I hope everyone enjoyed the unsettling tone we went for to match the horror of this quest line. Vaati and I want to make each installment in this series stand apart from the rest, both visually and thematically, and I think we definitely accomplished that for this one. Can’t wait to keep evolving the series, thanks for watching!
The sheer emotion of Kale's voice actor in his cut-content ending was just incredible. Really wish From had kept that in. Wow, what an emotional video.
Nabil Elouahabi (Kale's VA) has excellent VA skills. He also voices Cypher from Valorant, and Cypher is considered one of the best voiced characters there.
I really wish we got his quest in the game, it would make doing the frenzy flame ending actually emotionally compelling instead of just "kill everyone". Personally, I do the frenzied flame ending as justice for the merchants, makes me sad we didn't get this questline
Kalé's story is the most heavy hitting out of all of them. I wish it wasn't cut. Kalé's lines when he finds out what happened to his people, it's just heartbreaking
@@silent7759 Yep the red hat merchant within the church just north of the first Tree Sentinel! Not sure why it was cut :( I am fascinated with the frenzied flame side of things.
I think they cut it because somebody was scared of how much it would inspire anti-vaxxers and those who have been beaten, locked up and shunned to stand up against the oppressive governments. The traveling merchants are the truckers that protested and fought against the oppression of the governments of the world. The great caravan is the hope. They lost everything, jobs, savings, bank accounts, loved ones because of the mandates imposed by tyrannical governments during the pandemic.
Something I’ve noticed about the Frenzied Flame: It’s always the well intentioned who are targeted by it. Whether it be Vyke, the closest friend of Lansseax who succumbed for his maiden, Kale and the Merchants, a simple people who the Erdtree thought to strike down, Hyetta who simply wished to complete her pilgrimage to Leyndell… or you. A Tarnished who wished to save the life of the first companion to show them kindness. The Frenzied Flame targets the innocent, the kind, and therefore the vulnerable. There’s some exception but that’s generally the case.
@@aspectparadox6654 What'd he do again? I beat the DLC and looked at the descriptions of all the items I found, but I don't remember much about him beyond he messed with frenzy and got stabbed with the sword by hornsent inquisitors.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem We’re not exactly sure WHY he sought the Frenzied Flame, but what we do know that after he took it, his Wife convinced him to not use it’s cursed power, and he obliged, promising to never use it. Hence why he asks his Wife for forgiveness before pulling out the sword.
My three favorite things about the Vyke duel: 1. The Dual estus chug 2. The Tarnished's helmet breaking and revealing his face to be the mirror of Edgar, much like Hyetta and Irina 3. Vyke straight up tanking the giant boulder like the gigachad he is

@@nickh3279 I feel given that fromsoft tends to add cut content back with DLC it's possible, I feel they probably cut his quest line because they felt it be to much for the base game. I really do hope either it gets added and finished completely or they add it and slightly alter it to better fit the narrative they want. If we do get the DLC and it say takes place in the past or future it could work well by having him seek it out then rather than now. In general I'm sure the DLC will add a lot of content that even if we don't get kale will probably surprass it granted i adore the kale content and the fact it was so close to seemingly being finished I feel it's more likely but obviously just speculation
21:08 the way Kale said " They're hardly human anymore." You can hear the pain in his voice how he found his people. Powerful storyline and powerful voice acting.
The frenzied flame quest was one of the biggest twist in elden ring i found a frenzy afflicted village with a cool spell and it turns out to be the beginning to an ending
That's what I love so much about soul's/bloodbourne/elden rings story telling if you pay attention you will slowly uncover the story yourself bit by bit it doesn't hand feed the story to you, you have to play detective and find it yourself.
That little village near Morne castle was also so intriguing for me, I went and followed its trail and ended up Frenzied lord while 4 of my friend just made like everyone and became Ranni's simps
@@WokeandProud And that's exactly why I hate any Souls game, story should be handed to you instead of playing detective and finding the story yourself
Literally me, I explored the catacombs because they're there, and I got the Flame just by following instructions by other players messages. Got kinda pissed when I read up on it and found out I have to fight a late-game optional boss to get rid of it.
"Divest yourself of everything" that line and the hopelessness and sadness and acceptance is so eerie and appropriate for the situation Kale finds himself in. It's masterful stuff (cut content)
My reason why i cull all merchants now since i learnt their past, fuck having a world of chaos flame, constant torture and burning, so i always roleplay now apart from the actual chaos ending, to kill anyone one with an ounce of frenzied flame within them
@@RealKingCrabgonII I think it would be amazing if the DLC added a bunch of these quests back into the game in some form... Even if they didn't though I'd still be happy just knowing it existed even as cut content.
Reminds me of the literal forces of Chaos from 40K. Although there chaos is more self-perpetuating cruelty and despair while here it looks more like Omnicidal suicide from the despair of the Lands Between.
I'm desperately hoping that alongside the DLC bringing standalone postgame content, they'll use the opportunity to flesh out those areas of the game that weren't quite finished on time. Specifically: - The cut merchant's questline (provides a LOT of necessary context to 3 Fingers) - The Recusant faction (it deserves its own ending!) - The Dynasty of Blood (currently we only ever meet one dude from this "faction") - The cut mimic questline (that fleshes out Nokron) I ALSO wouldn't mind if they updated a few of the more common copy-paste bosses and enemies to make their variants more unique and memorable...
"This project became too big and we don't have time to spend on 4/5 of the endings that aren't about Ranni. Leave it in the source code so VaatiVidya can make it understandable to people a few years after release." -Miyazaki (fo' sho')
the sheer amount of cut contents makes you wonder how this game was released at all... if it would need one thing that would indeed be more quests outside of the legacy dungeons to fill the world with contents.
@@SlowSpeedChase13 Same as always with every studio: they bitted more than they could chew. The game is amazing, but it becomes painfully clear that they ran out of time, half of it is very empty.
Well, it resulted in (effectively) an entire people and culture being genocided. What the Dung Eater does is absolutely evil, but what Shabriri did is on a whole other level beyond.
The difference between Shabriri's madly gleeful cries versus Kale's soft broken "May Chaos Take The World. May Chaos Take The World." is Staggering. Shabriri threw himself merrily into the Frenzied Flame, while Kale is just weary and so very tired.

