Never stayed at a Cracker Barrel. Never travel without a confirmed reservation. And why would you use a pee bag? You are towing a bathroom and a 40-gallon black tank. Pull over and use it. Certainly sounds preferable to trying to pee while traveling 60 mph.
Here’s a tip for Cracker Barrel locations, look for the little RV or bus on the billboards. If there is a little RV, you can park over night. Not all CB’s allow overnight parking. Love your videos be safe!!
Thank you. That’s a great tip. I don’t RV. I drive a Prius, which apparently people sometimes live in. I would just want to be able to park among the somewhat civilized people. Walmart has lost its appeal. I want my park amongst the civilized folks and live to tell about the experience.
I stayed at several Cracker Barrels on my trip from Ga. to Maine last year. As a senior, solo traveler, along with my dog, the best CB was in Portland, Maine. Always felt safe and called ahead to make sure they have overnight parking. Had my meal to go and was able to relax in my RV and there were always several other overnighters there.
We have 118-gallon bed tank on our 2017 Denali dually. It saves a lot of time on those long road trips. From my RV transport days but saves us a lot of time on our annual camping road trips.
Hardly any CB’s on the west coast, we have found rest areas and some city/county parks that were good for overnighters. We are NOT boondockers. We like our water, power, sewer. It’s amazingly simple to find an RV park along the route except in some big city/metropolis areas. We sure enjoy your videos!
RV Trip Wizard has an entry under trip settings that allows you to select your average driving speed versus using the routing engine estimate. Just increase that as needed until you get estimates that match your average travel time (Trip Settings, Routing and Driving, RV Routing, "Use My Average Driving Speed").
You two are true boondockers. No solar, no extra batteries, no generator. I couldn't do it. I love my air, heat, TV, and Internet. We have thought about boon docking, but I have to have my creature comforts. I'm getting older. Y'all are young. You can put up with it. I would consider a power station for emergencies. Just a thought. Enjoyed the video. You two are so funny. 😎
We FT in a MH so my spouse can get up and use our rest room, get something to drink, etc. any time she likes (within reason of course) - no peepee bag for us. BTW, we passed through Kerrville last Sunday. We overnighted at the Westbound I-10 rest area just east of there. We liked it because it has little pavilions for picnicking and a free dump station too.
You should stop at a QT (Quik Trip) some time. Their truck stops have plenty of room. But so do most of their non truck stop locations. They’ve just started adding RV specific spots and amenities at a few locations.
My cat did the same meowing all the time inside the crate on travel days. I eventually let him out and now he lays down quietly sleeping in the back seat 80% of the trips. He just hated that small crate.
Our 4 cats ride free. We have a single, large kennel that stays open, which they can choose to hang out in or on. They’re closed in the kennel before doors are opened. There’s also a litter box in the cab for them. They shard the space with a giant dog (used to be 2). Truck shopping means making sure the pets fit.
Whew...glad you didn't spill too many secrets about Matagorda...keep it secret. Keep it safe. Again, Great to meet Kyle...Carl next to our site in 'Gorda. We could see our camper at 1:01 neighbor! Wish we could have shared some fresh redfish. Crackerdocking....yeahhhhh....the few we have picked to dock were small and VERY not level. Slide out all the way into the flowers...and hot enough to fire up the generator for some AC. Sorry...not sorry. Crackerdocking is convenient, but unfortunately we weren't able to say long enough for breakfast since they don't open at the cracker of dawn (haahaha).
You guys are just delightful! Especially since I see that we get better fuel mileage, AND, we have a solar panel, a LiPo4 battery, AND a generator, AND we don't even full time! Come on guys, get with it!!!
So, we are on our maiden voyage of Full-Time RVing. Today was our first decent travel day since we started on 4/12. Tomorrow once again we have crazy winds coming and we are scrambling to find a place to park overnight....preferably free or cheap. Thanks for showing us that we are not alone.
We have a new 5er with the pull down stairs (which I had decided against after watching a previous video of yours), oh vell, it came with the package. Well on our way down to So FL in January this year CB was pretty packed tight, needed to put our bed slide out and leave those stairs down! Glad we had big cones! Hate those long drive days but hubby is very destination oriented, we had already lost 1/2 a day due to severe storms. We left from 10 degrees in CO, got to Shreveport in 2 days. Ugh! I ❤your videos!
My wife and I LOVE your videos ! We've learned so much, and made many purchases and notes based on your videos ! Our first RV was a 20 foot teardrop camper, and we had many wonderful adventures in it. We are now in our fifties, our kids are grown up and moved out of the house, so what did we do ? We bought a fifth wheel ! We live in Southwest Ohio. If you ever are in the area and need a place to stay, let us know. We have a 30 amp dedicated hookup, free of charge. Letting 'er rip in the house bathroom is also free of charge. We love cribbage, and would enjoy a four player game with you.
stayed at CB Alma Arkansas. It was warmish but after dark when we arrived (we had the only travel trailer there but still didn't put out slide-out) Found a battery powered fan -gave to hubby to put in window. A thunderstorm rolled through middle of night and temperature dropped a lot !!! Great breakfast the next morning .
