This is the first I've heard the entirety of the song and the part where he talks of assaulting Penelope scared me because she doesn't have her husband anymore, her son is the last she has, imagine finding out your son is missing-presumably dead-after getting harassed by multiple men???
Ach, I wouldn't bet on it. This reminds me a little of Hellfire, and goodness knows we ain't gonna get another song like that. Especially how sensitive Disney has been lately... It's really sad that they aren't taking risks like what they did with Hunchback, because it genuinely turned out amazing. It would take something apocalyptic for them to make movies like that again. I'm tired of all the live action stuff. It's all just recycling old material now....
I highley doubt they would write a song about the villain killing and SAing a mom and her child but yes a song more child friendly like this would be amazing
Me and my buddies had a hilarious thought after listening to Hold Them Down. Just imagine Antinous sincerely trying to string the bow before suddenly just remembering "Wait a minute, Why the fuck am i doing this I'm evil?" Then Hold Them down starts. Or even better he just sees the shroud that Penelope has been unstitching and like a cartoon character his head turns into a donkey and the word "Jackass" appears above his head. He's just like "Why did i wait 20 fucking years to try this."
ok, I love how you depicted the suitors, for one particular reason, odysseus portrayal. Suitors are black, one eyed, barely even human- then ody is demonstrated in much the same way, yet the blue contrasts him- by color theory and design, hes literally a different beast now.
Oh that's a cool observation about them looking like one-eyed monsters hell bent on destroying what they're focused on just like the cyclops! I also took the blue to represent Odysseus' change into becoming ruthless like Posideon
I always saw the blue as an athena relation because of the whole warrior of the mind. Useing his mind to take every advantage he can. Knock out the lights so no one can see him, hiding the weapons (,(tho i believe telemachus gets the credit for this), using his knowledge of his place in conjunction with that to attack, kill in one hit (so no Retaliation) then sinking back in the dark. Having said all that, i will not deny poseidon like did affect cause lets be honest: Odysseus was absolutely being ruthless
it also works in contrasting them further when you think about: the suitors are selfish and wish only to take and get what they want uncaring as to the consequences, while Oddyseus while cold seeks to defend what is already his. The suitors are fueled by hotblooded hedonism while oddyseus is driven by cold ruthless protection.
Pretty sure it’s a viola which is Penelope’s instrument so what you hear IS a musical version of her cry’s. As yet another SA survivor (why are there so many of us in this community 😭) this is horrifying in a way that’s so elegantly handled. The whole team really out did themselves with this saga.
Why is nobody talking about Telemachus getting deflowered while Antinous is talking about hurting him ? I loved that detail so much because yes, Of course Antinous wouldn't just stop at torturing and killing him.
I love the parallel you did with Telemachus and Penelope with the hand shot at 1:47 and 2:21, the comparison between murder and sexual assault was something I thought was interesting when listening to this part of the saga
@@zerokun2655 to deflower someone is an old way of saying "to take away someone's virgïnity" and in the video there is a flower that's losing its petals, which can be interpreted as. r*pe