"Madness belongs to those that have lost everything". What a line! Man, it's been almost a year and it still pulls me back to this video. Thanks Vaati for creating this absolute gem, better than any I have seen in recent memory.
Some lore notes: A lot of Kale's questline and dialogue in this video is featured in cut content. The same goes for Vyke. That's why you didn't experience these stories in-game! SekiroDubi on RUclips has a good breakdown of Kale & Vyke's cut content. There's a lot of room for interpretation on Vyke's character, and this is my take on him. Yours may be different. There was a LOT planned for his character before it was cut/changed for the final game. And since a lot of people will ask "how do you know Vyke had two great runes" - Enia says "only once before have I seen two Great Runes together", and the Fingerprint Armor makes it clear that "No other Tarnished was closer to the throne of the Elden Lord than Vyke". Thus, he probably had the two great runes. As for which runes - remember that there are other Great Runes out there. Ranni's for example, Miquella's..I guess it's possible he possessed some unknown Great Runes? As for whether Hyetta "took over" Irina's body..well - the two characters share the exact same model, the same voice actress, and Hyetta can only be encountered after talking to Irina. It's true that Irina's body remains after Hyetta continues on - but I personally put that down to a developer oversight more than anything else. Don't forget - Shabriri takes over Yura's body as well. This is a frenzy-flame thing, it seems. Yura doesn't actually support you in-game near Edgar the Revenger - but I needed to incorporate Yura into the story because he appears later, so this was the best way to do it. Edgar also doesn't use frenzy spells in-game, but he DOES drop a shabriri grape, and there is a phantom that talks about frenzy right next to Edgar's shack. Prepare to Cry has always been about my interpretation of the story told cinematically, so please forgive and embrace these takes, and keep them separate from your own interpretation of the lore!
My biggest issue with stories in FromSoft games is that we're supposed to piece out the plot by looking at content they weren't able to finish and include in the game itself
It's really cool how this line of the story ties in together with the game. Vyke was supposed to be the next Elden Lord, he's seen on the cover of the game, he was powerful enough to gain 2 Great Runes before being embraced by the 3 fingers and thrown in a gaol, and he represents a character that acted selflessly and righteously to not murder a maiden for his own gain. He's the player before the player is the player. xD

I never noticed that those poor wretches in the descent into the flame had those same damn instruments that the merchants have. Shivered at that revelation.
There's also a rhythm playing while you are there that's called merchant violin,if you search accordingly you will find a still alive merchant that plays the rhythm ,scary and sad at the same time
me neither. I was like "oh cool, creepy dungeon with lots of bodies" and just kept on exploring merrily. Never even noticed the obvious connection until today.
‘Love is the end of duty’ Vyke certainly had a true bond with his maiden, a bond stronger than duty itself, stronger than the title of Lord. You must have heard people saying ‘a hero will sacrifice you to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save you’, Vyke tossed aside his ambitions and destiny itself to remain with his beloved, but unfortunately she passed, so now he’s just the embodiment of regret, grief, and vengeance. Truly an underrated character.
I respect and understand him, so I choose to accepting FrenzyFlame to save Melina and burn the Erdtree then find the golden needle. Whatever Order I choose, this is the most perfect questline, I think. I think Melina's feelings are subtle and secluded in front of her destiny.
@@fabiangersemi9557 not Death but conjoined like all things should be. Anyway, you can use the golden needle to get another needle that rejects the call of the frenzy flame so you can get another ending.
That merchant's song in game was so haunting yet entrancing, hearing it expanded upon and redone was such a strange emotional catharsis, like their pain was easier to understand. Masterpiece of a video.

