due to the robot masters being fan submissions, the developers often just made levels and then assigned robot masters to them with minor changes made to fit them more. ever notice how heat man's stage is essentially just a sewer?
Maybe this factors in too but in development someone tripped on a cord of Keiji Inafunes computer and fucked up what was the original background of Top Man’s stage so he had to re do it again real quick

You can actually use top spin without taking damage. If an enemy dies in one hit, mega man won’t take damage. You can actually see this tactic in action at 2:56.
My first Mega Man experience, and my favorite Mega Man of all-time. Every stage song, a banger, including Wily's entire Castle. I played the living ish out of this game growing up. And, not only for the challenge, but for the soundtrack as well.
The fastest time I beat in my own Speedrun was like a low 44 minutes this was when I have the weird space jump glitch and the up climbing motion was very slow when it happened to me that’s why I ended up beating it quickly in 44 minutes. Update: After not speedrunning Mega Man 3 for a long time I now beat my old record and now my fastest time is now 42:57 which is my new fastest time.

You just beat shadow man, scroll to his weapon on the sub screen, and move over to the spot where Rush jet would be, then correct power ups to fill it up. Secret of the pros. ;)

In the beginning of gemni man's stage i noticed them getting a lot of small weapon energies and i wondered why as collecting health/energy pauses the game but then i saw they had just enough energy for the section which is very cool
@@LunaMinuna no joke. Hard man's ability is technically the super effective weapon to top man, but it is so slow, it essentially would kill a speed run.
it's a testament to how much of a rush job mega man 3 is that not only does it run faster without the music playing but there are multiple easily accessible bugs that can clear the music for a time
You do realize the 6502 is both the main CPU AND the sound chip/CPU? It’s not like the Mega Drive where you can make another microprocessor the sound CPU (that being the Z80). The NES was extremely limited in general. Even bigger games like Battletoads is susceptible to massive performance issues, no matter how impressive it is.
Mega Man speedruns get REALLY interesting once Rush and the Sliding mechanic were implemented. Mega Man 1 didn't have much, Mega Man 2 had zips because of the Item, but Mega Man 3 now has you rhythmically pressing Down+Jump while also trying to figure out the best Rush routes
1 didn't have much? What do you mean? Elec, Ice, Flame, Bomb and Guts stages all have zips, and so do all the Wily stages. The only one that doesn't really have anything is Cut. Every stage after that has glitches and zips, and a lot of them.
this game's speedrun being "interesting" can be more attributed to it being incredibly rushed and held together with duct tape than introducing rush and the slide
Speedruners try to cut down on lag where they can through gameplay. Mario 64 runs typically adjust the camera on dire dire docks because of this reason since the submarine causes lag. You can still see lag on top man's stage when more than one of the Met dozens spawn, they just kill most things before they cause lag

Enemy hitboxes (the parts that can actually hurt you) are sometimes smaller than their graphics suggest, so it's possible to slip by an enemy despite it looking like you should be hitting them.
As far as I remember , games like castlevania has two version. 1st ver: Lost 1 hp when U take 1dmg. 2nd ver : Lost 2hp when U take 1dmg. More like region variants. Jpn ,US
I Remember having a family computer and having like those cartriges that hold a lot of games, and coincidentally, It had megaman 3. Literally only Megaman 3. and something was really off about it, I Couldnt take damage from ANY source, aside from things that instantly kill you like voids and spikes and stuff. Odd.
It isn't a guy playing it, it's a bot playing it that these 2 have made to run this game. They can go frame by frame and do what they want to do, then have it run the game using those inputs those chose. It takes weeks and months to set it up, then the bot does it automatically.
Mega Man 3 isn't hard at all. The doc robots, maybe, but it's otherwise of average difficulty. Nowhere near among the likes of Mega Man 1, Mega Man 4, Mega Man & Bass, Mega Man 9, Mega Man 11, etc

There's a glitch that lets you scroll your cursor to weapons you don't own yet. I forgot exactly how it works though, I've done it on real hardware.

There's a rom hack that greatly reduces the slow down, and even restores some of the content left out before the game shipped.
