We stayed at Cracker Barrel’s so much during our 5 month full time trip that my 3 yo daughter told people we were from Cracker Barrel!
Okay, this made us laugh! Good ole Cracker Barrel!
😅😊
Have to agree with Nay Nay $60 is high just for an overnight. Especially when you could probably find an independent/privately owned RV park with/in a mile for less $. We are new to full time RV life. Have found nice overnight spots on Campendium for $20 a night. We love NM State Parks and Cracker Barrel.
I'm new to vanlife as well. Really appreciate the info on free camp/overnight sites, thanks! 🤗🇨🇦
Definitely on Team Nay-Nay on this one. $60/night is a bit of a rip-off. $30/ok, maybe as much as $40
Passing through California, stopped at a Home Depot lot and was greeted by local LEO the store apparently complained. We all laughed including LEO because not more than 200 yards was a mini tent city near the Panda Express haha
Moral of the story (ask first) we got the green light to stay as long as we promised to move it along come sunrise 😂
It’s amazing what you get when u ask . Sometimes people forget proper courtesy just because it’s a. Place of business .
I have a similar story. I had a LONG day of driving and was exhausted. Moving on to another spot was really not feasible. I was just too tired. So I took up several parking spaces at the extreme far end of a Home Depot. I went inside and asked the manager if I could please spend the night. He said it was against their policy, BUT since I asked so nicely it was OK. As long as I was off the property by 6:00 am the next morning. I assured him that was NO problem and I spent a wonderful few hours getting some serious rack. If I hadn't asked, it was likely the cops would have been called and maybe even a tow company.
On our trip from Tampa to Yellowstone last summer, every Harvest Host we stayed at was generator friendly. One had 50 amp available for$15.
Some Casino's allow overnight parking. Usually has good security. I would call and ask where you can park if they allow it.
What’s up Hank’s!!! Been full time living with my Greek wife in a 41.5’ Forest River 5th wheel for over a year now. Thinking about doing a channel “My Big Fat Greek 5th wheel “ 😂 Love you guys!
I like it!
I like the channel name!
We are in Texas for a week then back west. We been on the road almost 4 years.
-We don’t stay at truck stops.
-We def love to boondock on public lands.
-We also do harvest hosts
-recently we started to try horse ranches
-we are also thousand trails members (adventure pass)
Thousand trails is great option for between travel nurse contracts. But during contracts it’s kinda hard to find one close to the hospital.
Great video guys !
Great suggestion about fairgrounds. I discovered them this year when planning my trip. I'm staying at two of them on my travels. A week ago I tried to find a campsite near Bozeman, MT around the 4th of July. Couldn't find anything. Tried the fairgrounds and for $20 a night, with no hookups, I was more than happy to make my reservation there. They did have a couple of available sites with full hookups too. Based on all of the other campgrounds in the area being full, I don't think people are aware that some fairgrounds do offer camping. I'm doing the same in Boise, ID. Glad you shared this info with folks. Another very informative video. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience Tom!
I’ve been watching hundreds of RUclips videos to prepare for our very first 5th wheel. We are downsizing from a large home to live in a 5th wheel. We have know idea what we are doing and I just love your content and your personalities! I’ll def be getting me a hat soon! 😊
I’m watching 11 minutes after posting. 😂I enjoy watching y’all. Once a week isn’t enough #thankshanks
Aitn that the truth.. i need some adventure videos
_"Once a week isn't enough."_
That's what she said.
Nay Nay isn’t negative, just speaking facts and your point of view! Great job being open about everything.
Safe travels.
A couple of reasons I love Cracker Barrel over Walmart is they don't have cars flying through the parking lot all night and they don't have all of those parking lot lights. You had better have good blackout curtains if you are staying at Walmart.
That's true!
We pulled into a brand new Loves overnight, no gates, no check-in post somewhere in Texas. We just needed water for our fresh tank and boom, pulled in, filled our water tank and drove off to the Cracker Barrel. Thanks ❤️'s.
We have a New Mexico State Park annual pass. It was $225 for a non-resident pass. We are paying $4 a night for water/electric and $8 for full hookups. If you want to dry camp, it's free. We've been hanging around New Mexico for most of this year and this pass has paid for itself more then once.
As for our favorites here, they are South Monticello at Elephant Butte State Park, just outside of T or C and City of Rocks about 30 miles south of Silver City. Another one to consider is Poncho Villa. Only 3 miles from a day trip to Mexico and the Park Ranger there is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and Poncho Villa's raid. They have a great museum too!