shabriri is such a fascinating and truly sinister character. To think that all he had to do was lie enough times, create enough slander, that people would hopelessly embrace the frenzied flame out of desperation. To circumvent the pain and suffering that his lie had caused. This god that was using shabriri as its host/emissary the entire time, Tricked the entire world into condemning itself for a crime it didn't actually commit. Until you, that is. powerful writing.
Turns out the Greater Will thrives on the Cycle of Vengeance, and has since splitting into the Golden Order and blessing Marika. "What was borrowed, must be returned." This god thrives on hate and vengeful thinking. It turns curses into raw energy. No wonder the Dung Eater was able to create Seedbed Curses... he was the only one who understood the Erdtree's true nature. It's watered with blood spilt in anger.
@@NotAGoodUsername360 Reminds me of a character from Martins novels. "when men see my sails, they pray." The priest raised a bony finger. After playing over 6 playthroughs I firmly believe the frenzied flame ending is the coolest one. It's Greek tragedy at it's finest, the hero that became the villain because it was the only way of saving the girl, and in doing so did what she hated the most, pushing her to become the hero of her own story and hunting down he who saved her, killed her past, destructive purpose by becoming her new, sadder one. Insane.
@cool dude I honestly feel this could have been achieved with something as simple as making Melina appear every time we wanted to level up. In fact, that is what made the Firekeeper so important in fan's hearts in Dark Souls III. Something as simple as hearing those whispers every time while leveling up would have given us way more intimacy with the character. All and all, a lost opportunity if you ask me.

"what better existence is there than none at all" that is the only emotion i feel when i hear those last lines from Kale's dialogue. God what incredible content to be left out.
Feels like it was cut for being too close to social commentary. A broken system, with elites going to war and squandering what's left at the expense of everyone else? And a faction who knows that what's wrong with the system is baked into its very foundation, and seeks to burn it all down?
Existence is always worth experiencing no matter how bad things may seem. Some people may ask what the point of life is but it's not about the destination in life its about the journey along the way. It's about the places we visit and the people we see. There is no solid answer to the point of life because it's a different experience for everyone. So with all that said my question is why would anyone want to destroy all that distinguishes when that could very well be the reason to live.

The Frenzied Flame belongs to those who have lost everything. Even their questline. It's sort of fitting for Kale's quest to be cut, in that way. Shame as it is.
Fromsoft could never get their priorities straight. It's just another sad display of mismanagement. Such an important aspect of the world and they basically cut lots of important things. The Kale bit is beautiful. But my favorite part is the cutaways during Shabriri's speech through Yura. The Priest Shabriri just standing there, Smiling. Then the same man, still smiling, drenched in blood. So good.
The cinematography in these videos has become amazing. Vaati has always been an incredible producer and I've enjoyed his work for almost a decade now, but his Elden Ring content is truly spectacular. Big regards to his team as well. The production value has gone through the roof the last months.
Also, I love how the theme of eyes is very prominent when talking about the Frenzyed Flame and also in vengeance with "an eye for an eye, and the whole world goes blind" is so beautiful and poetic
I think this is why we only get 1 shabriri grape from any given source, because they've lost an eye and are seeking vengence so now they only have 1 eye left to take.
24:00 this line from Kale hits like a truck, especially after hearing the same litany from Yura/Shabriri. Shabriri roars it like a rallying cry, like a mad man who delights in the idea of 'chaos taking the world'. He shouts it like a zealot for a faith he does not comprehend. Kale here doesn't make it sound like a rallying cry, not like a zealot, but like a very tired, broken man who just wants it all to be *over* for everyone's sake. He knows that the flame will mean the end of this world, and basically raises his glass and says 'be done with it then.' Amazing storytelling from you guys in this scene.
Old, broken bodies, fallen to grief, or anger, or pain, revitalized and aided by an unknown entity for the sake of bringing about the end of the world. It's a sad, selfish existence, to serve the Frenzied Flame. To think that your misery and pain justifies the erasure of the joy and happiness of who knows how many others. To wallow in your own craven lust for destruction.
It kind of reminds me of one of the scenes in “Ghost of Tsushima” between Jin and Masako: Jin: “So you tried to kill me?! Have you lost your mind?!” Masako: “I have lost everything!!” Jin: “No. You’ve sacrificed everything. For revenge.” Masako: “And what do you feel when you think of Ryuzo?” Jin: “We can’t let anger consume us. Or blind us to our friends.” Seeking vengeance out of anger, righteous or not, only brings pain to everyone he who seeks vengeance touches.