Can't beat those breakfasts! Glad ya'll survived the crazy thunderstorm...it's amazing how those storms roll in so quickly 😬 Stay safe and thank you for your support!!
We stayed at the Cracker Barrel in Moss Point, Mississippi going to and coming back from Florida. We arrived late in the evening both times and had no problems parking. The staff was great, had breakfast and hit the road.
I absolutely appreciate your videos. We are going to be traveling as CNA's, and eventually getting a 5th wheel. Can't say it enough that your videos are the best for beginner travel full-time.
It is nice you have Cracker Barrel’s around. They had 4 of them here in Oregon but they just closed 3 of them this month. Also, the Cabela’s in Eugene does not allow over night camping.
Great channel! I hope y'all have purchased a generator since the making of this video. Costco sells the Firman invertor gen for about $600 and it can run both your AC unit AND your micro at the same time. It's lightweight and easy to transport. Happy travels.
Thank you so much!! Yes, it our most recent videos you will see that we ended up purchasing a generator 😃 Thank you for your wonderful support. We look forward to hearing from you again soon!
On our way to and from Florida, we always stayed at CB. Never had an issue, except one night we had to move because at 11pm a construction crew moved in to do renovations on the building.
We have stayed at a few CB but I always call weeks ahead and check them call on the day in coming in and we always eat supper before we turn in for the night, all of our experiences at CB have been good so far.
Great vid. Love that you guys are on an adventure with friends. You do need another battery, maybe solar. A genny would be nice also. Keep the vids coming and thanks for the Cracker Barrel info.
Kyle Pro tip on the DEF Fill it up at truck stops much easier using the DEF pump then the jugs, especially for you GM guys with the tank under the hood.
We travelled all over the US like this for 3 years. First of all, we only boondocked when the weather permitted. If it was too hot, we stayed in an RV park and ran the AC. We preferred Cracker Barrel’s, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s. Last resort we would overnight at a Walmart as long as it was not located near the interstate and we never parked near the tractor trailers regardless of the location. Always arrived late and left early and either shopped or ate at the establishment.
Love watching your videos & appreciate all the work it takes. You guys are awesome! Renee’ you have the prettiest blue eyes! Your children will be gorgeous 😊
FYI camper slides should not be extended without being leveled. You risk knocking slide off track if the camper is not level so staying hooked up may not be the best advice and may result in some headaches to say the least
Absolutely! We couldn't have such a better ourselves. It's best not to take shortcuts, but to do the due diligence upfront ensuring that you skip out on those headaches in the end 🙂 Thank you for your support and for your great feedback!
I was stunned how many RV parks were unavailable my last trip. I usually call ahead but I thought I’d just find one along the way. NOPE. A couple said u have to have reservations and had gates. Others were closed. All Stays App is pretty good but it’s nice having a generator to pull into a Walmart.
Oh no! We are sorry to hear this, Jim. We are glad that AllStays was at least helpful in some aspect. We hope that you stay safe out on the road. Thank you for your love and support!
Thanks hanks!!! I’m enjoying watching your trip! I’m hoping to go more full time/part time in the near future. The Cracker Barrel tips really help!! Love your fun! Keep it up!!
Yall are in my old stomping grounds! I knew you were close to Kerrville just by the terrain on I-10. Hope you stopped at Cooper's in Junction and got some AMAZING BBQ.
Just heard about CB parking yesterday, and wasn't really sure if I believed it or not...Thanks for a great vid and clearing it up for me! New subscriber, and looking forward to more tips from y'all during my 6 week cross-country trip starting next week (9-6-23). Happy RVing everyone, see ya on the road! 😃
Hi Hanks watching U2 from the uk 🇬🇧, as a retired trucker & Caravaner, If you use 45 mph as your avg over your journey you’ll not be far out when planning a journey 👍 great channel:)
As a truck driver when trip planning I always used 50 miles per hour to figure how long the trip would take. It's also a good idea to stop briefly every two or three hours of driving. Fatigue makes you do stupid stuff. Get a truck stop guide you can get in and out easily. Just remember, while you are playing, they are working.
I just have to say that y'all are fabulous I cannot wait to meet you right now I live in an RV in someone's yard LOL I am renting it so I can learn to live in an RV like I am traveling and then I am going to get a van and build it out and travel the United States with my three dogs I cannot wait y'all have got me started on it and I loved it y'all are teaching me so much I can't wait to get started thank you for your all your help and advice
We love boondocking! We love CB! Hey, you guys better check in next time you are in the area. The driveway will be open. We love following your adventures!