Hi from Kamloops BC Canada! Have yourselves a great weekend and drive safe!!!
Cracker docking is pretty amazing. I am, however, going to pull a Na Na. By the time you stay overnight at a Cracker Barrel (don’t get me wrong, they are amazing as compared to Walmart) and buy a meal you could have stayed at a full hook up RV park right off the highway. That’s also a family of 3 with a doggie. Can’t forget some bacon for him. 😂
#Nay Nay lol
From an older Canadian couple, that’s planning to travel the U.S.A .
Hank and Nene , your teaching us so much, your information is educational!! 😊
Thank you!
How awesome! Enjoy your trip and thank you for watching!
My new RV is done and being delivered Tuesday so yes! Excited!
Yall be safe and have a wonderful holiday. Thanks for the Info and sharing
We have stayed at Love’s RV parks, but the highest was $50 at one with all the amenities. I totally agree most of those amenities are unnecessary! Never used more than the dog park.
The laundromats can be helpful.
You two have a great delivery. Fact filled. Informative. Some lighthearted comedy. You’re my new favorite RV channel. Thanks
It means a lot to us! Thank you for your support!
Just commenting to say thanks Hanks. Much of your suggestions are great and have saved us from stress and spending too much. We don't subscribe to anyone but try to watch every Thursday. ❤
Thank you for taking the time to comment! We're so glad you found our content helpful and we wish you guys a fantastic summer!
You guys are awesome! Great info! Love y'all. Be safe out there
#TeamNey-Ney-- Yay! Yay!
Definitely Team NeNe
So I signed up for harvest host last week. I found myself an upstate New York unable to book a campground over the memorial Day weekend. So I signed up. I'm hopping around to a different place every night through Sunday. Their current special also includes a discounted membership to boondockers welcome. Last night a nice family let me park my trailer in front of their house and even allowed me to use their garden hose. Tonight I'm parking in The parking lot of an Italian steakhouse. So I paid $140 for both memberships and and camping for free at nice secure locations for four nights in a row totally covers the cost of both of those.
We have saved a ton of $ using HH/Boondockers Welcome- and like you said, been able to find places in a pinch! Thank you for sharing your experience! Safe travels!
I love harvest hosts. Alot of these locations I've stayed at I would never have found because I feel you don't branch out too far when staying at walmarts and other traditional overnights
Just remember, I bought that one pound reeses at cracker barrel right after you left. It was delicious, and I did promise to have a fresh one ready for you when we run into one another, along with a few bottles of wine. We love you guys. Keep up the fun videos. We are one of your earliest subs and biggest fans.
This is a great video with some good advise and ideas. Safe travels
Great info. Thanks for sharing. Love the videos
We stayed at I-90 Madison Ohio Loves RV last week for $34 with full hookups. They had 6 spots and dog park with 2 sides for small and large breeds. It was a restful evening.
Nene you crack me up! Love watching, you guys make my day!❤
You two are so fantastic at going over the pros and cons, together..!
I usually end up staying at rest stops for overnights. But with my new daughter here now, probably going to need power to keep her warm/cool overnight til she gets older.
Great intel, Hankses! Thanks very muchly.
I can't remember the last time I paid for an overnight stop while traveling - and we're FTers who travel a lot. There are too many free places to spend the night. We love Cracker Barrels as they are free (and my DW loves eating and shopping there.) I'll gladly spend my money at a business who supports RVers. Their 4-piece fried chicken meal is awesome, BTW - with a light flour coating like my momma used to make. Funny you should mention Albuquerque, as there's a Walmart in the suburb of Bernalillo, just north of the city (perfect if you are traveling on NM Hwy-550) that we overnighted at. It has a convenient gas station next door that has a free dump/fill station. We love free city parks. There are many in TX that offer free hookups for a night or two too. Mostly we like easy-on, easy-off places like roadside rest areas. Many interstate rest areas even offer free dump and fill. Some truck stops have large lots for free truck parking that also allow RVs to spend a single night. Of course, we always fill-up there (and eat there if there's a diner) as a thank you for their kindness. Free casino parking can turn expensive if you eat and gamble there - unless you're lucky like my DW. More times than not we get to stay a night, have a nice meal and still leave with a little of the casino's money in our pockets - not to mention enjoying an entertaining and relaxing evening.
Thank you for sharing this information!
Also remember to pack out what you pack in. If you leave a mess chances are No One will be able to stay because of the messes left for someone else to clean up.
Your No way “negative Nay Nay” your just so real! ❤ love you two. If your numbers slow down on Thursday just remember, everyone is out camping or vacationing.
midweek Hanks! heck yeah!
