Love how melina has nothing to say if you get miquellas needle or subdue the frenzied flame with it. Like she really doesnt find it remarkable that we used the frenzied flame to save her and then subdued it without becoming lord of frenzied flame
Wait hold on, really? Can you explain more pls
Melinas only dialogue about the frenized flame is to persuade you to not mess with it. Miquellas needle subdues it after you take it, but she has no dialogue related to that, neither before or after. The reason you might think she has something to say is that you use yourself as kindling to set the erdtree on fire, saving melina, but she doesnt want that because she fears you will become lord of frenzied flame. But with the needle you can save her and avoid that ending. Maybe its a patches situation where they just didnt finish the dialogue for melina, cause for now the needle is just a way to not get locked into that ending

I love how much the Tarnished looks like he enjoys burning everything to ashes. It's almost cathartic, as if this was the first choice he made by his own will in the entire game.
Perhaps after dying to everything that wants to kill the tarnished 1000+ times, it will eventually lead to that sort of resentment.
The Frenzied Flame is known for taking over bodies of its "followers" and using them. I don't think that the ending is us - no head, we're dead. The fully just the Flame happy to release chaos using our dead body as a vessel.

no, no "this is the official plot" dlc. from software has never done a game as far as I can remember where an ending is sanctified as 'canonical' via a dlc sequel, and I hope it stays that way. otherwise it kinda beats the whole point of having such vague stories and multiple endings with lots of bits open to interpretation and diminishes the 'sandbox' and interactivity aspect of the game just to get it closer to the cliched contemporary 'triple A game that is like a movie' title.

So did Maliketh steal Destined Death from her and the Apostles?
@@zeporion6091 no his sister gave it to him
Bout time.
This, or the "mother" she mentions constantly is the "Dusk Eyed Queen" (DEQ). In her dialogue after you inherit the flame she says "I will kill you, as sure as night follows day". The word "dusk" in her name is akin to twilight, or the coming of the night/ending of the day. Could be a reference to her nature. Additionally she mentions "destined death", which is what the DEQ had possession of before her defeat at the hands of Malekith
the godskin apostles worshipped the gloam eyed queen
At every step you've seen how the lands between were dominated.
By Lords and Demi-Gods.
By Deities and Monsters.
By the Erdtree, the Golden Order, and the Greater Will.
The Flame seeks no dominion, it has no ulterior motive. It's only desire is to free the world from its disparity and reunite it together. The Frenzied flame is not kind or gentle, but it may be the farthest from evil you find in the lands between.
i mean fartest is ranni but yea chaos is ` fair`
@@PsychoFreedom Ranni still wants to place the world under dominion, just under the rule of the moon instead of the greater will.
@@mnalghrenn I don't think the world is literally under the dominion of a 'dark moon', I think it's the world coming out of the golden order.
At night there won't be an Erdtree lighting up the sky, just a cold, dark moon and the stars. Which would be why Ranni describes it as a journey through "dear, doubt, and lonliness...", the people won't have their gods with them or literally within their view (the erdtree).
@@mnalghrenn she prefer all `beings` were independent, make a far away order just to observ and have everything going ok.

If you think about it, fire is the most important "discovery" we ever made. Without the flame, there's nothing. Just some mildly intelligent ape like dudes with sticks and stones. The flame changed everything. It kept us warm during the winter. It made lots of food edible. It scared away predators. It allowed us to unlock the secrets of metallurgy. But as you know, with fire came disparity...
The part I find most interesting about the Frenzied Flame ending, is it can be interpreted as a 'good' ending. Specifically by those who have been forsaken by the world, such as the Traveling Merchants who summoned the Frenzied Flame because they were buried alive. Not to mention the people you see hung or crucified throughout the Lands Between. They'd probably want the world to end simply so that no one else has to suffer from the corrupted world they live in.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t they buried *because* they were host to the frenzied flame?
@@ObnoxiousNinja99 no they were buried for heretical beliefs I believe the created the frenzy flame from there burning hatred cursing the lands between. It's also why all merchants are wary of you because the are being hunted down.
@@ObnoxiousNinja99 From what I gathered, they were buried because Shabriri accused them of heresy. They only 'summoned' the Three Fingers because of their extreme despair and lack of hope for themselves. Quote from the 'Nomadic Merchant's Chapeau: "These merchants once thrived as the Great Caravan, but after being accused of heretical beliefs, their entire clan was rounded up and buried alive far underground.
Then, they chanted a curse of despair, and summoned the flame of frenzy."
I believe that the merchants didn't know of the Frenzied Flame, but once they chanted because of their despair, they became afflicted by it.
@@TheWoodWraith thanks for the clarification. I’ve only just begun actively reading item descriptions for lore, so my knowledge is spotty

