Yay! We went to Alaska in July for a month with no reservations other than Denali for 4 days. Everyone said we were nuts, but we didn't have any problems at all!!
We love watching you guys’ videos. We also appreciate that you put out a video every week. We’re local travelers in NorCal, but dream of traveling farther and maybe long term. Maybe we’ll see y’all on the road one day. Until next weeks video Hanks. We hope you’re enjoying St. Augustine, their Christmas is pretty amazing, even though it’s too early. You can always peek at last year’s on RUclips. Ps are y’all travel nursing too? Are those assignments far and few? Another dream of mine.
Do you guy read the comments? Love the vids, very well done, have a question, why not get a washer/dryer combo for the RV, save a ton of money in the long run. You guys always have the greatest tips due to your experiences and mishaps.
I've been a film and video editor for over thirty years, and I have to say, you two rock at production techniques, editing skills and story telling prowess. Not bad for two by profession nurses! As a new RV owner, I've enjoyed your channel so much.
Also be aware of semi’s. We were rear-ended by one back in August as traffic was slowing down. It was following way too close and couldn’t slow as fast as us. It totaled our small camper, luckily no one was hurt. We were loaded up and on our way to a camping trip, ruined our trip and camping for rest of the year. Since I met you two, (and am totally obsessed) Can’t wait for Thursdays. Now being a widow and orphaned after being a RVer, camper my entire life with Mom & Dad then got married to the best man who was bathe same way. So, all of us where always traveling. Then when Mom & Dad retired out they were “Camp Host” at one of the lakes in the Sierra/Navada mountain range (I just happened to work for 😉) and it was some of our happiest times in life. Now, being alone (I moved back to California from International Falls MN (where we originally began life and Dad wanted to go back to finish his life. They are all buried now and I’m in a temporary very small duplex (Renting) with my ESA dog Abby, trying to figure out what I want to do in life. Buy a house ?(worst time in history)go into mfg/Mobil home-park or buy a Class C and hit the road but! Being alone at 64 years young! Traveling is really on the top of my list, but just feel it’s not safe, to much work alone, did I say “Not safe” 😊so on and so forth. Or, just hunker down here until the economy turns around 😖 and live vicariously through you. Want to thank you for the best hour of my life on Thursdays. I LOVE watching you guys SO much! You both are my all time favorite videos to watch. I laugh along with you both. So Thanks Hanks for all the great times!
When you buy beef jerky at Buc-ee’s, try the jerky from the “Jerky Counter” instead of the prepackaged jerky. The jerky from the counter taste much better. A good tool to check the tires and wheel hubs temperatures are the inferred heat guns. When you’re not using it for measuring temperatures, you can use the red dot for the cat to chase around.😊
We stopped at a campsite about the same time. They told me that since they are Good Sam listed, they have to save spaces just like the place you went. State parks are a totally different story.
Great video! I really appreciate you driving tips. As a career first responder (32 yr LEO) I find it interesting and frustrating how so many people have stopped pulling over for emergency vehicles. I also enjoyed the whole "wing it" premise of these two episodes. I know personally it is easy to get caught up in the "what if..." and forget to just enjoy life. Thank you two for what you do, I enjoy your humor and light hearted approach.
Carle your comment says it all " Rv life may not be the avenue for you". I think this comment with its context really hits home for a lot of RV'ers. We want to get out there to have more freedom and Less stress!!!!
We recently evacuated for hurricane Ian. On our way home we had no reservations. The only night we had any trouble was the first night. We wound up staying in a Bass Pro Shop parking lot in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Now we have a Class A diesel pusher so we have a onboard 10k watt generator and we had fresh water in our tank so we were fine. The parking lot was spacious and pretty level. We had a great night's sleep.
What you addressed in this video is why I want the rv lifestyle. My whole life is on a schedule and planned out. I have 2-3 years to kill my debt and then we're headed out and looking forward to just going somewhere without time as a restraint. Just relax and roll with flow. Love your channel, keep it up.
This is so amazing to hear! You sound like you're on a wonderful journey with getting rid of debt, and then hitting the road. You have so much to look forward to and I am sure you're going to find that relaxed timeframe 😊 thank you for your wonderful support and for watching our videos!
Yay, a new video! I’d love to see how you guys organize trips or keep track of info. For places you’ve stayed or plan to go. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video like that. Enjoyed this too, I’m just a planner.
Hiya! I know it's old-school, but they sell RV site tracker books. I was given one as a Farewell Gift. It has a ton of pages that each have places to put location, site, what site you would like for next visit, a place to write down any thoughts or recommendations. We love it, we are still new so it doesn't have any pages filled in yet but can't wait to put it into service!
