Can't believe it took that long for a simple plastic prefab holding tank to arrive and get replaced. So sorry you guys had to wait so long. Oh and tell Renee soft water is low mineral compared to hard water.
We ordered some things from Lippert….wow….they just ignored my 6 calls, the urgent messages from the call center to the “people” where the items we ordered were located. We do the same 😊 and it sure makes life so ,icy brighter!!! Love y’all and happy RV’in you two🎉! 🍋🍋🍋-->💛💛💛
Hey Carl, I noticed that you connected the emergency break away cable to your fifth wheel hitch. That location is not legal because if your hitch actually breaks from your truck, the cable will not trigger the brakes. It actually has to be attached to a separate location from your hitch. (20 year owner of a trucking company) just trying to keep you safe. Love you guys!
@@faverdod5773 many people are unaware of this. Unfortunately many rv dealers tell customers to hook it to the locking arm of the fifth wheel hitch. Legally it has to be secured to a location completely separate from the hitch.
@@justustwo1457 I will try to locate the actual law for you, I belive its under FMCSA. I've had a driver fined and I've received a warning for improper/ unattached emergency breakaway cable. State Trooper in Texas explained the law to me.

The tank replacement may not have been "light & entertaining" but your presentations are ! In my 40+ years of RV-n (not full time) I've learned to just do most every repair & maintenance myself. Even when the shop's do repairs I ended up doing them over. As you said early into this video, "they don't care". Stuff just happens & ya gotta figure it out. Laundry; I lost that job when my wife saw me separate it into 2 loads; white & all others, use just 2 small machines (cheaper) for 2 weeks of laundry + towels! The coup de grâce; if one cup of soap is good, 2 is real good, right !

Howdy Hanks ! Love the way you live and I leaned so much from you that I’m selling all I own and going full time as well. 66 years old, wife is 55 and we still feel young and energetic. Hope to meet up with you some day to say “ thanks “ and shake your hands.
KC, after almost five months of abuse & mistreatment from that grey tank, you were still able to show it love & forgiveness. It's those small gestures that restore my faith in mankind.
I just got a job at a trucking company and overheard them saying that one of their drivers drove 80 miles and then the trailer came loose in the middle of the road. They said it was because he high hitched the trailer and did not visually look at the hitch to confirm it was 100% latched. Thank you for talking about this. You definitely need to do a pull test but you also need to visually look also.
I also noticed at the end of the video that Carl was hugging the black tank that had been leaking and put his face against it. I hope they had washed it off really good😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣
7 months now as solo RVer. The toughest part is not having a partner to bounce ideas off of, and when the tire goes flat, the engine overheats, the dog vomits, the sensors don't work, the 30amp breaker breaks, the truck makes a wrong turn into a dead end road, etc. etc and so on, you are it. I can see why so many singles choose a van, but for me, that's not enough room. I tried a 25 ft, and just upgraded to a 33 ft travel trailer. I still haven't met any solo single ladies, but my 3 black labs are serving me well as man magnets. 😄
You just said what I yell at my hubby every time he backs up “ go slower... stop STOP ✋ “. he knows what he’s doing 😀. And I’m always locked out tapping on the window.... so glad you’re getting to camp at MB

The RV industry is fundamentally broken. When you two have this type of issue, there is little hope for the rest of us. Anyone who sets up an RV dealer that has a truly excellent, professional service and support department will own the world. Waiting for it to happen!
I totally agree! Service After The Sale is almost nonexistent in car sales, rv sales and the like. Your platform should have Camper’s Inn as a company should be revamping their service department! I mean, HOW do you lose a 52 gallon tank?

Gosh. After watching this, I'm never buying an RV.....oh wait, I already have one. LOL. Thanks for sharing the real RV life! This is also common with owning a house right now. It's crazy and the lack of parts and not so good service makes me want to sell and RV permanently. Maybe when and if I retire.

Good morning Hanks from Chattanooga Tennessee! I thank you for your real and entertaining content. This is my first time commenting on your channel. What prompted my comment was the fact that you guys went to Campers Inn, there in Myrtle Beach. My wife and I did some RV shopping while we were there on vacation back in March. We purchased our first coach in November of 2021 a 2012 Forest River Classic Super Lite. Eight months later, we now have a 2018 Montana high country that we just purchased after selling our house. We are almost completely debt free, and will be completely debt free in a couple of years. We still have about seven years before I retire, but we decided to prepare early. We are currently stationary in a RV park. We will be out there soon. Hope you guys haven’t given up by then. If you are ever back in Chattanooga Tennessee connect with us. It would be great to meet Dexter… ok you and Nene too.