We definitely like the Loves RV stops. Have used twice once in GA and Dalhart TX. Our stays were $40. No frills and the one you stayed at was much nicer than we have experienced. But great for a quick night.
I love this! We are definitely going to be out there with ya soon!
$60 for Loves seems a bit high
Depends on the state. It’s $40 where I looked in Oklahoma
Way cheaper if they made LOVES their main fuel stop along with the LOVES card and reward program.
Georgia's high because parking is very limited😢😢 for trucks and RV's😢
🍀🍀🍀🍀a weekly fix of Hanks humour - brilliant 👏👏another great video guys
Great information. Will open up more options for us.
Team Hank regarding Love’s Truck RV park
Ok it's Thursday. Sat be 68 woop woop. Injoy and be safe
You guys are too funny. I enjoy your videos each week.
Great options, guys! We found that fair grounds are a great and secure place to stay if you need to be in the heart of the city. It's cheap for full hookup sites, clean bathrooms and they usually have fenced-in areas with security guards or security cameras. They may have some exhibition shows going on which may give you something extra to see during your stay. Most fair grounds will have some sort of race track, whether it be horse racing or car racing. We stay at the Indiana State Fair Grounds a few times each year and it's the most convenient place to visit everything in Indianapolis, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Thank you for sharing your experience with everyone, Denny!
All of these are great options and we have used several of them multiple times.
It is Thursday and HERE Y'all!!! I love you two!! Wish I was a lot younger and a bunch more brave, so I could be on the road too!
Very informative. I'm one to plan very far ahead for our long trips. We generally stay in RV parks but unless you've been to these places before it could be a nightmare. Last year we traveled from Oklahoma City to Southfork CO and decided to stay overnight in an RV park in Dalhart TX. Upon arriving, we decided to stop and eat at a fast food restaurant. As soon as we exited the truck we noticed the worst smell. I first thought it was the trash dumpsters but soon we realized it was the town. From what we found out later is the town is known for cattle feedlots and also produces cattle manure. We did stay at a Cracker Barrel in Round Rock TX last January for an overnight. Unfortunately some yahoo was staying in her car right next to us and was on her phone at 2 am talking like nobody else was around. Worst night of sleep ever. Nobody has control over idiots.
I always like NayNay's facial expressions! Nice!
Thursday night prep here.
I gotta agree with Positive #NayNay Loves for $60????. It's a truck stop. Don't care how much you dress it up, it's still a truck stop. It needs to be half that price. Love you guys. The wife and I are going to be on the road soon. I'll be wearing my hat. #ThanksHanks
We have stayed in a few KOA’s and several private (& expensive) campgrounds and even though our TT is only 23’ and no solar, we prefer state or county parks. Most are located in beautiful areas close to beaches, mountains or forests and we spend our time kayaking, biking and exploring! Saves us so much money. Just wish more SP’s had full hook up. We can go 4-5 days without dumping but prefer to just have the ease of hooking up to sewer. Happy travels!
Thanks!
We stayed at the fairground in Hattiesburg Mississippi when the state park we wanted was a bit sketchy. A nice pond was right at the campground and -bonus- there was a police/sheriff that was residing there.
One that you missed is city/county parks. Many small towns, particularly in the Midwest/Great Plains have free or low cost camping at a city park. Some have hookups, and some don’t even charge for them - yahoo, free electric.
Great information. Thank you.
Thank you!
Very good information guys, thanks, 👍🤗
We are faithful Thursday watchers!!! Great video guys.. Negative Nae Nae cracks us up in this one....
19:30 I just call ahead to confirm they allow RV overnights so I don't waste my time planning a stop that can't happen. I've never been told that we can't stay, but you are right, it's best to ask first to avoid the 3am knock!
Nice video. We have been leaning toward Harvest Hosts lately and the occasional Walmart when we need to resupply. Fulltiming for 8 years with no "home port", W always call ahead to insure its OK. Always check in when we get there too. Love to boondock and we don't stay in truck stops since that is for the truckers. Many Midwestern rest areas allow overnight as well as Texas, NM and Utah. Safe travels. 😊
Thank you for sharing your experiences! Safe travels to you and yours!
Y’all have a safe and happy Memorial weekend! Cheers 🍻
Rv parky is also a great app to use for parking at places
I have seen Hank Soda at our local Cracker Barrel.
Larry from Texas
Hank's rootbeer is awesome
Hanks cream soda. Yum!!
I’m watching on Friday morning
We're glad you're here, Bryan!
