The Tynwald is the Manx government. The upper house is the Legislative Council. The lower house is the House of Keys. The President of Tynwald, currently Laurence Skelly, acts as the presiding officer (speaker) of the upper house, or when both houses sit together. The closest UK equivalent would be the Lord Speaker. The Chief Minister, currently Alfred Cannan, is the elected head of government. The UK equivalent would be the Prime Minister.