I remember being young and not minding at all driving long distances but I'm not sure about doing that with a 5th wheel. I've never pulled one and I'm 61 now. I'm just thinking the trailer tugging & pushing on the truck would get old, unless they are designed better than that. We did recently buy a 20 year old Class A so.... Gotta get back in the big truck, driving a ways, mindset this Spring.
Hi there! Congrats on getting a Class A! We have always wanted one of those 🙂 we don’t like driving extended distances all the time, but some days it’s nice just to get it over with and get to your destination so that you can relax and enjoy. Thank you for your support and for watching our videos - Kyle and Renee
Wife and I stayed at Cracker Barrel in Round Rock, Tx back in January. They were super nice and had special parking for RV's. Unfortunately some fool in her car came rolling up about 2 am and was standing outside on her phone screaming at whoever was on the other end. That morning we went into the Barrel to eat then left. The gal was so tired that she was still asleep when we drove off. Unfortunately the Ram diesel is way too quiet. Wife said never again will she stay at a Cracker Barrel. Keep driving Jeff until we find and RV park.
Hello friends! We are at Lake Havasu City, AZ and we're keeping our eyes open. We are going to catch up with all you peeps one of these days. On our way to Lake Mead.
Urine bags? Never used one but we stopped at a state rest stop in the Texas panhandle that had a sign with some restrictions on bathroom use. One of the restrictions was: No urine bag emptying in the restrooms. At the time I assumed the sign was aimed at truck drivers. OK, now you can go on abut the Cracker Barrel thing. So far we have over-nighted at a Walmart and one state rest stop that had an all night attendant. We got the Cracker Barrel thing on our list.
Wish I was out there with you guys. Looks like you’re having a good time to put some miles on. I travel with the cattle dog and a Bengal cat and Rosie runs free in the truck while I’m driving. I have a little carrier for when she goes to sleep sometimes and if I need to, I can walk her in there, but I don’t know that she’s free. She likes looking at the window watching the trucks. Wish you guys the best. Safe travels sending you positive energy from Porter Ranch, California.
its so great to see the two of you out there each week. Especially now that it has been five years in the making. Great job, congratulations! Should i survive my medical issues, I plan to get out there and... "Let er Rip' myself in a year or so. Going from Boating to RVing. Thank you for helping me pass my days waiting on another doctors appointment. If I may, can or would you consider a harness of some type verses crating up Dexie during those long trips? I'm afraid I too, would have some "Salty Britches" LOL Stay well. P.S. 82 degrees in NOT hot, keep heading west... LOL
HEB is the best grocery store. Kerrville is the birthplace of HEB. We have both Open Road and Pilot/Flying J RV Plus for expanded fleet pricing and fueling.
Love your video The Cracker Barrel in Durham NC write off I85 has nice RV parking pull through. But the restaurant just got a 76 Sanitation grade. Thats BAD
My question would be, where is the RUclips video showing how to use a pee-bag? Yes, we've stayed at a Cracker Barrel, I believe it was in Flagstaff Arizona. Back then we had a truck, with a slide in camper, pulling an 18' enclosed trailer with quads, had no issues and had a nice breakfast in Cracker Barrel the next morning. Now we have a Class A diesel pusher, pulling our 'towed' behind, so it's a little different, but always hoping for a pull-thru!
We towed our fifth wheel all day from Guerrero Negro, Mexico, up Baja, across the border and to Yuma, then had to drive around for 3 hours late at night before we found a park with an online checkin. That was the most exhausting and stressful drive of my life.
We really enjoy watching your videos and have been rving for the past couple of years now (weekly trips). We have been staying at Cracker Barrels and only once found one that wouldn't allow us to use their parking lot overnight. We always call ahead for permission. Stay well and enjoy the summer.
Love ❤❤❤ Cracker-docking! I always get dinner and breakfast. I do hope we can keep this option, not only by being courteous and cleaning up after ourselves but also pick up any other trash you see---and don't stuff their tiny waste bins. Take it to the dumpster or take it with you!
I'd been searching for Class B+ and C motorhomes to replace my wrecked (deer encounter) 38' '94 diesel pusher and continually come up short. Now I'm searching travel trailers and find that there are ones that would be great for my single senior travel adventures that work well with my Silverado 1500. I have previous experience with that truck and a toy hauler (with H-D Ultra Classic) that was ultra tight. Newer, 20' Grand Designs have it all and now that's been my new search. Your trailer/truck experience inspires me to give it a try.
FYI - GPS is for cars traveling at predicted speeds whish rarely occur. Towing an RV takes far more time so plan accordingly. Enjoy the ride, folks! Take things as they come. It's all part of the adventure! Lots to see in this great country!