I do see the point about the cost of Love’s but have to say the convenience for me kind of wins (at least every now and then). Also, my hat was delivered as I watch this which kind of has me kind of spooked.
We’re in our brand new rig, a GD Reflection 337RLS, camping in Maine for the holiday weekend. Catching this episode on Thursday night!
Welcome to the north country.
Yeah finally caught up to a recent post, love you guys🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Have you ever stayed at Army Corps of Engineers campsites? We are staying at a few this summer. And if you have a national park pass, you get a 50% discount for your stay. Very economical, usually with water and electric.
We're on our way home to NY from Elkhart and over nighting tonight at A LOVES, then we turned on the TV and watched your video... ! LOL!
it's really nice here and saved us from Wally docking!
We've also stayed at golf clubs, farms, breweries, wineries, museums, and even an airport! (harvest hosts!)
Looking forward to that hat and t-shirt we ordered! hope to see you on the road! safe travels❤
Woot! Team Nay-Nay🎉👋🏽🍾
Good video. 😊
Just stayed at a Yak Farm. Awesome.
Watching on Sunday because it's my Friday. Save all my videos for my weekend . 😂
Hanks Soda is at all those gift and snack shops along I44 across MO, IN, IL, etc. and. Route 66 or I70 and I80 across IA, OH, NE, and WY. You can also stay at the world's largest gift shop and candy store in MO. Some of the many wholesale knife and kitchenware outlets, outlet malls, and touristy gift shops along the freeways will sometimes let you overnight too.
Guys, What are you all doing about water?, are you traveling with half a tank or how are you handling that when stopping at these non hookup places. This has been one of my biggest questions. Please elaborate. Love watching you guys! Thursday tradition!
I use primo 5gallon water jugs. I cut a 2 foot hose and attach a funnel. To help me control pouring the water into the unit. Walmart shopping cart holds 5-6 , 5 gallon jugs so 2-3 trips fills up my tank completely. If u bring your jugs back into walmart u can refill them for $2 or get new one for about $6 each
The hats are super cute!
It's gunna be a loooooong week til next Thursday!!
Hanks, Love you guys! absolutely great job on this episode! you know where im coming from.
#teamCarl: I’m with you on the Loves truck stop. The convenience and security with hookups works for .
We went out west last year and we stayed in State and National parks the majority of the way. We did stay in a few commercial sites but the price is excessive! We are Team State Parks. We will try boondocking next trip. Luv you guys.
j'adore votr humour et vos vidéo sont très agréables à regarder
Merci beaucoup!
HEY HANKS!! Love your chan....inspired us to hit the road...hope to see you in the road soon! great video btw
Nice, we love to hear that! We hope you guys enjoy it and have safe travels!
Yes we want to meet you
Thanks Hanks! My wife and I are RV newbies and will be taking our first trip with multi- day travel. Our first few trips have all been within one days travel of home base. Baby steps! We will be driving from Atlanta, GA to HotSprings, AR. Going to break the drive in half an stay at one of the Love’s RV Stops over night. Maybe there will be another couple to play Pickle Ball! 🤣
We aren’t full time RV’ers but retired and working ourselves towards it!
Enjoy your content, thanks for sharing your adventures!
Awesome! Sounds like a blast, we've heard amazing things about Hot Springs! Enjoy and safe travels- you got this!
We travel all over the country and love to use Harvest Hosts when cooler temps allow it, blm land, state parks and Army Corp of engineers land. Cabela's and Cracker Barrel are real life savers and we love the food.
Makes me want to invest in a couple extra pads so we can have rv's stay overnight on our property. Might be a future project!
My wife and I stayed at the Washington State Fair grounds in Puyallup, WA for several weeks. This was in 2020 and 2021 at a cost of $35/night.
Cracker Barrel's are AWSOME AND we love the food!! Every Walmart we have asked to stay at in several states in the last two years have said "No". Just started following you guys and you can bet the next time we stay at Cracker Barrel we are gettin' the Hanks Rood Beer!!
i think yall really need to look into getting a generator i like your videos thanks
Double time over here for team Nay Nay 👍👌
That’s too much at basically a truck stop with extra amenities.
Go to go with team NéNé on the Love’s!
I've been loving your videos, your positive attitude and all of your tips! When I doubt my plans to RV full time you get me pumped, realistic but optimistic. Do you know anyone who does it solo? I've looked but most vloggers are couples.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Thursday nighter here 👍🏻🤗
Team Naynay!Love fairgrounds! Colby Kansas! County parks are also great!
I'm watching this on Sunday 😂😂😂
