When Billy puts on his christmas sweater you know shit is about to get real.
I heard he wears a wig for Christmas as well. A Christmas Wig. A Billy Christmas Wig
Well I think his mom gave/made it to/for him, and Billy loves his mom.
Hahahahahaaha
instablaster.
@@justinwilliam4644 yeah Billy the kid wrote it on his 🎸
"I love my mom"

Hahahahahaha dude I just laughed my ass off at your comment. Holy shit. Long live the mighty pumpkins

Porcelina Of the Vast Oceans....
They had something nobody else could do anything like this song...
Jimmy was speeding up the drums on Zero to mess with Billy... lol
Viper is definitely one and all or at least they beginning of its creation. I have so much more respect for that song no
Thank you beaucoup sir 🌝🤘
Thanks a lot
I love when D'arcy says "Wow!" in response to Jimmy's fill at 42:15
There’s plenty of upside to the collapse of the record industry of the 20th century, but here’s one thing we may never see again: a legit band like this being given the money to spend 8 months straight in the best studios in the world to make a grandiose double concept record.
Anyone can make a record now, but there’s a reason Mellon Collie sounds the way it does. It’s not just the four brilliant artists (you see it in this video); there’s a team of talented and trained people working in their favour, in a very well-equipped and expensive space, making this happen.
I’m just glad it did. A friend told me something that I quote often: [as an artist and human being] Be thankful that you live in a universe where you had Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness to listen to as a teenager...
to be honest i never found mellon collie to necessarily SOUND very good at all. dont get me wrong i love the songs but the actual sound of the album is possibly their worst. at least much worse then siamese dream or gish
@@papadelta9485 in a world where Machina and everything after that exists, you cite MCIS as being their worst? Really!?
@@inphanta The sound not the content.
You must be deaf
@@inphanta whats wrong with machina?
This is a document of the recording of the greatest double album in history. It needs to be valued as much as anything by anyone.
Wish it was properly cleaned up
Damn right... this is amazing 👏
Greatest album in history period.
@@monkeyliver1986 facts
Monumental album, no doubt 👏🙌
I remember my buddy paying 45 dollars to get this on VHS in 99'
Those were the days. What happened? Where's the new wave of awesome bands? I think its overdue.
Cheap
45 dollars in 99 was a lot of money yeah?
@@BazIrvinethey are out there but you have to dig for them. After this we got qotsa, the mars volta, the strokes.....they aren't as good but diffinately very good bands in their own right.
@@BazIrvinethe new wave of awesome musicians are on the internet. a lot of hidden gems out there.
Just in case there was any doubt how musically talented this band was... Holy fuck.
Had youtube existed when I was a teenager, I wouldn't have ever left the house.
+Cameron Chiles not as fun as it sounds.
what's the reason wheres no more good bands.. nobodys going outside to do things
Clevor Trever sad but true
@@Rocksteddybelmont durrrrr duh duh Dinna Dinna dinna durrrrr duh duh dinna Dinna Dinna Heyyyy I'm your life....
I feel like my 90s friend just gave me the grainiest, lowest quality , bad audio version Vhs recording of this awesome new band. AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Thanks for posting this gold.
I dunno what i is, but every time i see Billy, for a split second i think he's British. He doesn't come off as American, until you hear him speak.
The influence of this band has yet to be realized, I can't wait to see what comes of it.
WOW. This is what the original conception of Mellon Collie sounds like. Staggering. Sounds out drunk and with a bunch of flubs. turns into one of the most gorgeous pieces of music ever conceived.
Interspersed by more flubs. I LOVE IT!!!!! So human. SO GORGEOUS!!!
613 songs later... incredible genius, that man is....
So funny how Billy looks at James and D'arcy with such disdain and Jimmy will do a rad fill and he just looks at him and smiles.
I think you're projecting
Just love how Billy plays the piano sounds so beautiful
piece of history
I love MCIS.... My favorite album and this change my life
Corgan with hair! I miss the Meloncollie and the Infinite Sadness days. Jellybelly, F.U. and Ode to No One, Tribute to Johnny Winter, Muzzle, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, Tales of a Scorched Earth, and Thru the Eyes of Ruby, and Set the Ray to Jerry, were my favorite drum songs from that time period. In particular, the intro and outro, for Jellybelly, and the drum fill before the guitar solo for Fuck You. Coolest bass-line goes to the mid-section of Tribute to Johnny.