Probably good to take some time making a couple smaller videos to rest a little and gear up for making another collaborative epic like this video was. There's plenty of smaller curiosities in the world of Elden Ring to explore, but seeing this, I can help but feel there are a lot of other concepts and stories that deserve to be given the same kind of treatment to really do them justice.
The hammer hitting the anvil and the beats dropping in. Lovely! Can’t believe this game had so much emotions in it which I couldn’t see because of ‘You died’
Melina's quote about there still being beauty in this tormented world over the shot of the little jars made me emotional :') even though supposedly those jars are filled with corpses lmao
Regardless of them being filled with corpse and gore.. If you read the the Companion Jar Talisman item description it says, "Though the jars are brought to life by human flesh and blood, they are all rather kindly folk. Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards." they are not defined of their grotesque contents but perhaps like the description tells, they are kind creatures... They were made to be better than their insides, in other words the humans/people that brought them to life.
This video was a masterpiece. It is pretty interesting that the “counter” to madness is sleep, being that the icons for madness and sleep are the same just open eye or closed eye. Makes me wonder if Melina’s other eye opening after the frenzy ending is an awakening of her true power to quiet the madness with forced sleep/death. I hope a future dlc develops this story deeper
That could further the theory that she’s the gloam eyed queen as the godskins are weak to sleep so maybe that’s how she gained power over them and turned them into her followers
See, stuff like this is incredible, that even tiny details all add up, even in interpretations by each player. I hadn't even thought of that, which rounds out theories of the Gloam Eyed Queen and the Godskins, who are weak to sleep. God this game and its lore masters are awesome.
Shaun Dooley voicing yura/shabriri is absolutely incredible, this is the best ending in the game and the lore is fantastic, seeing all the merchants after killing mohg is breathtaking
“An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind” That quote is something I never thought of before, and it surprises me how much it applies to the world, both the Lands Between and our own. All of this revenge, and war, leads to us becoming more and more blind, until none of us will ever see again
It’s in one of the ASOIAF books as well, can’t remember where. You see a lot of GRRM’s influence in the themes of some these characters, and of the world itself. Degradation, decay and destruction. The death of heroes, and an age of wonder and terror. Very, very George.
“They think we worship the three fingers. That *we* called the maddening sickness down upon them. Well if that’s what they expect from us, then that’s what they shall get from us!” I’m so angry this didn’t make it into the base game. Kale has so much good dialogue about his people, and it’s filled with so much emotion. He goes from a wandering spirit with curiosities about his ancestors and their legends, to someone completely consumed by his desire for revenge, enough to let the whole world burn away to avenge it. Hyetta’s quest is alright, but it doesn’t carry what Kale’s does. For me at least, she’s essentially just an NPC that gives you the frenzied flame seal, and no actual decent reason to inherit the flame itself. Kale makes you want to burn down the lands between just as much as he does.
Yeah, the reprise of, "May chaos take the world," was so well delivered. It feels like they removed one of the more poignant questlines of the game by cutting Kale's story. I'm happy to see it brought to life here in some form at least, but it's a shame that the devs cut it for whatever reason.
@@ShredPerspectivesWorks I play on ps5 so that’s not really an option for me. Vaati did get those lines from a guy who datamined them and put them back into the game though.

The storytelling and cinematography is on a whole new level - I have no idea how you have pulled off these shots - the rack focus, the timing and audio cues Wow!
This video was incredibly done, but my favorite part about this ending wasn't shown, that is how hard to get to the 3 fingers is. Not only is is very hard to get to the sewers, then traversing through the pipes, to that huge elevator to Mohg's bossfight and the seal left by Morgott. Shows the incredible lenghts that the adherents of the Golden Order went to to hide the merchants and the frenzied flame, and I think that is some great enviromental storytelling, the "show not tell" that From is so good at
Does anyone understand what's up with the three fingers? Is there any meaning behind it? How are they connected to the two fingers, I thought the Frenzied Flame is basically just another "will" or godly entity from another world/universe/sphere, just like "the Moon", the Two fingers or the God of Rot?
Ooof, that cinematography of the Misbegotten and Irena adds so much, such a “bomb under the table” moment, (even if such events aren’t viewable in game). You’ve put down yourself Vaati.

It could also make sense why there is a spirit version we fight in the church of inhibition which could be a shade of the past, the vyke who was saddened by the loss of his maiden, filled with anger and hatred against himself and also having just inherited the flame of frenzy. Truly a tragic character, even more so if this is true.
His armor is actually singed in a way that seems to suggest he changed his mind and tried to turn away before the fingers grabbed him. He had his armor on too, which protected him somewhat, so that only one of his eyes got infected by the flame of frenzy. Which he then removed. That's the fingerprint grape you pick up
I think he exists in two realms. He captured himself in the Evergaol and that was the good version of himself that was respected by the dragons and kind to his maiden. However, his frenzied self existed as a dark spirit haunting his maiden's resting place and that version of himself does use frenzy magics.
I come back to this video more often than I'd care to admit. It's so incredibly well done. I'm gonna have to mod back in Kale's quest and do a Flame of Frenzy ending when I'm in a particularly dejected mood.
You know... I can imagine the merchants, buried down there, despairing over their fate, trying to find a way out. Then one of them suggest the unthinkable. They all fell silent before arguing, perhaps even fighting. In the end, they silently took their fiddles, put their bows on the string, and, slowly counted to three in their heads. And played. And played, played, played, played... Until one of them started screaming.
That sounds oddly beautiful and unsettling. Like the citizens above hear distant screams that just stops then it’s slow solemn music that after days becomes more and more frenzied till it stops abruptly.