However, if you get Miquella's needle - you can use the needle, specifically here after beating Dragonlord Placidusax, to essentially undo the inherited Frenzied Flame from the three fingers - which will allow you access to the other endings again. That's about it though.
You don't even need to defeat him to use the needle; just be inside his arena
This has always been my favorite ending in Elden Ring, simply because it represents a total cleansing of all corruption and pain that exists within the Lands Between. A hard reset of the entire world, and one that it desperately needs.
People say that Ranni's ending is better, but is it really? Casting out the influence of all Outer Gods won't suddenly right all the wrongs of the world and make it a more peaceful place. And what about the damage that's already been done? What about the Giants? The Dragons? The nomad caravan that was buried under the ground? Where's the justice for all the things the Greater Will has destroyed, crushed and corrupted in the name of its supposed "order?"
There was certainly a time, ages ago, when the Lands Between were pure and serene. When there was no Erdtree, no demigods, not even an Elden Ring. But that time has passed, the damage has already been done. There is no fixing this world, there is no saving it. It all has to go.
"Those who gave me grapes howled without words. Saying they wished they were never born. Become their lord. Take their torment, despair. Their affliction. Every sin, every curse. And melt it all away. As the Lord of Chaos. No more fractures...no more birth..." - Hyetta
But won’t it all be burnt, forever? I don’t think there’s going to be another version of the lands between after this ending. Hyetta does say there will also be no more births. You aren’t resetting the lands between, you destroying it, forever.
The world left me in the cold, so I burned it down to feel its warmth.
I love how this almost feels like a direct reference to H. P Lovecraft.
The One Being, creator of the universe and architect of time wishes to destroy this current reality, it messed up somewhere, and seeks to initiate a hard reset of existence, start over and fix whatever it's mistake was.
Azathoth, the Demon Sultan, The Blind God was the very first being to ever exist, before time, before space, before life and death there was only him, and all things, every single creature, every single planet, star and galaxy is all just a figment of his imagination as he sleeps and dreams in the center of the cosmos.
And when he wakes up, all will cease to be, it will be as though we never existed to begin with, till next he sleeps again.
???
@@Moody.Smiruai that pretty much sums up the majority of people that read Lovecraft
Actually, Lovecraft never stated we all exist in Azathoth mind. He just said that, when he wakes up, everything will be destroyed (but not because he's dreaming). That is a theory that became "actual" canon, at least for the great majority of the people. Still, it's a cool theory

I think it’s cool to go with this ending after facing the actual Frenzied Lord in the dlc
Honestly I view this ending as canon. For one I personally think it’s the most unique and alternate version of the endings. Not to mention the countless item descriptions which mention the prophets foreseeing their faith ending in flame. And then the whole shit with Melina in the ending which we still aren’t sure about what it exactly means. It’s by far the most open ended ending too, and all in all my favorite of them all. You basically become the chaos god of the world, even if influenced by an outer god, you likely maintain semblance of will as Marika did. The erdtree just becomes a massive version of the frenzy tower in Liurnia, only on a massive scale, spreading the maddening flames across all the lands between
I agree with this as well and Melina before she leaves says she'll find someone else what if Elden ring 2 your character has to kill the lord of frenzied flame aka your character that would be dope imo
Guess you don't know about Ranni's ending?
She basically rights the world and sets it the way it should be.
Life, death, rebirth, the land between is now a part of the normal world and everyone will love, live, and die as we do now.