We’ve paid hundreds of dollars to have issues repaired on our RV only to find out the problem is still there but now we’re a hundred miles down the road or the repair tech damaged something else while he was working. Sadly, it’s happened multiple times and is not an uncommon experience for us. Consequently RUclips has become our best friend and we do everything we can to be our own mobile RV techs. Good luck!! You two crack us up!
Being full time RV’r is much harder than for us weekend warriors! We can buy at a local dealer and have some amount of loyalty from the dealer. But you must find a dealer that cares about you. We got very lucky and found such a dealer in St. Louis. Every time I was there, all you hear while listening to conversations others were having was “Customer Service” from the sales people, service writers, and the Techs working on the RV we bought from them. But if you didn’t buy from there and are not a member of Route 66 group, “We’re sorry but we must take care of our customers first”. Happy you finally got that tank placed! Next thing to happen will be the water heater. Stay Happy Hanks! Kevin
I would have lost my mind. You are such a good role model for Rvers and would be RVers. I would have needed to refill my Ativan storage tank. God love you. ❤️
Woo hoo. Y'all have a lot of patience that I lack. However, my wife keeps me grounded. Watching you and a few other RV RUclipsrs, I can NOT wait til we get back into camping.
Come on full time!!!!! As y’all know we had our black tank fall out. 2 kids and a dog while we are building. That want fun hope all turns out well. Thanks for the video and safe travels
Good Morning Friends! Finally on the count down for retirement, and our new chapter, RV travel! Thanks for staying so positive no matter what gets thrown your way. Thank you for keeping it real, and all the work and effort it takes, to take us along. And, shhhh, on the downlow, we are always there when you are asking “us” questions! May your underbelly stay secure, your gray tank intact, and we will join you next week!
WOO HOO great feeling when you get things back to somewhat normal!! Now off to another adventure that I can't wait to watch next week! Safe travels and give Dexter a scratch for me!!
Karl...Karl...Karl....change where you hookup you trailer brake cable....it needs to be attached somewhere solid on the truck not the d-ring of the hitch....someone in Florida told me of a gentleman who had an accident and they cited him for improper cable attachment....get a spring wire type 6' with the clasp and attach at your tie down near your plug....🤠🤠
Finally!! Sooo glad it is fixed! This lifestyle is definitely not for the faint of heart. So much can go wrong so quickly. You always have to be your own advocate, no one is going to do it for you. Been going through some tough stuff myself with RV life but you helped me tonight to think that things can always be worse. I have my RV roof over my head, my family and friends and my health. Just got to put your head down and plow through the tough times! Safe travels!!
Glad you FINALLY got the tank replaced! If you have luck like ours.....the Refrigerator is probably next. And you can count Campers Inn Myrtle Beach out for replacing that. They wouldn't help us. We have ours stored at Lakewood Camping Resort and found a mobile guy there that picked it up for us and had our Solitude moved on site and changed it out for us. Saved me a lot of stress since we are in Ohio. On a side note...Lakewood has the best soft water than any other campground that we have ever stayed at. Most likely the reason you had the leak there. Good luck on the adventures. I wish we could have met you at the rally. I got a little under weather while we were there and didn't want to risk getting anyone sick if I had Covid. So we stayed away from folks the best we could.
Oh thank you both for “reaffirming“ ,along with several other couples.saving me from The mistake, purchasing any grand design models . I am cured I’ve never seen so many needed repairs on every channel (featuring grand design products). each repair comes with something else damaged ,only to be found out days ,weeks or months later, grand design is just all about the money and they couldn’t possibly service what they’ve already sold and there obviously is a quality control problem.
We don’t run into problems with Grand Design itself. They have been amazing with helping us out with any issues even before our RUclips channel started. Both GD rigs we owned had little issues compared to people we know with other brands 👍
Taking in the rig is a nightmare. We don't full time so it's not a total emergency. However, getting two days of work done at the dealer took two months and once it's in there there's nothing you can do about it. One idea for your hitch up while "filming", get an extension cord. I'm old and ducking and reaching in to plug in sucks. I know some people have problems with them but I've had mine 2 years and it's great.
