My favorite detail here is the cloaks- Anti is an ass who deserves to carry a torch to Scylla, but his actual experience as a fighter is clear when he discards his cloak at the beginning of the fight. Telemachus doesn't, which gives Anti a lot of opportunities to grab him and throw him around. When Athena shows up to help and give advice, *then* Tele discards his cloak, and even uses it as a weapon/distraction. Which, if you remember mircy's Warrior of the Mind video, is something that Odysseus has done in the past.
38:05 I wanted you guys to notice and appreciate the pure emotion in Odysseus face as he says, "Look what you turned me into!" He's really distressed and so not happy about the man he had to become in order to survive. In my opinion that's a very important part of the song and she portrayed it wonderfully
@MilanDiestelhof Read the comment again. Specifically the last part. They're clearly talking about Duvet when they say "she portrayed it wonderfully." Although I guess it doesn't really matter anymore since I just checked Duvet's channel and her pronouns are confirmed on her profile now.

I really really like Duvetbox's Athena design, it makes a lot of sense to me. Yes there's owl features, but she's the goddess of war and battle tactics: short hair, battle scars, muscled/toned body. Those make sense for any warrior.
I agree it makes logical sense. Though depending on the artist, her more "greek sculpture" design also works. Athena was largely worshipped in Athens, where her intellect was highly valued. In Sparta, Ares was worshipped, so making Athena look like a warrior, or even like a spartan woman, more than a strategist will work for some but not others. I don't think any artist's interpretation can be wrong, as in the end Gods were personifications of concepts. But I do like having that variety, as Wolfy and AnniFlamma very much lean into the typical depictions of Athena with her helmet and feminine appearance, but still very much a warrior. I particularly like how Neal Illustrator makes Athena look unmistakably his daughter. But yeah, variety is good for tales of mythology as they have changed with time and will continue you to.
@@confoundedcoconut7500This is a common misconception. Sparta's patron goddess was Athena. Ares has very few temples in Sparta, the most significant of which depicts him in chains. Pausanias writes, "in Lakonia they think the god of war will never desert them if they keep him in chains; [just as] in Athens they believe Victory will stay with them forever because she has no wings.”
Something i love about Duvetbox's Little Wolf is that before all the stuff with Athena, you can actually see Telemachus fighting back or trying to. Like whenever Telemachus bites down on Antinous' hand to make him let go and so on Also now that it comes to my mind, the wind bag jetpack makes a lot of sense to me when Odysseus is getting out of the water, only because he seems to had been pushed down to the Twilight/Mesopelagic Zone of the sea, which is like the middle of the sea.
“You’re the first person besides mircsy to add owl features” *Polite incorrect buzzer* Irunaki xd invented “Owlthena” where Athena is basically just an owl humanoid. She also has Hermes based off of a rooster, Poseidon as a centaur, Calypso with a dolphin tail, Hera with a lot of peacock stuff, Persephone with bat features, and just every god based off of their sacred animals

So glad you did this colloboration with Duvetbox. I also love the explantion for both the animatics shown here, it made appreciate it even more than i already did. Great video, love ya'll!!!❤ Damn, Duvetbox explaining the animation made me cry. Now my heart is going to hurt for a while. (The eury part was what triggered my ugly crying 😢)
My thoughts on Athena having scars was that even if she is harder to seriously hurt and possibly has a stronger healing factor as a goddess of war she would consider the scars she gets something to wear with pride as a mark of what she’s been up against and, as Duvebox says, evidence of her experience so Athena chooses to let them be visible.
I love Duvetbox applying a rule that only a divine weapon is going to injure a god like that, and making that central to the narrative of the fight. In my dreamworld Epic gets licensed as an animated streaming series and the the key fanimatics creators get brought into the writing/storybording room. i mentioned on the little wolf animatic on duvet's channel that i really liked how they had telem fight using his cloak to entrap and catch the fists/strikes was really cool and a way to play off the warrior of the mind because telem is not as strong but he could outwit antinious to maybe win the fight to show that its sometimes more about skill and wit rather than brute force or strength