@@Crusina So she claims. "The way it should be" includes her and the people of the moon at the top of the pile, with all the benefits the Elden Ring granted stripped from the land (along with any hope for humanity to take back their destiny) and you as her knight in an honored position simply because you sold the world. It's no different than being a slave to the Greater Will.
Lots of people take NPCs at their word in a game series full of liars. It's kinda weird. I saw this with Kaathe too, who is also a frequent and known liar, just because they claim to be telling the real truth. Like, that's the first thing any liar will say to get you to follow their will.
@@jacksmith3148 What the actual fuck are you talking about? There is no pyramid. She used the power of the moon, as opposed to the stars like Rennala was aiming for or Radahn did via gravity, to prevent the world for being a chessboard with the few entities with power. Human hasn't got "no hope to take back their destiny"; they never had that in the first place so long as their every whims were being influenced by religions A to Z. Now they can seek their own destiny.
And just in case you actually think she made the world eternally cold or emotionless, that's a mistranslation. She did the literal opposite. Prevented people from being fanatics over random shit like they did throughout the game and kept away the "eternal night".
I'm hoping for a DLC based on this ending.
If becoming the Lord of Frenzied Flame means murdering Torrent and having to face Melina, then I don’t want to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame.

Totally missed opportunity for an epic climactic ending battle between the tarnished and melina. They could have even added it for dlc players who are frenzied flame postgame players
This ending is literally the "I am not in danger, I am the Danger!"
In my first playthrough i became lord of the frenzied flame after melina burned the tree and herself so i never saw her cutscene in the end. That is the true evil ending with no consequences for the evildoings it seems, really enjoy it.
I don’t view it as evil at all. Your other choices are leave the world in the hands of an incompetent god, leave the world in filth and curse, or leave it in the hands of an arrogant puppet/god. In this you leave it to nothing. That and the Greater Will spurned you until it had need of you, then it was all hunky dory. What a crock.

Well thanks to the DLC, we now know what Melina picked up there was Torrent's Spectral Steed Whistle and the cry we hear in the background is Torrent crying out, being consumed by the Frenzied Flame. The DLC did confirm that Frenzied Flame can melt away spirits.
Holy shit. You are the final boss in the next game
Can someone explain what the hell just happened? All I get out of this is that the Tarnished more or less gave the world one giant "fuck you" and more or less became Elden Ring's version of the goddamn Chaos Flame.
Do stuff we're told to do, batshit happens. Fromsoft endings in a nutshell
The Tarnished destroys everything like Surtur and causes a ragnarok like event. last part had the girl with blue eyes so maybe RENNA took over the body after the owner died( left eye is milky white). if i correct seems like RENNA will pick up the (murder you) goal.

In the world of elden ring, "Three fingers "is a bad omen and they sealed it.
And also, unlike Dark souls, fire/flame means destruction & corruption in elden ring.
@@saserdino389 very specifically yellow flames
Three Fingers hugged me and i turned into Ghost Rider
Fun fact if you use Melina as kindling then go to the three fingers she won’t show up in the ending cutscene no destined death for you
Imagine if there was a sekiro-style story based one-build spinoff to hunt down the lord of frenzied flame as Melina
The true chad ending. You tried to save everyone, but the result was the most devastating.
You have lost everything and the world has been destroyed beyond repair. Not the lord at all, but just a madman.
As George R. R. Martin's work has always been, you just remain as another lord contender as Vyke did.
But that's why this ending is an appealing tragedy. Unlike the ending where you only playfully talk to the miniature.
You do become Lord, just not the Lord _they_ wanted you to become.
“This world… It has become stagnant… Already, parts of it have begun to fall victim to rot… I have seen this blighted existence before. And… Fortunately for everyone here.. I know just the solution… When the rot settles in, all one must do. Is look into the fire.. Melina, I hope you can one day forgive me.. Ranni, I’m sorry I let you down… But I must solve this problem before everyone is made to suffer through the pain of decay and rot. Now. As I am destined to do. I shall set fire to this old and dying land! So that from the ashes something new can rise in it’s place!”
That's some interesting speech right there
"The flames does not seek power, nor does it seek control. It wishes to set this land free, and to purge it of the unclean.. As long as I have existed in this world, it has only shown me its plagues, its corrupted, and its rot.. The flame once granted us the truth.. and the strength to keep this world safe.. This world has fallen, and no Elden Lord could ever save it.. Rise my brother, and take your rightful place.. Harness the flame, and feels its familiar warmth.. Together, we will ensure the world is covered in ash.. It will occur again, just as it has before.. A new hope will rise from the ashes of the flame, and together we will shepherd it to greatness.. All of us, my brother.. All of our brothers and sisters who have thrown their lives away for this pointless cause.. We will be.. avenged."
I wish for this ending you could use the frenzied flame as a headpiece, it looks so sick.
This actually the good ending, the Erdtree is a alien parasite plant that was in the meteor that landed so long ago. That things roots are made out of dead people. To grow new trees you need mass sacrifice, like at Castle Mourne.
There’s a dungeon where you fight a Ghost snail under ground. The dungeon is under a Minor Erdtree. So the boss room is where the roots are. And it’s bunch of dead people at the base of the roots. When you hit it, it bleeds.
The moon queen ending is a good ending to. Any ending where the Erdtree is still alive is a bad ending.
Where did you get the info of a meteor landing long ago? i can't remember anything about this honestly.
@@OnyxDeath369 when you look at the 3D map of the world there’s a huge crater, very circular like a meteor crater. In the middle of the whole world, where the Erdtree grows. There’s a 3D map of the game in google images.
And when you get to the upper part of the map where the erdtree is you can fined meteor fragments, and the lore on the fragments mentions a long time ago a meteor fell from the sky before the erdtree was there.
@@DunDunDunDun809 Right. I'm not sure what you mean by 3D but i can see things clearly. Here's a weird thing i found, the description of the 'Root Resin':
"Resin secreted from the roots of the Great tree.
Material used in crafting items.
The roots of the Great tree drive far and wide through the earth of the Lands Between.
They were once entwined with the roots of the Erdtree, or so they say."
The Great Tree is not to be mixed up with the Haligtree, which we get info on from the 'Haligtree Crest Surcoat' :
"The surcoat bears the crest of the Haligtree. Though watered with Miquella's own blood since it was a sapling, the Haligtree ultimately failed to grow into an Erdtree." (I think it failed because Miquella was cursed with being an infant forever)