POSITIVE ATTITUDES are by far the most important tools in a full time RV'ers toolbox! Thanks for sharing! We have days (that feel like weeks..) where it seems like everything is breaking and going wrong. And then you have those days where you are so thankful for this life! It's the struggle to stay balanced. Love your videos!
I am happy you finally got your tank fixed. I don't agree with you saying people won't but an RV after watching what you have gone through. We just bought a new truck and a new travel trailer. We have been called "newbies" a couple of times already. I have been watching your videos and your adventures inspired and help me make the decisions on the type of truck to buy and the trailer we will enjoy using. "Thanks Hanks" for your down to earth information and helpful guidance.
The humility and confidence that you guys display is inviting. Your humor is entertaining. We camp often due to following our daughter around the country riding horses. You are smart to learn to fix your camper yourself because you are correct that no one cares about your camper more than you do. And no one will effect the repairs as well as you will. Keep up the great work and stay positive. Thanks for your time.
I recently came across your guys channel and i must say, i LOVE the energy you guys have!! I also love how you guys take a crappy situation and try to make the best of it! Both of you inspired me to buy an RV when i come back from my deployment and live the RV life. Love you guys and safe travels.
Just think, this time next year yall will be its been a year since we had our grey tank replaced! Remember what all we had to go through to make that happen! But it was not so bad because we got to spend some time at the beach with friends!! Yeah! I believe it will be a while before anything else goes wrong with the RV. Especially with them Grand Designs! Happy trails u2. Be careful out there!
I read a comment that things are so bad for you guys. I don't see it that way at all. Life is always going to throw you two, and others like you, these curve balls because you aren't following the zombie crowd. You're developing your immortal selves and that is what we are all here for. It's a test. Keep handling things exactly how you are. You two have it right. "It" is trying to trip you up. Lol keep winning!
Yeap, wasn't wrong , another Great video as always! So happy you got the gray tank replaced. And getting the underbelly replaced too was a bonus! October can't get here fast enough!
Hi, I found you 2 a few days ago. I'm honestly relieved by the guidance/info. I'm 55, new 1st time owning a camper & it's just me. I have a 2007 Palomino & I absolutely love it! I haven't needed professional help with it yet, but knowing the hiccups is of great value. Let me add that you are both adorable together. About to watch your 55 & over (ooops, 55 & under, lol). Teehee Much love & blessings!
Y’all. We can do relate. We are in the midst of having our black tank replaced after a complete disaster of a cross country trip, death in the family, and an emergency surgery for my hubs. The rv life has its pitfalls for sure.
Your videos are the best! I'm getting close to semi-retiring and trying to learn as much as I can before I hit the road and you'll just give such great advice and your entertaining as all get out! Can't wait to meet someday!
Sorry to hear all this...I'm surprised this didnt happen to Julie and me as well on our way to the Fl rally. Glad to see your positive attitudes continue!
Seeing Lakewood brought back some flashbacks! I worked at the Trading Post for a few summers and was "promoted" to the front desk night shift for two seasons. It's the only job I ever quit twice! The WORST day was when 4th of July was a Friday and we had a 600 camper turnaround on Saturday (half the dang campground...thanks reservations!) - I cannot begin to explain how much I loathed those check-in booths....
Well it’s just another wonderful memory to enjoy when you turn 60 (lol). RV living can be tough, but you two sure seem to handle better than most. Enjoy the road.
I understood exactly what you were feeling as you left the campground. There are friends out on the road and the times together are few and far between. My friends from RCRV came and visited me three weeks ago for a barbecue at my new house in Lima. Even though it was the first time we met in person, it felt like we've been friends for years and you do genuinely miss them when they leave. The great thing is we tend to make many friends all over world and they tend to be friends for life. Big hugs from Logan, Rockett, and Uncle Mac.
Glad they fixed it for you guys and you don't have to wait another 5 months!!! RV repairs are a bummer, but so far I'm so happy we have been able to fix them ourselves. We have 2 cats and a dog and would be like you and have to sit in the truck all day waiting! Hope you have fun at your next adventure
When we rv in myrtle Beach we stay at carolina pines in conway which is a out 15min north of myrtle. Take a gander at that campground they have I door and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Resturant, bar, water park.