Boy you guys got lucky there, the parks around us don’t leave openings for travelers, probably because we’re more of a destination area for campers not thru traffic. Especially holiday weekends
I think I have watched every single one of your videos, and a couple more than once! I love the humor from both of you very much, and the info too of course. I hope to have a 5th wheel next year. Keep the videos coming! Happy trails!
Wow, you accomplished your mission. I was actually quite surprised that you guys made it by staying without reservations. Thanks for sharing. Peace and safe travels.
You are so much fun to watch and we love how you throw in a tip or two along the way. We always get something out of your video, even if it’s just a laugh. Thanks!😊
I was happy to see all of your campgrounds allowed one night booking. We stayed at a campground outside of Pittsburgh in our way up to Niagara Falls that had sites specifically for people passing through for one night and we had a nice pull-thru site. We’ve found, however, a lot of campgrounds that want you to book for at least two nights. Thanks for another great video, Hanks!
Just found you guys, so I'm two months late on this one, but from one old transport nurse and EMT to two others, thanks for pointing out all of the dangers of not yielding to responding emergency vehicles and how dangerous the rubber-necking of other driver's can be! People have been injured and killed because of driver inattention at the scene of crashes. Safety first!! THANKS!!!!!!!
Hey Hideho Hanks! Turning 70 this year and just bought our first RV sooooo, been getting my U Tubeversity degree. Have to say, you two are killing it. Great content, great editing, and hanksariffic personallity. Lovin the Hanks. Thanks you two.
Thank you for mentioning about stopping, I keep running into comments on FB stating how a RAM 1500, GMC 1500 etc. can PULL their 33 foot trailer....The bottom line is a Volkswagen Rabbit can PULL any trailer, perhaps not well, but can PULL it. It is the STOPPING that matters, is the truck really going to be able to stop the trailer in a panic, or in a trailer brake loss.
As a truck driver, the best advice I can give is to increase your traveling distance from the vehicle in front of you. This will prevent any quick stops or need to slam the breaks. I can't tell you how many times the 4 second rule has saved me. Let the vehicle in front of you pass an object or marker on the road, count 4 seconds, and you should be passing that same marker. Happy traveling. 😊
@@curtisdoyle3598 huh until you have Pam all over the camper and truck and is like trying to wash off silicone off lol would not recommend to anyone there is products that buys wash off easily
Pressure regul. We run the same regular because of on demand water heater. Use a water "y" at the supply! One for fresh, one for black. Double shut off on black tank.
We always travel on holiday weekends and never have reservations and never have a problem staying anywhere. Not you guys but most all other youtubers put the panic in having to having to have reservations. #travel loose with the HANKS. Slow down and travel safe. 😍😉😋
You both are fun to watch no matter what you go through you come up playing ball again and fun with it . 😅 ❤ what you do for sure. Lord Bless You Both.
Another great video! Thanks Hanks! My brother, pulling his 5th wheel, and I, driving my class C, drove from Georgia to Washington last June. Out of 7 nights on the road, we were able to find a spot every night except for 2 of them. We thought that was pretty good.
That's awesome. We've had good luck for finding a place last minute, too. Great job stopping quickly!! That's really scary! My husband is good about keeping a long following distance. We were in crazy busy traffic and he was doing great until the guy in the left lane cut us off as we were going downhill pulling our trailer. So grateful our truck and trailer stopped and we didn't hit him and no one hit us!! It was so close and terrifying. Life on the road is seldom boring. Love you guys. Take Care.
First, I SO agree with the dangers rubber-neckers cause. Eyes on the road! I have family and friends who are truckers and have seen first hand what dangers are cause by inattentive drivers. Now for the good stuff...we have been campers for over 40 years and usually fly by the seat of our pants. We love to boondock but also stay in campgrounds. We have a cozy 22 ft camper, now, and only had one time where we had a little trouble finding a camp site, Albuquerque, during the balloon fest. We are watching your AK trip. We might get to see you, we leave in a week for a 2 month trip.
My wife and I have been fulltime for a year December 10th, towed around 20k miles, haven't made a single reservation. We don't spend many nights in RV parks but when we do we just show up....great video.....