It's their first-ever full animatic posted on RUclips that they only finished because of the massive support from the EPIC community and IT'S SO GOOD YOU GUYS! Easily a must-watch, one of the best EPIC animatics out there and easily my personal favorite "Dangerous" 👌
You know, I never really thought about how Odysseus' crew would feel about being "summoned" during 600 Strike. We know that despite all Odysseus did, he still deeply cared about them and was haunted by their deaths (many of which were partially or fully his fault). We see in the Underworld Saga that the vast majority of his men basically hate him for his actions leading to their deaths, I bet the men he sacrificed to Scylla wouldn't be happy to fight alongside him and neither would the remaining men he sacrificed during Thunder Bringer. The only one I can think of that might come to his aid is Polites but of course that's 1 man and not 600. I guess in my mind, I figured his men's hatred of Poseidon might overrule their hatred of Odysseus because Poseidon is the one who, you know, physically killed them by drowning them, but the more I think about that, the less that really makes sense. This doesn't take away from my enjoyment of 600 Strike, in fact musically it's my favorite song from the Vengeance Saga, but this does make me think more about a few of the narrative directions Epic took.
I just noticed that in the 600 strike animatic, when ody is staying posiden, the flashes of characters Ody has killed go in cronilogical order, from the infent to Polites to the soldiers to the sirens and then to euri(or how ever it's spelled.)

I dunno if Duvetbox mentioned it but in Six Hundred Strike the first visualization is the infant, then Polites, then the hands of the fallen men, then the siren, and then Eurylochus.
I love that split second look in Ody’s eyes when he notices the blood on Poseidon face and the realization that he can be hurt/bleed. A small but important detail I really liked!

Ohh, you could watch Orange's animation for Dangerous? It's my favorite because it shows the "protective great-grandfather" side of Hermes (and I also love their design of him)
I love how Poseidon doesn't feel like a sore loser here, but rather, he finds Odysseus's response funny and that Odysseus has finally become just like Poseidon. Ruthless.
The best six hundred strikes yet! And in a weird way the most “realistic” version of it as well. If it does end up on broadway I do think they will follow your lead for how to direct the scene!
It's so interesting seeing the different interpretations to Six hundred strike! Seeing people react to it being that very anime, Odysseus making six hundred strikes with one for each of his men. I've been interpreting it as Odysseus giving one last order to his men, 'Six Hundred, Strike!' telling his men to rally one last time and strike at Poseidon so Odysseus can go home which is why I thought it was Strike not Strikes. That's my interpretation anyway, Loving the content though guys keep it up!
Butch Athena is controversial? I've always imagined her, even before Epic, to have more masculine features, but of course keeping her feminine appearance. Another reason I love duvetbox's character design. (Their antinous & Poseidon designs are also a 10/10))
Cool explanation for the masc Athena. Id actually been interpreting that as Athena had been watching the fight from the beginning but had taken that form to blend in with the suitors.
Ohmygosh, first of all Duvetbox absolutely AMAZING animatics, all the love to you! Secondly, this was such a fun video, maybe (if at all possible) more videos like this in the future? More animators? Maybe? Mayhaps? Please? :D
Oooh i been waiting for slme Duvetbox love, their animatics are so full of energy. Lol, i am super surprised that again, like Neal, is a female 😮....The ladies are killing these animatics, and I am so proud of them!! Also, I would love to hear from Gigi, Neal, and Gwendy all of these amazing animators
I think these 2 greet independent animators with such open arms that they let the (in my own words) janky 3D animation in the livestream actually hurt their perception of the song. I actually think most reactors to EPIC have let the animatics decide too much about their preference/narrative for different songs, which is a bummer because on a blind listen (especially in the first Act) the music does an insane job of building a world and conveying an almost visual experience with just the audio. This is impossible to appreciate fully by seeing such amazing animatic portrayals on first listen though (I know casper has done the last few saga reactions blind, which I have mad respect for). With all that said, I blind listened to 600 strike and couldn't tell what on earth was going on. Animators have a lot more creative room to take the song wherever they want. @Duvetbox put on an absolute clinic with this animatic, IMO. Closed so many "plot holes" that the livestream animation presented. One of my favorite narrative animatics in the whole EPIC community, hands down!
The word Casper might have been looking for is Gradient. Ombré works too, but the more common term when not talking about an object (like hair) with that effect is gradient.
I don't know if you'll see this, but it recently occurred to me that there's a piece of media that's exactly in your wheel house and but its also not quite? I say not quite because it's a video game, but that said Its called Stray Gods and why I say it's perfectly in your wheel house is that its a game that's also a musical and its about Greek mythology. The music in it is incredible, the cast is outstanding, buying the game is not that expensive and honestly you can play through the whole game in an afternoon- and its almost endlessly replayable. Part of the mechanics of the game is you make choices for how the songs will go, and depending on your choices the narrative and sound of the song changes. Even if you don't record it, I think you both would really enjoy checking it out if you're at all interested! Its really good and while it's story is completely different from EPIC the two have similar energies.
You can look up the music from the game, but i will say some of the best versions of the songs are ones where you mix up which path you take through the songs, and general there aren't recordings of those you can just listen to.
20:45 I literally went through the same process too. I had that new song bias, then thought it wasn't really doing it for me. But now its songs are always playing in my head!
1.I think you'll like Irunaki's designs for the gods. They made Owlthena(pls check out their animatics) 2.Duvetbox's animatics are amazing and the attention to detail is crazy!
I love how Athena is drawn though i get more of a Bellona Vibe from her. Especially her more powerful body language in the animation. Bellona the Roman Goddess Of War for those who weren't aware.))
I don't usually like to say to content creators you should do this or do that, but I think you and Casper would love the Dangerous animatic( it's honestly an animation with how smooth it is) by Zieru. You won't regret it
In light of my voice reveal I will henceforth be opening an ASMR enterprise.