Not going to lie the fight with vyke was one of the most masterfully choreographed and cinematic fight scenes I’ve ever seen gave me goosebumps I think if miyazaki saw this video he would be incredibly proud, well done vaati and team another masterpiece 👍 edit:thanks for all the likes guys I love vykes character and lore one of my favourite npcs and that fight was just pure eye candy to me haha
I have been binging your content for a week now as I’m playing Elden ring again in preparation for the DLC. The amount of work that goes into your videos really shines as they are absolutely amazing. Bravo, you have an amazing production and it is appreciated.
I really wish they left Kale in the three fingers questline. His voicelines are too good to go to waste, and I hope that one day someone can add a mod to remedy this deep injustice.
I hope one day they release a director's cut of the game or something like that. In the base game, the NPC quest feel pretty lackluster and half-baked for the most part, and realizing that there were so many more quests that got abruptly cut adds insult to injury there. I feel like re-adding all of the NPC cut content would add so much more richness and depth to the world.
the way this ending subtly recontextualizes the Tarnished of No Renown in relation to the enemies after they inherit the Flame of Frenzy amazes me. Suddenly, all of the endgame bosses go from sort of "villains" to people trying desperately to stop the Lord of Frenzied Flame. You really do become the villain the moment the three fingers clasp you
Mid ending. Frenzied Flame is a weak escape, you could have the power to change the world, cause your Will was greater than everyone, even that of the Greater Will, you are literally the chosen one to change everything and improve it.
This truly was a magnificent episode, the lore, atmosphere, choreography of the fighting scenes and the delivery of it all is absolutely worth the tears. This has got to be the best video you've ever made.
It never even occurred to me that they were the merchants. Went completely over my head. Mainly because I was just trying not to die *this time* getting through that area lol.
this is the 3rd video ive seen and the work that has gone into them is astaunding. I loved the fight with vyke in the evergaol that was cool. And i must say as long as these videos are they are truely amazing and definately worth the time. You almost forget that its just a youtube video because the story and its narration, the sounds, visuals the cinematography is perfect. Another awesome spectacle, massive shoutout to you and and everyone who worked with you to make it.
Production value on these is through the roof!!! Also Shabriri's voice actor when he's yelling "MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD" is insane at what he does, chills all over.
Oh. My. God. This is it. This is my absolute favorite souls-lore video of all time. Not only does this focus on one of the most interesting and mysterious aspects of Elden Ring, but it brings to light so many incredible parts. The backstory of the merchants, the tale of Vyke (one of my new favorite characters), Shabriri's origin, etc. The music is absolutely perfect. There's so many little, incredible details, like the dragon death-roar when Vyke is defeated (16:49), to the main character changing clothing depending on the scene, to the perfect face for Shabriri. The music, the tone, the editing, the cinematography. Absolute perfection from start to finish.
What's so interesting to me is that even if you purge the flame of frenzy from your body with the needle, Melina won't forgive you. It's not just that she scorns you for playing with the world ending fire, it's also that you've taken from her the very meaning of her existence. Her mother, that woman who lived in the erdtree (you know the one), told her she had been born to burn the erdtree. And even if she gets to live, if you can call a bodiless burned spirit incapable of independent movement living, she won't forgive you for taking away her purpose, her destiny, and her chance to die. Shabriri, famous liar, tells you that you can spare Melina. He tells you that he has been given this body willingly. Can you trust him on either account?
Honestly that gives way more context with Melina going after the player - I remember the memes players made where Melina says she'll kill us when while we're a "lvl 250 badass" or whatever but given that her destiny is to die to fire, going after the Lord of Frenzied Flame may just be the last way she'll get that chance.
@@HappyMealPlusTax When she comes back after you kill Morgott she says she talked to her mother inside the Erdtree. There's only one person inside the Erdtree.
Eh I can live with that, she can be as mad and alive as she wants to be. Congratulations lady you’re now just like the rest of us struggling for meaning and reason to exist boo hoo .
And even with those lies told to us it is still the best choice one can make. The world was full of chaos, hate, suffering even before shabriri, for whom you need to ascend to be the Elden Lord, when even those who are closest to you will die no matter what you do. This is the only way how to not create sickening circle of events like in Dark Souls.
This is hands down one of the best RUclips videos I’ve ever seen. It’s also the only time I’ve 100% understood an Elden Ring lore video. The visual story telling here was so insanely good
It's because Shabiri, as far as we know, is just "I'll worship the end of everything because i read about Nihilism once" while Kale's comes from the realization that the world has suffering, and the beauty does not compensate it at all.
I just now realized that in the ending cutscene with Melina, she picks up the ring we use to summon torrent. Also explains the whistling we hear as she kneels down to pick it up. I'm probably just slow to realize it but figured it was worth a mention.
It's so moving. He knows what is going to happen... and he desperately wants it, despite knowing the horrors that will follow. Such an awesome delivery from the VA.
It needs to be mentioned, but my god. The choreography for that Vyke fight was absolutely incredible! You've been throwing together an amazing team, Vaati. The improvements to your content are NOT going unnoticed, press on you amazing story-teller.
I seriously cannot fathom just how evil Shabriri must be. All villains in all stories have light sides, and few of them are wholly evii. Except Shabriri.
i dont really see how combining everyone back into the primordial soup is considered evil in fact if that happened there wouldnt even be a concept of pain.
@@jackvancekirkland Dung Eater is driven by vendetta towards the Golden Order, at least that's what he says to justify his defilements, over what they have done to the Crucible/Great Tree
So, Shabriri accused the Caravan in order to get them punished, causing enough simultaneous pain and sorrow to summon the flame of frenzy? Pretty interesting theory!
I think they summoned the flame on purpose after they were sealed deep underground, to spite those who believed the lie, and to make it the truth. Although I have to wonder, whether perhaps Shabriri manipulated them into doing it.
@@aSSGoblin1488 while you can't inflict madness on anyone but other Tarnished, the Frenzied Flame spells are very very good. The Flame of Frenzy incantation is excellent at breaking poise. Charge it up and let it fly in big slow bosses and you'll be knocking them down left and right. 2 charges knocks down golems. It's also superb against groups of enemies. Frenzied Burst is probably the fastest traveling and longest range incantation in the game. It also does a shitload of damage with a good casting build. It's basically a sniper rifle, I two shot cleanrot knights at the haligtree with it. Unendurable Frenzy is like the Flame of Frenzy, except it doesn't break poise and lasts longer. Great against groups and can be used while moving.
No! Not shorter! This was amazing. These are the "cut scenes" that are missing from elden ring that tell the story of all these characters. I learned so much watching this and have a new appreciation for the depth of these characters. So much of this I missed during my play through. I hope you keep making content to this degree for as long as you are able. Amazing work. Excited to see what else is to come!
@@portalmanHUN yes, but they're not shown in a cinema graphic sort of way. You just stand there and listen to the dialogue. This made it more like a short film, which was significantly more entertaining and I never bothered doing a lot of this quest line. So I enjoyed this very much.
Funnily enough, Yuura was the one and only NPC I killed in the story, right near the beginning. For his katana. And until I watched lore video I was convinced that Shabriri simply takes the form of the first friendly NPC you murder in the game as a sign of your growing madness.
It’s so well done, Vaati. You’ve come such a long way and really mastered the art of creating cinematic story videos for these amazing games. The traveling merchants are the truckers that protested and fought against the oppression of the governments of the world. The great caravan is the hope. They lost everything, jobs, savings, bank accounts, loved ones because of the mandates imposed by tyrannical governments during the pandemic.
Honestly, seeing so much bleakness in the world during my first play-through, I genuinely thought this felt like the kindest option - like putting a dying animal to rest, rather than watching it suffer. I played blind, and am now aware of much more (prefer some other endings outcomes with that new info), but from the perspective I got playing through, it felt like a choice between various powers which all had their pros and cons, or to wipe the slate completely clean with the flame of frenzy. Bye-bye suffering-powered pocket-dimension.
It's less of wiping the slate completely clean, and more of destroying the slate. Something people (not necessarily you) often seem to forget is that the Frenzied Flame ending is not a chance at redemption. It's not a cure of the worlds' ailments. It is *not* a restoration of the world to its beginnings so that it may be better this time. It is a *complete*, thorough cleansing of *everything*. It is a world of ash, without the slightest hint of life or elements. It is pure, undiluted destruction of everything out of vengeance and spite at a world that has wronged many.
This is probably by far my favorite lore video you've put out Vaati. The setting, the pacing, the storytelling, the fight scenes, and the music... It's all so hauntingly beautiful... I've been watching since Dark Souls 1 and this video is peek cinema. I can't help it, I just keep coming back to rewatch it. MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!❤️🔥
I hope everyone enjoyed the unsettling tone we went for to match the horror of this quest line. Vaati and I want to make each installment in this series stand apart from the rest, both visually and thematically, and I think we definitely accomplished that for this one. Can’t wait to keep evolving the series, thanks for watching!
This fucks, keep up the good work. FromSoft should hire y'all to direct some scenes in their future games. Just straight up amazing cinematography.