from snippets to a whole version gang the way Odysuess is literally in the crown when they're plotting to murder his wife and son. RIP Antinous, you were hawt in literally every depiction but youre still a bastard
Since I heard this song I i was like "what does he mean by breaking Telemachus trust, faith?", cuz when Antinous spoke about Telemachus i assumed the pride a bones stuff was implying torture him or beat him up, y'know? It made sense to me but kept me wondering. But the deflowered flower and the parallel between Telemachus's profile and Penelope's during their respective scenes gave me chills. It made the whole sentence scare me as much as Penelope's for the new implications that Antinous's words might had had. Anyways, i love your animatic. The blue Odysseus looking as dangerous as the suitors but with good intentions instead (protect his family at all costs) was incredible ✨
This is exactly what I’m saying, you understand my thoughts process, everyone think he would’ve just kill Tele, but the lyrics got me deep and Epic Antonious would absolutely stop at nothing to humiliate him, and it would be a great way to and then break everything including his pride, faith and trust
Didnt think Antonious would go this low ( SA Telemacaus) Just to humiliate him like dude taht is devoius but im pretty sure Antnoius would traumatise Telemacaus(by SA him ) just to humiliate him or also as a part of reveng bc Antonious got injured in the song fight little wolf . Epic the musical dont sleep at this bc their fast
The worst part is he has the voice of someone who is almost kingly. He has the charisma and passion to inspire the others, almost like a main character would. He is just absolutely evil 😅
I love that Antonios thinks it's an amazing idea to discuss his plan to kill the prince and the other thing with his crew and a group of strangers not knowing Ody is home
Tbh my personal theory for why Odysseus didn’t shoot immediately, people say that it’s because he was waiting for the axes to align and then shoot Antinous, which is absolutely a phenomenal theory- My personal opinion? He was seething in so much rage that he couldn’t stop trembling, and his bow wouldn’t aim straight- he couldn’t until the final “channel the fire inside of your soul!” Quite literally following the advice of the suitors and channeling the firey rage inside of his very being just to stop the trembling and manage the shot- Oh btw INCREDIBLE ANIMATIC? YA’LL WORK SO DANG QUICKLY OH MY GOODNESS AND I WILL NEVER BE COMPLAINING LOL!
ahh, i always thought it was like it was said in the next song “While we were busy plotting He hid our weapons inside this room” and that he was locking up the palace while they were plotting, but yeah this works too!
I LOVE how you can see Ody creeping around in the background right before he kills Antinous and you can hear Jay's voice getting louder. Also, you portrayed Penelope's and Telemachus's fear super well
Gotta say, this is one of the best “Villain” songs I’ve heard, in a album filled with great villain songs no less. The kind of songs in a musical where the bad guy is being an absolute bastard and you LOVE to hate him. What makes this stand out from other villain songs like “Be Prepared” “Other Side” or “Hellfire” is that usually the villain’s song is meant to be the moment they’re plans come to fruition and their full power achieved. Antinous certainly THINKS he’s getting it all, but unlike those other songs, and unknown to our villain, the protagonist is in the crowd, stringing his bow, even singing along at one point…and growing more and more enraged with each threat the suitors make. Unlike the other villains, Antinous talks a big game but has nothing on Odysseus. He’s about to get put in his place so hard he doesn’t get to finish his big villain song, instead getting cut off mid-verse with an arrow to the throat.
Whoa this is fantastic, nice job! I adore how when the suitors are holding Telemachus down, they just have one gleaming evil eye and the rest is obscured by shadow. Very clever imagery invoking the Cyclops and the power/helplessness dynamic that creature reminds us of. Wonderful work!
I can't stop watching this, it's so great. Also I loved the detail of the flower that withers at the word faith in "while i slowly break his pride, his trust, his fate and his bones" because in greek mythology it's often used the flower as a metaphor of young death,an example is Euryalus and Nisus,in the Aeneid. I just love it soo much. You captured both Antinous's wickedness, Telemachus's fear/boldness,Odysseus's rage and Penelope's fear with this art.So beautiful, keep it up!
1:06 I bet Telemachus’ “Diplomatic Mission” was a long ass training sesh with Athena given how in the animatic shown on the stream he showed up with Athena’s armor and was cleaning house with the suitors.
