- A playthrough of Mega Man 3 as it appears in Capcom's 1994 compilation title for the Sega Genesis, Mega Man: The Wily Wars.
This recording is of RetroBit's re-release of the US NTSC version of the game.
Just like the other two games in the collection, Mega Man 3's Genesis remake has great graphics, nice remixes of the original music, and gameplay that, while not identical to the original's, still nails down a pretty good facsimile of it.
Mega Man 3 is by far my favorite Mega Man game, and its 16-bit upgrade certainly doesn't do anything to harm that opinion. (But really, why is there so much slowdown? The Genesis should be able to handle this without breaking a sweat.)

Here's the third and final remake of The Wily Collection, and it's just as good as the other two for the Genesis.
In reply to your question about slowdown in the description, it's probably the same reason there are bugs from _Morrowind_ that still exist in _Oblivion_ and _Skyrim._ The developers used the same engine for all three games and never actually fixed and optimized the code responsible. That would require time and money the company didn't want to spend. When they ported them to the Genesis, they didn't even touch the old code and instead updated the graphics and sound alone.

@@ernestlemmingway1124 That would make sense. All of them suffered from slowdown the same way as they did on the NES.
They really did the intro song justice. They even added some West Coast 90’s G-Funk at 1:21; Warren G and Nate Dogg “Regulate” style. Pretty awesome. Beyond the gameplay and 16-bit graphical “upgrades” to these 3 legendary games, hearing the Genesis renditions of all the classic songs is so great. This would have been a dream to have on my SNES. I would have wanted this as much as I wanted my NES Double Dragon to have a simultaneous 2-player mode back in the day. :)

The game that introduced me to Megaman franchise and still my favourite ! I cant avoid feeling trilled every time I hear TopMan's stage intro as when I played by the first time!
While many think this is just a regular port of MM1-3 just with remixed music consider this:

Love the 16 bit remakes of the first three Mega Man games but wish Capcom did the same with the last three games. Would have been pretty cool to see them get the 16bit touch up.

IV would been a good inclusion. But perhaps because cartridges have their limits, that great chapter was left out. At least we got something new with Wily's Tower.
I would have fitted without problems. Think of "Super Mario All-Stars" (which even added "SMW" later).
Its Weird How This Game Didnt Release On The SNES But It Released On The Genesis. Genesis Owners Sure Do Have An Advantage Over SNES Users.

This is still the same Megaman 3 that I know and love - Right down to the unnecessary padding (36:39). Only *_now,_* Megaman now takes forever to leave the room after defeating a Robot Master.

Great conversion to 16-bit hardware overall, but why on earth is Proto Man shorter than Mega Man?
Seems Capcom forgot to update his sprite, instead directly porting his NES sprite to the game, while increasing Mega Man's size. In other words, Capcom dun goofed.
Same reason why Mario is shorter than Luigi.
No one has a clue.
@@AverageJoeMama That’s a different story. I’m talking about how Proto Man was the same height as Mega Man on the NES version, but is shorter on the Genesis.

People in Brazil might find the music better, but those of us in the US find it a mixed bag. Some songs sound good, others aren't as good as their NES counterparts.
As for the graphics, it was an upgrade from 8 to 16 bit, so of course things were going to be updated, that is, except ProtoMan's sprite.
It's a shame that Genesis never had Mega Man X, but at least it had this.
Best part is that Top Man (mostly) no longer lives in a greenhouse for some odd reason.
You have the best luck getting extra life drops in these videos...not that you need them 😁
They totally redid Mega Man’s sprites, but not Proto Man, so he’s just…tiny.

Interesting...it appears the further you get into this collection the better the games look. Now, I understand that is how it worked on the Nes. The more the development team/s built Man Man games on the Nes the more they were able to push the envelope.
My issue is all three are on the same collection, utilizing the same build, and all featured on the same console. The more I look at all three the more it becomes obvious. It's not a subtle shift either Mega Man 3 looks far more improved than the first.
A big reason MM3 looks more advanced in visuals is that they used an enhancement chip on the board called MMC3 chip which allowed for higher memory storage & additional features thats too techy for me to fully understand but yeah. This MMC5 chip would also be used for Megaman 4,5 & 6.

@@solmaxx Mais rien à voir, c'est juste une question de droit, le fais qui n'y a pas aussi tout les mega man sur la Genesis. Et surtout car Capcom ont toujours été des gros flemmard en ce qui concerne l'émulation, je suis désolée mais l'émulation des compilations Mega man, n'est pas optimiser. Si la on devait juste être objectif et qu'on ce mais d'accord sur Mega man 3 version Genesis il tout de même mieux pour ça fluidité, et c'est un 👉 essentiel pour jouer à mega man. Puis je connais bien le 3 sur nes, je l'aime beaucoup, mais sont défauts majeurs c'est les ralentissement, ça gâche tout le jeu, tu peux mourir pour rien à cause de ça.
@@Dorian620 la question n'a rien à voir avec l'émulation... megaman version Nes 8bit vs version Genesis 16bits je suis désolé mais il est horrible rien que les music dégueulasse, les graphisme style amélioré sont une catastrophe visuelle... clairement tu dois être un des rares à apprécié la version Genesis toute à ton honneur
@@solmaxx mais je n'apprécie pas plus la version Genesis que la version NES, je dis juste que faut être objectif, la version NES n'es pas non plus 1000x mieux. Ça reste cool de ce dire qu'il est eu une compilation des 3 méga man sans les ralentissement. Puis la musique et les graphismes c'est les goûts et les couleurs. Le seul point noir de la version Genesis c'est le prix. Puis je sais pas pour toi mais pour ce qui est des jeux je préfère jouer sur les machines d'origines. Pour ma part j'ai beaucoup d'affection pour les versions NES, mais je dois reconnaître que les versions Genesis reste sympa, même si on est plus sur un Mario all star. Puis les bugs et les ralentissement corrigé ainsi que la grosse barre noir à gauche qui était sur la version NES. D'ailleurs si tu aime bien le style 8bit je te conseille grandement les hack chinois de mega man 7 et 8, sur NES, c'est pas comme sur psx ou SNES, mais pour être honnête le résultat n'est pas horrible.

Well there are no wily wars styled megaman games with a new story...
There is a fan project called the sequel wars, its like the wily wars but with mm 4, 5, 6 and runs on the genesis!

This soundtrack has really grown on me. I think some tracks are even better than the originals but that's just me

Did it come out at the same time from the nes version or is it a remaster made later? Or did Nintendo always have the worst graphics?
This came way after. Mega Man 3 came out in the NES in 1990. The NES hardware is a full generation behind the Genesis's.