Hey Hanks, we go "commando" all the time, no reservations! We got burned doing reservations early on in our full-timing journey because of a surprise snow storm snowed us in for 3 days! Had to cancel a whole string of reservations down the east coast and eat the fees. Now we're commando only. We have learned that the best are first come, first serve camp sites and to travel mid-week and stay through the weekend. Hey also, noticed you have West Lake tires, not a fan of those, might want to look at upgrading (just sayin)
We so identify with this. Our travel plans cover getting the rig hooked up and deciding which way to go on an interstate. We do carry a generator just in case though. I can't tell you how many times we changed plans at the last minute and had to find a new place. Planning stresses us out, it creates too firm of a timeline. Nothing worse than trying to rush to the next place or cut something short because you HAVE to be somewhere. Pressure gauge thing is golden. Can't tell you how many we have tossed. Never thought about the pressure being built up and needing to be released. Love the content and safe travels.
We just went on a 68 day trip starting labor day weekend. First night CG was full, but found a free roadside park. Had very short reservations only a few times made that day. Extended our stays at several parks. Everything worked out great.
living on the edge! i am thankful for this episode that there's nothing wrong with being spontaneous every once in a while. you don't always have to have a plan.
I have reserved entire 6 month trips accross the US coast to coast twice. Mostly because the places we stay are hard to get, but also saves a ton of time not having to find a site and a route.
Yall are so fun to watch, and I don’t even have an RV! I don’t want to deal with towing anything or drive a bus. We enjoy driving in our nice quiet suv & have reservations at decent hotels, nothing too fancy that I would need a jacket! Not gunna happen!
The only other series that I loved to watch that was a "way back when" show was Lucille Ball. Y'all make me laugh so much. You need your own TV/Cable show. Can't wait for next week. If y'all are in the Savannah area ring me up.
I can't tell you how much I love your videos!! Not only the content but your humor gets me to lol every time @ a time in life when there is very little left to laugh at. We are fulltimers since April..6 months in Pennsylvania and now 6 months in Florida. I sure hope that we will meet up somewhere along the way. Btw..Im a newly retired nurse and I think that your lifestyle is awesome!!❤️
Thank you for sharing this! We plan the long stays, but wing it on travel days. Also, our big trip this summer, we totally pivoted and changed our reservations for the week to get out of the heat. Able to make reservations on the travel day for an entire week at one of the more popular summer destinations. No problem. Kept saying to ourselves that this is why we RV. Great couple of videos.
I've noticed in Florida that summer holidays are not as busy, because of the heat. Getting a reservation during the winter months are not as easy. It's flipped from the north.
As a ex-EMT in the Bloomsburg PA area part of our coverage area was I-80 and wow, you had to really keep your eyes open on calls on the I. I don't know of anyone who enjoyed running calls up there.
Thanks Hanks for the cool gadget suggestion to make the y tube go from the phone to the television!!! You have no idea how much i spent on apple devices that didnt work !
Places need to keep spaces open. At leaste if those to lazy to call & say not coming have it as if not there by 4pm & no cancellation, don't expect to have space unless call and give later time to be there.
Good news! I can't do that. Way too much anxiety involved. I'd rather have reservations. Great job letting us know it is possible if needed. Love you guys❤️
Yeah It's good to know that there's good odds of getting a spot without a reservation, but if nobody made reservations it'd be chaos. They can handle one or two rigs showing up walk-up but if 30 rigs showed up without res it'd be a mess.
Hey guys what’s up! The way I like to set my regulator is… if I want “x” amount of pressure with the shower on, I turn the shower on and then set pressure. Just be sure when it’s off that it doesn’t exceed your rigs psi rating. In all reality these new rigs all use PEX and can handle std household pressures.
Hi there! Congrats to you on your new trailer that you just bought! Thank you for your amazing support and for taking the time to watch our videos. It means a lot to us! - Kyle and Renee
Thanks for the tip on the water pressure regulator. I was trying to change it while water on and thought it wasn’t working right so bought a new one! Never hurts to have a back up.
I just stayed at Flat Creek this past weekend. Called an hour out and got a great site! Great amenities, huge dog park! Look forward to staying there on the way home. And still have no idea what the Jai Alai building was about?!
When gas prices go down more people will be traveling again. We were worried over Labor Day Weekend about finding a place with full hook-up because the place we wanted to stay at is normally booked full. This year there was us and one other trailer. Crazy!
Great episode, we hav done it as “drop ins” on long trips but for a week I reserve. We’ll see once we’re full timing in a couple of years…very different between a tent & a fifth wheel! As for the rubber necking past crashes, that’s the job of the passenger! They report what they see to the driver. That’s what we do. I like to try figuring out how it happened. And if EMS isn’t on scene (& no one else has stopped) if assistance is needed. If there’s a non-EMS crowd we just keep going.
