    Hey Carl (Kyle), You're placing your tire chocks upside down. Great video, thanks for uploading. Just wanted to give out the tip! I placed mine like that once and the smooth side slides easily, especially on asphalt and concrete.

      Interesting, Kyle may have been placing them correctly since it was that way, and I said, that is upside down! Lol

    The problem with Damp Rid is that you are throwing away that plastic container and replacing it with a new plastic container that you will throw away. Buy some sheer drawstring organza gift bags and fill them with desiccant beads. The beads come in colors and when the beads lose their color it means they can't absorb any more moisture. Just pop them in the microwave or over to dry them out. When they are back to their bright color throw them back in the bags and put them in your closets and cabinets. I've been using them in my MH for 5 years and haven't had to replace them yet. Thanks for the list! Safe Travels✌☮

    Collapsible laundry baskets are great! We also have a collapsible mop bucket for washing the RV, and in the kitchen, collapsible colander and measuring cups. The sure do save space, and have held up over the years.

    • @The_Good_Life_starts_today
      @The_Good_Life_starts_today 10 месяцев назад

      Since I'm in a small travel trailer, for a laundry basket, I use one of those black/yellow totes that I store misc. items (bottled water / life jackets). It stays outside and is completely waterproof. As far as a bucket, a Lowes blue bucket is larger, general purpose and can even be used as a stool.

    Good job! Yes - using a "real" dehumidifier is important - even just drying shower towels overnight. We don't full time and when the camper is parked we open all the doors to the cupboards and closets - especially when in storage.
    The tip you didn't include that is one of our favorites is quick connects for the water hose. We put them between the hose and pressure regulator, then the hose and filter. makes setting up quicker. Thanks guys!

    For the last one (Valterra external sewer valve), I added a stainless steel hose clamp over the connection after twisting it on. It will keep the valve from moving around when you connect/disconnect your sewer hose, and also keep the valve from falling off while driving. The hose goes behind the gate, where it twists on, and tighten it over the bayonet tabs after they lock in place.

    • @SpykersB
      @SpykersB 10 месяцев назад

      Is the idea of the hose clamp to just get in the way, block it so you cant twist it off? (Because i cant see it actually tighted the thick plastic of the valterra).

    • @HappilyEverHanks

      Great tip! I'll look into this more 🙂

      Good idea.

    • @davidk3277
      @davidk3277 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, I keep the valve on all the time, so the hose clamp is great. It keeps it from falling off while driving, and it holds it i place from accidentally disconnecting the valve when you're just trying to remove your sewer hose. However if you didn't want to keep the valve on all the time, you would not want the hose clamp because it would be quite annoying to have to put it on and take it off every time you're hooking up.@@SpykersB

    The Valterra external sewer valve works great if you have two gray tank drain lines on the same outlet. My gray tanks are 35 gallon each, one is the kitchen sink, and the other is for the bathroom sink and shower. By closing the Valterra valve and opening the two gray tank valves, I now have one 70 gallon gray tank and can stay onsite for longer without having to dump my tanks, The bathroom tank normally fills up at least twice as fast as the kitchen tank. All the valves are closed when she moves though!

    • @socalnatives
      @socalnatives 9 месяцев назад

      Just saw this reply. I also have a 5th wheel with two tanks and tried this. The issue I ran into is the tanks sit at different levels so kitchen fills up. Seems like it will back up before bathroom fills up. Have had an issue with this?

    We have the temperature/humidity sensor. I epoxied a couple of magnets to the back and stuck it on the refrigerator since counter space is an issue. Attaching a magnet to one of the sensors allows it to stay sheltered and attached to the pin box in camp for an outside reading.

    You should get heat tape for your water pipes. That’s what mobile home owners use so their pipes don’t freeze. They plug into electric outlet on one end. you just wrap them around the pipes and it warms them just enough. You can get generic damp rod at the $1.25 tree. It’s just as good.

I can't put a curtain over it because it is too close to the stove and it is not really shaped for a metal shade. I have threaten to put aluminum foil over it, but then my wife called me a "Tin Foil Hatter" and said it would look like we were trying to avoid paranormal beings that employ ESP. So, privacy window film it is. Thanks for the tips.

We are full time RVers for the past year, and we are finally getting to the point that we know exactly what we need to have with us and what can be delegated to the 1976 motorhome project we have or our shed on our lakeview property. Or thrown out!! How do you guys make these tough decisions about what you needed to keep and what you needed to throw away when you guys started? I am specifically looking for input from Renee about clothes, shoes and jewelry, and hubby would like some input from Kyle, I think, regarding the guy-type gadgets and tools. Thank you guys again, we never miss a video and watch it as soon as I get my email saying it's been posted.

    Thanks Hanks! 🤪 I love youre fun videos! One question! But first, thanks for all the cool Christmas present ideas for "Millie," our lil RV.
    So, regarding that twist-on sewer dump valve, for me, ... Do we take it off and clean it before we depart the campsite, and then install it as part of our set up when we arrive at the next campsite?
    Cheers, Eric

      We just leave ours on 24/7, no need to remove and clean unless you feel like it every so often.

    I still prefer the yellow chalks. They are a better width for the 5th wheel tires and those little black ones just dont cut it. They look like they go to a little kids toy car😅. Everyone should just use the ones they like though. Great video Team Hanks! Especially Dex.

      as a fulltimer i have to disagree the black ones held up great. The yellow ones didnt last very long for me, my camper climbed them and crushed them

      @HappilyEverHanks  10 месяцев назад

      Those yellow ones did work okay for our travel trailer with smaller tires, it was our fifth wheel that crushed the yellow ones

    DampRid: next time you're in Canada, go to the Dollarama. You can get them for FOUR dollars. That's Canadian, so current conversion, it's less than three bucks American.