The sheer emotion of Kale's voice actor in his cut-content ending was just incredible. Really wish From had kept that in. Wow, what an emotional video.
That 'THEN THAT'S WHAT THEY SHALL GET FROM US" line was so good it deserved this entire video built around that climax, hah. Totally agree
Something I’ve noticed, pretty much ALL of the voice actors did such a tremendous job.

Something I’ve noticed about the Frenzied Flame:
It’s always the well intentioned who are targeted by it.
And now Midra

"Madness belongs to those that have lost everything". What a line! Man, it's been almost a year and it still pulls me back to this video. Thanks Vaati for creating this absolute gem, better than any I have seen in recent memory.
Some lore notes:
A lot of Kale's questline and dialogue in this video is featured in cut content.
Hi
My biggest issue with stories in FromSoft games is that we're supposed to piece out the plot by looking at content they weren't able to finish and include in the game itself
Had a feeling you'd include that when I saw Kale
I know FromSoft has vague storytelling in the games but people shouldn’t datamine cut content to piece together critical plot elements
I always thought because Vyke wore his armor he went insane. Instead of inheriting the flame. Killed his own maiden and then got locked in the Gaol.
He's the player before the player is the player. xD

After playing over 6 playthroughs I firmly believe the frenzied flame ending is the coolest one. Insane.
All I'm gonna say is no other school of spells looks as downright badass as the chaos school.
@cool dude I honestly feel this could have been achieved with something as simple as making Melina appear every time we wanted to level up.

