- Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door has some attacks, items, and abilites that have a unique property. They can pierce through an enemy's defense! Sadly this is almost never useful since most enemies don't have enough defense to warrant their use over stronger attacks like power bounce or stampede.
Thats why in this challenge I forced these attacks to be good... By making every enemy have infinite defense!
This forces the use of these underused attacks and creates an interesting challenge!

Not just Fiery Jinx, but Shade Fist can still burn enemies even if the punch doesn't do damage. It's how I've beaten Koopatrols that hide inside of their shells, and keep Elite Wizzerds from staying cloned if I don't boost her attack.

15:38 except in the remake, where they also changed Hammer Throw to pierce defence and not be affected by hammer upgrades with a base 2 damage, for... some reason???
yeah. Sadly I don't have a way to mod the enemy stats of the remake. Wouldve been a way to actually make hammer throw useful in some way
@@AstronOtterI would argue it’s useful in Hammermam challenges, if only to give Mario a way to hit aerial enemies without using items or SP. It’s a very small niche, but a bigger one than Ms. Mowz.

another thing about superguards is that the iron clefts are immune to them, so for this challenge to work they have to be immune to superguards too. 1:34 well, items are... also ignored by them

I recall getting decent use out of Ms. Mowz in some half-way Pit runs (since my original intention in the remake was to do a new run of the Pit every chapter or two where I went 20 levels deeper, only to realize I was severely overlevelling) but that also might be because I didn't remember Flower Finder being so goated for the Pit (I wasn't gonna grind my special power up to spam Sweet Treats for Smooch that'd've taken forever! I mean I think I had to do something similar sometimes for an even earlier run but yeah Ms. Mowz was convenient at least. Definitely the worst regardless)

Mrs Mowz would be a great team member... if you got her earlier. Like, WAY earlier. In chapter 2 or 3.
Mostly because of stealing badges. That's her real gimmick, but by the time you get it it's usually so late game that you've passed over half the badges you'll ever see.
The remake really blew their chance to make her recruitable as early as chapter 3 (after you met her in the pit). Taking the mission from the help desk could simply open the wall rather than require a bomb, then you already have Flurry so everything lines up. It would go a long way to having her be reasonable.

There is one challenge you could do with Ms. Mowz that would make her useful: no shopping at stores. You can only use items and badges that come from blocks, chests, and battles. You can use Kiss Thief to take them away from enemies directly.
And before someone says Item Hog, no, it does not guarantee any items and badges held by enemies in battle will be dropped afterwards.

Mowz is the best partner if you do a BP-heavy run (which is what most experts do) as they help with getting a variety of badges

Yes, actually. Because even though you can use sweet treat to get your FP back, If you are out of SP and FP. You're out of luck. So if you have insufficent SP and FP, Mouz would be extremely useful for specifically this challenge. That way, you can damage enemies while you are appealing to the crowd.
At that point I'd rather just appeal with both members. Also, you realistically should never be low enough on both FP and SP that the only thing you can do is appeal
Wouldn't Goomba be good once she gets rally wink as that means Mario can act twice per turn?
Could be useful on getting two specials per turn.
Yeah, but in fights that last a long time, using 2 specials in one turn isn't better than using 1 special and another partners attack

I mean, it Could be useful, but it wouldn't be better than just using other moves that actually deal damage

I probably wouldve done it in the remake if i had a way to change the enemies' defenst, but I have no way to do that as of right now

Look up TTYD Practice Tool. There's a process to get it on your game, but it's so worth it haha
I wish this exist for the remake as a mod. I would love to play it. Currently have the toadette mod along with the original dialogue mod for the remake.