If you listen closely, you can hear Odysseus singing along with the back up singers. And his voice gets louder as his prepares to enact his ruthless plan.
I need an animatic where Antianous is trying to push Telemacus into the water, but Poseidon throws him back every time, like "I sank one of his ships, and got 600 strikes for that, ain't about to find out what he'll do if I drown his only son, I still have holes in me"
Man when he said "only the ocean and I WILL KNOW!" I bet ya Posidon was screaming so hard He does NOT want any part of odysseus's bloodline neer him ever again
An amazing detail in this song is when the suitors and Odysseus shift from men into monsters represented by the single eye which I assume references Polyphemus. For the suitors, it's when they begin describing how they will murder Ody's son and for Odysseus himself it's when after the main suitor, can't remember his name, talks about 'tasting' Penelope and the rest of the suitors agree by saying "Here and now, there's a chance for action."
@@Mad_Heretek they had most of the song besides the beginning and ending for months it would give them a idea to what to do when they heard it was coming out this week
@ I’m aware of that lol. Still, it’s kinda a meme in the Epic fandom at this point how fast the animators work. Even before Jorge started working more closely with some animators, several of them were uploading animatics and animations within literal days of the full songs being released. There have been animators making animatics of songs that hadn’t even been released yet, just tiny teaser snippets from Jorge himself that he uploaded with only him singing, I saw an animatic for ‘Odysseus’ like six months ago, that was like 30 seconds long and made from a tiny snippet he posted on TikTok. They’re so fast that they are literally making animatics before the songs are even out, that’s part of the joke 😅
And you are officially the fifth (I think) person to join the “ incredible and speedy creator of a masterpiece” club. This art style is so good and you show so much emotion on the characters faces. Well done!
Y’know I was genuinely not expecting them to actually just talk about SA in this series given how they tried to humanize Circe, and Calypso, or at least they didn’t as directly imply what happened in the og story
hold it down is such a fun villain song but it's also unique in the sense that it doesn't exist to make the villain intimidating- how can they be, by now we know Odysseus is there- we know that hes faced a lot worse than a group of men but agh it gets so good cause this song this song validates their death- there's no moral dillema here like with Circe and the Cyclopse, no need to even try to reason or appease like Poesidon and Zues. They are the monsters who deserve to be slayed and Odysseus is just the monster to ensure its done
Hypothesis: I think Poseidon knew exactly what was likely to happen to Odysseus's family if he never returned. I mean what better way to make people not want to mess with you than to utterly destroy a man from top to bottom, leaving an entire kingdom in ruins in your wake
I like to imagine that some of the last suitors are going to gather around in the main hall after ody kills most of them and when the surviving suitors are like “who is you??” Ody takes off his cloak to reveal a bunch of golden god blood from him stab stab Poseidon :3
I love how Odysseus is just standing there blending in, unnoticed, and how angry he gets when they talk about killing Telemachus and raping Penelope. If I was in that situation, I’d just jump out and say, “surprised to see me?” then just get started. They would be filet-o-fish. Great job with the animatic, though. I don’t even know how to draw, but this is better than how I draw because I draw stockmen for practice, but it doesn’t work 😅 anyway, loved the video, and good luck on future projects
Do like the detail of when the criems are being depicted (Telemachus's murder and Penelope's assault), the suitors are shown with one eye obscured. Like a visual comparison to show that human they might be, they are as monstrous as the cyclops Polyphemus.
@shaetheelf31Yes that's exactly what it is! Throughout the song he amongst the suitors, and as Antinous is yapping more Odysseus gets more angry/ louder.
2 things 1. i personally think the death is a bow shot to the neck to show ody stringed the bow without people realising it 2. "you got any ibuprofen, i got a headache" (massive wound)
"Only the ocean and I will know" ...and all of the suitors you just announced it to who are supposed to help you with this plan. Kind of makes me wonder if he was planning to start picking them off later, because once the way to the throne was clear for them, infighting was just about guaranteed to start.