There is another fuel app RV'ers use called "Mudflap" different stations from open roads similar discount. We keep a kobalt 24 volt fan with us works great all night long, recharge the batteries when you are on shore power. Same battery as our drill and blower, keep er moving 🚌
I told you we’re getting to live full time on the road. My Dad & Mom had four different motor homes and traveled for 40+ years. My siblings had rv’s. And fifth wheels. So, I’m not new to this kind of life. But the two of you brighten our days. Thank you.
I stay at Cracker Barrel quite often when I am traveling. Also Walmart, Truck stops and rest areas. I have Harvest Host but have not tried it yet. Cracker Barrel is a favorite as it is quiet and no one bothers you. I do have breakfast there but not always.
@@HappilyEverHanks you mean you don’t have a private helicopter following you around for those shots? LOL thanks for your time and dedication for the videos hanks!
Much love from Kerrville, TX. I think we might have seen you guys parked at the Walmart in town. We just remember seeing three Solitudes all parked together in the back of the parking lot and thought it was cool. Safe Travels.
Love ya guys. We are 6 years behind ya. Just hitting the 1 year full time mark. Who are the two couple your traveling with? When we started out we followed SEVERAL RV’ers. You and one other (all about RV’s) are the only ones we still follow. Looking for some more we agree with. Like you 3.
They are two couples we met while full-timing! They are all such great people and so fun to caravan with! You can follow @itsme.rainilee on YT, IG, and FB to see more caravan fun!

Frequently do Cracker Barrel’s. Be sure to talk to the manager and always eat. Say thank you!

That is not correct, that means that parking is available for buses and rv's. Always call ahead to make sure that overnight stays are available.

Hi Hanks watching U2 from the uk 🇬🇧, as a retired trucker & Caravaner, If you use 45 mph as your avg over your journey you’ll not be far out when planning a journey 👍 great channel:)
Your so close to a great State Park called South Llano. Junction is a interesting little town. Have safe travels.
Glad to see you guys out there having fun! Even though I'm not a newby I like all your tips and ideas. Keep them coming. Mike B in FL.
Thanks Mike!
Stop, that yarning !! It's contagious
Yes, now I can barely see my screen 'cause my eyes close when I do that thing....can't say it because it creates more....yaaawwwnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Hello Hanks. Great video once again. Not a pro at much here. But thanks Hanks for the Hanks Time i need that too.
Hi. I was surprise to see you guys putting the leveling jacks down. Or did I not see that ? Awning really ? Whoa.
We just put them down a little bit, not full weight
Cracker barrel was always a great place to stay, and yummy food 😋
Love the channel ❤️ we are just starting with the camping world and we are super excited and can’t wait to get started
LOL
We love Cracker Docking! So much better than Wal-Mart. Keep on trucking y'all!
As always, amazingly awesome amount of info in another great video! Thanks Hanks ! You make my day.
Thank you so much for your wonderful support!! :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...as if
I'd been searching for Class B+ and C motorhomes to replace my wrecked (deer encounter) 38' '94 diesel pusher and continually come up short.
I would have definitely pulled sharply to the left to ensure I could get out. I’ve been boxed in before and that can be very frustrating. 😊
I love you guys ! Your videos are great !!!
Thank you so much for your amazing support 😊 We appreciate you watching!!
I truly enjoyed your CB video, I am in a wheelchair and trying to find ways to make it work and see the USA. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. 👍
I told you we’re getting to live full time on the road. My Dad & Mom had four different motor homes and traveled for 40+ years. My siblings had rv’s. And fifth wheels. So, I’m not new to this kind of life. But the two of you brighten our days. Thank you.
The pecan pancakes at the Barrel are awesome!
I stay at Cracker Barrel quite often when I am traveling. Also Walmart, Truck stops and rest areas.
I have Harvest Host but have not tried it yet.
Cracker Barrel is a favorite as it is quiet and no one bothers you. I do have breakfast there but not always.
Always look forward to your videos. Thank you.
I'm so happy y'all are enjoying the great State of Texas 😊💜❤️💜❤️
You guys look so fun! Wish I knew about all this in my 20's instead of my 60's.
Great video, as usual. I would love to know how you pull off the drone footage of the three rigs in busy areas. 🤔
Lots of extra planning! Takes about 45 mins off the trip just to get a 30 second shot
@@HappilyEverHanks you mean you don’t have a private helicopter following you around for those shots? LOL thanks for your time and dedication for the videos hanks!
Howdy Hanks! You were in Kerrville and we are RVing in Montgomery this week.
It looks like you are at the Cracker Barrel in Kerrville. I live in Kerrville.
For a second I thought you said CB's were quiet. Most (many) are located right next to the interstate and there is lots of road noise.
Thanks for bringing us along!
Thank you so much, Wayne!
@@HappilyEverHanks thanks for the info. You are definitely my top watches. All 3 of ya.
Great video as usual and love following you guys.
