- Bermuda has held its Proclamation Ceremony to mark the Accession of His Majesty King Charles Ill.
The ceremony was presided over by Her Excellency the Governor, Rena Lalgie.
Classy and well done. A stable government that ensure no single person gains too much power, constitutional monarchy is the best system for the people it serves.
Very well done Bermuda .
They did it better than Canada
As one who has the privilege of living in a constitutional monarchy (The Kingdom of the Netherlands, within the European Union) I understand the beauty of this unique system of government. As in an era of increasingly political partisanship and division it is a gift to know that the Crown wil always endure as a symbol of national unity (or in the case of the Commonwealth of Realms, multi-national unity). Only we, who have the luck to live within a constitutional monarchy, understand the preciousness of the Crown. As it is a link to the past and a bridge towards the future.
To be able to (through the magic of modern technology) bear witness to a diverse collection of nations within Commonwealth Realms proclaim Charles III their Sovereign is an absolute joy and privilege.
I know there are many Republican movements around the Commonwealth, and yes the History of Empire has some dark pages, but the Crown under Queen Elizabeth II has transformed this legacy of Empire into a force for good, as in the modern age it has become an institution for dialogue and collaboration between nations (who share a common history).
Every civilization has periods in their history that they now with knowledge of hindsight would airbrush away with a profound feeling of shame. But let's not forget that without the situations of history the current age would not exist.
Equally important is the understanding that no one a live today bears any personal responsibility for those dark pages (that doesn't mean we dont have to aknowledge it, or shouldn't try to remedy it's prevaling negative influence around the world. We should, obviously!)
Anyhow, I would advise those nations who still carry the Sovereign as head of state, not to cast away the Crown lightly, as it is easily abolished, but (almost) impossible to restore. You just might not realize what you're about to lose, before you've lost it in ernest.
God save the King!
i think some people imagine that it would be a Presidency like America's
and some think the commonwealth is another name for the Empire
What a superb article - thank you very much indeed. We Canadians are proud of our Royal Family too!
Well said. 🙏
Amazing how the meer existence of the crown in a countries system elevates the level of class and decorum that nations citizens carry and present themselves.
Far more class than the Caribbean nations which have since become republics.
I didn't see any citizens in this video.
@@jimmyhillschin9987 citizens of Bermuda and subjects of the crown. The Brits have defined both, as the crown has many loyal subjects from a multitude of realms. However subjecthood does not endow one with rights to travel to another nation under the crown without due process. Each of the crowns domains is sovereign.
In short mate they get to have their cake and eat it too.
@@croweater6814 Overseas Territories are not sovereign. Nowhere near it. Closer to the devolved assemblies in the UK, constitutionally.
@@Tourist1967 did I say overseas territories. No I said crown domains. Australia for instance is a dominion of the crown but is not a British overseas territory, it is sovereign in its own right. Hence why British have a citizenship and Australians have citizenship and despite being subjects of the same crown they are not interchangeable.
@@croweater6814 Bermuda is an OT. And Australia hasn't been a dominion since 1949.
Well done indeed. Bermuda is like Barbados but with brains and manners.
When I heard the news that Barbados was becoming a Republic, when I see the high crime rate, when I see the increased number of people who have dreadlocks, I asked myself WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED to Little England and Pride and Industry!!!????
@@mizzyroro dreadlocks? wtf does dreadlocks have to do with anything? maybe they left because of racist comments like that. you must be an old colonizer in your 80s or 90s to make such a vile comment.
@@mizzyroro I thought the same exact thing…
This was very moving, well done Bermuda, an excellent country. God Save the King.

Wow! this is fabulous! No wonder the PM of Bermuda was one of the first leaders the King wanted to meet.
Bermuda has a premier not a prime minister
He wasn't.
Drill better than most local British regiments now, very well done Bermuda!
Wow! from the UK. Top marks to your Governor. She did the Nation proud!
We had the pleasure of visiting Bermuda some years ago. Beautiful island Beautiful people.
This was beautifully done, such a wonderful and professional Chief in command
❤ from the UK well done !!!
Well done Bermuda. Utter class and dignity. Unlike that disgraceful proclamation of Canada. Trudeau is so disrespectful.
How was the Canandian ascension ceremony disrespectful?
wtf is wrong with you? We were as dignified as ever. How dare you?
@@Laughandsong mumbling "god save the king", and cutting out a lot of the speech (probably because of the Christian references) is dignified and respectful to you?
@@ExpDev69 So what? It was respectful enough.
You folks will find any reason to crap on Trudeau. It is was done appropriately and according to protocol.
Beautifully done, exemplary
This is the best by far of these from the Commonwealth realms
Wonderful, well done Bermuda, your governor speaking so elegantly as well

Ngl, if I was King of Bermuda I would live in a castle on the beach and maybe visit London once a year
Cant keep my eyes off H.E the Governor General's Shola hat. We used to wear it here till the 1970s. Although, few mounted units contue to wear it as part of their ceremonial regalia to this day. Without the feathers though !!.
Very nicely done.
Excellent work.
God save the King
Beautiful and to the letter, well done Bermuda 🇧🇲

Is that a Toyota Corolla?
Well spotted. It is.
Is it necessary?
Yes, it is necessary to make proclamation of our King Charles III in all countries where he succeeds his mother, the late gracious Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. It is historic: we last witness these ceremonies 70 years ago.
Yes
Yes because he is your new head of state.
Africa is still bleeding. You're lost my sister.