This is the first I've heard the entirety of the song and the part where he talks of assaulting Penelope scared me because she doesn't have her husband anymore, her son is the last she has, imagine finding out your son is missing-presumably dead-after getting harassed by multiple men???
Jay keeps manging to make me hate the suitors more than I already did.
Disney needs to take notes from this on how to write the perfect villain song

10 years actually! The suitors appeared there when ody didn't return
@@LimenShen I heard it was three years, actually
ok, I love how you depicted the suitors, for one particular reason, odysseus portrayal. Suitors are black, one eyed, barely even human-
then ody is demonstrated in much the same way, yet the blue contrasts him- by color theory and design, hes literally a different beast now.
Oh that's a cool observation about them looking like one-eyed monsters hell bent on destroying what they're focused on just like the cyclops! I also took the blue to represent Odysseus' change into becoming ruthless like Posideon
@@inkylampy1693 that too, its often used in the visual representations, i love it, polyphemus haunts the narrative in little ways all the way throught

Yeah they shouldn’t make a song about it 😡 I’m so sorry 😢
@Kaminoboi As an SA survivor, is fine for me to make a song about it.
@Kaminoboiit’s part of the story it fuels more into ody rage. It super sad but it shows how wicked these monsters were
Why is nobody talking about Telemachus getting deflowered while Antinous is talking about hurting him ? I loved that detail so much because yes, Of course Antinous wouldn't just stop at torturing and killing him.
OMG I JUST REALIZED WHAT THAT STOOD FOR! I am crying rn. Ody should have made them suffer more. 😢

I love the parallel you did with Telemachus and Penelope with the hand shot at 1:47 and 2:21, the comparison between murder and sexual assault was something I thought was interesting when listening to this part of the saga

@@IsabellaNguyen-ts2cc No, Most Likely Majority Of The Other Suitors Would Be Helping Hold Her Down. (Antinous Is Icky.)
*So my man's not only Griffith from berserk but Diddy as well... Homie got off light with an arrow to the throat*

Me in the background, just looking at Ody: yo, do you hear this? just diabolical.
Tbh my personal theory for why Odysseus didn’t shoot immediately, people say that it’s because he was waiting for the axes to align and then shoot Antinous, which is absolutely a phenomenal theory-
My personal opinion? He was seething in so much rage that he couldn’t stop trembling, and his bow wouldn’t aim straight- he couldn’t until the final “channel the fire inside of your soul!” Quite literally following the advice of the suitors and channeling the firey rage inside of his very being just to stop the trembling and manage the shot-
Oh btw INCREDIBLE ANIMATIC?
I think in the book he just goes searching for his father for some 20 days or a couple months and comes back the day Odysseus arrives in Ithaca dhdhdh

I need an animatic where Antianous is trying to push Telemacus into the water, but Poseidon throws him back every time, like "I sank one of his ships, and got 600 strikes for that, ain't about to find out what he'll do if I drown his only son, I still have holes in me"
Ohhhh I read a fanfic like that on AO3, it was so good
Man when he said "only the ocean and I WILL KNOW!"
I bet ya Posidon was screaming so hard
He does NOT want any part of odysseus's bloodline neer him ever again
An amazing detail in this song is when the suitors and Odysseus shift from men into monsters represented by the single eye which I assume references Polyphemus. For the suitors, it's when they begin describing how they will murder Ody's son and for Odysseus himself it's when after the main suitor, can't remember his name, talks about 'tasting' Penelope and the rest of the suitors agree by saying "Here and now, there's a chance for action."

Well done!
I love how you can see Ody watching them from the beginning. Also how f*cking savage and unhinged Antinuous looks when he’s talking about his plan
Y’know I was genuinely not expecting them to actually just talk about SA in this series given how they tried to humanize Circe, and Calypso, or at least they didn’t as directly imply what happened in the og story
Okay, IT HASNT EVEN BEEN A DAY THIS IS A FULL LENGTH ANIMATIC, WHAT THE HELL
THIS IS GORGEOUS, LITERALLY HOW?
hold it down is such a fun villain song but it's also unique in the sense that it doesn't exist to make the villain intimidating- how can they be, by now we know Odysseus is there- we know that hes faced a lot worse than a group of men but agh it gets so good cause this song this song validates their death- there's no moral dillema here like with Circe and the Cyclopse, no need to even try to reason or appease like Poesidon and Zues. They are the monsters who deserve to be slayed and Odysseus is just the monster to ensure its done
Do the suitors forget that penelope is from sparta
I am pretty sure they were arrogant as fuck
One way or another Ares is getting his promised bloodshed. He'll be as satisfied of it coming from Penelope as Ody

Hypothesis: I think Poseidon knew exactly what was likely to happen to Odysseus's family if he never returned. I mean what better way to make people not want to mess with you than to utterly destroy a man from top to bottom, leaving an entire kingdom in ruins in your wake
I like it, no one messes with Odysseus’s kingdom and family.

This is the evil, selfish version of Ody's dialogue in the wooden horse
I love how Odysseus is just standing there blending in, unnoticed, and how angry he gets when they talk about killing Telemachus and raping Penelope. If I was in that situation, I’d just jump out and say, “surprised to see me?” then just get started.