St Mary’s georgia in florida border is a great overnight spot too. Right on 95 always room and serve free waffles with fresh georgia peaches in am for guests.
Great job Hanks! Yes!!! Get over!!! Thank you for reminding your people that! The ‘rubber neckers’ are the worst!!! With us… We can’t/won’t handle anything less than 3 night stays. However we have done 1 night stays on long hauls, hate it though.
Last Labor Day we traveled from Green Bay Wisconsin to Yellowstone national park made two stops we did book them ahead of time but both places had tons of room for just walk-ins we even got upgraded to full hook ups. As a full-time truck driver I know how it is when you come up to an accident and you have everybody rubbernecking stay safe out there try and stay dry thanks from Wisconsin
I stand corrected; not only did you prove that having no reservations - even on a busy holiday weekend - is do-able, but you made it look easy! Well done, you two! You are always such fun to watch!
I always say go around, slowly be ready to break. It’s a Florida pastime to rubberneck. We had someone pull out in front of our rental travato on a road that’s only 2 lane at 35!!!.
You mentioned rocks hitting your rig coming from your tires. I purchased a set of RV flaps that hook onto the trailer hitch on your truck. Problem solved.
Hay …got a tip for your driving….proving you have a 10 speed transmission …..place shifter in M1…then to m9 leave there whenever your driving….you will eliminate the FMS fuel management system……much easier to drive your rv…..p.s u will love your truck again!!!p.s.s.s if you have a diesel disregard this post….
love watching you guys you make me laugh so much! My husband and I never are like you two. It's hard for me to go with the flow. Safe travels!!! (Cheri)
Knowing that 5th wheels don't have built in Gen and or solar I installed a system on mine to not get caught without power also a small generator that will run all systems if needed all but air conditioning system can be expanded early to second panel and more battery to gain faster recovery time
By far… your best edit everrrr! This show was kick a$$! You guys are the best! Thank you! Loved every minute of it! Mr.& Mrs. Hanks- Mr Awesome and Mrs Sauce!
very cool. We have seen a place that said that if we wanted to book on a holiday we had to stay the whole weekend. I'm sure that is not usual. We did get stuck a couple of times thinking we could sleep in a rest stop or truck stop but there weren't even enough spots for all the professional truckers those times. But we survived to tell y'all about it. We agree, flexible is key and don't wait until too late in the day to find a stopping place.
In the last 5 years state parks in the west have become nearly impossible to get into without reservations. National parks are impossible without reservations.
Thanks Hanks! This gives us a possibility to travel out of state now and book the main spot destination but don't on the way and look for some options. Thank you and on the water regulator too!!
100% Yay!! Funny you guys asked in the video, but we just did exactly what your doing here during our 18 day, 14 states, 6,023 mile trip. We mostly did the guerilla overnights (rest stops/Loves/Flying J's), but the 3 actual campsites we booked, we did each of them the "day of". And one, we just rolled in at 1am and did the late night check-in procedure (KOA Lafayette LA). So, 100% know for a fact that you can find a place the "day of", even on a Friday (Needles CA) or in Shenandoah Valley VA on the Thursday (stayed Thur-Sat) of Veterans Day weekend. #LetErRip

Tip for everyone. Become familiar where your hazard button is. Turn it on to alert vehicles behind your tow rig that you’re slowing down.
It always amazes me how many people cut off semi's on the highway. Give em some space people

DId y’all notice that thumbs up in the clouds at 6:02? A sign….It’s all good. Thanks Hanks!!!
Great tip on the pressure regulator! Thanks Hanks!!
Absolutely! We totally agree, it is something that is overlooked frequently.
@@HappilyEverHanks Plese do a video on that in the future! You and/or Changing lanes!
Yup Robert, x-actly what I read ALL the time too, so many stupids out there! 🍻
You can boondock in my property we have 50amp & water for a small fee. I'm on Boondocking welcome. We're in Malone Fl in panhandle.
This whole video I was thinking they could as back up do a BoonDockers welcome or harvest host if necessary.
Ya'll crack me up, 100 miles, we've done South Fork Colorado from Fort Worth Texas 791 miles 13 hours in 1 day. Love ya'lls videos.