My favorite guitar tones from these guys
He keeps playing the intro to where boys fear to tread but no-one else joins in. :(
It's fascinating seeing a lot of the clips that appear in "Pastichio Medley" in more extended versions, and with video as well. Great stuff!
I'm sure going bald is hard on anyone but when the spot light is about to shine on you brighter than ever before. Maybe Michael Stipe gave him a call at the 11th hour and said ''listen man just shave it all off and own it''
D'arcy still looks good without makeup and in unflattering light, hallmark of natural beauty.
Too bad the crack got her
😔
Absolute Genius
Oh Billy.. So sweet playing the piano... And so weird with that weird clothes he used to wear back in the 90's.
Riffs and melodies drip off him in this 90s era like burning candlewax
this is simply amazing.
Billy is a fucking genius.
He is very intelligent. Very bright student. He does likely have genius IQ, IMHO.
musical genius. hes a whackadoodle in a lot of other things.
FINALLY uploaded to RUclips! Thank you!
666th comment! 😮 Dont make anymore comments! Haha
Sooooooo coool to see some studio moments!!
I love the two jams of early XYU so much, its so dark and mid evil sounding.
lavajoe889 Rachel
Love getting to hear that version of Zero with just D’Arcy and Jimmy. funky.
los mejores momentos de la banda...😔nostalgia pura.Como quisiera que se reunieran todos y tocarán una vez mas.
The two xyu jams are awesome
Man, if ya ever just wanted to be a fly on the wall in a 🎃's session, THIS is your vid.
at 24:40 he looks so much like the smiling cherub face from the mellon collie disc front. LIL BABY BILLY FACE BILLY BOO
“We give him a xylophone.”
“What’s this?”
“Vert da ferk?”
Hahahahaah
que jodidamente maravilloso por fin completo los videos
♥️Thank you!
it's fucking cool to think.... Billy had like a thousand songs for Mellon Collie... even like the B sides and instrumentals were fucking cool!
Grey Tavares Billy in his prime. Sadly Billy has lost most if not all his writing talent. It happens to all the greats eventually.
Ogilala is one of the best Albums I have heard in a very long time.
Billy your music gives me the butterflies. Love you bro.
Are you sure their not just bullets with butterfly wings?
Masterpiece
Amazing insight into my favourite band. As a non musician, you're not really kinda aware of all this background goings on that go into making recorded music. Really opened my eyes up and has given me even more appreciation of a band that has consumed so much of my life.
this isn't even the 1/2 of it - you should hear bands coming up with stuff - this feels more like a rehearsal than just them jamming.
@@99bajakid most of nirvana's stuff was made by just jamming and alot of it is actually out there so it's pretty cool. Even the lyrics used to be written minutes before the recording of some songs
Pretty crazy to hear the rough version of Ruby which they then turned into one of the best songs ever
I just noticed he plays the piano like a guitar and the guitar like a piano
Could you elaborate on that? do you mean that he plays power chords and octaves in the bass on piano(like a guitarist) and then plays guitar with a lot of melody in his fills?
Very interesting hearing XYU in its early stages.
Yep. That was awesome.
I love this stuff!
Really cool to see this, Thanks!
XYU and Thru the Eyes of Ruby both super early incarnations. I'd love to see how those got fine tuned and if it was Flood seeing something in them that made them worth working on or Billy really wanting them or the rest of the band's input. I knew Muzzle had like a dozen lyric rewrites but it's crazy seeing these songs I know by heart in such early forms.
that lil jam at 20 min is so rad lol ^^
I love listening to Ruby in it's infancy
Love you sooo much billy!
28:08 "Darcy, are you ready to come in?"
28:16 Ready!
Sheeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyysssssss the oooooooooooooooonnnnne for meeeeaaaaayyyyyyyy
Billy was rocking a shirt in this era with '666' on it. maybe that's why, not sure.
In numerology 6's relate to creativity & the home, although too many sixes can have an equal and opposite effect...lazy homebody...like i said becomes work a holic.....just saying...
The 90’s was brought to you by the letter A- Seth McFarlin
There such an underrated band there so ficking awesome & always sounded unique
I think they're pretty rated
@@cmorlolo totally agree. They really are the ultimate and cover so much ground.
Christian Moreno nah they’re one of the most celebrated bands of their time. They are not underrated in any way shape or form.
@@inphanta not compared to Nirvana for example. Pumpkins aren't even in the Hall of Fame
@@leob4403 that makes no sense. A band isn’t underrated just because it isn’t in the rock n roll hall of fame.