Melina acting like we didn’t just rune through all of these demigods with great runes. Does she really think she can kill us?
We can see how the world will end if tarnished truly became Lord of Frenzy in Abyssal Woods.

For everyone saying this is the best ending because the world deserves it and stuff like that, you also kill torrent in that ending , your most loyal companion, so yeah …
After watching the dlc of elden ring... this was the CORRECT CHOICE! All demigods were abominations and miquella was griffith.
I always liked to imagine that getting this ending while using a samurai or otherwise character from the Land of Reeds was less of becoming the Lord of Frenzied Flame, and more becoming the embodiment of Shura. Aka, one big Sekiro reference.

ngl this ending gives me goosebumps the way no other ending does... the roaring of the flames as shabriri/the flame takes over your body. The way the frenzied lord basks around as the flames rise is especially chilling; your character never emoted this much, yet seeing this entity show GLEE as it destroys the world is harrowing. You aren't the tarnished anymore, this is no longer your story: you were merely a vessel for the primeval form of chaos. You don't get to stay alive as the flames ruin the world, you died the moment you touched Marika. At least with the dung eater ending, there's a glimmer of hope: everyone being eternally "cursed" isn't as big of a downside as there not being a world to live in, but this is just true chaos. 10/10 for giving us the option of a TRULY bad ending

Do Millicent's questline, find malenia, beat her, get miquella's needle, then go to dragonlord and use the needle before the bossfight. You'll be able to opt out of the ending.

I think the ring Melina picks up is the Spectral Steed Ring which is all that she could find of the Tarnished she once knew and trusted… at least for now!
In my head, when she picks up the ring, she remembers granting the strength of runes, the companionship and of course gifting Torrent… only for the Tarnished to betray her despite pleading with them repeatedly to stay away from the Three Fingers and the Frenzied Flame.
Just my two cents :)

You wanna know the funny thing? I don’t think you actually become the “lord of frenzied flame”, I think the three fingers kill you, then takes over your body. If that’s what happens, then you truly gain nothing, and lose everything. It makes perfect sense in my mind, your character screams and falls down, then when it gets back up, the head is replaced by a circle of flame, I truly believe that the tarnished is completely gone, in this ending. That is why I hold to my belief that this is not only the worst ending in terms of morality, but also is just the worst ending in general.
I mean wasnt the point to burn everything and make it one so everything can be without suffering? So it wouldnt be to bad for the character if he was ready to do all of that
@@xeibei4804 Perhaps, but regardless of the end goal, the burn itself clearly caused a lot of suffering itself. Something it was supposed to end. It’s ironic that the idea the flame has of ending suffering, is to cause one final great suffering before it truly ends. Seems a little contradictory to me.