Spray Pam on the front nose of your RV and the bugs won’t stick
But dust will lol
I would rather have dust than dead bugs and having to wash them off
@@curtisdoyle3598 huh until you have Pam all over the camper and truck and is like trying to wash off silicone off lol would not recommend to anyone there is products that buys wash off easily
It’s worked for fifteen years saves me a lot of work washing bugs off
@@curtisdoyle3598 you do you I wouldn’t recommend to anybody to do so Spray Pam all over your truck and see what it looks like
Pressure regul. We run the same regular because of on demand water heater. Use a water "y" at the supply! One for fresh, one for black. Double shut off on black tank.
Thank you for the water tip. I hadn’t a clue….. I ❤ your Buc-ee’s cup!!
Good tip on the water pressure regulator.
So what did you do for the two nights you couldn’t find a spot?
That's awesome. We've had good luck for finding a place last minute, too. Great job stopping quickly!! That's really scary! My husband is good about keeping a long following distance. We were in crazy busy traffic and he was doing great until the guy in the left lane cut us off as we were going downhill pulling our trailer. So grateful our truck and trailer stopped and we didn't hit him and no one hit us!! It was so close and terrifying. Life on the road is seldom boring. Love you guys. Take Care.
Sometimes I just watch y'all because I need to lighten my mood and smile. #thanksHanks for the smiles 😃
Love this! When we go cross country everyday is like this. Expect to end up in a parking lot but instead full hookups almost every-time. :)
We have winged it so many times for holiday weekends and was able to get sites also. We so related to thos video!
😂 @1:41 The Hank’s are traveling over water!❤
Good tip on the regulator. I was wondering why the needle wasn't moving! Thx Hanks!
Great B roll & editing...great shots, mixes and audio.
Thank you Ed! We really appreciate this 😊 Cheers!
Just bought a trailer and am hooked on your channel.
Yes, we have had the same thing happen before and unfortunately didn't need to buy a new one when we did. Glad we can be of some help! :)
I just stayed at Flat Creek this past weekend. Called an hour out and got a great site! Great amenities, huge dog park! Look forward to staying there on the way home. And still have no idea what the Jai Alai building was about?!
You guys are always so upbeat. Don't you ever have bad days?
Love you guys.😊
However we have done 1 night stays on long hauls, hate it though.
ps… love you’re wearing a SOMEDAY CREW shirt!
I just LOVE ya’ll’s channel! 🥰🤣Ya’ll make me chuckle!! Many blessings!
Thanks! This summer will be my first time to wing it. You really helped.
We are so happy to hear! You got this 🙂
Great job keeping the videos informative but lighthearted!
Thank you, George!
I stand corrected; not only did you prove that having no reservations - even on a busy holiday weekend - is do-able, but you made it look easy! Well done, you two! You are always such fun to watch!
We travel most of the time without advance reservations. Another resource is Harvest Host some of them offer electric hooks too!
It is really hard to believe just how smart Ney Ney is, She is Awesome!
I always say go around, slowly be ready to break. It’s a Florida pastime to rubberneck. We had someone pull out in front of our rental travato on a road that’s only 2 lane at 35!!!.
I worked 30 yrs in LEO Rubber Neckers are a problem they cause wrecks. Love watching you two Stay safe
You mentioned rocks hitting your rig coming from your tires. I purchased a set of RV flaps that hook onto the trailer hitch on your truck. Problem solved.
Yup, agree ✔️🍻
Hay
…got a tip for your driving….proving you have a 10 speed transmission …..place shifter in M1…then to m9 leave there whenever your driving….you will eliminate the FMS fuel management system……much easier to drive your rv…..p.s u will love your truck again!!!p.s.s.s if you have a diesel disregard this post….
love watching you guys you make me laugh so much! My husband and I never are like you two. It's hard for me to go with the flow. Safe travels!!! (Cheri)
Thank you Cheri & Mike! Safe travels to you as well, we appreciate you guys!
You 2 are living the life. Wish i would have done something like this before i bought a house and had kids
Thank you very much. This lifestyle is always here waiting for you! 😊 Hope to see you out here one day
Knowing that 5th wheels don't have built in Gen and or solar I installed a system on mine to not get caught without power also a small generator that will run all systems if needed all but air conditioning system can be expanded early to second panel and more battery to gain faster recovery time
By far… your best edit everrrr!
Love watching you guys! We’ve honestly learned a lot and laughed a lot because of your videos, thank you!!
Thank you very much for your support in watching our videos! We are so happy that they videos can be of some help 😊
If you guys are going through North Carolina… please stop through Asheville! Great food and wonderful people!!!❤
Thanks Hanks!
#LetErRip
Very good video information on the last minute stops. So true everyone says must book ahaed. Love Y'alls content. To funny & Cute 😍