“I have endured… more than enough…”
Also, I love how the theme of eyes is very prominent when talking about the Frenzyed Flame and also in vengeance with "an eye for an eye, and the whole world goes blind" is so beautiful and poetic
Ah, this is epic!
Also the 'descent into madness' as we made our climb downwards to see the 3 fingers. Just sheer poetic genius!!
I think this is why we only get 1 shabriri grape from any given source, because they've lost an eye and are seeking vengence so now they only have 1 eye left to take.
Phenomenal line honestly
24:00 this line from Kale hits like a truck, especially after hearing the same litany from Yura/Shabriri. Shabriri roars it like a rallying cry, like a mad man who delights in the idea of 'chaos taking the world'. He shouts it like a zealot for a faith he does not comprehend. Kale here doesn't make it sound like a rallying cry, not like a zealot, but like a very tired, broken man who just wants it all to be *over* for everyone's sake. He knows that the flame will mean the end of this world, and basically raises his glass and says 'be done with it then.'
Amazing storytelling from you guys in this scene.
Virgin Frenzied Flame: "Reject life!"
The gigachad: "No."
It kind of reminds me of one of the scenes in “Ghost of Tsushima” between Jin and Masako:
Jin: “So you tried to kill me?! Have you lost your mind?!”
Masako: “I have lost everything!!”
Jin: “No. You’ve sacrificed everything. For revenge.”
Masako: “And what do you feel when you think of Ryuzo?”
Jin: “We can’t let anger consume us. Or blind us to our friends.”
Seeking vengeance out of anger, righteous or not, only brings pain to everyone he who seeks vengeance touches.

“An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind”
That quote is something I never thought of before, and it surprises me how much it applies to the world, both the Lands Between and our own. All of this revenge, and war, leads to us becoming more and more blind, until none of us will ever see again
Eye for an eye leaves one man with an eye. The one eyed man is king. The metaphor is crap.

It’s in one of the ASOIAF books as well, can’t remember where. You see a lot of GRRM’s influence in the themes of some these characters, and of the world itself. Degradation, decay and destruction. The death of heroes, and an age of wonder and terror. Very, very George.

One thing I find interesting is that in the fight with the actual vyke in the evergaol, he never uses the frenzy incantations, only the dragon cult incants. It seems to me that Vyke wasn't corrupted by the flame of frenzy or never intended to become the frenzied lord and only to use it to burn the thorns of the erdtree. However, unbeknownst to his maiden who thought he betrayed her, she commits suicide.
That's the fingerprint grape you pick up
I wonder if he imprisoned himself in that evergaol, to save the world from the flame he now carried.
I think he exists in two realms. He captured himself in the Evergaol and that was the good version of himself that was respected by the dragons and kind to his maiden. However, his frenzied self existed as a dark spirit haunting his maiden's resting place and that version of himself does use frenzy magics.