Duvetbox trying to stay humble while getting just absolutely glazed by these two is hilarious.
Duvet absolutely COOKED with the 600 Strike animatic!!
It is my absolute favorite and definitely made me like the song more!
(Their antinous & Poseidon designs are also a 10/10))
Was definitely excited to see this pop up, Duvetbox is absolutely amazing
Cool explanation for the masc Athena. Id actually been interpreting that as Athena had been watching the fight from the beginning but had taken that form to blend in with the suitors.
Thanks duvetbox for giving ideas for the six hundred strike flashes 😀
not the "TWENTY-EIGHT STAB WOUNDS." lol
Duvetbox's Thunderbringer is still my absolute hands down favorite design of Zeus.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS favorite 600-strike version!
Duvetbox has my favorite Thunder Bringer by far, love to see them getting some attention
Duvetbox's Thunder Bringer is sooooooo good!
Also Noir.Hyacinth also has a lot of owl-ish features in their Athena, as does AnniFlamma's God Games
My take is that the souls of the crew more want to hit back at Poseidon than they want to help Ody
I was not ready for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.I think you'll like Irunaki's designs for the gods. They made Owlthena(pls check out their animatics)
2.Duvetbox's animatics are amazing and the attention to detail is crazy!
Yes! Duvetbox :D
I saw that someone's already said it but it's okay: You guys have to watch Zieru's Dangerous. It came out yesterday, and it's literally a masterpiece.
Love the 600 strike really makes it feel like its more real if that makes sense instead of the jet pack.
I love how Athena is drawn though i get more of a Bellona Vibe from her. Especially her more powerful body language in the animation.
Bellona the Roman Goddess Of War for those who weren't aware.))
Loved this! On the ichor thing--the correct pronunciation is eye-chor like how Casper says it!
I don't usually like to say to content creators you should do this or do that, but I think you and Casper would love the Dangerous animatic( it's honestly an animation with how smooth it is) by Zieru. You won't regret it
