      Never stayed at a Cracker Barrel. Never travel without a confirmed reservation. And why would you use a pee bag? You are towing a bathroom and a 40-gallon black tank. Pull over and use it. Certainly sounds preferable to trying to pee while traveling 60 mph.

    Here’s a tip for Cracker Barrel locations, look for the little RV or bus on the billboards. If there is a little RV, you can park over night. Not all CB’s allow overnight parking.

      Thank you. That’s a great tip. I don’t RV. I drive a Prius, which apparently people sometimes live in. I would just want to be able to park among the somewhat civilized people. Walmart has lost its appeal. I want my park amongst the civilized folks and live to tell about the experience.

    I stayed at several Cracker Barrels on my trip from Ga. to Maine last year. As a senior, solo traveler, along with my dog, the best CB was in Portland, Maine. Always felt safe and called ahead to make sure they have overnight parking. Had my meal to go and was able to relax in my RV and there were always several other overnighters there.

    RV Trip Wizard has an entry under trip settings that allows you to select your average driving speed versus using the routing engine estimate. Just increase that as needed until you get estimates that match your average travel time (Trip Settings, Routing and Driving, RV Routing, "Use My Average Driving Speed").

There’s also a litter box in the cab for them. They shard the space with a giant dog (used to be 2). Truck shopping means making sure the pets fit.

    SERIOULSY!!! YOU GUYS.... have the best fricken RV video's out there! I am so thoroughly entertained watching your videos! Thank you for being together and being so hilarious. I am going to be new at the RV life. I'm on my own now after losing my husband in Feb of this year. I'm going to be 68 in August and I'm the retired bus driver (school buses and charter buses) and I was the drivers boss too so I'm a very good one to live this way and keep up with the stresses. The thing is is I have 6 cats. Do you think I can do it? I am planning on an outside zipped screened tent for them and a tunnel going out one of the windows to it. (once parked). Happy travels and thanks so much for who you guys are! Wish I could RV with you at some point. Same park... same time??

      Kathy, you can absolutely do it! I have w dogs and 2 cats who are my world!! When I take out my travel trailer, they all go with me. Most important thing of all is keeping the furkids safe! If your furkids can claw through anything they’re not safe. Keep yourself and your furbabies safe out there!!

      Very sorry for your loss.

    • @dnrsvp
      @dnrsvp Год назад +3

      Sorry for your loss, Kathy, but you can definitely do it. You've spent a long time driving a bus, so a motorhome may fit you better. It's the same as driving a bus. Pick an appropriate vehicle to tow behind it, and you'll be great.
      If you prefer a 5th wheel, that's great, too.
      Depending on where you park, the screened tent may work or not. Most parks are fine with gazebos, but some consider them separate camping units. Only 1 camping unit per site, at most parks, so if they treat it like a tent, then no. If they treat it like a gazebo, then probably ok. The other issue may be wind. Open areas like beach camping, many spots out west, and all of Florida are windy.
      Don't sweat the little stuff like that. You'll figure out what works and what does not for your situation. Just be flexible. Most of all, HAVE FUN!
      See you on the road!

    • @JamieStuff
      @JamieStuff Год назад +1

      If you feel uneasy about overnighting behind a shopping center where they turn off the parking lot lights after the stores close, then CB may not be your best option. Truck stops are likely your safest option; they are well lit, and (usually) open 24/7. They usually have security cameras covering the parking lot, which is a deterrent. Highway rest areas are also a good option for the same reasons. Walmart, while no longer open 24/7, also is generally well lit and has cameras.

    So, we are on our maiden voyage of Full-Time RVing. Today was our first decent travel day since we started on 4/12. Tomorrow once again we have crazy winds coming and we are scrambling to find a place to park overnight....preferably free or cheap. Thanks for showing us that we are not alone.

    Hardly any CB’s on the west coast, we have found rest areas and some city/county parks that were good for overnighters. We are NOT boondockers. We like our water, power, sewer. It’s amazingly simple to find an RV park along the route except in some big city/metropolis areas.
    We sure enjoy your videos!

    Whew...glad you didn't spill too many secrets about Matagorda...keep it secret. Keep it safe. Again, Great to meet Kyle...Carl next to our site in 'Gorda. We could see our camper at 1:01 neighbor! Wish we could have shared some fresh redfish. Crackerdocking....yeahhhhh....the few we have picked to dock were small and VERY not level. Slide out all the way into the flowers...and hot enough to fire up the generator for some AC. Sorry...not sorry. Crackerdocking is convenient, but unfortunately we weren't able to say long enough for breakfast since they don't open at the cracker of dawn (haahaha).

      The number is kinda irrelevant. 82 means very different things throughout the country. In the dry Nevada desert? No that’s not hot. In fact it’s rather comfortable.
      Downwind of the Great Lakes with that humidity? SWEATING YOUR BALLS OFF.

      I remember clearly stopping at a Colorado McDonald’s and we were debating if jackets or a sweater was needed. It was 74° and breezy, as we entered a group of teenagers were whining about the heat, how unbearable it was, how hot, etc., we broke out laughing. 😊

    CB is one of our favorite overnight spots, but some of them can be in high traffic areas with all-night noise. Casinos have been good. WalMart can be sketchy. We got a Harvest Hosts membership last year, and we've enjoyed HH sites so far. Harvest Hosts are quiet and interesting, but most of them lack the easy-off, easy-on accessibility of CB.

    Never used a Pee Bag. In a Class C there is a pass through to the living section, you can pull over on an exit ramp and walk right back to the rest room without even stepping out of the vehicle. The concept seems primitive to me, so last millennium.

    Fill it up at truck stops much easier using the DEF pump then the jugs, especially for you GM guys with the tank under the hood.