@@silcrow4045 Lots of almost finished quests in this game that should have seen the light of day.
@@HolybasilYT ikr. Infuriating
the way this ending subtly recontextualizes the Tarnished of No Renown in relation to the enemies after they inherit the Flame of Frenzy amazes me.
However, you can use Miquella's needle to stop it, and merely use the Flame of Frenzy to save Melina.
Cool copy pasta, bro
@@juanlaise1059 Lol. I did that today. Ended up going for the Age of Stars ending
That's what I'm doing!
Oh. My. Lord.
I can't stress enough just how amazing this is. Everything from the fight scenes to the storytelling to the effects. I love it.
Bravo.
The production quality on this video is INSANE. Straight up feels like a cinematic experience
It's because 70% of it was just the game's cutscene
This truly was a magnificent episode, the lore, atmosphere, choreography of the fighting scenes and the delivery of it all is absolutely worth the tears. This has got to be the best video you've ever made.
agreed 100%
It's crazy how melancholic and beautiful the merchant violin song is
especially considering the context behind the area you hear it in
Indeed
Agreed. I love all of his videos, but this one is on another level
Honestly that gives way more context with Melina going after the player - I remember the memes players made where Melina says she'll kill us when while we're a "lvl 250 badass" or whatever but given that her destiny is to die to fire, going after the Lord of Frenzied Flame may just be the last way she'll get that chance.
who is melina's mom? Marika?
The frenzied flame is so fascinating to me I have watched your videos on it so many times since the game's release, you are really the best
The cinematography and fight choreography in this one was truly next-level, it's like machinima as a work of art. Well done, Vaati
Loving the new production style, this is next level. It’s pretty much Souls machinima at this point.
Came down specifically to say this. Standout.
That praise the sun emote after kale’s impassioned speech gave me chills.
This is hands down one of the best RUclips videos I’ve ever seen. It’s also the only time I’ve 100% understood an Elden Ring lore video. The visual story telling here was so insanely good
Shabiri: "May chaos take the world"
Me: "meh, cringe"
Kale: "May chaos take the world"
Me: "AT ONCE MY KING!"
😂
Lmao 😂😭
💀💀
It's because Shabiri, as far as we know, is just "I'll worship the end of everything because i read about Nihilism once" while Kale's comes from the realization that the world has suffering, and the beauty does not compensate it at all.
He sells me my throwing knives dude, I have to do what he says
I just now realized that in the ending cutscene with Melina, she picks up the ring we use to summon torrent. Also explains the whistling we hear as she kneels down to pick it up. I'm probably just slow to realize it but figured it was worth a mention.
That fight scene with Vyke was absolutely superb. Hats off to everyone who made this, simply amazing!
It was some straight anime shit ;D lol.
that's what i WISH Elden Ring PvP was like. Instead we get everyone pushing for glass cannons that just kill the opponent in 2 hits, it's boring.
I found that pretty cheesy and only part i didnt like/skipped
@@OrionTheAussie yeah honestly the part where he started shooting out lighting from his hand was kinda stupid
@@declicitous1763 But that's literally a spell in the game.
That fight sequence with Vyke was well done. For an in-game fight sequence, felt very cinematic. 👏🏽
22:29 when Kale says "Divest yourself of everything" is incredibly chilling. I love it
It's so moving. He knows what is going to happen... and he desperately wants it, despite knowing the horrors that will follow. Such an awesome delivery from the VA.
"Let go your earthly tethers, enter the void..."
Shabriri and Dung Eater are probably the only ones pure evil villains in Elden Ring
The VILE DUNG EATER
Is also purely evil.
I think Dung Eater is more properly evil.
i dont really see how combining everyone back into the primordial soup is considered evil in fact if that happened there wouldnt even be a concept of pain.
@@jackvancekirkland Dung Eater is driven by vendetta towards the Golden Order, at least that's what he says to justify his defilements, over what they have done to the Crucible/Great Tree
Vykes spirit defending his maidens body is a gut punch.
So, Shabriri accused the Caravan in order to get them punished, causing enough simultaneous pain and sorrow to summon the flame of frenzy? Pretty interesting theory!
"MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!!"
unfortunately chaos sucks against pve
@@Pancakewagon26 You forgot that they also look amazing.
@@Knight_Twigg Like top-tier double deez amazing. Some of the best looking spells in the game, hands down.
Bro... Everything from this video is in the game..
@@portalmanHUN Yeah but a lot of it is done using gameplay and mods
@@portalmanHUN yes, but they're not shown in a cinema graphic sort of way. You just stand there and listen to the dialogue. This made it more like a short film, which was significantly more entertaining and I never bothered doing a lot of this quest line. So I enjoyed this very much.
Funnily enough, Yuura was the one and only NPC I killed in the story, right near the beginning. For his katana. And until I watched lore video I was convinced that Shabriri simply takes the form of the first friendly NPC you murder in the game as a sign of your growing madness.
Exceptionally funny
@@itsashane1552 I know. I'm over here rolling in my mom's basement too 🤭

This video has really good editing, hats off to you.
It’s so well done, Vaati. You’ve come such a long way and really mastered the art of creating cinematic story videos for these amazing games. I feel like I’m watching an Elden Ring TV show and each one of these new vids is a new episode to watch. Kudos to Alex Roe for that beautiful remix of the Frenzied Flame theme also 🖤
Hi, Queen Victoria. I miss you. Long time no see, your majesty ^-^
Mispap1 does alot of the cinematic stuff you should really check his channel out.
@@AntoniusTertius Hey Antonius! Sorry for the late response and my silence recently! I’ve been completely overwhelmed with Uni lately! Not as much time to talk on Elden Ring videos, but I will say, I’m still keeping up with every new video you post!
I have also tried to promote your channel elsewhere. More people are starting to realize the truth about the lyrics, even the big names. I saw Vaati telling people about the misinformation on Twitter, and a few other streamers recommended your channel. We’re making progress, my friend. Keep up the good work! 🖤
@@queenvictoriann I see. Thank you for helping the truth spread, Queen Victoria ^^
Not sure if I'll keep publishing more lyrics, I have been threatened recently, I was told to remove all those vids since it is official stuff, I could even get sued :( I may release more 2 or 3 bosses lyrics, then I'll stop. The lyrics are gibberish anyway and I already published the only Latin song in the game. I'll try to publish about the singers, I hope I stop being threatened and that the vids stay online forever.
"The world of grace and his people should have been content to see us sink between the cracks, But to have intruded upon our solace. Having broken us upon their whims.. ill never forgive any of you". Damn these line are sooo good i cant stop thinking about them
Made me cry, I love kal'e hobo santa best character in a fantasy game
They hinted at this with kale saying his people are deeply unforgiving. I want this patched back in so badly.
Agreed.
Wipe away all this messy rune war, all these elder gods. Burn them all away.
But you also burn torrent 😥
MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD! MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!!!
@@colorsred2771 nah bro torrent had to go, bro sold me on too many different occasions.
This is probably by far my favorite lore video you've put out Vaati. The setting, the pacing, the storytelling, the fight scenes, and the music... It's all so hauntingly beautiful...