Glad you got that fixed. That's a long time to wait! We bought our imagine from the same Campers Inn. They were very friendly folks but you could tell that they didn't have enough room for all of their stock. We finally went on our first RV trip last week and low and behold my truck broke down one day after arrival. Waited all week to get the part in for it and we were able to make it out in time. We still had a blast just chilling at camp. You can always count on adversity and it's totally up to you what you make of it. Thanks for all the videos, they have been very helpful to us. And funny of course!
You guys always handle adversity with humor and really entertain me. Keep up being an encouragement to others to full time R.V . living. Grandpa Jack 💘 loves you guys.
Unbelievably excited for you to finally get that thing replaced! We live FT in ours as well and take on many of the repairs. It's hard to be without your home! :)
Been there Carl. They lost the keys, and had to order new set. I had them install the hitch, and it wasn't done right, tons of sway, had to return. Front cap was damaged, and it took 2mos to get. When it arrived, the decals were trashed. I purchased the trailer last March, and I'm waiting for the decals to be installed... gonna do myself.. I have more issues with grand design and this dealer, but I'll leave it at that. Enjoy your trip. Chris
I would watch your channel over ANY comedians out there! You two make me smile and laugh so hard! One thing to note about warranties when buying an RV, we bought from a dealer that has a lifetime warranty on certain items. ALONG with that warranty is the perk of hotel stays for free or reduced prices when your RV has repairs if you fulltime or something happens on a trip. I KNOW people think most RV warranties are a waste of money, but we have extended warranty through NAWAN and they have been amazing. I can give you information, or your original RV dealer should have the information, too. Safe travels and God Bless!
Every channel with grand design basically most the videos is about broken stuff. I've been going for almost a year not a single thing has broken on my Forest river. Guess I made the right choice.

Thanks for sharing! We'll see y'all on the road sometime! 7 years will fly by!
HALLELUJAH !!!! It’s about time!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!🎉
Kevin
That's some great customer service!
Never say goodbye, say see you soon !!🙃
I would have lost my mind. You are such a good role model for Rvers and would be RVers. I would have needed to refill my Ativan storage tank. God love you. ❤️
Thanks Bob!
You guys are having some really great times!!! LOL
🤗
WOO HOO great feeling when you get things back to somewhat normal!! Now off to another adventure that I can't wait to watch next week! Safe travels and give Dexter a scratch for me!!
Karl...Karl...Karl....change where you hookup you trailer brake cable....it needs to be attached somewhere solid on the truck not the d-ring of the hitch....someone in Florida told me of a gentleman who had an accident and they cited him for improper cable attachment....get a spring wire type 6' with the clasp and attach at your tie down near your plug....🤠🤠
Thanks for sharing!
Well said!
Next time! Thanks for sharing
New T-Shirt Tanks with the Hanks
You guys make thursdays the best day of the week 💕💕💕💕 goodbyes just mean more hellos to come !
So true!
🤗
The humility and confidence that you guys display is inviting. Your humor is entertaining. We camp often due to following our daughter around the country riding horses. You are smart to learn to fix your camper yourself because you are correct that no one cares about your camper more than you do. And no one will effect the repairs as well as you will. Keep up the great work and stay positive. Thanks for your time.
🤗
I recently came across your guys channel and i must say, i LOVE the energy you guys have!! I also love how you guys take a crappy situation and try to make the best of it! Both of you inspired me to buy an RV when i come back from my deployment and live the RV life. Love you guys and safe travels.
Welcome to our channel! Thanks for joining the Hanks 🤗 And thanks for your service
Nice.... FOS was in da house... woot woot nice to see fellow youtubers in your area, looks like fun... safe travels Hanks
Good to hear that your gray tank finally got fixed!!
Shout makes color catcher sheets. They are wonderful. Mix all the colors you want .😉
👍
👍
I read a comment that things are so bad for you guys. I don't see it that way at all.
Life is always going to throw you two, and others like you, these curve balls because you aren't following the zombie crowd.
You're developing your immortal selves and that is what we are all here for. It's a test. Keep handling things exactly how you are. You two have it right. "It" is trying to trip you up. Lol keep winning!