Someone needs to make a movie about Billy Corgan.
Smashing Pumpkins: If All Goes Wrong 2008
Ian Cashman that movie sucks tho.
ill do it for less than free
@@studioredband2686 please!
No
Wow beautiful
the first five minutes of the mellon collie intro evoke so much emotion. Way better than the album version.
Yeah. I thought a lot here did more so
I love Billy's sweater.
love the sweater...
Billy Corgan playing The Boy= priceless!
He seems so boyish and more light hearted then
its the hair I'm telling you , his whole personality seem to change when he cut it . Even if he does looks like a serial killer here.
yeah he seems like a real ray of sunshine to work with
Uh, he was literally younger and therefore more boyish...?
It’s clear from this fascinating video that even though Billy wrote most of the songs it took the whole band (and the producers) to bring them together.
Aside from that it’s nice to hear them all bantering and shooting the shit as well. Gives you a real insight to how they are as people.
and it's super clear from this video how terrible Darcy was, I know they were just rehearsing but at this point with a band she know where the notes are on these songs. no wonder they kicked her to the curb.
D'arcy holds it down just fine; she's hardly "horrible" or anything of the sort. She's not a master of her instrument like Billy, but then few are.
They only fired her after a decade with the band when her personal problems got out of hand. If she'd really sucked, Billy would've fired her before they even had an album out.
@@99bajakidthey were working on like 100 songs simultaneously my guy. I think she does pretty well.
I'VE ALWAYS BEEN CURIOUS AS TO SOME OF BILLY'S OTHER UNIQUE ABILITIES OUTSIDE OF HIS MUSICIANSHIP AND THIS FILM SHOWS ME FIRST HAND HIS ONE OF A KIND TECHNIQUE WHILST HANDLING A PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWDRIVER AND I GREATLY THANK YOU FOR THAT, I DIDN'T NEED TO WATCH ANYMORE AFTER THE FIRST 4 AND A HALF MINUTES
He uses a power drill later in the video.
The Viper is an awesome riff!
V8 is so fucking intense, loved it since i first heard it in the pistachio medley
Holy shit I want to like this video but it's at 666 =)
This footage needs the “Get Back”treatment.
Ooh that would be hard because it is filmed on a low res digital camera.
Man I wish the whole Mellon Collie sessions had been recorded like the Let It Be sessions. It would have been amazing to see.
Wow this is a masterpiece
mellon collie and some are from the airplane flies high box set. this is when they put out over 100 songs in like 1 month if i remember correctly. and thenh they sifterd thru what they were willing to keep. i will always love the SP
fugging brilliant piano
YES! THANK YOU!
God !billy is a super lace sensor lover
This gets emotional.
The graceful swans of never say ... thank you.
billy with a power drill...thats new for me.
Epic Christmas sweater!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve always felt that it must so so annoying and frustrating in a recording studio to get things done. So much chaos all in one room.
Well, the practice room vibe is a lot less pressure I find.. you can tell they are a lot more laid back here than they would be in an actual studio.
Reminds me of every band I have ever been in. They were just normal people.
Same for me! Billy's my biggest inspiration!
Best double album ever made yes even the white albums #2
Facts
yeah the sweater owns
Love how billy goes into an interlude before going straight into Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Quite easy to learn on the piano if you ask me.
I love my mom.How sweet.
tambien zero genial billy es un genio y esta increible banda son geniales !!
: ) what a guy! Mr. Billy Corgan's spirit shines here
What a find!
I love how they start off by playing "The Boy" by James Iha. Definitely James' best song.
13:44 Flood is the genius behind the best albums of the decade: Achtung Baby, Downward Spiral, Pretty Hate Machine and of course Melancholy
Yes Achtung is really good
Anyone else noticed the little bit of " The Boy " playing @ 09:29 ? I friggin love this song!
44:50 like being at the birth of Ruby 🙌🏼
The Force is strong in this one... Billy makes sounds and music like if the universe was able to speak... Pure simplicity and greatness.

❤yeeeessssss❤
Whoa, im just now seeing this . I've been a hardcore fan since age 10. Just seen them in Ark Wednesday.
Hes playing Mellon collie
Do you like their new stuff/tunés at all??
I'm so pissed how they hardly filmed anything of Jimmy or James.
big fan
Your comment just made me laugh coffee out of my nose.
