 🔥🔥🔥
Who could've known the drummer was a future Carl Palmer?
Very Cure-ish
I don’t mind the filtering, but why crop the aspect ratio? So much visual information is lost.
sorry i didn't know that when i did this
This is awesome, but I wish it was uploaded in the proper aspect ratio. Some serious cropping going on.
Sorry
No sweat. Thanks for sharing!