Well said!
Glad y'all got it fixed. Mucho frustrations with RV s sometimes. Great attitude🎹🎤🎸🙂
Just started watching, I'm sure it's a great Video! #ThankHanks!
Thank you Scott!! You rock 😊
Yeap, wasn't wrong , another Great video as always! So happy you got the gray tank replaced. And getting the underbelly replaced too was a bonus! October can't get here fast enough!
Hello, I found this video that explains the end of the 5 months. Ignore my other comment on the first video.
Love y'all man!
Finally! New tank and clean clothes! This is the life, expectations lowered then exceeded!
Sorry for your RV troubles Carl n Ney Ney
Thank you Josh! You are so kind, we hope you enjoy the video
@@HappilyEverHanks anytime , how’s Dee doing
Y’all. We can do relate. We are in the midst of having our black tank replaced after a complete disaster of a cross country trip, death in the family, and an emergency surgery for my hubs. The rv life has its pitfalls for sure.
So sorry about everything 😣
I’m so glad you finally got your tank fixed!! Great video as always!!
You both have become the wife a my favorite channel. Thanks for all the laughs.
You’re so cool, thank you for the positive pep talk. I just have finish my night with what you’re up to. 👍🏼
Love you to.
::Golf claps:: Yay im happy for the Hanks Tanks!
About time. Lol. Glad it’s finally fixed.
Wow, has Lakewood Family campground changed since the 70’s when we used to go there all the time.
So glad you had a good time at Lakewood, isn’t it fun! Thanks for sharing your authentic feelings 🖖🏻😘👍🏻🙏🏻
Congratulations! On your new Hanks Tank. Soft water is without minerals, hard water has "hard" minerals. Have fun, stay safe ✌️😎
On your tug test. You can also use your trailer brakes to hold the trailer back. This way it also checks your trailer brakes.
Your videos are the best! I'm getting close to semi-retiring and trying to learn as much as I can before I hit the road and you'll just give such great advice and your entertaining as all get out! Can't wait to meet someday!
You two are our faves because of shows like this. Gut wrenching frustration while thinking logically. Big hugs...we love you from Montana!
Sorry to hear all this...I'm surprised this didnt happen to Julie and me as well on our way to the Fl rally. Glad to see your positive attitudes continue!
Y'all definitely had an experience!
I always use plastic welding to fix black and gray water tank cracks. I always have one in the 5ther.
Wow, thanks for sharing David!
Thanks for the Hanks Tanks vid 😁
Well it’s just another wonderful memory to enjoy when you turn 60 (lol). RV living can be tough, but you two sure seem to handle better than most. Enjoy the road.
Thanks David, all the best!
We definitely do the RV mobile tech for anything that can be done outside of dealership.
Well said! Thanks Logan, Rockett, and Uncle Mac!
Thanks Emily!
When we rv in myrtle Beach we stay at carolina pines in conway which is a out 15min north of myrtle. Take a gander at that campground they have I door and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Resturant, bar, water park.
Ok, not laughing but I can’t resist all the facial “comments “ and the eye rolls! Keep on keeping it real. 👀😏🫤😵💫😵💫 And I will keep on watching.❤️👍
Lol! Thank you Doreen, you are definitely seeing us at our true personalities. We keep our marriage fresh 😂
A happy ending!! Your problems have inspired me to build in a little safety layer in my tank mounting setup.
Thanks for sharing!
So happy for you guys! Glad you got your trailer fixed. Great video.
Great point! Thanks so much 🤗
Every channel with grand design basically most the videos is about broken stuff. I've been going for almost a year not a single thing has broken on my Forest river. Guess I made the right choice.
That's awesome!
Give it time.
Grand Design is one of the worst built RVs in the industry.
You are SO lucky you married up and got a comedy genius to boot... great job 👏
You guys are a rolling sitcom, love you videos.
This is why I built my custom van.
I know exactly what's in it and how it's put together.
Great channel 👍
Right on!
So glad they got it fixed for you guys.. Hank’s we’re stressing me out with the tank problems 👍
Thank you Bob! We are certainly happy to have this behind us now!
Noooo! No more problems, time for a smooth cool break. 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for watching, Roberta!
Awning would be the next adventure.. Best of luck
